We came to Nodo for Valentine's Day and had such an amazing experience! We ordered from the Valentine's Day special set menu ($95 per person for 3 courses) and everything was beautifully done. The food was delicious, we especially loved the scallops with pea purée and the lobster risotto. The chocolate molten lava cake was the perfect ending to the meal and the strawberry panna cotta was also wonderful. I also did the wine pairing which complemented each course perfectly. I have to say that I'm usually quite sceptical about going to an Italian restaurant, but this one really impressed me. The pasta was very fresh and cooked al dente as we would expect good pasta to be. I have the Ziti Genovesi, which is a pasta dish with slow cooked beef, kind of like pulled beef. My partner had the Arancini, which were perfect. Their salads are great with very fresh dressings. There was pretty much nothing that did not appeal to us, when perusing the menu. Our son had the hot salami pizza and it was quite tasty and spicy. Service is very good and attentive without being intrusive. The mood and feel of the restaurant is also quite relaxed with music playing in the background. At some point, we felt the music was a bit too loud, but that got taken care of before we even had a chance to ask them. Came here with my friend before we had a dance class and oh my goodness I was blown away. We shared the blackened brussel sprouts which have a maple cider vinagrette and it was so tasty and flavourful. The fried brussel sprouts didn't feel too oily and had a nice crisp and texture. I also ordered the gnocchi with mushroom and that was straight up incredible. The gnocchi was pan fried and had a nice exterior while being soft and pillowy inside. Service was excellent, they got quite busy so it was a bit of a wait time to get our bills. I will definitely return. read more

Did I ever imagine eating cantaloupe on a pizza? No... esp since the flaming hate I get for liking Hawaiian pizza... but do I wonder why I have never thought of pairing cantaloupe with prosciutto? Yes, I do...!! It was on the chef's creations and it was *chef's kiss*!! We shared this but I could've easily crushed it myself. I do wish each slice had its own basil leaf but that's because basil is my favourite herb. We also got the duck parpadelle pasta and as much as it was delicious, it was the pizza that blew me away. A ton of other menu items looked delicious which only means we'll need to come again. They've got an upstairs space, with a room for parties which makes me wonder if I organize my own birthday for NODO. Sorry but I don't get the hype and long lines. Nodo perpetually is on go-to spots in Lesliville, and I found it just meh. We stopped by for dinner and got: - Arancini: Comes in a funny pear shape. I like my arancini really cheesy, and this was more rice-y and tomato-y. - Burrata: The burrata was a bit bland. This one came with peas, which is at least unique though a bit weird. The sauce had a nice citrus-y kick to it. - Duck Pappardelle: Generous amount of duck, cooked pretty well. The pappardelle though was weirdly wet, and the tomato sauce was a bit bland and generic. - Sausage Rapini: I liked how the pasta was al dente. The sausage was spicyyyyyy (which I liked, though my wife found it too much). Also, not sure if I would have liked the sausage in pieces versus mashed. - Gelato: We got banana, pistachio and chocolate. The banana and pistachio were good (strong flavours, smoothly milky), the chocolate was disappointing (really icey). We were looking for a lunch spot on the weekend and happened to walk by Nodo's lovely patio space which lured us in for a meal. Service was efficient and friendly, accommodating a couple specific requests with no issue and providing a lovely lunch experience for everyone. I ordered the duck ragu papardelle and loved the deep flavors of the slow cooked duck ragu which basically melts into the sauce and pairs so well with the thicker papardelle. I haven't had pasta in a while and this was the perfect plunge back into it. Apparently the kale salad is good, the calzones are great and the olive caldi e nodini are worth a try also! read more

We checked out this Italian resto on Queen East near Leslie. Totally recommend! They have both inside and patio dining. Food is fantastic we really enjoyed. They do all contact tracing and vaccine certificate checkIng at the door. Tables are well spaced and the restaurant space is light and airy. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Our meals were fab. Hubby had the seafood pasta and I had the carbonara. We started with the prosciutto and olives/bread. Their focaccia bread is da bomb. And the olives were slightly warm. Soooo good. Note. Tried this cute little Italian restaurant on the east end of downtown Toronto. There is free parking along the side streets and this place does not take reservations so come at around 6pm if you want to snag a dinner spot. We tried the calamari, the rigatoni trinacria and the gnocchi mushroom. The appetizer was solid - how fried calamari was suppose to taste, the rigatoni was good as well but I felt lacked flavour, and the gnocchi was the real winner with the creamy mushroom soft. The gnocchi resembled little sausages which is different than what I've seen at other restaurants. I loved how chewy and bouncy the texture was. Def a 10/10. The service was decent as well as it did take the servers a bit longer to take our order and refill our waters. Overall a great place to try. read more

Service is excellent and the inside vibe/decor is beautiful. Our server knew the menu inside out and could give us a lot of detail. The calamari and burrata were fantastic. Booked a table for 4 and called a few hours before to try and change it to 5. They couldn't accommodate but suggested we could fit 3 people on the booth side and two in chairs. When we got there we all fit but a bigger table opened up and they didn't hesitate to move us. The service was amazing, I had the Nico cocktail and it was so good! Food was very yummy. Quarantine Day 13: The stars somehow aligned for me today. My UberEats order somehow arrived a full 45 minutes before it was expected to. The restaurant must have turbo prepped and I had an incredibly speedy driver. This meant that the food that I got was piping hot and fresh! I thought that the portion sizes of all the dishes were great. Pasta can be super filling...all those carbs! My main was the Pappardelle Ragu D'Anatra which was a ragu with duck. There was a lot of shredded duck chunks in the pasta which was awesome. The red sauce had a tangy finish which kept it from being too heavy. The pasta was cooked absolutely perfectly. I tried some of my boyfriend's 'New School' Gnocchi. The gnocchi is a potato gnocchi which gave it a different texture than what I'm used to. The truffle-garlic sauce was really good. There were little itty bits of veg that included colourful peppers and corn. It almost made for a vegetable confetti that made for a pretty topping. I shared the Blackened Brussels with my boyfriend. I think the portion size could have fed 3-4 people with another side. The sauce was a little bit sweet on some brussels. The bitterness of the char on the particularly roasted pieces balanced them out nicely though. Finally I polished off an entire Budino di Pane Caramellato which is a caramel bread pudding by myself. This dessert probably could have been shared but it's good enough to hoard it to yourself even after an entire pasta. It smelled very heavenly with cinnamon and caramel but the spice wasn't overpowering. The bread itself was actually very light which made it very easy to gobble up quickly. I find some bread puddings can be so sweet you can make it through them. This one wasn't like that at all. It came with 3 strawberry halves which were nice tangy refreshers but not entirely needed because of how well balanced everything else was. I really think Nodo Leslieville is my new favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto! read more

Was looking for a last minute Italian place in Leslieville and came across Nodo. I believe they're usually busy and have a long waitlist, but they happened to have a spot for my group of 4 given a short 10 minute wait. We ordered the Focaccia for our apps, and it was one of the best focaccia breads I've had in a while. Nice and fluffy, and was a nice prelude for the dinner. For mains, I ordered the Duck Pappardelle which was nice and light. The pasta noodles were nice and elastic, and the minced duck and sauce was flavorful, but not too heavy. The ambience was an added bonus. Would definitely come back/recommend for a nice date night. read more

Like most humans on this earth, I LOOOOOVE Italian food and am always game to try a new spot. I was visiting my boyfriend in Toronto & he planned a double date to meet some friends. They chose Nodo & I could NOT have been happier. This was a particularly hot day (fine with me as a native-Miamian) but the inside of the restaurant was SWELTERING! Apparently they were having issues with their A/C so we switched to outdoors. Although the host was pretty rude & haughty, all of the other employees more than made up for it. The drinks were just ok... While I do appreciate their strict policy of using only Italian spirits, after trying 4 different cocktails, I found that I was not in love with any of them. No worries! Now for the food... The food was absolutely spectacular! So I'm a little let down writing this. I'm a big Nodo supporter. I'm giving this a 3 which is pretty much a 2.5 I rounded up. We eat often at the st clair and occasionally the junction. This location is far less organized. No one knew what the others were doing. The staff need some training. No grated cheese was given on a takeout order and the person at the front didn't know where the food was. The food was sub par. Got dishes we picked up just a week earlier on st Clair and they were not as good. Pasta wasn't cooked properly and ingredients seems cheaper. I would say this was a 2-3 star food experience at best. And this is a chain that is typically a 5! It could have been a one off bad experience from some new staff. But I won't be returning to this location. Make the trip to hill crest. I had a week in Toronto and ended up here twice the food and service were so good. There is a reason there is a line and a wait list, this is some of the best Italian food in the city and that is saying something. I had the fettuccine carbonara on my first visit and it was melt in your mouth delicious. Get a side of Brussels sprouts - you will not regret it. I've been seeing a gradual decline with the quality from Nodo. But yesterday was a definite breaking point. I got the Burrata, Brussel Sprouts and Fettuccine Pomodoro. The Burrata was sour and had very obviously gone bad! I set it aside and dumped it. I figured I'd eat the other food, but ended up becoming terribly sick from it. We came here based on the highly rated reviews but also trusted recommendation of friends. Although I'm posting about a mediocre experience, I have to believe that we were just unlucky and it was a one-off. That being said, I have too many dearly loved Italian spots nearby for me to give this another, but hope everyone could at least give this place a chance and hopefully come out with better opinion than me! We were lucky to arrive on a Friday evening and be promptly seated with no wait time at a cozy little table for two. Overall a lively ambience and good service except for one MAJOR hiccup on part of our server and busser. More on that. We ordered two appetizers which were the most mediocre part of the meal. The four cheese fritters were literally just a bland fried bread with a plain ricotta/cream type cheese in the middle, with a side of prosciutto. The grilled octopus was less than tender and the whole dish was a little too charred and underwhelmingly seasoned. Because we didn't enjoy the apps we asked to pack them to go (I just hate wasting food and I wanted to save room for the entrees). The waitress packs them in an ENORMOUS brown paper bag and plops it smack in the middle of our table! Being a small cozy table there is literally NO ROOM for anything else! I look at my husband and we both chuckle, a little baffled. We didn't do anything at the time because there's nowhere else to put it and we figured they'll notice something is off when they come with our two entrees. So here come the entrées, duck ragu papardelle and l'americana pizza. Where will they place it all? Will they move the giant take out paper bag? Absolutely not. The busser finds a way. Awkwardly, she is able to have both of our entrees essentially dangling off of the table, and the paper brown bag is kind of sitting atop the plates only staying in place by being sandwiched by our waters. Mind you this is a tiny restaurant with narrow aisles and plates cannot be dangling off the table, not to mention they are not centered for us to be comfortably eating out of our entrees! It boggles my mind that she thought this is acceptable! We had hopes our waitress would ntlige but when she came she thought nothing of it either. Finally we asked if they could stow our take out until the end of the meal, which they did. We really should not have to ask though, especially given the tight quarters of the dining space! It is a service commonly offered to guests. This was the worst part of our meal: unenjoyable appetizers followed by complete and utter lack of common sense. Anyway about the food. The pizza crust I hoped would be airy and crispy, but instead was heavy and overly crusty. I also think we picked a bad pizza because the toppings were exactly like a supreme from Pizza Pizza (but better pepporini) with the green peppers and mushrooms essentially being unseasoned/raw toppings. Very disappointing pizza. Luckily the duck ragu papardelle was the one saving grace of the meal. We did not want to risk anymore disappointment and left without dessert. Went here Saturday night with my wife for dinner - waited about 20 mins at the bar for a table and were seated near the window, which had been rolled open for a wonderful atmosphere. Drinks: - Good selection of wine, reasonably priced - Not my favourite selection of beer but that's not what I came here for Food: - Fresh focaccia bread - great touch - Carpaccio was delicious appetizer - Picked one of the chefs selection pizza - delicious flatbread style - would've been better to have chilli oil for the crust - Caesar salad was excellent Atmosphere/service: - very busy and good vibe - considerate service - interior felt very comfortable and enjoyable - would've preferred they turned down the lights a tad but that's the only item on this front Overall - thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and meal and was reasonably priced. Highly recommend this spot and plan to come back soon. Great addition to the neighbourhood and hoping it will reverse the trend for this location. Came here on a referral date and was seated on the cute patio. We ordered the duck ragu pappardelle and Ruliano pizza and they were both soooo delicious!! The servings were both big enough to share. I was honestly sooo full, I felt like I was going to burst but sooo worth it. I will definitely be ordering both of these next time! I can't wait to go back and try their other locations too. Our issue is completely with the manager of this location. The manger was not wearing a mask. The rest of the staff were wearing masks and we thought it was odd that an individual in a leadership position would be demonstrating a lack of professionalism especially when this is mandatory. We wrote an email to the manager. He made an excuse for not wearing it and said he would send us a gift card. Months pass and no gift card. We followed up with this manager and have had no response. It is too bad because we our experience with this location is ruined because of the manager. read more

Last night I dined at Nodo in Leslieville with a few friends. The food was quite good although all of our pastas were lacking a bit of seasoning. Unfortunately, it was the atmosphere that was far more unpleasant. The manager/owner (not sure of his role) was hovering over all of the servers while they interacted with our table and the surrounding tables. He often raised his voice so my friends and I couldn't hear our own conversations. Our server was very nice but clearly very stressed out by his presence and constant checking in. It created a very uncomfortable environment for the guests. I hope this isn't always the case as I would like to return one day! read more

The "fritters" were literally dry bread with cream cheese and side of prosciutto? I am not sure how that classifies as a fritter. The special was a "saffron" risotto. The risotto was essentially an unflavoured basmati rice, 0 butter, 0 salt, extremely watery. Truly bad. Worst experience I've ever had ordering food on Uber Eats. Brussel Sprouts were burnt, potatoes and mussels undercooked, pasta was stale and chicken had no flavor.
