Good night mommy I love you , sweet dreams ,and good night
    Sandy L.

I adopted Angel from here in 2012 and my partner wanted to adopt a small breed of dog and we came out with a poodle of 2+ years on paper. It was a pleasant ordeal to us . We rented so we needed the ok to adopt a small dog . We had a 24 hour hold on her and that still let us see her on the weekend. But when we found out that we could get her on the following Monday we got to pick her up . I have her now for 5 years old for sure . Now her name is TinkerBell . He has a mind of her own but I always say we girls got to stick together. Now she's my triple G ( gorgeous , good , girl ) all in that order .

Staff here is always rude and unprofessional. If it weren't for the services they provide we would never visit this location.

That's a good thing when it comes to dealing with new homes for rescue pups. We are totally and completely in love with Piper. She is the perfect fit for our family. She and our other dog, Sophie, play together so well. They often sleep cuddled up together. Thank you Big Bones for giving us the opportunity to adopt the sweetest dog ever! BTW, our son adopted from Big Bones the week before we got Piper. He too had a very good experience and got a great little boy who is a perfect fit with his other dog.

We happened upon Sherlock with Big Bones, and were eagerly awaiting to meet this sweet boy. I filled out the lengthy application and was waiting and waiting for any response. Nothing. I wanted to call them, but they don't have a number listed. So more than a week later I went back to the original post on FB about Sherlock and asked if he's possibly already been adopted. The volunteer was nice, she kept me informed and said not yet. I asked why I haven't heard back yet, she said to check junk mail folder. Of course there it was, sitting in junk mail for over 8 days. I answered his question regarding our home ownership explaining that I am the home owner, but my home is in a Trust and will remain that way. Without any other questions we were turned down and told that we are not a good fit for Sherlock, but no explanation as to why. He said we can try to apply for a different dog. WHAT? No thank you! How rude! I am so deeply crushed. I just wanted to meet him. I will never use this agency. Max Fund and plenty of others, are far more reasonable and easier to communicate with and meet the animals in need. Adopters be warned.

The kennels were clean and the whole place was welcoming. I have been to many other places that smelled horrendously of pet excrement and just felt unhealthy. I recently adopted two barn kitties from here, and while I'm grateful for the animals themselves,…read morethe overall experience was frustrating and poorly managed. When I first arrived, a very kind gentleman at the front desk checked me in and told me I was welcome to go look at the barn cats. I appreciated how friendly and helpful he was. However, by the time I came back up front, there was already someone ahead of me in line to adopt--despite me having already been there and actively in the process. The system feels disorganized and unfair, especially for something that already takes time and patience. Unfortunately, the experience was made worse by one of the adoption techs, who was quite rude--not only to me, but also to the front desk staff member who had initially helped me. That interaction felt unnecessary and unprofessional. On top of that, the process took about two and a half hours just to adopt a working (barn) cat, which seems excessive given the nature of these adoptions. I truly appreciate the mission of helping animals find homes, and again, the front desk gentleman was wonderful. But the adoption process itself needs improvement--better organization, clearer communication, and more professionalism would go a long way.

The director said the cat she was interested in wasn't up for adoption yet and she would have to wait. After many days of my mom calling and talking to the lady she basically said that the cat was already hers she just had to wait for him to be available. Today my mom called the shelter again and the director said THAT THEY GAVE THE CAT AWAY!!!! my mom was so devastated. We just lost our family dog and she was so excited and looking forward to getting a new cat. The director said it was because they had heard my mom say she was going to make it an outdoor cat, WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. first, my mom would never do that. She specifically wants a cuddly indoor kitty as a companion, second the shelter specifically said she cant have an outdoor cat and my mom agreed with that part of the contract. It makes absolutely no sense. I could tell from the very beginning something was off about this rescue and I was right. I'm not sure what they're doing over there but whatever it is it's not good. We will probably be getting in contact with a lawyer. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!!

Though the adoption process is long (including a 9 page application, review of app, match-up with a dog, home visit, and finally the actual adoption process), it is so worth it, because for the price of the dog (which varies depending on the age/ability of the dog you are adopting), you get: spay or neuter, vaccinated for distemper/parainfluenza/parvovirus vaccine, deworming, microchip, a 1 hour personal training session or a professional training course at a Shiba Scout Rescue approved facility and senior dogs 7 years or older will also be given a dental if necessary. What I loved most about adopting through the rescue is that we received our dog already knowing that he would be good with our cats and with kids, when we decide to start a family. They keep the dogs for a time to observe them so they can give you a general idea of what kind of dog you are getting. While it is a longer process than adopting a dog through an animal shelter or humane society, I think it is so much more worth it because you already know the dog's personality (for the most part), and whatever problems may arise can be solved through the training course provided in the adoption fee.
