Are you having back issues or neck pain? Hip issues from sciatica pain? Give The Southeastern…read moreSpine Institute a call! The SSI in Mt. Pleasant, SC, offers patients the very best in spine health expertise, technology and procedures. They have a wonderful physician staff, which includes spine surgeons, neurosurgeons, sports medicine orthopedic specialists, non-surgical rehab doctors and pain management specialists. My Mom has degenerative disc disease and Dr. Steven Poletti has successfully done two back surgeries on her. She has sung his praises for years to so many family members and friends. Unfortunately, he (or SSI) will not see her anymore because she has Humana Insurance or because my Mom's plan changed under Humana. I just know, if she goes there, they won't accept her insurance. She's 84 now, so I'm hoping she continues to do well. I went to SSI in June of 2024 and saw Dr. Timothy Bryan. Dr. Bryan sent orders downstairs to their surgical center for me to get an injection by Dr. Levin. Two days after getting the injection, my arthritis/sciatica pain was completely gone. No nicer group than the ones in the surgical center. Thank you, Dr. Levin!! Beautiful, clean, new building Wonderful, on-site surgical center MRIs done in the same building The Surgical Staff is the nicest! Only thing I could suggest.... The lobby is so huge when you walk in on the main floor. Maybe a snack cart, or vending machine to sell snacks or drinks? If a patient is seen up stairs, then goes to get an MRI, then they are sent to get a shot, your wait time could be longer than expected. Your driver may need a drink while they wait on the patient, too! **If you visit, take a drink and a snack, especially if you're a diabetic.

He was so compassionate and very clear on what I needed to know, for the past 9 days. He was honest, direct and made understanding what was happening to my beautiful daughter, Jennifer Ann Murphy, clear. He validated my concerns and offered me the clarity I needed to truly make an "informed" decision. Thank you Dr Giddens. Your kindness and professionalism has NOT gone unnoticed! Thank you, just doesn't seem like enough!

The operations went great and the post operative care was great as well at Grand Strand Medical Center. Cannot say enough good about the operation staff, Dr. Giddens or the hospital care staff. I would recommend all of them to anybody that is not a Type 1 diabetic. Unfortunately being a Type 1 GSMC rules did not allow for patient input for insulin and their ideas of diabetic care resulted in many many hours of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia . Discussion with the controlling Endocrinologist yielded no cooperation so there was no recourse except to checkout of GCMC against medical advice, even though therapy had not been completed. This was necessary in order to regain control of my blood glucose.

It gave me a chance to decide rather I wanted the surgery or if I wanted to continuously take the injunctions. I recommend Dr. Stovall to everyone who talk to me about back pain or any other things that deals with the back.

Have had a lot of failure since surgery and the g cyst has never gone away ..We had discussed prior to surgery the removal of this because of my cancer history however he did not remove it . Since the surgery have gone to post op many times and even requested one. Only to be never seen by the doctor only PA she has tried stuff for infection ..and now this last time again still not seeing the doctor. She wanted to get a mri because did not get one before surgery and some cream . For a minute I agreed but then thought about it because the amount of Tylenol to control pain is bad for me and not being able to see the doctor decided to find some new help . Wanted to update and edit since I went back and visited the summary which was a complete untruthful statement..Have had throat cancer with no voice box so I record everything for my wife to hear just easier that way and it sure doesn't match our recording nor did she not put the mri and prescription order in like we discussed they have been calling and texting After looking at reviews ran across a review not even 13 days ago of the same Dr. guess I'm not the only one recently with problems seems to be a trend

Both times I've interacted with him he's been short and condescending with me as if I'm too inferior for him to bother with. He tried to blame my current health issues (brain tumor, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, cervical stenosis with radiculopathy &rheumatoid factor) on a psychiatric issue. When asked what I currently do for work and I responded I was on disability for my chronic conditions, he looked at me like I was crazy like I had no business being on it. He about laughed in my face and quickly turned on his heels, said he couldn't help me and was out the door! I felt totally gaslit both times by him! He's curt and smug. I chalked it up to a personality clash or maybe I don't have the right insurance for him. At any rate, the entire experience was too demoralizing for me! I need a little more compassion and empathy than I've been shown. He said I was a candidate for back surgery and to call him when my legs start to hurt. I'm trying to be proactive about my issues, not wait till I'm too disabled to even drive myself to his office for help. I had just gotten out of the ER with a broken wrist, broken toe, and a contusion on my face and shoulder from a hypoglycemic syncope blackout and he's telling me to call him when things get worse. He says he's conservative about surgery and people should wait till they absolutely need it like when their 85 years old. I disagree! His ofc seems disorganized. They call me 30 min before a scheduled visit and ask me to go get x-rays first like I have nothing better do. I can't stand the way I've been treated by all of them like I'm a worthless piece of shit for existing! It's hard to find good care these days! We have to be our own advocates when it comes to our health. I cried after my experience with him.
