This is my first time reviewing a restaurant, and this is worth it to me because I have never experienced a service like this before, where I feel so welcomed, and having a smile on my face while eating! As mentioned from the other reviewers, this is indeed an authentic Japanese restaurant (The owner was previously from Tokyo), Japanese Fast Food-Ya! has their own charm to their place, the owner and the staff who work there are SO nice, customer service is high up there no doubt about it, because the owner actually takes his time and talks to his customers. Just like the other reviewers mentioned, the owner is very nice, and he always greets everyone with a smile, you can see this guy is passionate about his business and making sure his customers enjoy their stay at his restaurant. The food, wow it is delicious, takyoyaki balls are fantastic, the temperature is kept so well in the balls, when you take a bite of it, it feels so fluffy on the inside but crispy on the outside, it is so well balanced. The ramen was fantastic, the broth is well made, and I seriously had a food coma after this, really enjoyed their food. They also added a poutine of their own, with a Japanese touch to it.This is a HIDDEN GEM, and I hope everyone else will discover this place, it is so worth dropping by to enjoy an affordable, yet delicious meal! read more

Having just moved to the neighbourhood, I had driven past Japanese Fast Food-Ya! A few times and was intrigued. A Japanese place in Mimico? What the heck?! And not only that.. A Japanese owned Japanese restaurant in Toronto?! I knew that this place would be special as soon as I saw it. Tonight I went there for some takeout and wow... Was it ever good. I had a half hour conversation with Nobu and his father and we ordered the Japanese poutine (a very unique take on poutine- with nori, green onions, cheese, spicy mayo, pickled ginger, kewpie mayonnaise, Bonito flakes), ramen (the broth was out of this world!! Beating any overly salted hipster spot downtown...plus with all the most authentic fixings and al dente noodles!), pork donburi (my husband declared it to be amazing) and pork gyoza (I've never met one I didn't like.). He also threw in a few spring rolls too which was well appreciated. Then, he presented it beautifully on the counter. Probably the only time I've ever seen that happen for takeout. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add some Japanese drinks... Some pocari sweat or calpico would make this my dream spot. I live in the neighbourhood and I can't count the number of times I have heard/seen the chef/owner(?) getting into altercations not only with people I assume were patrons, but also harassing people on the street who are simply walking by. He follows people to their cars, runs down the street after them and shoves menus in their faces. I'm referring to women walking alone at night, men, elderly, it doesn't matter. When these people don't agree to eat at his restaurant, he usually flips out. Screaming, and even pushing or blocking people from walking away, again, I mean both men AND women!!!. He is SO aggressive!!!!! This all takes place on a quiet residential side street. I don't know how his business is still open. I've been tempted to call the police on more than one occasion just based on what I've witnessed him doing to people. He obviously has mental issues, but people have the right not to be harassed or assaulted when walking by his establishment. Simply based on how this man verbally attacks people walking by, I don't know how or why anyone should support him. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. read more

If you have time, enjoy the chatting, this place would be great for you. We ordered the takoyaki as a appetizer I think it is good, and then we have 2 order of the ramen and one pork don. The ramen is one of the best that I have had compared to a lot of ramen restaurant in DT, you have massive amount of pork instead of 2 little pics, the broth is rich and not salty at all. The kazudon is well cooked not dried out at all and I like the sticky rice under it. We tried mango cheesecake as the desert and it has some mango chucks inside. I am rating 5 stars for the food even though the ramen price is a bit higher than regular but you will get what you pay for, you will get more noodles, topping and everything, I would said it worth the money. As for the wait time, this might be a little draw back but please this man is working by himself, he is a waiter, a cooker and a cashier, he tries his best to serve the quality food, and I admire that. Me and my husband loves animes and would drool over takoyaki and ramen that Naruto, Soma-kun and other characters were eating! Lol so we looked for places that offers takoyaki (not a lot serves it) Mostly were located downtown without parking. Until we found this place online with good reviews. So we went for take out, small place but lots of parking space. I was greeted warmly. I ordered 2 Takoyaki (of course) Japanese poutine (owners creation and boasting that the potatoes are freshly sliced everyday) really tasty; and ramen! Ramen was gòod too. He served it and explained some of the ingredients. We got free spring rolls for first time visit. I loved the place so we went back for pick up around 9:40pm, almost closed! I asked husband to get the food so he can meet the owner. My husband came back 35 mins after. It's not because the fòod was slow but because they were chatting! The owner was very friendly and cheerful. You can't get such nice service very often so this place will be our favorite! read more

Four of us just had the most wonderful meal at this place. Having ordered widely from the menu we can each attest to the chef's skill and flair. Hailing from Tokyo, he put a special effort into even basic calamari and octopus balls. The ramen stands apart from everything else, however. Set in a light broth that housed everything from ginger to lemon grass to nori, it could have been a stodgy mess but came out wonderfully. The noodles were cooked to perfection and delectable to the last bite. One small issue and a trivial one at that was the length of wait we had as dine-in customers. Twenty minutes in and we started getting appetizers and the mains took a further 30, but the take away patrons flew through at a very steady rate. This location has changed hands frequently over the years and maybe for good reason - but that should not put you off this little gem in the heart of Mimico. read more

We've passed by the restaurant many times before but had never gone in until today. My wife asked me to stop on the way home to get fish and chips and I'm glad she did! We got a double order of halibut and chips which was more than enough for the two of us and our 7 year old daughter. The batter on the fish was light and delicious and our daughter who is usually indifferent to fish said that it was "yummy" and cleaned her plate. The fries were thick cut and were better than most take out varieties. We had a side of spring rolls as well and they were very tasty. We liked that the rolls were not too crunchy and didn't shatter in your mouth. We'll be back for the fish again and we're looking forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

So I decided to ride my bike to Mimico and just happened to stumble on it. Came in today and am just loving the vibe. The owner's a nice guy who's weekend spot is starting to blow up. So straight up - he's busy, he tells you he's busy, but he knows he won't disappoint if he makes you wait. So karaage and to takoyaki is on the menu. I've got melon and OG ramune for my wait. And after eating a Hi-Chew I came to find out each piece is 210 calories. Basically this is a total hedge on 3x times the calories I would burn on this bike ride. Owner is super friendly and straight up nice. I'm very hopeful this turns out well. It gives me a good excuse for cardio. .... Made it home. In my belly. Will go back. A lot. read more

I had been considering a visit to this restaurant after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had a craving for some ramen the other night, so I called ahead and made my way down. There is parking behind the restaurant, but I missed it the first time around the block. I was the only patron at the restaurant at around 9:30pm on a Thursday night. I was greeted with a very friendly welcome from the chef/owner. He made some recommendations on what to try. I went with the takoyaki and the tonkustu ramen. Both were full of flavour and super delicious. While the food was very good and worth the trip, the chef is one-of-a-kind and the biggest reason I will return soon for another tasty bowl of ramen. read more

His food his homade and fresh, yes there may be a a 45min to 1 hour wait when hes busy but hes a one man operation. Peole dont understand how hard it is to open and run a fresh menu daily on your own. He food is sooo good. To the people who say hes rude or assaults you ny coming out of his store to show you his menu ( my god he may even touch your arm or shoulder) gow up stop being such a pansy. Small one man operations like this need our support, He cooks great homemade food which takes time and yes at most maybe a little overzelous at getting potential customers to look at his menu. Excellent food. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and it is all delicious. Perfect sharing plates, or menu options for personal entrees. Living in the area I have learned to call ahead for daily hours as they don't always mirror those posted and to ask about wait times. Nobu is the sole employee who seats guests, takes orders, cooks, cleans up and cashes out so when it gets busy, yes, there is a wait. However, the food is made to order and is delicious. Nobu is from Japan so the dishes are authentic. If there is a wait, it's worth it for the meal you will enjoy. I dined at Nobuya tonight and had an excellent experience. The wait time was impressively short, which made our visit all the more enjoyable. Once we ordered, the food arrived promptly, and I was blown away by the quality. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. What truly stood out was the friendliness of the owner. They took the time to chat with us, making us feel right at home. It's clear that they are passionate about their restaurant and genuinely care about their customers. Amazing food! Great service! Such a sweet owner! Presentation was amazing and it's just as good as it looks! So excited to find this gem tucked away in such a random place. Also this place is so affordable!! You can get a full meal for under 8 bucks! Do it... It'll be the best decision you make this week. Right on the 76A bus route at Stanley! Or you can walk from the GO! I'll quit before I start sounding like I was paid by them. Also, make sure you have a little time on your hands when you go in. Excellent customer service. Very friendly from the second you walk in the door. I had the Karaage + Chips, incredible. The seasoning and garnish we're just right. And the spice mayo was on point. Thick cut chips, and the chicken just melts in your mouth, so delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the donburi. Also, the takoyaki was great too! Please take the time to go check out this unique and friendly establishment. Found this place by fluke on a rainy day. The place is pretty small but the ramen was authentic and delicious! Too bad the restaurant is in a bad location. The shop is owned by the sweetest Japanese family who gave us complimentary homemade spring rolls (with takoyaki sauce) and green tea packets to take home lol. Giving this 5 stars for the food and service in hopes that more people read this and support great little family owned businesses that serve authentic cuisine. They also have free parking, a small outdoor patio and very clean bathrooms :) read more

There are a lot of verrrrry delicious foods in this restaurant. And owner Nobuyuki is very nice guy! I ate Tonkatu and Takoyaki. But I'm sorry I can't explain how was it. Because I don't have any words to explain. But I can say "It was great". If you want to eat Japanese food in Toront, you have to come here. You can meet wonderful Japanese food and wonderful Japanese guy. I recommend you to eat Takoyaki,Katudon and drink green tea! I hope you will be happy to go there!! read more

This place has changed hands a couple of times since I lived here but am glad to have finally tried this new place out... The Karaage chicken is great and so is the fish (from the maritimes so that's saying something)... One of many great things about this place is the fries!! Hand made and the coating he puts on them is delicious!! Sometimes he gets a little too busy for one person to handle but always worth the wait for fresh hand made food! Just tried out this place for the first time, and I'm glad I did! My wife and I were greeted by the owner, Nobu, who is a really friendly and hospitable host. The restaurant is clean and has a nice comfortable feel. I ordered the Tokyo Shio ramen and the food was delicious. The soup was flavorful and the noodles were the right texture. Overall, a really excellent experience! The kitchen was staffed only by the owner, so expect a bit of a wait. The wait is worth it! read more

Our family of 4 came in for a Friday night dinner and ordered Beef Ramen, Fish and Chips, Eel and Octopus balls. The food did take a little longer then an average restaurant keeping in mind that the one chef is responsible for taking orders, cooking and delivery of the food. As well as all of the food is made to order. The chef is also from Japan which is rare in Toronto. The food was fantastic and the customer service was very good. We will defiantly be going back! read more
