Amazing service at Computer Medics! Went thru Apple Support to get an appointment at the Genius Bar (25 miles away at Coconut Point); but Apple also offered Computer Medics (7 miles away) as an authorized service location. Not too hard to figure out what I chose, and an appt was available the next day! Arrived at my appt time - no waiting, and Ori took care of me immediately. I thought I had a hard drive problem as my mac would not boot up at all. He did a 10 minute diagnostic check - told me all the hardware was fine. Just needed a complete erasure of the hard-drive and all new install of the OS. He suggested that I could do this at home using directions from Apple support. As I took out my credit card to pay for the diagnosis, he told me to put it away - that was all part of the "their diagnosis" and charges don't start until they do further work! Wow!! Went home, followed directions, new IOS, and installed backup from Time Machine. All is well again and much faster bootup too! I sure know where to go if I ever need anymore done. We have been using Computer Medics for a couple of years. In our case their task is more complicated than usual as we live in Fort Myers but travel extensively about 7 months per year. They are more than up to the task. Not only do we get effecient and professional service at home, we get the same as we travel. Example; recently one of our laptops decided to stop working, after telephone conversation with Mike we decided we needed to replace this computer, we sent the dead computer to them, they configured a new computer, called us, we figured out where we would be in a few days, they sent it to us. Upon unpacking it looked like and operated just like our old computer. To say we are impressed would be an understatement, exceptionally well done. My first experience with hem was TERRIFIC! A very competent small, personalized business, Computer Medics tailors its srvice to customers, not to their own geeks. They will come to you, or you can choose 24-hour, two day or regular speed services and most appealing to me is their remote repair capability. As a full time RV-er, should I have problems they can fix me wherever I am. In my last case I chose the 2-day service, but the parts supplier sent a bad part so it took longer. VERY DISAPPOINTED! When I brought my computer in, upon inspection, they told me I would likely need a new hard drive. I gave them the OK to do so. We got the 5-7 day service. On day 5 we called and they said it would not be ready until day 7. On day 7 we called in the morning and they said it would not be ready that day! They said they had called us 2 times and left messages to get permission to put in a new hard drive. No messages left and we were home those days and no phone calls. We complained that we had given permission and needed it that day, as we were leaving on vacation the next day. They said it would take them all day to fix. Got a call 2 hrs later that it was done. After picking up, I noticed that many programs and files had not been transferred to the new hard drive. They did a rush job that was incomplete. Due to the lack of communication between staff and we believe outright lying to us, we felt taken advantage of and that money, rather than the customer, was the focus of their entire service. They purposely wait till the full 7 days to do a job that takes less then 2 hrs, so that in the future you would pay for a quicker service. By doing a shoddy job, they have lost a lot more money in the long run, as we will never use again, nor recommend! read more

I apparently broke to connector on my laptop motherboard and the keyboard cable. I stopped to see if they could fix it. They wanted to sign me up for a repair with a minimun charge of 1 hour ($79/hr) with a one week wait. 24 hours would be $149/hr. I left. Another repair shop looked at it and told me not economically repairable as motherboard would have to be replaced. No Charge by them. read more

I was very disturbed after Windows 10 got into my computer, even though I kept Declining the invitation. My computer was frozen on the Accept/Decline screen. I had no use of the computer. Computer Medics came to my home and was able to get me back to Windows 7 and blocked any future attempts for Windows 10. That is why I always call them. They always come to my rescue. read more

Brought my dad's laptop in with a cracked screen. Computer was working fine. We paid extra since we were crunched in on time (dad was flying to GA in less than a week). They contacted me to tell me the screen replacement would be $580 because they could not find the screen anywhere else, but one place. My dad said no, they insisted since it was "the only one" they could find, but we denied the service. They said since no screen was replaced, they could do a backup because it wouldn't cost me anything extra and tried to sell me a flash drive. I said I had a 64 GB flash drive, they said it would be more than enough. When we brought the flashdrive over, my dad asked them if they had a screen film, or something similar to cover the screen so pieces wouldn't fall off and hurt him. Guy said there is no such thing and assured my dad no radiation problem (dad was really worried). They called me back saying it wasn't enough, tried to sell me again, we said no and I had to bring another 32 GB. Gentleman told me he would have to start backup all over again because he deleted the prior backup because "he thought" I wanted all in one. Meanwhile, we lost 2 days already with miscommunication, minding you we already told them we were really short on time. Finally, I called back on Saturday around 12:30 and they said computer was already done. Ran over there to pick it up, since they were closing and Monday my dad would be gone before they were opened. As soon as we drive off, computer didn't work. We thought no battery!! Got home and computer still didn't work. Call CM at 2:30 PM on Saturday and left a message. Monday, dropped off dad at airport and stopped by CM to solve problem, only to be told they never checked if screen was working or not, but after putting it back together, they tried to back up and said screen was not working. We left computer working perfectly fine, the only problem was a cracked screen. My dad even asked for an alternative solution since the repair would cost the same amount of a new computer. I asked them why would my dad asked for only a screen protector if screen wasn't working, they said they never checked if screen was working before they took it apart!!! All they said was sorry; but they did through in my face that they already did a backup for free as a courtesy. I didn't ask for a courtesy, I PAID for the to brake my dad's computer. Now, I have to pay another company to fix what they broke and pay shipping since my dad already left!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more
