The staff was genuinely welcoming, you could tell they were trying their best to make the experience enjoyable. My curry dish, with added protein, arrived quickly, which I appreciated after a long day of outdoorsing. An efficient kitchen is nice! The curry had good flavor, but wasn't mind-blowing. The sauce was a bit heavy on curry paste, and it could have benefitted from more coconut milk to balance it out. Still, it was fair, just not the best I've had. The restaurant is near a legendary neighborhood, so you'd think it'd be a prime spot, but it was a bit lacking. One downside was a faint lingering odor around my table I couldn't quite place, not overpowering, but reminiscent of a used wet rag. It was a little off-putting. The environs could use some TLC. A fresh coat of paint, some tidying up, an eye toward improvement. I know some people would be more critical, but it gets three stars because the friendly service and efficient kitchen helped me overlook other issues. My wife and oldest ordered medium heat, and the server mentioned 'it's about the heat level of Sriracha.' I asked for mine hot and our youngest got mild. Forty minutes later the food came out. The medium dishes had a hint of spice, far less than Sriracha The 'hot' food had zero spice, exactly the same as the mild dish. If you tried both and were asked which was hot you would laugh at the question. I'd say there was less spice than flavor but there was no flavor to the dish. Not fresh, not seasoned, not good. Twenty minutes later the server came by. Since I hadn't eaten my dish I was asked if I wanted a box. I said no and let him know my dissatisfaction with the spice and the overall taste. He said he can bring a spice tray. What?! We had been there an hour and everyone was finished. I said no but should have asked where the spice tray was when they made the dish. He walked away, the food remained. The woman who was also working in the front came by and also asked if I wanted a box, no thanks, we didn't like it, just take it please. She did and returned with the check, with the dish still on it, which I expected by the level of service. We paid and left, disappointed. Since the app mentions it ambience, it's ok. It reminded me of a low level chinese restaurant in the 80's, koi fish and all, at the end of a run down strip center.
