Lots of parking right in front of the restaurant. Only 20% full 6:30PM on a Saturday but super poor/slow service as so many takeout orders. Waitress took over 10minutes to come get our order. Waters were not offered but had to be asked for. Appetizers showed up but no utensils or condiments ( soy sauce, sweet/sour sauce) for a while after. Green onion cakes were 10/10 good. super fresh, hot and doughy. I got #61. Basic rice, with assorted meats and small salad. Rice was super bland and overcooked. Salad was basic but I liked the dressing. Grilled pork was 10/10, sausage was 10/10, BBQ pork was really dry 7/10. Boyfriend got Combo 7. He loved the wontons in the wonton soup. He liked the rice ( it had more flavor and color than mine), but he found the sweet/sour pork gave him a gut ache. I liked the flavor on the pork but it was quite dry even covered in sauce. Friend got C11 the stir fried chicken in black bean sauce and loved it. Friend got the #75 Noodle 42 Special Fried rice and it looked really good. Overall I recommend take out as dine-in was terrible service. So many options was overwhelming but at least everyone found something to try. read more

Not the best pho in town, but it's close to home, so it'll do in a pinch. Decent portion sizes (large size only), which left my mom and I full. I thought the broth tasted fine, although my mom said it was just MSG and not legit. Afterwards, we were both incredibly thirsty, so the broth must've been pretty salty. I wasn't a fan of the beef they put in their pho - it's like the same kind of beef you'd use in stir fry - not thinly cut or fatty at all. My mom said she found her beef too chewy. I only had, like, 3 pieces of tendon in my soup. Food comes out nice and fast, but service can be slow since they only had one person working when I was there. The poor guy had to deal with the lunch rush all by himself and it was clear that a neighboring table was not very impressed. In summary, not the greatest pho, and though the location is incredibly convenient, I'm not sure it's worth a repeat visit. read more

Noodle 42 staff, PAY ATTENTION!! I called in an order tonight, and followed up with an immediate phone call to inform you of NUT ALLERGIES in my household. I came in, picked it up, and CONFIRMED with counter staff that there were no nuts...Guys, if I hadn't checked it for my hubby, we'd be headed to the ER right now with anaphylactic shock on our hands!!!! To be honest, I'm more than a little upset. You are DAMNED lucky he didn't take a single bite.....We won't be back for food anymore, but I will be in tomorrow afternoon to get that refund on his meal. One of many places that serves pho. It is good like every other pho I have tasted. For some reason this year though I've been craving pho so this is a quick fix. This restaurant has been here for years, and still holding up good. Nothing too fancy either, the atmosphere is like any other asian restaurant. You can also order take out here and there is a comfy couch to sit so you can wait as well. Washrooms are well kept. Staff is friendly and parking is cramped due to other stores nearby. Best times to get food is when it's not meal times. You can try eating here at meal times but be advised parking is tight. Recommended for anyone looking to eat Vietnamese soup, though they do have great dishes as well such as the peaches and cream deep fried shrimp. I checked out Noodle 42 with my husband and another pho-loving friend. She had been a couple of times, and I was feeling like trying a pho place I hadn't been to. We went on Saturday at about 6:30pm The restaurant was quite a bit bigger than I expected, and not very busy. The waitress brought us menus and water right away. There was actually tons of stuff on the menu - lots of different rice and noodle dishes - but I only wanted pho so I stuck to that section. They even had a bigger variety of soup than some other places. Regular pho, chicken soup, and some other special soups. I ordered off menu and got beef and meatball pho for $7.95. Our soup came out right away and mine tasted great! I was impressed with the flavour, lack of oiliness and amount of noodles and meat. The meatballs were the best I've had in pho so far. High quality. Maybe they've been reading their Yelp reviews, because while our waitress wasn't chatty and friendly per se (which I find to be pretty standard in pho joints), the service was fast and our food was great. I didn't even know Noodle 42 was there, tucked away in the Clareview shopping area, even though I'm there fairly often. Now that I know, I'll definitely be back as it's only a short drive from my place. read more

I've been to this little strip mall area dozens of times to go to BPs, Michaels and Bulk Barn but just found out that this place existed, because of a tip from a friend. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice bright atmosphere. I've now been there twice. The first time I had #20 which is beef in a satay broth. I'd never had it before and didn't know what to expect, but I was very impressed. I really liked the peanuts in it. I had no idea what the satay broth was and I didn't expect tomatoes to be in it, but there were! I think I like it better than regular pho broth, so I'll be back for that again. The second time I had #11 which was shrimp and beef in a sour beef broth. I liked it too, but the satay was better. Service was prompt and they even came by to ask if we were enjoying our meals, which doesn't usually happen at pho places. read more

I was seriously craving some Vietnamese food one night, so I stopped by Noodle 42. It was the first time I was there. A Vietnamese restaurant is a bit of an anomaly in Clareview. When I got there, the place was completely empty. They were almost closing but still offering takeout. The nice lady gave me a menu. It was hard to decide, since it seemed like there were endless items. I decided on vegetable spring rolls and a pork with vermicelli noodles dish. While I waited, I sat down at a table. I couldn't help but stare at the beautiful fish tank that housed dozens of bright orange fish. It was amazing and bit hypnotic watching these fish swim around. I also noticed that this restaurant had some nice decor. I thought the fake plants and flowers gave this place a cozy feel. It seemed very unpretentious and the kind of place I'd enjoy to sit and stay for dinner. When I got the food home, I was pretty satisfied with the taste. The spring rolls were good, and the pork dish came with few veggies, but tons of noodles and lots of meat. The pork was quite tasty and not greasy at all. I've eaten here a couple of times when I'm craving a pho bowl in the northside. It's a typical quaint Asian atmosphere except with higher ceilings than most hole-in-wall restaurants I've been to. We decided to try the take out option for a change. Staff are polite & sociable. There's a sofa at the till so you can wait comfortably for your take out order. I was even offered a cup of tea/ water while I waited. We ordered the Special pho #12, pho with rare beef #13 & chicken pho #19. There's free wifi in area so you don't get bored while you wait. I was told to expect a 15-20 min wait. It was packed and ready in less than 5 min. Express service! And portions & flavor did not disappoint. Do wish that a slice of lemon/ lime would be included in my bean sprouts & herb bag though. They also packed enough sauce with my order without being asked, so I could flavor my pho to my liking too. read more

Husband and I ate there never again. No flavour in there food. There bubble teas were way too sweet.

I always go to this restaurant every once in a while. But I went there again tonight, and the service wasn't that good. When I was ordering, I asked for bubble tea, but they said they can't serve bubble tea because they are too busy...? Seriously, if you can't serve bubble tea, then why have it on the menu? I was so disappointed of that. It took too long to wait for my food, like 30 minutes to bring out my food. Beware, if your planning to go there on a Friday Night, then a heads up, if it's too busy, they wont likely serve bubble tea. read more

I'm not sure what some are complaining about but the quality and quantity of the food are consistently good. Our family eats here regularly and I like the variety of the food and the value. There are also a few combo dinners for the ravenous teens in our family. If I do have a complaint it is the somewhat scrawny spring rolls. On the bright side, the bathrooms are clean, and this was the first place you could buy pho in Clairview area. Considering I can eat a decent bowl of vermicelli with pork and spring rolls for under ten bucks with tax, we will be returning here often! I stopped in to this Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and was delighted to find it wasn't overly busy. It's spacious and the staff were quick to serve. I'm always a bit nervous eating Vietnamese. Most of the dishes I'll skip over when it calls for beef, pork or seafood. It all looks like mystery meat to me. I feel safer sticking to plain, old chicken. So I ordered the lemongrass chicken rice noodle soup. It came with green onions and bean sprouts. It was good. Nice and simple, no crab's claws, squid, prawns or other scary stuff. I'm usually a more adventurous eater, but I fear the food safety standards of a lot of Asian restaurants. My boyfriend works in food safety and has shared a story or two with me. In the back of my mind I am always afraid I am eating a cat or northern Alberta road kill. No wonder there are so many Asian vegetarians. read more

Sadly not impressed. The restaurant looks nice and was clean. I came with a group of 9 people, one of which raved about the place from coming here regularly years ago. Some of my party went for the ginger beef special, others had vermicelli bowls. One of the group had pho. Overall, it turns out that everyone at the table was not happy with their dish. This wasn't known all at once but near the end of our meal one person made a comment, then another until we realized that we all were having the same experience no matter the dish. There was nothing to complain about to the kitchen nor anything to send back. It just wasn't that good. We each had dishes elsewhere just like these but they were much better. The three us that had vermicelli bowls each noted how dry they were even with the full bowl of fish sauce poured on. It was like we poured it on a sponge. Also the flavours of the meat were just passable. I'm looking for something to pop. The meat is should be the highlight. The person who had the pho didn't even bother finishing it due to the flavourless, yet salty and oily, broth. I was saddened by the experience as it is so close to work. I guess we will have to go elsewhere on our lunch breaks. read more

So good here. My family and I don't even need to look at the menu anymore, we all know our favourites. Green onion cakes are great, spring rolls and salad rolls too. Mmmm. We have a somewhat loud 2 year old that we avoid taking to restaurants but we can take her here as they are pretty fast at bringing out food and the green onion cakes keep her quiet. They are also super friendly and very accommodating. Only a couple cons; not a fan of the bubble tea (and I love bubble tea) and a baby change table would be awesome in the bathroom :) otherwise keep up the good work guys!! read more

We have been here several times and give it a thumbs up, for sure! We have ordered several things off the menu and have not had one bad experience in doing so. The food is fresh and tasty. We HAVE had service that one would consider on the slow side....being seated is one that springs to mind. However, once seated our service has been decent, typical long wait for the bill, but the quality of the food negates that factor to us. I forget the exact name of it, but there is a curry chicken soup that is pure heaven. We order it every time we go there....the portion is huge, and oh geez....the layers of taste are delicious. Service is "ok", food is fresh, taste is awesome, portions generous. It gets busy at times which is a good indication of a popular place well worth trying out at least once, which we did...and we keep going back. EDIT: It has been awhile since we went here but we went back a few nights ago and the food is excellent as per usual, and the service has improved as well. It was much quicker and wow, the dishes came out quick from the kitchen and very hot and fresh. We will be back for sure! read more

I've been in here a few times, the waitress is an owner and so is her husband who's cooking in the back, the food is great but because it's just the one owner/waitress on the floor the service is veery slow. Haven't been here for at least six months, and I'm not sure if they are under new management or what has changed but it's not good. Ordered two main meals and an appetizer and there was barely any meat. Smallest sliver of pork inside the salad rolls. A few bites of beef with the vermicelli. Had #63 (a combo plate). Very greasy, one item seemed like deep fried rubber. About 1/4 into my meal, I bit into the raw tomato, at which point my gag reflex immediately spit it out as it tasted like it had been sitting in the same water as seafood for a few days!! The people I was with did not like their #63's either and ate less than 1/4 of their plates. The salad rolls we had for appetizer we dried out and crusty. and.....was ill later that evening and through the next day. :( We complained to the manager on duty. He provided no discounts nor any apology. They really did not care. Such a shame since we live only blocks away. We will not be back. read more

My first impression was it looks like an average Pho style restaurant. Magoo and I were seated promptly & drink order was taken, After that service slowed to a glacial crawl, our Green Tea was brought fairly quickly. But was another 7 - 10 minutes before our food order was taken. The first appy's came out very quickly. We tried the Grilled salad rolls, very good. Then our Green onion cakes came, only problem was they looked a lot like Spring Rolls. Meh, they were in the running for lunch appys. So we ate them, some of the best we ever had. Nice mistake. Oh Magoo's drink order finally showed up now, Black Jelly on ice. Soon after our meals showed up, Chicken Fried rice & Pho special soup. Awesome, above average Pho fare. We will be back. But not during a busy time like lunch or during super rush, we were there just after 2 pm and there was only 2 other tables. Could you imagine how slow service would be if it was packed? We love this place. The salad rolls with the peanut sauce are my fav. I would be hard pressed to find better ones. Great service and value for money.
