Within days of adding it to my tank, the entire system began crashing. The rock appeared to be in terrible condition, my sand bed turned black, and the tank was effectively ruined. As someone relatively new to the hobby, I relied on SD Aqua's expertise and guidance. Instead, I was left dealing with a disaster. To address the problem, SD Aqua referred me to a person named Andrew to help fix the tank. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse. The work performed created additional plumbing problems that later had to be corrected. We relied on the recommendations of people who presented themselves as experts, and that trust turned out to be a costly mistake. While the tank was being repaired, we entrusted our fish to SD Aqua for temporary holding. Several fish died while in their care. The remaining fish were returned in poor condition and soon showed signs of disease. Over the following weeks, we watched fish die one after another despite significant effort and expense trying to save them. Anyone who keeps saltwater fish understands how devastating it is to watch animals slowly decline and die after investing so much time, money, and care into them. What makes the entire experience even more frustrating is the complete lack of accountability. We were left with a destroyed tank, dead fish, damaged plumbing, and thousands of dollars in losses. One additional concern was the business practices we encountered afterward. When I later tried to obtain copies of receipts for purchases and services, SD Aqua was unable to provide complete records. Many of our transactions had been made through Zelle because we were repeatedly told the credit card system was unavailable. As a customer who spent a substantial amount of money with the business, I found it troubling that obtaining basic documentation of purchases was so difficult. At a minimum, it reflected a level of disorganization and poor recordkeeping that was consistent with the rest of our experience. The owner, Diego, was ultimately responsible for our account, and Andrew was the individual recommended to work on our system. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone--especially those new to the hobby--against relying on this store for fish, water, rock, advice, tank services, or system design. There are too many reputable aquarium stores in Southern California to risk going through what we did. My experience with SD Aqua was expensive, frustrating, and ultimately devastating to the aquarium we worked so hard to build.

Gas is over $4/gallon and carrying 3 car seats and 2 strollers doesn't happen in a Prius. Whoever made that sign - didn't they stop to think that maybe they should update the more visible postings of hours, rather than a sign that can only be seen when it's too late? That sign might as well be in the toilet, it would be just as useful. Can't really comment on the shopping experience, etc., because I never got to go inside. But what an inconvenience! They've lost a potential customer - I'll continue to support the customer-service based businesses like Shipwreck Cove, LotsaFishies, StrictlySaltwater, and all the others that realize putting customers first will return higher profits in the long run.

After the passing of my beardie I decided lets go look and see. (I was secretly looking for a new beardie. Lol) Josh was so kind and patient with me. First he had me touch the snake then gently helped me hold him. I think the fear left me a little after seeing how majestic ball pythons are. Son and I continued to walk around and talk about it. Excitement started and well we have a new pied ball python. Son named him Timber. Having lizzards all my life Josh helped us find what was beat for our new baby and helped me with some tricks. He did an amazing job and highly recommend speaking with him. Better yet any of the workers here. I know in the past a lady helped me with my newest lizzard a simple house mediterranean gecko i saved off a glue trap. Farm, Homestead & pet people beware when you purchase your chicks from Hawthorne Country Store!…read more They put tiny rubber hair bands on the chicks legs. We found 1 on one of chicks that was green, easily seen & immediately removed it before it cut off circulation and damaged the chick BUT...... there was a light purple band on another one that we didn't see! Now the chick needs medical attention, her foot will need to be removed for her to survive. This is a pet of ours, a silky chicken that has been put through so much already. We contacted Hawthornes and they said we could exchange the chick now 7 weeks old and attached to our family as we've been taking care of her round the clock. They say "they will take care of the chick as best they can if we exchange her" ..... BS, She will be euthanized. We've requested they have the rest of her foot taken care of by a vet and ensure she will be ok with just a peg leg on one side as a get her back to us as AGAIN, SHE'S OUR PET! They said no, exchange only. PROOF they will euthanize her.

Let me start by saying that this is apparently a TSC corporate issue as well as a store issue…read more I was looking for a good price on hydraulic fluid for my tractor online, and found that TSC carried what I needed. They charged about $17 to deliver in a few days or $19 to deliver on that day. I placed the order online and waited, and waited, and waited. Then I went back to check on the order and the online system said it could not be delivered that day, as promised, but would be there by 3:30pm the next day. I decided I could just pick up what I needed in Escondido, so I canceled the online order, that same day, within a few hours, using the same system I used to order it. The next day, without any communication at all, a guy shows up at my door with the product. I told him I had canceled the order. He verified to me that he was delivering on behalf of the Valley Center TSC and he was a 3rd party contractor. He said this has happened many times before. I told him I didn't need the product and to take it back. He showed me the text he sent to TSC that stated my reasons. The next day, I checked my credit card and saw the "pending" charge still sitting on the account. I waited to see if it would reconcile in the next day or so. The next day, late in the day, someone tried to deliver the pale of fluid AGAIN. This time he dropped it off on my driveway, made no attempt to contact me, and was headed up the driveway on foot when I called to him (three times) and he finally responded. I told him the order had been canceled, and I asked if he worked for TSC. He said he DID work for TSC, the SAME STORE in Valley Center that the other guy tried to deliver from. He took that pale away and I checked my credit card the next day to find that the charge was still pending. I waited for another 24 hours and low and behold the charge went from pending to CHARGED on my account. It then became a phone hassle for me to try to get my money back from a company that refused to take NO for an answer and was bent on shoving their product down my throat, no matter what. I don't know if this is a corporate issue or a store issue, but I DO know that this was no accident or miscommunication. They can't blame the computer for this. I was able to get a "Team Leader" at the store to process a "Return" for a product I never received, on an order I canceled within a couple of hours of placing it, but now I can spend even more time making sure that this happens. I always liked the store and the idea of having their products available for a reasonable price, but I will not do business with shady people, no matter how good the store may appear to be. I'm done with TSC for good, unless I get a corporate person to reach out to me and convince me that this is just the actions of a rogue store manager in Valley Center and not a typical TSC experience.
