I can see why this place may get lower ratings for its lack of decor and echo-y setting, but I'm giving 5-stars because I got the BEST full set of my life here. My natural nail beds are a little crooked and I have typically had issues with nail techs applying nails to highlight how crooked they are... but the young man who did my set was SO meticulous and neat, these nails are the nicest I've ever had! It took quite a while (roughly and hour and 15) for him to finish, but I honestly was so pleased with the results that I will absolutely come back and do it again. I went in to get gel tips. I asked for mid-length. They were $45 (I still tipped, of course) and made me real sad because I don't get my nails done often, and this set looked like I stuck chewed up bubblegum on my nails. My new technician said my nails looked "pregnant" they were so thick. They used so much glue that they took almost an hour to fully remove. If I'm being fair, I came in a little over an hour after close without an appointment. They definitely let me know how they felt about it. 0/10 would Not recommend. read more

I decided to give them a try even after reading all the reviews because I needed a cheap acrylic fill on a college students budget. I was so disappointed not only in what they did but also in how they treated me. When I went back to get my acrylics removed they started to rip them off instead of soaking them, so I asked for them to not do that and take the time to soak my nails. Their reaction was unheard of, they were so rude to me for simply asking for them to spend a little extra time so that my nails wouldn't be damaged completely. Their salon is definitely not clean, their utensils don't look like they've been cleaned and there are little flies flying around everywhere. Just go somewhere else. This is NOT a high-end spa experience -Lucky Nail is the salon that regular working folks in Northampton go for regular mani-pedi service at an affordable price (under $40). Manis are lost lasting, and they offer regular manicure, gels, airbrushing etc. There is a row of 6 massage chairs waiting for pedicure clients. I haven't used it, but they also offer lip and brow waxing. The quality of the work is good, materials are sterilized, and the salon is clean and comfortable, if not luxurious. Walk ins are welcome -- if there is space on the schedule. The owner and employers are immigrant Asian-Americans, so this isn't a good place if you have strong prejudices against people with languages and accents other than American English. If you are looking to be pampered, choose one of the pricier spas. If you want to be impeccably groomed at an affordable price, I'd recommend Lucky Nails. read more

Not bad, but not the best. I've been here many times, and it's nice when you just need a quick, cheap ($25) not too terrible-looking, gel manicure. They've cut my cuticle a few times, but I never got any horrible infections from that, so it could be worse I guess? I actually enjoy going into a place, asking for a simple one-color gel mani, and then not needing to interact with the person really beyond that, and I get exactly that here. They don't really pay attention to you, they just go through the motions and paint the nails, and that's fine by me. When I stopped in at Luckys Tuesday night I was told they were too busy. The owner offered me a slot with Jenny later that evening at 5:30. I agreed and she put me in the book. Imagine my surprise when I showed up for my appointment and the girl at the desk asked me to take a seat. Confused as to why Jenny was elbow deep in a deluxe pedicure- I was brushed off with the excuse "we only have two people that can do fills tonight". Why did I make an appointment and come back!?! I had a good experience here on a Friday night when they gave me a pedicure after a busy week on my feet. No complaints.

This use to be my go to salon, I even went to them before they moved to their current location (use to be in Roundhouse plaza). I haven't been there in years since moving away, and I don't remember the salon being so dirty. The first thing I noticed was nothing was put on cuticles for soaking, so no pushing back the extra skin that forms on the nails, just got them soaked in plain cold water. Next she pulled out a nail file that she had to bang off nail dust. Nail dust from other people, kind of gross. The nail buffer had white marks all over it so it wasn't new. When she did the cuticles she pulled the metal tool out of a random drawer, not sealed in anything, so you know it hasn't been sanitized. Though the circles did look good it felt like she was pulling them instead of just clipping them. The nail shape and polish came out okay. Only get a 20 second run down at the end. What is worrying me now is under my thumb nail is extremely painful and is throbbing. Was not like that before I went into the salon so let's hope for the best. read more

Went here a few times because it's convenient and you don't need an appointment. Will not be going back. Not all nail techs are the same. Today, however, I was more dissatisfied with my experience than usual. All the instruments were dirty and rusty, not properly cleaned that's for sure and on top of it, he did a horrible job with the manicure itself - very uneven color among other things. Normally I don't publicly shame businesses BUT I can't help myself this time. When I first went to Lucky Nails in Northampton they charged me $30 for acrylics; which is totally reasonable. They do an okay job. The following few times, they charged me $50. I thought it was weird that they so drastically increased the price but I kept going for the convenience of it. Two days ago I went back and I had a nail tech I'd never had before and she filed my skin off in two places. Frankly, she also couldn't paint nails to save her life. they charged me $65. Roughly handling, rushed, and a poor job: For years, I went to Lucky Nails, but no longer. These days the nail techs don't seem interested in providing an excellent service-- rather, they want to get customers in and out. The result: a sloppy job with uneven coats of polish or edges of the nails missing polish. The final straw was how repeatedly careless the nail tech was with the sharp tools. Made an appointment over a week out. Takes me 45 minutes to drive there. She tells me that she won't take me. And that it's too busy. (It was not.) The woman that I normally see was done with her customer at 6.30pm and went in the back room to avoid me. The salon closes at 7.30pm. There was more than ample time to do a quick color change. Since it was for two appointments, I still waited for my friend to do her nails and it took over 2 hours for a gel manicure and pedicure that came out bumpy and crooked. Most of the staff here is extremely friendly and they all do a great job. I usually go in the middle of the day and never have a problem with walking in without an appointment. I have gone around the 5 o'clock hour before and they had to turn a few walk ins away because it was so busy. So I went to lucky nails in northampton for my birthday and got the shellac. 2 days letter my color polish went from purple to gray. So I went back to redo my nails. The just put diffrent purple over the bad nail polish. It was So thick that the shellac popped right off my nails.I went back to fix again all this in a week and they said I have to pay. But I didnt end up paying. The owner looked up the nail polished used and it was on the list of bad and was discontinued. So again so not my fault. I went back today to get them done and the owner look at me and said no they will not wait on me becuase I am a problem and they waste money on me. And she does not feel comfortable doing my nails.
