I called and asked if someone specializes in cutting curly hair. Rosie said yes. I came in, from my POV she wasn't even going to wash my hair before cutting. Any other salon I have gone to washes hair first before putting me in a salon chair. I asked do you wash the hair? She said yes. Keep in mind I've never been charged for a hair wash because that comes with the haircut service. After when I pay she said it costs to shampoo my hair. So she didn't even condition it? I asked for a blowout she wanted to charge me another 60 +the 10 for just shampooing my hair. So I said it's fine you can leave my hair instead of that it's out of my budget. I came home and my sister was like it's uneven. I re-wet my hair and it was uneven. I honestly will not be coming back here. I want to start by saying that I never planned on writing this review. I went in for a haircut yesterday as my very first time and I came out with the haircut in the photos. I went home and checked the hair cut. I immediately began to cut it myself because prior to this I had always cut my hair at home (i went to cosmetology school a few years ago) but I thought that I should go to a salon for once since I'm tired of cutting my own hair. anyway, everyone there was very nice even on the phone and the guy who cut my hair was very nice as well. after I finished cutting my own hair, I decided to call the owner, Rosie since I had seen her phone number on Google reviews and she seemed very nice on the responses to other bad reviews online. I told her my name and she confirmed that I had been there in the morning according to the records of their appointment book and I asked her if I could send her the pictures of the haircut and she said yes. She wanted me to come in to get my hair fixed. So I confirmed that I would go in on Thursday, but not for a haircut! I told her over text that I had already cut my own hair and I told her that I just wanted a refund and she told me that she couldn't give me a refund since I already fixed my own hair. I know that she could've given me my refund if she wanted to since she's OWNER. I understand that she wants to keep the money in her salon, but I don't think its up to her whether I want to fix it myself, go to a different salon, or get my haircut at her salon again after having it ruined there. I do want to point out that instead of writing a review to begin with I decided to contact her in a very discreet manner so that we could resolve this issue. But if this is how they treat their nice clients then I don't wanna know how they treat their more difficult clients. Yikes!! I am only writing this review so that people can know what my first experience there was like. I essentially paid $45 plus tip to cut my own hair! I'm not really picky with my hair and I even told the guy to just cut it. However, he thought was best but the haircut in the photo speaks for itself! After coming here for years, I'm sad to say my most recent experience was disappointing. I normally see Moises on Wednesdays and I make sure to always schedule with him since I prefer to see HIM! But this past time my appointment was disregarded. I showed up 20 minutes before my scheduled time and Moises unapologetically had someone else cut my hair because he had another customer. Completely disregarding the fact that I had an appointment. His attitude towards the situation was dismissive and this was the first time I witnessed his lack of care for his customers and level of professionalism. Im very particular with who I have cut my hair because of past experiences, stylists have never really cut my hair the way I've asked. I believed I had developed a trusting and nice relationship with Moises but now I see I was wrong. Im heavily disappointed with this experience and even more so because the guy who cut my hair couldn't even get a trim down correctly. My hair was left choppy and I'm glad I didn't ask him to do more. $40 for a botchy trim cut is ridiculous and Im definitely staying away from this shop from here on out. I've only got my hair cut here twice. I'm new to the area and relied on yelp to find this place. The first time I went it was when they just opened. The woman did a great job and I was happy with my haircut. Today was the second time and it was a disaster. They were busy and it looked like it was just a man and woman working. The man sat me down immediately and I told him I wanted my hair cut shorter. He didn't ask for how short or anything like that and started working. Trusting that he knew what he was doing, I let him continue. That should've been red flag #1. One thing to note through this review is that I wear glasses so during a haircut I take them off and can't see what the person is doing. While he was cutting my hair, the woman started speaking to him in Spanish. I understand very little Spanish, but it sounded like she was telling him that he shouldn't have started cutting my hair because another customer, who was already sitting and waiting for something to finish, would be ready before he finished with me. That should've been red flag #2. He continued to cut my hair quickly and then pulled out the mirror. I told him I wanted it shorter before and was shocked when I put on my glasses and he basically just cleaned it up. It wasn't shorter at all. I told him more specifically what lengths I wanted and he said ok and started cutting again. Red flag #3 and I should've just given up on the haircut at this point. He cuts and cuts some more and pulls out the mirror so I put on my glasses again. My sideburns, which were perfectly fine and I didn't ask him to touch, were butchered. He never asked me if I wanted them cut and just got rid of most of them. To make things worse, they were horribly uneven. At this point I was frustrated and just told him I'll take it as is so he couldn't make it worse. I paid and left. I went to my car and looked at it some more and it just bothered me so much I went back in to have them try to fix it. The guy was already washing another customer's hair, probably the one he was supposed to work on when he started cutting my hair. He came back out and claimed there was nothing wrong with it. The woman looked and told him what to cut. He cut and "fixed" it and pulled the mirror out again. I put on my glasses to check and It was no better. I was so frustrated at this point I said to just forget it. As I got up, the woman who was cutting another customers hair on the other side then told me that he couldn't cut my hair because my glasses were in the way and if I took them off he would be able to cut it properly! I didn't even know what to say to that and left. To recap: they rushed my haircut, barely cut it the first time, botched it so bad the second time, claimed there was nothing wrong with it, did a horrible job "fixing" it and then blamed me for the guy not being able to cut my hair because I have glasses (that were not on at all during the haircut). I really liked this place the first time I went, it's a shame it was so horrible the second time. Now I have to find another place for next time. read more

For $20, it's a good place to get a quick cut. Usually I can walk in and be taken care of within 30 min, but I do often call and make a same day appointment so I don't waste any time. The haircuts are not fancy, and I'm usually done within 15-20min, but it's great for a simple trim to get rid of the dry ends. If they have someone there, they will do a rush job, though. I've had a bad cut one or twice from here, and yet I still come back just for the convenience. For my coloring and balayage touch up, I go to a better salon. read more

I wanted to get my hair washed ... Supercuts was an hour and a half wait.. not to mention I'm not crazy about their cus service. So my mom told me told go to the place a couple doors down... Metro !! I just got the worst haircut of my life from ROSA. She had a bad attitude from the beginning, arguing with me about the haircut I wanted. She had a customer waiting and did a rush job. She said she couldn't cut layers and wouldn't cut more than an inch. I kept begging her to cut more and she wouldn't. She acted exasperated the whole time and wouldn't blow dry or style my hair. Then I asked about getting my eyebrows waxed and she looked at the guy waiting and hesitated, clearing not wanting to do it, although she had agreed to do it only 10 minutes earlier. My hair has been cut (or styled) by Rosie since around 95ish when she worked a few doors down at Fantastic Sam's. After being butchered by one of Sam's unmotivated Cookie Cutter Hacks I specifically asked for Rosie (or two others by name). Because of Rosie's skill at styling & cutting she was a crowd favorite and eventually left, opening up a few doors down and took all her clients with her. I've been going to Rosie's (METRO HAIR) ever since and it's the same price I was paying at the previous place she worked (I'd rather support a small business than a large conglomerate any day of the week). Additionally, over the years, since I'm a spur of the moment type of person and never RSVP, I've been passed off to a few of the stylists that work for her and so far all four that have cut my hair did an awesome job, which tells me Rosie does some incredible quality control! My hair is super fine and if someone screws up it looks like clumps of hair are missing all over (which has Not happened once by anyone at Metro). Side note, about the two people that gave bad ratings on their review "Communication is the Key of Life"; you cannot just sit down and expect someone to read your mind on how you want your haircut and if you cannot explain what you want bring a picture of the Frohawk. read more

Rosie's is a family place. She is the sweetest, sometimes her kids come in and help her. Her brother also works there on certain days and he is great. If you call ahead, you won't have to wait long. Rosie is very charming, always smiling and joking. I've seen many families come in and bring their children. Kids listened to her, she had no problem giving them cuts. Now I'm no hair expert. I'm just a guy, likes to get his hair cut by a friendly person, who does a good job. So for the girls, you'll have to make your own call on this one. But I like Rosie's. She's friendly and knows what she's doing. I come in, 15 minutes later I'm out and i have a good hair cut. I know its good 'cause my wife actually said so. She never comments on my cuts unless they're bad... or really good. Costs me $13 for the cut and a few more for a tip. This is my new "regular" place, mostly because it's close to work, and they don't charge a fortune for a trim. I used to go to the Supercuts right next to Rosie's (please note: it has a different name now, but it's a few steps west from Supercuts so you can't miss it), but recently I've been having trouble getting my - might I add - really low key, easy cut properly done. After I arrived there, maybe 5 minutes went by and Rosie started working on me, the whole process was really quick (maybe around 15 - 20 minutes total, but I have short hair), but was done with care and quality. I only had to explain once what I wanted, she took care of everything, and my hair looks better than ever. It's cheap too, cheaper than Supercuts, and the service can't be compared.
