I've had regular cleanings since my deep cleaning and never once was informed they were having issues with my insurance. They informed me a year later from when I got the service that insurance wasn't going to cover it. The insurance company said I didn't need a need a deep leaning even though I was informed I needed it and it was too late for me to submit a claim. I was no longer with the same employer which made it more difficult. Other dentists I've been to usually submit a claim prior to my service so I know what I need to pay out of pocket instead they do it after.

Dr. Mirkhan takes time to explain things and make sure that all of your questions are answered, never making you feel rushed. I have a complicated medical history and Dr. Mirkhan and her staff (Diane and Emi) took extra care to make sure I was safe, that procedure was safe for me and that I was not going to be allergic to anything they were using or going to give to me. Because of my complicated medical history, I did a lot of research to find a new dental surgeon after recently moving back from Chicago. As stated by other reviewers, Dr. Mirkhan has many awards for her outstanding work and has been recognized by her peers and the community for the same. I was charged for maintenance and a comprehensive evaluation on every visit, which is excessive and not in any way standard. I was charged for a deep cleaning without any local anesthetic, which amounts to a regular cleaning. And I was recommended to have an invasive surgery, and when I got second opinions by two other dentists and a periodontist, they all very confidently recommended against said procedure based on my XRs, probings and clinical picture and all three felt I was being recommended an unnecessary service.

Dr. Charlston gives a competent, honest assessment every time, doesn't ever criticize work done by another dentist and as I'm paying out of pocket, he keeps the bills very small/reasonable. He's not the 'salesy' dentist which seems to be predominant now. He gets on with it and I'm in and out of the office fast, every time. For example my cleaning and exam should have been fully covered as I have two dental insurances but not having explained the procedure I ended up having to pay out of pocket for an image that I am still not sure why I was charged for while my insurances cover cleaning and exam (2x exam/year with one and 1X exam/year with the other). I also have to send several follow ups to get an answer regarding my questions.
