Nolbert Auto Service Open on Sundays! I had stupidly put diesel fuel into my Toyota Tacoma. After towing it home and looking for shops open on Sundays I called Nolbert Saturday evening. He pick up the phone said bring it in tomorrow. They knew what to do and got the truck up and running in a few hours. My radiator was leaking bad on a Saturday night far from home. He was the only shop in the area open on Sunday and was able to somehow get the new radiator and install it that day so I wasn't stranded. All this and a very fair price. honestly I never leave bad reviews because i don't like hurting peoples feelings. But this place was just... I was recommended by another jeep owner, and after reading reviews on this location, I thought I might call in to ask about services. I called on the phone and left a voicemail, explaining how I had a leaking differential, which had been diagnosed by at least two other auto shop mechanics. I left my name and number, and finally ended up talking to someone who invited me to the shop to get my damage and estimate. The man on the phone seemed super kind and eager to help me out, I did live about 30 minutes away from this location, but his customer connection/service was so good I was willing to drive all the way there. I ended up going the next day, Only to pull up and have the men working there completely ignore me and disregard my existence. I tried to tell them that I was looking for Nobert, I also mentioned that I was expected and yet was still ignored. Once again, I am a super understanding person, but I was not greeted and felt completely neglected standing outside of this body shop for a solid 10 minutes, being completely ignored.The owner did end up calling me back after I just decided to leave and not give them my business, I ended up getting the job fixed in orange county. A simple greeting and comment concerning the wait time would've been efficient enough for me, but I will not give my business to people who don't even want me there. read more

What can I say... there are still good people out there. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner. My husband works crazy hours during summer. My truck was broken down, I couldn't get a decent quote for repairs. I called this shop the owner automatically tried to trouble shoot my car problems over the phone. Not only did he try to trouble shoot he explained every detail why he had me check certain areas. I told him we just had the fuel pump done and lost receipt from purchase. Napa parts will not excange without receipt. He advised me to call again, told me what to say!! I thought there is no way I tried twice! Nope he was right $338.00 part exchanged!!! I take him the part car done same day. His knowledge, customer service, staff, and heart are rare... I will definitely use their service again Prices are beyond reasonable. read more

Nolbert is the best! I took my Jeep Commander in because it was lagging hard when I pressed the accelerator. I was sure it was the transmission and that it was going to cost over $3000! I was scared to take it in. It's so hard to find a mechanic you can trust. Nolbert found out it was just a sensor. If you know about Jeep Commanders then you know they have a unique drive system that allows the wheels to sense slippage so the 4x4 is really aggressive. Nolbert knew about this and it only cost $150!!!!! So many shops would have just charged me for a new transmission and taken my money. Nolbert is an honest hard working guy who is also open on Sundays when people really need a place to be open because most of us work M-F 9-5. I have taken my car to Nolbert for years and have never been disappointed! He is the cheapest price, hands down, every time. I occasionally take my car a guy who's closer to my house, who also does really solid work, but it gets pricey. The other day he told me I had to fix two motor mounts and it was going to be $450! He also told me he couldn't get to it until Monday (this was a Thursday). I picked up my car and on Friday took it to Nolbert. I didn't tell him about the other quote I had gotten and he quoted me about $150 dollars less and said he could have it fixed by the end of the day. Needless to say, I went with Nolbert. Nolbert has been my dad's mechanic for over 4 years. He's always done the job right and always did A+ work on my dad's car. He's also a very friendly guy and that is very inexpensive. I came to him to fix my window bracket for my passenger window. That day he fixed it within 3 hours when he orderer it that day. For $300 i got a new bracket for my window and a new motor with a year warranty. You can't beat that. I will come back when i need more work on my car. read more

THIS PLACE IS DISHONEST! Do not trust this place. I WAS CHARGED FOR WORK THAT WAS NOT DONE. I had transmission problems. Nolbert said the transmission had to be completely rebuilt At 65,000 miles. He said he rebuilt the transmission. I said to fix what ever else needed done. I was out of town for a year and had loaned the car to my Grandson. When I got home and saw the bill. I had been charged for things that had just been done before I loaned the car such as: Front and rear brakes, Timing belt, Water pump, Fuel pump, Serpentine belt. So obviously he charged me for work that he did not do. He would not have replaced brand new brakes and other things that were obviously brand new and had nothing wrong with them. But, he charged me for them. How can I prove everything was not done a 2nd time? Everything was new, so I said nothing. At 93,000 miles the transmission was slipping and then the car stopped running because the flex plate broke. I had to have the transmission rebuilt by a reputable transmission place. They said the bell housing guides were left out by The previous shop! causing the flex plate to break!! The transmission had never been rebuilt before, as well. Only the rebuilt torque converter was installed and that was when the Bell housing alignment guides were left out. Now, I know: not only did he charge me for work that was not done but he charged me for rebuilding a transmission that was never rebuilt. I cannot let that go and not tell you. I didn't write a bad review when I saw he charged me for things that were never done. BUT CHARGING ME FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT WAS NEVER REBUILT, THAT IS TOO MUCH DISHONESTY. I HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF! I cannot In good conscience fail to let everyone know. read more

I actually live in Imperial Beach but on 11/28/14 I was in need of a shop to check and replace the Alternator in my car. I found a small Automovtive Repair Shop where I immediately felt welcome. Nolbert greeted me with a smile and a firm handshake then asked me a few basic questions about the problem I was having then had one of his mechanics test the charging system in my car. He then put together an estimate for the repairs that I feel was very reasonable and presented it to me. Nolbert's Auto Service is not one of these large "Multi Franchise" establishments but rather the small independent business that does good work. By that afternoon my car was back on the road running fine and in plenty of time to take my girlfriend shopping! I've been going to Nolbert for over a decade. He's honest and hard working and his mechanics think outside the box. One issue I had with my GMC was a loose rearview mirror. The cost to replace it was over $350 and would need to be ordered by the dealer and take several days to get it, but I was leaving the very next morning for a family road trip. He and his mechanic stayed late to solve the problem and his mechanic fixed it with a $2.00 hose clamp. Took the road trip, no issues with the mirror, works perfectly six months later.
