Feels kinda weird actually having a good experience... but I have to give credit where it's due. Lube Express took care of me! I arrived at 8 am in the morning, and the owner came out to greet me. I was just here for an oil change, and he was able to get me right in. Some observations. When Mike, the owner, came out to talk with me, he was clean, well spoken, and professional. You can tell just talking to him that he's a straight shooter, and runs a tight shop. I sat in the customer lounge, which was clean, well organized, and actually smelled nice. The mechanic came out just once to verify my choice of oil, and didn't try to upsell me any nonsense. I hate when those other quicky-lube places try to tell me my PCV valve needs replacing, because "it's pretty dirty." Those amateurs don't even know what a PCV valve does, much less when it needs replacing. None of those shenanigans here. Another observation: You can tell these guys have their stuff together. I took a good look into the shop, and they have their tools laid out in a very organized way. The shop is also clean, even the floor. It speaks well of these guys. I appreciate an organized shop. All in all, this was a 5 star oil change experience. Nice Work Mike, Paul, and crew! I will be coming back for my next oil change!

Well when you get there it's a bait and switch. The $99.99 service I chose online turns out to be $200 because it's a European car. I was past due on the oil change and it was late in the day so I continued with the service because I didn't have many options at that point since I work during the week and won't be able to get it done for another week if I passed on it. This is exactly what they are counting on. Needless to say, I will not return there. No transparency in the pricing and once you're there they know it's 50% chance you'll give in because the appointment is made, you've driven there already and you need it done. That's just not cool whatsoever. I hate when businesses can't be honest from the get go. You lose my business plain and simple. I thought I was saving by not taking it to the dealer, but actually paid more. I should've just gone to the dealer service dept. The icing on the cake was having to sit in the waiting room listening to propaganda fox fake news. Definitely not going back.

Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

The only reason I'm leaving this review is because the manager's attitude was rude & Im glad I didn't go to their recommended mechanic because birds of a feather flock together plus so far all the shops I been to in NJ does is fix somethings improperly, break things that wasn't broken then say it could be multiple issues causing the problem that didn't exist until entering their shop....Its not even about the money because I always pay in full & sometimes upfront thinking guys are as stand up as I am as a paying customer but NO always to my surprise they're sabotages with a smile & its frustrating when you play your part upping the money but all they're just doing is looking for or creating ways to keep their hands in my pocket or pass me around like I'm some cash cow because I own a luxury vehicle......I need the contact to the mechanic task force who investigates these types of injustices because I'm the one paying tens of thousands for their mistakes.....I guess saving money isn't an option in NJ when repairs are often done carelessly....

I would like to start by saying that the manager of the Bloomfield location has been respectful,…read moreunderstanding, and professional every time I have spoken with her. The reason I am giving this location a poor review is due to upper management and their complete lack of accountability regarding the damages caused to my vehicle. In April 2026, I received an oil change from Mavis on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. In May 2026, while driving, my check engine light and oil warning light suddenly illuminated. Moments later, the vehicle shut off completely and had to be towed to a mechanic. The first mechanic advised me that the vehicle had lost all of its oil due to a missing drain plug and informed me that I would likely need a new engine. The vehicle was then towed to Autoland Jeep the same day, where dealership mechanics diagnosed the exact same issue: the drain plug was missing, the vehicle had no oil, and the engine required replacement. Autoland Jeep further advised me to contact whoever performed the oil change because the drain plug appeared to have been improperly installed or possibly left "hand-tight." I was also informed that something as simple as hitting a pothole could have caused the plug to loosen if it had not been properly secured during the oil change service. The Bloomfield store manager was contacted immediately on May 13, 2026, the same day the vehicle was towed. She advised me she would follow proper protocols and requested that I come into the location for a copy of my invoice as proof of maintenance because it could not be emailed. Due to the lack of communication from upper management, I emailed csg@mavis.com outlining my complaint and providing documentation regarding the damages and repair estimates. Later that evening, I received a call from a regional manager stating he would investigate the matter. However, in the days that followed, the regional manager continuously refused to accept any accountability on behalf of the company despite two separate mechanics diagnosing the exact same issue. I also provided two separate videos from both mechanics showing the undercarriage and confirming the missing drain plug. During conversations with the regional manager, he repeatedly antagonized me and implied that someone else may have been underneath my vehicle. I explained that I have documentation for every oil change completed by Mavis, park my vehicle in a private parking garage with available surveillance footage, and never had any visible oil leaks because the oil had been caught in the plastic undercarriage shield -- something clearly visible in the video provided by Autoland Jeep. Despite all of this evidence, Mavis still refused to accept responsibility. At that point, complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. On May 26, 2026, I received another call from the regional manager, this time with his supervisor on the line. During that conversation, the supervisor suggested that "maybe there was a recall" and stated they did not understand how a drain plug could suddenly go missing. Both individuals were advised yet again that two separate mechanics independently diagnosed the exact same issue. Additionally, I informed them that I have always been notified immediately of any recalls involving my vehicle through the dealership. On May 27, 2026, the regional manager informed me that he personally went to Autoland Jeep to inspect the vehicle. A revised invoice was then issued by Autoland and addressed directly to Mavis Auto Center at the request of Mavis upper management. Shortly afterward, the regional manager asked if I wanted the vehicle towed to one of their own locations for a third opinion. I declined. He then continued with antagonizing questions such as, "If we damaged your vehicle, wouldn't you want it towed to us?" and "Why didn't you tow it to us in the first place?" I explained that the vehicle was towed directly to a Jeep dealership because it is a leased Jeep Grand Cherokee and, due to the damages caused by Mavis, the engine failure is not even covered under my warranty. Autoland Jeep's service manager has fully cooperated with Mavis throughout this process and even created updated documentation specifically requested by their upper management. Despite this cooperation and the evidence provided, Mavis continues to delay accountability and prolong the repairs to my vehicle. As of today, I have been without my vehicle since May 13, 2026. This situation has created a major financial burden due to ongoing lease payments, rental vehicle expenses, and the inability to use my own vehicle because of negligence during a routine oil change service. This entire experience has been extremely unprofessional, stressful, and unacceptable.

For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks.

I still get my car washed there, but I won't ever go back for detailing or anything else like that.
