Very unique food choices and we will have to go back to try more of their menu. We have been by this restaurant several times over the years and finally stopped by. It is a small but very quaint restaurant with a full bar and great laid back atmosphere. The service was great. Our waitress was fun and very pleasant. There were a few large parties the night we went and everyone was talking, relaxing and having great food and you could tell they were enjoying their food and just feeling like your home. At our table, we had the Blackened Haddock Sandwich with Onion Rings, House BBQ Wings w/FFs, Steak and Frites Bomb, BLT Sub, and 3 different burgers (sorry, cannot remember the names) but they were all very good. For dessert, Caramel Cheesecake, Yum! Definitely a place to check out if are in the area! An update from July 23, '25. Food was superb as always, great chicken sandwich. I asked for the best Chardonay and it was great. Atmosphere was perfect small town pub. Place was packed when we arrived for supper (people vote with their feet, a good sign!) , so food was a bit slow in arriving. Service was professional, but no one smiles or greets; they're busy. And strangely, the bar top was refinished incorrectly, so it is clean but sticky! NOT sticky from being dirty, mind you, I repeat, NOT dirty at all, but from the wrong varnish or application. It has been this way for a long time, years. The finish just never cured properly. I don't see why they don't do a refinish. Strange. But, always a perfect place to go, worth the trip. To those of us who have experienced busy or hectic times in our lives, know all too well how fast food can numb us to the experience of savoring great tasting food. For me growing up, it was the chicken sandwich. I thought I had experienced every level of a good chicken a sandwich....... WRONG! I am blessed to have friends who were raise in a pure food environment far from the false fast food facade (say that 3Xs fast). Last night these friends invited my wife and I out to experience an eatery with an unusual name and origin story - "Three Robbers Pub" in Bowdoin Maine. First, it was OPEN, unlike many places closing early week days due to staffing. A small quaint pub, we were happily greeted by Samantha who started me off with a "Definitive" Octoberfest. A very tasty and smooth local lager that forced me to pull back on the reigns for fear of overindulging. For my meal I smartly listen to the wise counsel of my friend choosing the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. It was served perfect temp on a cool bed of iceberg lettuce, glazed with their home made ranch (substituted for the bleu cheese spread) and hand cut sweet potato fries. My first bite immediately educated all 5 of my senses as to what a GREAT chicken sandwich is supposed to taste like. Every bite and addition of fries I encountered a crispy, tender, juicy and evenly flavored utopia. I am pretty sure our hard working server/ bartender Samantha, was entertained by how our table shared and raved about this meal. BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH EVER! The food was above average, but the service was below average. They pretty much cancelled each other out. Food: jalapeño popper burger was very tasty. Fish and chips were slightly above average. Service: The waitress seemed slightly annoyed at the customers. Took some time to receive a refill of my water. Not very friendly, but also not grumpy. It just seemed that she felt inconvenienced. The waitress seemed very motivated to close the pub down early, and hustled to get that done. Her focus on closing 15 minutes early seemed to take away from the patrons. We were in the Bath/Brunswick area and rather than try the usual suspects, we decided to try Three Robbers based on all the good reviews. It was pretty dead on a Saturday but the beer was fresh, the service was friendly, and the space is homey. They make some good drinks as well. The food was just okay. I had a chicken sandwich and it was one of those where the breast is twice the size of the bun and hangs off either side. I guess some people think of that as a good value but it's a little hard to eat. The main bummer was that even though it was dead, the fries were room temp to cold. I expect that from airport food but not from a pub that everyone raves about. A friend had a huge burger and and he said it was pretty decent. The prices were also more than I was expecting from a hole in the wall; more like Portland prices, $17 burger, $16 chicken sandwich. If you're in the area, you could do worse, but I wouldn't go out of your way as we did and I'd set my expectations a little lower than most have said. read more

Three Robbers Pub is a comfort food paradise. Decor-wise, think of a wilderness camp with logo merchandise avaiiable for sale on the wall behind the old fashioned bar counter. It's all wood and it's all real. Not many tables and a medium sized, well scarred bar, it can fill up fast...and not with walk ins..the folks who come here practically own their spot. Cocktails served, and draft or craft beer and cider are available. And the food.. well.. it's just great. Best burger in Maine, hands down..huge, perfectly cooked, juicy, lots of goodies on the bun. The Fries are addictive. The fried pickled asparagus appetizer is so delicious it brings tears to your eyes, as you sip your draft cider (excellent) and await the entree. I keep ordering the fish and chips..because the fish is perfectly cooked, crisp, a delicious batter that's not too thick. And I am so impressed with the cheerful, good hearted service... Three Robber's Pub is quickly becoming my favorite local place for quiet atmosphere, consistent food, and a quaint, welcoming setting. Located along the river in the cozy town of Bowdoinham, Maine. Three Robbers is gaining it's reputation as a friendly local place to try. And yes, outside dining is available at the umbrella'd picnic tables on the side lawn! On my most recent visit I wanted to try the crab meat roll special and I was NOT disappointed! Served on a golden brown buttery bun, toasted to crispy-warm perfection, the portion of crab to bun was 60/40 in favor of the crab! It came with a piping-hot side of generous golden fries and tangy homemade pickles; in short it was a quintessential summertime-in-Maine kind of meal! The menu offers standard pub fare from: buffalo wings, fried cheese curd, salad, steak and cheese, burgers, plus the daily dessert offering which is ever changing. Be sure to keep an eye on the "Dog-of-the-Day", written on the white board behind the bar. I once devoured the foot-long scrapple dog in like 30 seconds it was soooo good! There is a full bar and a decent selection of draft beers, other bottled beverages including selections from local breweries like Cushnoc, hard seltzer is also available, and the wine list is small but nothing to be sneezed at. Prices are just right and reasonable for a cozy local pub in a popular tourist State like Maine, (small businesses in the State have been challenged to stay afloat since the Covid-19 pandemic is still raging). The atmosphere is very pub like, usually there is a ball game on the two large screen tv's mounted above the bar, and conversational-friendly music playing in the background adds to the laid back, local, feel. The decor is a combination of hunting lodge meets, smelt camp, meets hipster clean! Plenty of parking on the street, in the lot to the side, and the picturesque waterfront is a short walk away. In other words...there is always free parking AND free Wifi!! The owner has taken steps to ensure safe physical distancing between diners. My only concern was the inconsistent enforcement of the face-mask wearing policy by staff, that the State of Maine has issued during the Covid-19. In Maine, a mask needs to be worn when entering, exiting, and walking around an eating establishment (no mask is ok while seated and eating) It is very very important to me that patrons adhere to the mask wearing policy when entering and exiting the establishment. I understand and appreciate that the face mask policy is new and not everyone in this State agrees with it....but..... for everyone's safety and health it is a new thing restaurant staff and more importantly restaurant PATRONS have to me mindful of. I recommend grabbing a cold one and a Dog-of-the-Day at Three Robber's Pub! (just please, do the whole mask thing....) read more

It is nice to have another option that is close to home! There was one VERY busy lady bussing tables, waitressing, and tending bar who seemed nice. The small menu was diverse and they have some daily specials (yesterday was a Ginger Squash Soup, Crab Cake Basket). We tried the Fried Pickled Asparagus with Ranch and it very good. The batter was not too thick and it was crunchy. The Ranch had a bit of heat. There was a bunch that were clumped together, probably just trying to go too fast. My husband liked his Haddock Sandwich, it was very moist and well seasoned with a crispy crust. The Steak Hogie with no Hogie was OK, but I probably would not order it again. The steak had the consistency of cubed-steak. I couldn't eat the Cole Slaw since it was made of red cabbage which has natural nitrates. The waitress didn't come back until it was time for the check, so I didn't have the opportunity to ask for another option. We will go back! read more

I recently visited this pub for the first time. I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere that was completely devoid of pretentiousness. Everything about this place was friendly. None of the gentrified hipster vibe was present that is so evident in way to many places these days. I ordered the brisket sandwich that was on special that day and ate at the bar. Yum! There are several tables but this is not a large place. They have a nice selection of local beers on tap and in cans as well as the usual national brand beer offerings. Some mysterious jars were visible with various ingredients infusing flavors to the alcohol contained within. These are for specialty house cocktails. Very cool pub. This is a place that you don't want to miss. They have local craft beer on tap as well as many different types of wine. Their food is consistently very good. They offer two specials as well as deserts. Their menu is streamlined which allows them to focus on quality. I can't say enough about the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. OMG, the flavors are amazing. The breading on the fried chicken is to die for. Hands down, the best chicken sandwich. People are friendly and the pub has a very cool vibe. The back story on the name is on the back of the menu. Just went to eat lunch, was told I had to have a mask on to sit on a chair three feet from me in a room full of people without masks on. Owner chased me to my truck after I took the picture and tried to open my truck door, quite threatening. Will never recommend or go there again. read more

This place is great! We took a motorcycle ride and visited the pub this past weekend. I ordered the Fish & Chips and it was fantastic, it was perfectly cooked with a crispy outside and hot, moist and flaky inside. There's an excellent variety of drink choices with something to satisfy everyone and also an extensive list of craft beer. Outdoor seating is available on the grass out back, it's a great destination for lunch. I will definitely be coming back many times this summer. Pub food, not a huge menu but awesome food!! Wish I took a picture.... mid week lunch today at 3 Robbers, thought we'd try it. So happy we did! Had a buffalo chicken sandwich (I asked for it grilled instead of fried which they did) with onion rings. Both were great, and the pickles are different and awesome too (enough to get special recognition). Friend had the steak sub which was spectacular, made me try it, very tasty and fresh. Came because of Three Robbers sister pub in Richmond (best pizza and panini around)- was not disappointed.The fried haddock sub was PERFECT- fish cooked beautifully, seasoned well, "slaw"dressing lovely.Only complaint was I had to leave the roll for leftovers, as the sub is massive!
