They advertise a "special" for tues/thursdays for blowdry/cuts etc. for 25-30 but do not honor that price. I got a blowdry/flat iron/shampoo for 45$~! Some "special"! i think the stylist just charged me what she thought she should get including tip! The stylists all talk in Russian or another language and laugh at you most likely talking about you while they are working. I did not feel welcome or comfortable here and was very displeased with the rate I ultimately got. Not a place to go unless you are of their culture at least from what I've experienced. I don't know why they're reviewed so high. Remember- you get what you pay for. The prices are good, but I didn't leave with what I asked for. Coming to Nona's reminded me that if I want awesome hair, I need to pay for it. The way I feel about salons, is I don't care what you do to get me to leave with an awesome haircut, as long as I leave with an awesome haircut. I don't care if you have to cut my hair upside down. Were they nice? yes. Did they fit me into their busy schedule? yes. Did they start my hair on time and do it in a reasonable amount of time? yes. Did they have chocolate in the waiting area? yes. But will I ever go there again? no. They cut off more than I asked for. I had to repeat what I wanted a few times. I showed a few pictures of what I wanted and it didn't come close. The highlights had roots when I left. So it already looked like a month old dye job. The haircut was ok, but not what I wanted. I think that the hairdressers have outdated taste, so it might be a good place for older women. One girl that was getting her hair done asked for them to re-touch her roots. Afterwards she told them that the color didn't match, and they insisted that it did and it was just the lighting. Another girl got her hair dyed orangey-red, and it looked like box color. come here if your other option is supercuts. read more

Hello everyone, I walked into this hair salon in hopes of finding a better hair dresser than the gentlemen I've been going to for years. I found Nona's on yelp and decided to give it a try since I saw they had good yelp reviews. I went in on on 1/3/16 which was a Sunday. I waited about 30 mins in the waiting area because Heidi was the only one working that day and she was with a different client. I didn't have a problem with waiting because I didn't make an appointment. I thought it was pretty unprofessional on the management that they would only have one person working. She was rushing through the other clients hair and my hair as well. She sat me down on a chair and I began to explain to her what color I wanted, I specifically told her I wanted a red wine color and she didn't know what colors to use so she had to call someone to ask if they had that color. So she came up with the color and she then put some lotion on my face so the color wont stain my skin WITH THE SAME DIRTY GLOVES SHE WAS USING ON THE OTHER CLIENTS HAIR! That's very unsanitary and ridiculous! She then proceeded to put the dye on my hair, she started with my roots and when she got to my ends she realized my hair was dark to begin with. She then asked me if I've ever dyed my hair before and I told her yes. She then says,"Why didn't you tell me?" Excuse me? You were suppose to examine my hair first before you did anything to it, THAT'S YOUR JOB AS A "HAIR DRESSER" don't blame me because you failed to do that! At the end of it all my roots were red and my ends were dark! The other client wasn't happy with her hair also, and Heidi kept insisting that she liked it and it looked good. After being there for about two hours I thought it was time to finally leave. Heidi didn't want me to go because she wanted to fix my hair or else her boss would get mad at her. (which is what she told me) She ended up charging $20 dollars for a mess I could've done on my own. I gave this l stars because beside all of that Heidi was very nice to myself and the other client. read more

They used cold water to wash my hair, despite feeble protests. There was no "finishing" to the style. The site is generally unkempt and cluttered. First I must say that Nona and the ladies that work there are very nice, it's a nice place, good prices BUT I mean the first time I went there after other salon basically burned my scalp, I asked for a bright red. I got it, it was great, it looked awesome. It wasn't till I got home that I noticed some part of my roots were still black. I didn't make a big deal about it. She charged me 85 dollars great. The second time I went there, I specifically told her "make sure you dye my roots, cause they were black last time" she said ok. The first time she used only one color for all my hair, no wonder my freaking roots were still Black, this time the lady used a weird mix that burned like a bitch. I tolerated it because she said it was gonna go away. It did, great. Then she used some other color for the rest of my hair. The end result looked awesome, everyone there loved it. Why the hell did she ended up charging me 130 dollars this time? Cause she did the same exact thing that before but properly! Like you're supposed to dye the fucking roots correctly, right?! I didn't say anything cause last time I didn't tipped her that well. So now after washing my hair for 2, 3 times. My hair looks ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. My roots are so red, like a shiny red, it looks like fucking fake hair I swear. AND the rest of my hair is orangey red. It's so obvious they don't know what the hell they are doing! The two colors look so different, they do not blend well, it's like paint on my hair! Nona constantly has to tell the other ladies what to do because they don't have a clue AT ALL! And I don't think she has a clue either. Not for color at least. Seriously though, people in Mexico charge waaaaay less for a much better job. Do your job properly, you're getting paid! This place is great!! I came in with my roomate to get my eyebrows threaded and left with whole new hair color! Nona's staff is very friendly and professional. I had been contemplating dyeing my hair but was afraid to add chemicals to my natural hair, but I wanted to cover some grey hairs creeping in. Nona suggested the non chemical dye and showed some colors that she felt would look good on my skin tone. It was exactly what I had in mind. She said she could squeeze me in and do right then. Having natural hair I am really pciky about who I let handle my hair because often they lack the experience on how to deal with the thickness and delicate nature of my hair...but Nona seemed really knowlegable and confident with handing my hair so it made me less nervous about he whole thing. Anyway, the process was really fast they conditioned my hair and the color came out amazing! I have gotten so many compliments about my new color. Then I got my eybrows threaded, which I am not fan of because others have grabbed my skin and hurt me. The lady who did my threading was the most precise, and gentle threader ever! I called Nona's looking for someone to help me out with my extensions since my hairdresser of 2 years recently went to one day a week..a day I can't make it. Not only did Nona spend a fair amount of time on the phone with me, she offered to meet me at 6:30 the next night and get my hair taken care of. Because of the situation my extensions had been in weeks longer than they should have so it wasn't a quick fix but she never skipped a beat and sent me out of there looking and feeling great! I have been going to Nona's for a few years now and have always been super pleased. Nona is incredibly creative and is able to deliver exactly what I have wanted. Just recently, I did the Bio Ionic hair straightening with Mary and Nona and I LOVE it! My hair is now super straight (no frizz at all) , shiny and healthy. I can literally leave my house with wet hair and once it dries...it looks like I flat ironed my hair. As a busy mom of a toddler, I don't have time to blow dry my hair. This treatment has literally saved me so much time and I am able to sleep in a bit longer and always look put together. I no longer wear my hair in a ponytail and have gotten so many compliments.
