An unexpectedly large establishment that boasts lots of space for eating, dancing and entertaining.

I can best describe this restaurant as a dinner and jazz lounge. Upon entering there are larger than life photos of R&B, Soul, Jazz and rock singers lining the walls. Really good music played over the sound system. There's also a stage at one corner of the restaurant, a full bar and booths and tables throughout the spacious restaurant. I ordered the grilled shrimp, rice and peas and Mac n cheese. (I know, too many starches!). The grilled shrimp was very tasty, the Mac n cheese was so so and the rice was dry. I had yummy bread pudding with ice cream for dessert. my Mom had grouper fingers broccoli and cheese and mashed potatoes. Both enjoyed their meals. and my dad had fried chicken wings, Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. I'm interested in coming back on a Saturday for a live jazz set which is from 8pm - 11pm. There's a Sunday jazz brunch from 11am - 4pm also. I will definitely be back since the restaurant is new and I'm sure they're still working out the kinks. Awesome NEW hot spot in North Miami!! This weekend was the grand opening! I love their motto "Where Class Meets Soul." Happy I was able to check it out and I will definitely be coming back! I've been telling everyone about this jazz restaurant! We really needed something like this! The ambiance was elegant with a touch of Jazz. The live band was great! The food was good too, especially the shrimp with mashed potatoes! The place is spacious with lots of seating throughout and even a dance area if you're feeling groovy! They did such a nice job decorating the place, huge pictures of classic iconic artists on the walls, dance floor and band section, plus a big bar! Don't miss this one! I'd say great for a big group or perfect for a romantic date. read more

Back for the food. Fried broccoli wasn't frozen it was freshly battered just needed a tad bit more salt and a little more time in the fryer was a little soft. Veggie pasta, chicken pasta were large portions so enough to share definitely need a to go box. Chicken and waffles were decent nothing spectacular. Service was slow, chicken and waffles took 40 minutes to come out so my friend had to eat alone we couldn't wait. Overall still a decent spot. read more

This restaurant will be closing soon, and it's such a shame because it has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! The lack of professionalism is unheard of. I hosted an event there, and after going back and forth with the event planner multiple times, and sending in a proposal, I was not given what I was told. Also the venue was empty, so I basically had to pay them to sit down. I was told I was being charged an accommodation fee, but if there is no one in the restaurant, there is nothing to accommodate. The drinks and food were mediocre, the DJ was decent, and the servers were ok. All in all, it's in your best interest to take your coins to another venue. I try to support black businesses, but I do not support bad service. read more

I've given this place three tries ! Three strikes and you're out . The service is always horrible and the food lacks pizazz . Each time I've been , they don't have anything that's On the menu. One time they even ran out of lettuce !The last time I was there was on a Thursday night - I thought the service and menu would be easy to execute .. it wasn't! Before I ordered, I asked the waitress if there was anything that they didn't have that was on the menu ? She assured me that they had everything on the menu. My cousin ordered a brownie with ice cream - 20 minutes later the waitress informed us They didn't have any. I ordered a quesadilla and it was served by itself.... no salsa , no sour cream! Ordered a beer and the bartender said there was no cold beer This place has so much potential .... I attended the NoMi fest yesterday and the after party was NoMi Bar and grill. This is a cool spot for food and dancing. We sat in VIP and was treated quite well. We were provided plates of food to include fried chicken wings, maybe fried ribs with curry chicken and rice and peas. Everything was pretty tasty. Rob Base provided a nice set doing a lot of our old school hip hop favorites. Had a good time and would go back again in the future. read more

Came here for a baby shower. Upon entering and setting up the cake (home made by me) I noticed ice a high school friend who is a the manager. Well they had the area we used nicely organized and the food was set up really nice. The staff here really catered to our needs and wants. Well the initial foods were pasta salad and meatballs. The pasta salad was amazing and well seasoned. The main courses included bbq chicken, green beans, Mac and cheese ( old school), and seafood rice. I will recommend everyone to go and try the food here. In the evening they have a live band and latter part of the evening there is a dj. went here on a saturday for a birthday dinner!! as they promote it as "grown & sexy saturdays" walked into a spacious, clean, and nice place. there was a live band playing which gave the place a really cool vibe !! i found my party of about 25 people and set. the waitress immediately came over and started getting drink orders !! the drinks came out fast and were good !! because we had a large party we had to order off the party menu... which wasnt a problem because they offered plenty of items to choose from... while waiting for the food, we ordered a hookah, listened to the live band and the DJ ( when the band took a break) and did some dancing .. the food came out little by little i guess because it was so many of us ... but it was very GOOD and every one enjoyed their food !! overall great place, great music, great food, good drinks and good atmosphere!! will totally be returning!! read more

We arrived around 12 pm and the place was empty so we were able to be seated right away. We were the only ones in there. The service was good. We ordered the "buffet" brunch. It's not buffet per say but a pre-selected menu with items that you can order with no limit. The unlimited mimosas and sangria is an additional $15. My friend and I had the shrimp and grits (the shrimps were very small), the buttermilk deep friend chicken and waffles (the chicken tender was well seasoned and fried to perfection. SN: if you order the regular chicken and waffles on the regular menu it comes with chicken wings instead of the buttermilk deep fried chicken tender.), pan friend sausage, egg and cheese omelette, and the fish bites and yellow rice (didn't care for this dish). Great up a coming soul food restaurant. The chefs knows what they are doing in the kitchen and bar tender gives tender, "extra" love,and care at the bar. He's a thirst quencher all by himself . The waitress was very pleasant and attentive to each and everyone of us. The atmosphere exudes SOUL with the array of portraits of soul singers past and present. 1 Star only because I could not give it 0 stars and give a review. First off, the service was slow and our waitress seemed uninterested. I was there with a group totaling 6. I ordered the shrimp and peppers starter, it was barely cooked shrimp with Buffalo sauce. For my entree I ordered the grouper fingers. The fish was old and spoiled. I sent back my entree, and explained to the waitress my issue. They removed the entree and still brought out my bill with the starter on it. No concession made for my upset stomach and headache. One of the persons from my group explain that she had a similar experience with their collar greens. Needless to say she didn't order anything tonight. I will never go again! read more

We got there and sat at the top near the stage where a great band was performing tonight. Singers were on point also! We noticed nobody had menus on the table. Weird since it's a bar and grill. We waited for almost 40 minutes! Not 1 person asked did we want anything to drink let alone offer us a menu. Only reason we stayed that long was for the music. As a Black man I'm very disappointed that establishment that appears to be Black owned have such horrible customer service. Not sure if we'll be back. I heard a lot of great things about this place, but I was very disappointed. The service was terrible, and we had a waitress with an attitude. My food came out cold, and when I asked for them to correct it, they re fried the same wings which made them extra greasy. I asked for a drink which took 30 minutes to come to the table. I never received my double order of wings nor did my friend receive her drink. The band was horrible. But the DJ was okay. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I love the ambiance of this place. Me and some friends went on a Sunday for brunch. They had a live jazz band which was awesome. However, the food was significantly overpriced. We thought it was buffet style but we had to order from a menu. The price was unlimited for $35 and was not worth it. We could only order one item from the menu and could get as much as you wanted, but couldn't get any of the other items. The food was not seasoned and the waffles tasted like they bought it from the freezer section in the grocery store and popped it in the toaster. I will go here for the music only but the food sucks. I'm all for supporting black businesses but they need to do something about the menu. read more

First off this restaurant is an amazing beautiful place to bring the family for brunch lunch or dinner, the scenery was breath taking you'll get a vibe as if you were in a different state when you just in the heart of north Miami. Happened to be my first time dining here with family just for a Saturday night vibe and everyone was so pleasant and kind the bartender (who name I didn't get) made our drinks with love, I low key felt the liquor kick in slowly lol but yeah this restaurant is great for dinner parties or just vibe (girls night out) I notice on Saturdays there's a dj in there playing great jams. The food is DELICIOUS especially that I'm a foodie person and picky I order something simple "Chicken Breast Dinner with an side of yams and yellow rice" when I said mouth watering I mean it everyone enjoyed there meals my next visit I plan on order the fried ribs everyone says it was fingalicking good so I be there soon... read more

Food was good, drinks were okay. If you want to get buzzed you'd have to buy a couple. We had a big party of 30 or more with only one server. But the server was awesome. Mac & Cheese was so so good. The highlight was definitely the fried fish. The strawberry Hennessy Margarita was way too sweet. Just order a regular Hennessy margarita, unless you like sweet drinks. read more

I give two stars only because this establishment has created a positive venue for young and older artists to show their talent, and the talent we saw was pretty amazing. I'm sure the stars would have been higher if we had any type of service. My husband and I drove all the way from Broward, for a date night, to enjoy some, what we heard, good food and drinks l, but instead we sat there for 40 mins without anyone bringing us a menu, we didn't even get water. 40 minutes!!!! If it weren't for the beautiful voices that entertained us, we would have left 15 mins in. This was my first and sad to say will probably be my last time going. A new soul food spot on 125th. Huge, nicely decorated space that reminds me of similar spots back home in Philly. Menu is simple but has the staples--bowls with grits, heaping scampi with shrimp, chicken, sausage or veggies, sides of yams and greens... But the five stars is really for the warm welcome and amazing service. The folks are just super kind and personable. Hype to come back for live music (and hoping they bring in a DJ to spin some quality hip hop on the weekends to give North Miami a much-needed dance spot!). We went there for Sunday brunch. Half of the food was not out yet for the buffet. I don't eat meat so the buffet was not worth it for me, just got shrimp and grits off the menu. Food was average at best. Grits were so bland that I had to end up remaking them myself at the table. I had to add salt, pepper, butter and cheese to make it decent. Service was horrible. Not because our waitress was bad but because there was only two ppl serving the entire restaurant. We asked to speak to the manager and explained to him that we weren't happy with the service. He explained that he fired two staff that morning and he was short handed but I was like then you get on the floor and start serving. It's your business make it run properly. Definitely won't be back and would recommend it until they get their sh**t together. Music was cool and he did give us a discount on our bill but still wasn't worth the drive. It took forever for me to get a refill on the so called bottomless mimosas. My friend was pregnant and was starving and it took over 45 mins for her shrimp and grits to come out. The waitress came and apologized and said something went wrong but honestly I think she just forgot to put it because she was managing the entire restaurant. She did inform us it was first day but why didn't she have a notepad to write the orders. A portion of the food took about 40 mins to arrive at the table. The remaining food(fries) was delivered after the initial food was consumed. Also drinks were ordered and never made it to the table. The establishment needs to learn time management especially when customers are spending their money. There are so many options out here. This is probably my fifth trip to NOMI, and aside from a couple of glitches the first times, the other three have been great. The coffee for starters has been changed. The first couple of times it tasted like Sanka and was too strong. My last two visits I could tell the difference and even asked for seconds. I normally have breakfast which is always good. More of you should return to give breakfast a try. Today however, I chose another option. I ordered an appetizer of Fried Ribs w/special sauce. The serving size was enough for me to offer those sitting behind me to have some, and two obliged. They were fried perfectly, still remained tender with a crunch. The sauce was also delicious. I also ordered a Patty Melt with fries, which was great! I enjoyed my meal which was accompanied by a steady stream of customers, a great playlist of R&B music, a customer who began to sing along to Gerald LaVert, who sounded identical to him, and a poster of Prince, who shares my late husband's bday today! The only reason this place gets 1 star is because of atmosphere. The service is THE WORSE. It takes FOREVER to get your food, drinks, a hello from a waitress, water, a fork, a knife, everything. And dont expect to eat at the same time as everyone else at your table. Not happening. The service is horrible and it's a shame because this is such a nice establishment. read more

Where can I begin, 1st this is a very nice, if you want to listen to good music on Fridays and have a drink. I had my Birthday Party here on March 22 boy oh boy! My party happened thanks to my hostess. Other than that dealing with NoMi event planner Desiree was a nightmare. She has no people skills at all!!!. The food was horrible!!! So much food was left over that speaks for the food. When you have an establishment the management supposed to make sure their inviting to customer's. Especially the event coordinator/event planner(Desiree) she made it seems like she was doing me a favor. Needless to say I didn't deal with her for to long. The bartender's are good they know how to make some drinks and the DJ knows how to rock the crowd. The decor is nice but the food and management sucks!! read more
