Very cozy, romantic setting. Although sitting near the window in April proved to be a tad bit chilly. Nonetheless, we absolutely loved it! The food was to die for! My wife had the Rhubarb Pomelo salad and added the crab cake. THAT CRAB CAKE!!! Wow!!! Phenomenal!! I had the Andouille and Frog Gumbo. I could eat that dish over and over. It was slightly spicy and ever so flavorful! Absolutely delicious! We topped our meal off with a shared desert of limoncello cake. It was light and cloud fluffy and just fantastic deliciousness! Racism! I was just refused entry at this restaurant. Supposedly, I had made racist comments about someone last time I was there. He obviously had spoken with an accent and was brown. I've traveled a lot, have visited 69 countries and lived in 8, know languages, and I am always curious about people. He said he was Puerto Rican. I had said, "what brought you to Maine thats not an obvious first choice from the tropics?" He had said something like he got an opportunity from Puerto Rico worked at their waterfront restaurant. And I said something like yeah I know you didn't just swim here. Thought we had a good chat etc. Two months later I am supposedly racist and banned from there. And the chef that barred entry said he had heard me say something about "swimming here," me sitting at a table while he was in the kitchen. Preposterous! Wowie prickly weird, I won't be going to any of their family restaurants and am telling everyone too. read more

We received a warm greeting as soon as we arrived from Salinda. Thankfully, I saw another reviewer comment on the draft by the window, so I kept my sweater and kept my wrap on my lap, and I was fine. The air temperature itself was comfortable, but there is a draft right next to the windows caused by the negative air pressure from the kitchen exhaust fans. Everything was fantastic from the cocktails to dessert, and the service was helpful and attentive without being intrusive - we felt at home right away! TLDR: Linden + Front does neighborhood new American better than anyone else in the midcoast. L + F is easily the best restaurant in city and they consistently knock it out of the park on all fronts. The staff are some of the kindest, most accommodating people in the business--the bartenders in particular are always willing to work with you to find exactly the cocktail you're in the mood for. The food is fresh and local. In particular the partnership with Bath's local butcher shines through in their meats, but there are plenty of options for vegetarians as well. They're also one of the only restaurants around where I feel confident I can bring my partner who has celiac. He's eaten here multiple times and the staff have always been understanding and able to accommodate him. The atmosphere strikes a lovely balance that feels sophisticated enough for an event or special occasion, but just as welcoming if you want to sit at the bar after work and have a French onion burger and drink. read more

Stumbled in here one busy night and was lucky to get a seat at the bar right away. The vibe was immaculate, with a lot of cozy holiday decor. We went there for dinner because of the reviews that we read, but I would not recommend coming to this restaurant. We sat by a window that was very leaky and we froze all night. The waitress tried to remedy the situation by putting towels around it. Our meals were mediocre at best, the worst part was that both of our meals arrived lukewarm. They comped us a dessert, but that wasn't that good either. Service, however, was very friendly and prompt. Sorry to have to say this about the food. We wanted to have a good night there. read more

We loved the variety of menu items and the food was delicious. We went for a birthday dinner and had the calamari, bread plates and beet and citrus bowl as starters. I had a portobello mushroom burger with fries, it was very tasty as it had a really delicious sauce. My dining companions liked their pork and risotto entrees. The bread was like a salty focaccia from heaven. Crispy yet tender too, you must have some. The beets were very refreshing and went exceptionally with the goat cheese. So happy to have another good restaurant in Bath. Linden and Front has huge shoes to fill -- taking over the former Salt Pine Social location. We've been there about six times so far and the experience has been quite good. Their overall menu choices are solid ( my favorites are the caramelized onion burger, brussels' sprouts, and the butternut squash plate). But it's the specials that I really like! We just had a terrific charcuterie plate with smoked duck, lamb croquettes, Spanish chorizo, and really yummy pate. Service is super friendly, and the atmosphere is fun and classy. We stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night from the recommendation of a realtor as we are from out of town. No reservation, but we were warmly welcomed to a table in the main dining area. The menu is varied but uses a lot of varied spices and veggies. If you are a plain eater this may not be for you. Our server was great. Started with the mushroom soup and Brussels. Soup was excellent. Not too creamy with great flavors. Served hot which isn't always the case with soups at restaurants so was a good start. Brussels had an apricot jam which was tasty as long as you don't get too much of the jam with your bite. Entrees came while we were just finishing the appetizer. Seems petty but I like when i am asked if I'm done with the appetizer before my main entree is brought out. Probably why food was warm not hot. I got the baked haddock with crab stuffing. I wasn't a fan of the broth it was served with or the veggies. Was light. BF had the pork which he really enjoyed. Lemon blueberry tart for dessert. They said lemon meringue but it was an individual mini blueberry tartlet on top of a lemon pudding. Great crust and fresh whipped cream. Overall it was a good meal. Our server was great. Attentive and personable. For her credit, our food was brought out by someone else who did clear the table to fit the entrees. read more

I enjoyed the trout dinner which was generous and presented with a delicious array of vegetables. We had the bean toast and the calamari for appetizers. They were large enough to share and delicious. We've been wanting to check out Linden+Front and my husband's birthday provided the perfect opportunity. We showed up with no reservation at 6pm on a Friday--they offered us a small table or the bar. We chose to sit at the bar for more space. I asked the bartender for a cocktail recommendation and we settled in one I'd like, it was $13--I forget the name but it has violette in it, which led to a pretty purple color. My husband decided to get a glass of Cabernet--turns out the house cab was $15/glass, which seemed steep. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which were very good but could have been a bit more tender. I got the scallops ($36) which were delicious, the plate felt like a substantial meals. My husband got a filet with delicates squash, he loved the squash. We chose to pass on dessert because we had cake at home. All in all, I'm very excited for Linden+Front to be in Bath and look forward to returning. The menu has a good variety of price points. It would be a nice place to get drinks and some small plates if you couldn't splurge for dinner. read more

Everyone is giving L&F 5 stars and I understand why. The atmosphere (esp in main/bar room) is perfect. The drinks are superb. The service impeccable. Bath desperately needed this restaurant. That's why I've probably been there a dozen times in the short time they've been open. And I will continue to go. But I do wish I could find more on the menu that isn't SWEET. Apricot is featured in 4/5 appetizers/main dishes. And maple syrup in others. I can skip dessert if I don't want sweets, but I wish I didn't have to skip dinner. Agree with others on the 5-layer dip. Not great. But most everything else IS great! Please change up the menu more and lay off the honey, cherry, apricot, maple sugar. read more

They pulled it out. Crab cakes were the best I've ever had. In a saffron bouillabaisse broth! Wow. The garden salad and the beet bowl were spectacular. I have not had greens that crispy and fresh all summer. Terrific Wine selection by the glass was delightful. Eat at the bar, bartender was delightful and service was excellent. Had to send back my first selection as it was overcooked and they handled it beautifully. I hate to send back items but the way they handled it made it comfortable. Linden + Front, great new restaurant in Bath! We went to a soft opening last night, and what a treat! The decor and ambience is inviting, beautifully designed. The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. And the food! Excellent. We had pork shoulder, a burger and delicious sides - gnocchi (yum!), hand cut french fries (more please), a creative salad rounded it out. The pork was tender, with flavorful spices, a delicious entree. The burger with caramelized onions and gruyere was outstanding. We will be back soon! read more

They do need to get their website up and running. The decor is welcoming and charming-- it was crowded but not full when we were there, and it was pretty noisy, but not excessively so. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable-- although there are certain pieces that remind you that you are in a relatively new restaurant-- timing of food delivery, forgetting a drink order, a little over-stretched on service. We had a later reservation and we really felt rushed out the door. They should probably consider closing later than 8 p.m. so that the staff isn't racing around cleaning up by 7:45, even if they're no longer taking orders. Now, let's get to the important part. The food is really good. A fabulous addition to the area. The potato side for the filet is smoky and a great counterpoint to the meat, which was delicious. The steak frites was definitely delicious and a bargain. French fries were deemed excellent (a rarity for our French fry lover). The beet carpaccio was not as described on the menu, but a delicious combination of flavors all the same. The trout was perfectly prepared. We only had the ice cream for dessert, but the folks at the next table were raving about the sorbets and the tart. We did not ask about the options for vegans or people with food allergies such as gluten (celiac), dairy, or nuts. Several dishes are dusted with pistachio, so a super sensitive person might need to ask that the whole table forego any of those. read more
