I wish they had hot tea because I love green tea with my Pho. They have sodas and Sweet tea! I wish they would use more spices like ginger and other spices. First time in midland Odessa areas. Went and tried this place. The food was prepared fresh . The noodles are pulled when you ordered it. The dumplings and Bao's are very good but can add a little more texture on the filling. Overall it's good experience Side note that they gave free peanuts which is sweet and salty. The food here is legit good. What a fine gem this is in Midland. I was pleased to see that they were a bit busy! Give these people the recognition they deserve! The pan Fried buns were so good. I had to save a couple of them for the next day and I ate them for breakfast. SO GOOD. The youpo noodle dish i got was too big. too too big. So I took the leftovers home and ate them the next day in my hotel room and omg they were even better the next day. It made me wish I had more noodles to eat. Not what I was expecting to find in Midland, TX. Had a decent number of reviews in the area so I checked them out. I noticed the guy at the counter was hand pulling noodles so I had to ask which dish has the hand pulled noodles. The waitress told me all of the noodle dishes are hand pulled and she recommended the spicy beef noodle soup. It wasn't very spicy, more like a mild to medium spice, but it was very good. The slices of beef had good flavor. The noodles felt springy and fresh. I also got an order of the spicy baby cucumbers. It was good, but the slices were a bit large so the center of the cucumbers had little flavor. Green onion pancake was pretty standard but the sauce with it was good. I couldn't pinpoint what the sauce was though. And I also had the steamed pork dumplings. Not too bad. Overall, this is probably one of the better Chinese places in the area. I will probably visit once more before I leave for home next week. read more

When I am in Midland I have to come here to eat. I am so happy I found this place in town. Not to many places can you go and watch them actually make the noodle fresh. I would NEVER have guess that when I am in west Texas that I can find a place like this. I order Fried dumplings and the spicy beef noodle soup. I'm flew in from Houston to Midland on a work project for a week. Yesterday some of the people on the project started feeling under the weather (sneezing, stuffy, runny noses, coughing). We all believe it is from the dust and dirt from the move project. I wanted some comfort food and some recommended Tokyo1. I found the Noodle House on Andrews Highway and decided to dine there because it's a small business and it is always a pleasure to dine in small establishments as you find many jewels that way. I should have realized as soon as I walked in the door things were not going to go very well. Once seated I was asked what I'd like to drink. I asked if they had hot tea for my throat. The waitress abruptly said, "NO! THESE ARE THE DEINKS WE HAVE!" She slammed a menu on the table before me and pointed at the soft drinks. I passed on the soft drinks and asked for water no ice. The waitress brought me a blue cup with water and there were bubbles on top of the water. I was not sure if the cup was not completely rinsed of soap or what the problem was. After a bit, the bubbles subsided and there was this white sediment or film in the top of the water. Needless to say, I did not drink the water. The waitress immediately asked for my order. I ordered the chicken Tonkotsu ramen. As I ate and patrons left, they were all greeted as they left with a Goodbye or Bye. I asked for a to go container for the noodles I did not finish. The waitress gave me a bowl to go, no bag, no to go utensils. I signed my check and started toward the door. I did not get a Bye or Good Bye greeting as I left as the other patrons. Made me feel good that I did not leave a tip at all. The food was mediocre ... I've had better in smaller cities like Conroe, TX. I will never everrrrrr recommend this establishment to anyone. If you're looking for good food and hospitality...THE NOODLE HOUSE ON ANDREWS HIGHWAY IN MIDLAND, TX IS NOT THE ESTABLISHMENT! As I write this review, I must also say that I noticed I was the only person of color in the establishment at the time. Finally, reunited with this local gem after about countless trips to Odessa from San Antonio for lunch. During the lunch hour you'll usually find this place busy which is a good thing. We were quickly seated and our waitress took our order. I ordered the steamed pork bao, you can't stop here and not order some Bao. The Bao was decadent nice and soft filled with a pork meatball. Then for the entree, I ordered the beef chow mein, I usually order the shrimp which is very good however decided to give the beef a try. The beef wasn't too great lacked flavor however the chow mein was scrumptious. Overall, great home style noodles whether soup or chow mein definitely a must try and don't forget the Bao! read more

TL;DR: legit, authentic hand pulled noodles. Dumplings are probably the best you can get in west Texas, though not great by regular standards. The beef noodle soup, however, is excellent for anywhere in the U.S. I think at any given time, you can count the number of Taiwanese people in Midland on one hand, even if it's missing a few fingers. I happen to be one of those people and have had my fair share of beef noodle soup, In Taipei, Beijing, Houston, New York, and LA. This place's beef noodle soup honestly stacks up well against most of the locations I've been to. The broth here isn't super heavy on beef flavor. It's visibly lighter in color, lacking some of the depth and richness I'd typically associate with classic beef noodle soup. However, it's nevertheless a great broth and it's one that's easy to drink and pairs well with the noodles, while still delivering a satisfying beefy flavor with plenty of different aromatics. The highlight here, though, are the noodles, hand pulled right in front of you and freshly boiled for every bowl. These noodles are perfectly cooked, with a great texture and mouthfeel that only hand pulled noodles can deliver. Accompanied by the broth and 5 or 6 pieces of leaner beef with a good blend of gelatinous tendon and meat, it makes for a great bowl of noodles. I also tried the steamed pork dumplings, per my servers recommendations, and I have to admit they were a little disappointing. While not bad by any means, they're pricey and a little small. For anyone who's had dumplings in another authentic Chinese restaurant, it's easy to discern the wrapper seems a little off (they just use noodle dough here probably), and the filling is far too mushy. It's served with some non traditional sweet soy dipping sauce, but they have hot oil and vinegar for those who want it. They also give you a little bowl of boiled, salted peanuts before the meal, a typical appetizer you find at a lot of restaurants in China, but usually not free in the US, actually. It's a nice touch on top of the excellent noodles that propels this place to 5 stars in my book. read more

The entrance is set up where you walk directly into the dinning area so you're not sure to seat yourself or wait. Over to the left is all the drink and food supplies which is a complete eye sore. Past that is the fresh made noodle area which is shielded so you can watch which is amazing. We ordered Boa, noodle soup, ramen, and dumplings. Everything was flavorful and delicious! Issue with this place is cleanliness by far! The floor had stuff all over it, the walls had splatters, and the bathroom which halfway through my meal I used ruined my appetite. It is quite authentic in my opinion however their broth does lack some flavor and it's not very well seasoned so I think they're expecting you to seasoned it yourself with the excessive amount of sauces they give.
