Noodles & Company used to be our go-to place, with great service, chill atmosphere, and our favorites: their Mac & Cheese, Pesto Cavatappi, and Penne Rosa. Recently they've had a complete revamp of their menu and we were NOT impressed. Penne Rosa is now Rigatoni Rosa with different sauce and tomatoes, the pesto tastes different and so does the Mac - so different that we will never order them again as it reminds me of someone on Pintrest trying to remake Noodles&Co classics. The only things that have not changed, that we may order, are their rice crispie bars & fountain drinks. So disappointing. read more

Lots of parking, that's very nice. Right on university ave, good location. I've always liked Noodles. This location was fast, the food was hot and exactly what we came here for. My fiancé got the Alfredo MontAmore and I indulged like a true fat person with Buffalo Mac n cheese with extra cheese. I feel fat as hell now but it was so worth it. Noodles & Company is a solid staple of some fast-casual comfort carbs. The flavors can sometimes be 'watered-down' with the Asian cuisine so I try to steer clear from those. I usually ask for extra things which probably annoyed the servers, but they are always super nice about it. My go-to's are the Buttered Noodles (extra seasoning on the side and lots of sriracha), Penna Rosa (extra sauce, extra tomatoes/spinach), and the Pesto Cavatappi. The grilled chicken goes well with any of these or sometimes I go for the shrimp to change things up a bit. One time, I tried their healthy items with the zucchini noodles and unfortunately, it wasn't working for me. I make zucchini noodles at home, but these were a little for me. A little too soggy and was missing the crunch. It was so wet, I think that the sauce kind of separated from their elements too so it was this weird, soggy mixture. Maybe not all sauces will mix well with the noodles... will have to keep experimenting. Specifically, at this location, the staff is really friendly. I use to work here in college. We raved about it and my kids grew up on it. Now we only go once in a blue moon for the nostalgia certainly not for the food. Every time, every location so sad. The Japanese pan use to be spicy with the sauce caramelized to the noodle . Now bland and squishy. The pesto cavatappi now has cheap Parmesan on top, raw broccoli and no pesto flavor,just color and a hint of cream .the shrimp barely heated it use to be cooked in the wok and you knew it! Is it steamed now? The only things I'll get now are the med salad and the pot stickers, but they are not pot stickers anymore. They are dumplings as they never have the searing on the sides anymore. I feel like the Noodles chain has fallen off on the whole since I frequented them in the early 2000s, but this location seems to be taking a little more care than some of the other outposts around Madison. First, the dining room was pretty clean. There weren't dirty dishes on half the tables and trash piling up. Second, the food runner was pleasant and smiled and greeted us when bringing over our order. Third, it is here that I discovered the wonder of the kids meal. For $5, you can get a small mac & cheese. Or, for $5.50, you can get a small mac & cheese, two sides, and a drink under the guise of a kid's meal. For the sides, you have your choice of applesauce, pineapple, broccoli, or a kid's crispy. I decided to get the broccoli and the kid's crispy. I was surprised that the broccoli appeared to be freshly steamed (it still had texture and wasn't just mush like frozen broccoli). I was also surprised/pleased to find that the kid's crispy is just a regular rice crispy treat triangle, which is plenty for two people to share. I don't know if that's the norm, or they didn't have any kid-sized ones left, or they were just being nice because I am clearly an adult, but either way it was great deal. In general, Noodles doesn't have me clamoring to go back for more, but when I do find myself there I'll likely roll with one of the kid's meals again. read more

if you want to eat here, I would strongly recommend paying in card or just new bills. I was eating here today with a small group of friends while we were on a school field trip and I paid with a 20 dollar bill that was about 26 years old. The cashier accused me of it being counterfeit with the only accusation of it being old and she hasn't seen one before. She took the bill and ran off to whom I assume was her supervisor, guess he has neither seen an 26 year old 20 dollar bill. I called both of them out, and the supervisor just blamed it on the system???? The supervisor then proceeded to follow my friends and I around the restaurant until we found a table. My experience was disastrous. My roommate and I were looking for a fast, filling meal before a night out. This was not the place to be tonight. We ordered Pad Thai and Korean Beef Noodles to-go and patiently waited until crap hit the fan. After standing around for what we considered a long time for a to-go order, my roommate went up to the counter (which was unattended) and said we'd been waiting 20 minutes. The employee looked back at the screen and corrected her saying it was only 15 minutes. After that off-putting interaction, we proceeded to wait 15 more minutes. In the mean time, three other customers came up to complain. Basic customer service skills lacked, and the place was entirely understaffed and disheveled from a busy day. The only redeeming qualities were the large portions and the nice employee that let us each take a free dessert as an apology. P.S. - They forgot the sauce on the Pad Thai, making it just noodles sans company. read more

Half of my team decided to take quick pit stop before practice to fuel up. We decided to choose noodles because it was close and what we thought would be a quick journey. Once we got there we decided what we wanted we waited 5 min just for service. Once we ordered the lady Welcome to us was warm and fuzzy vibes. Ive been to at least 4 Noodles and Co in Madison and this takes the winner as the worst location oft the bunch. As one of the previous reviews stated, this Noodles and Co is dirty. I stopped in during non peak hours on a Thursday ( 2:30). There were about 5 people there total, however, a few tables remained uncleaned for the entire time I dined inside which was about a good 30 minutes. They didn't seem understaffed and there wasn't a rush of customers. I am not sure why tables couldn't be cleaned during this time. I order the large Steak Stroganoff as I always do. My food was delivered to me fast, yet, was barely warm and my steak was a bit dry and overcooked. It was almost as if I got the bottom ends of the steak in the pot or however they keep the food until someone order it. My food wasn't good. I ate it because I was hungry and went without lunch for the day. Majority of the staff seems to be college students and younger so I am not expecting the finest food in the world but even for a place like Noodles, I am not sure how you mess up a simple order to where its barely warm. One last note, I noticed the dude who took my order hands were disgusting. Fingers nails were dirty. I hope he didn't cook my food. That should have been my first sign to leave. I thought the server did well in terms of getting our order, however, they forgot to put our sides in the take-away bag. Had a lunch outing at the University Ave Noodles & Company. I ordered the pesto with chicken. The pesto had a different taste than I had it before. It wasn't bad it was just different. I long for consistancy of flavors. The biggest disappointment was the potstickers. I mean, how flat can they get? They are supposed to be pillows that are fried on both sides for a crispy factor. The press that they go through here takes all the air out of them and the filling inside is really lost to the pancake-ness of the dough. My first time at noodles and company, and hopefully my last. I ordered the pad Thai, and in my first bite I notice a short, coarse, curly hair. Of course, I take my bowl to the front and they make me another one. I'm not sure if they spit in it or something, but it was pretty bad. Just as I decide that this isn't worthy any more and stop eating, I look to my sister's Mac and cheese and, sure enough, another hair. I know other people have had some less-than-pleasant things to say about this location, but it is my absolute favorite N&C location in the Madison area. First, the staff is uber-friendly, helpful, and smiley. Every time I go, at least one of the staff members talks to me at my table to make sure I'm enjoying my meal. Second, this location puts lots of sauce on their dishes, so I've never had a flavorless meal here. If you know anything about me, you'll know I love sauce (see the tagline on my profile). I'm especially a fan of the Indonesian Peanut Saute with Tofu and the Penne Rosa with Shrimp. After years of avoiding he chain, my resolve faltered and I gave it a try. The dishes I have tried were the japanese pan noodles with steak and the bangkok curry with pork. I don't want to get into details as I feel I may just come off as ornery but suffice it to say the flavors were bland and predictable and the vegetables undercooked. It was getting late and I had a race the next morning - needed something simple and quick - specifically of the carbohydrate variety. I went with a pretty safe (read plain) option; penne noodles, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, and sauteed mushrooms. Points for fresh ingredients and efficient service but this is definitely not "inventive" food; this is a quick service restaurant chain - definitely not typical fast food, but not an upscale Italian restaurant. I am hopping mad that for years we have been told at this location that they are giving us soy-free food, and then I see this disclaimer on their website's nutritional information: "All of our menu items contain fully refined soy oil, which, according to the FDA, is not an allergen." They might decide that it is "not an allergen," but it certainly is not "soy free" -- when we ask for soy-free food, they should not take it upon themselves to decide that we don't want to know about their pervasive use of soy just because the FDA has declared that it isn't an allergen!!! This is my favorite Noodles location. It's right down the road from where I live and SO convenient. I just pick up the phone, make my order, drive down the road and my food is ready for pick up! The whole process takes less than 10 minutes during peak lunch hour. There's no place as simple as this and you still got hot delicious food. I always get the spaghetti with braised pork. I love the way they cook and season the pork to make it moist and flavorful. The spaghetti sauce is savory and just perfect. It's really comfort food at its best. Some reviewers did not have a pleasant experience which I find strange. Most of my visits, I've been greeted by friendly staff who are super efficient and get me what I needed right away. I love eating at Noodles. The food is delicious, and the service is quick. The only complaint is that this particular location is often times dirty. I mean, really dirty. A lot of families bring their kids, which just means that the place gets messy...and then it stays that way. At least a couple of times now I've gone in there and have had to literally stand and look at each table until I found one that was cleaned (this happened today, which is why I'm writing this--in hopes that they might be better about it in the future). The entire time we were there eating, nobody came out to clear all the dirty plates. It was sort of gross (but fun to watch other people play musical chairs, as well, haha). Weirdly, I think it happens usually when the place is slow. When there are lots of people, they're good about it, but I guess when they're not too busy they just wait until there are very few tables available before they do a sweep of the whole place. My kids love this place - they say it's the best Mac n cheese ever. I always struggle to find something I really like. I typically order a salad or the Thai hot pot. If you get a salad I would recommend requesting the dressing on the side - there's way too much tossed in. My big kids usually split a regular size and it's plenty of food which makes it a very reasonably priced meal for us. The service is fast, which is nice with kids. Can't ask for much more in a fast food chain. We'll be back as long as my kids keep craving the Mac n cheese :) read more

I think that the Mac and cheese recipe was changed or they got new cheese. But the consistency was off and the flavor was no where near as good as it was. I actually really like this Noodles, despite what the other reviews say. They're usually really consistent. I have tried the Mac and Cheese, Pesto Cavatappi, Penne Rosa, Japanese Pan Noodles, Med Salad, and Tofu. I usually get the Penne Rosa. The flavors are always really good. I usually get it to go after work. Excellent service, and tasty food delivered quickly to the table. Our son picked this restaurant for a dinner celebrating his graduation. He and his brother enjoyed the food, and they're really picky eaters. We called the restaurant before, and asked if we could bring in a cake. They were just fine with that, as long as it was sealed and from a commercial bakery. Better yet, they let us store the cake for several hours at the restaurant before we came in. Unbeknownst to us, the manager reserved a private room for us. Two of us asked for a modification to one of the standard dishes. The counter person took the order quickly, and we got the modified dishes quickly as requested. The manager knew when we were ready for the cake, and brought it to us without us asking. He also brought cake dishes and offered a cake knife. I complimented the manager, Omar, twice before leaving. He provided a wonderful experience for our family. Here and Panera are my go to places to pick up food on the way home. They've got great asian noodles and awesome salads. The soups are good too, and its easy to wait a couple minutes for food or order online to easily pick up. Big fan of the Penne Rosa, Greek Salad, and Japanese Pan noodles. Decided to order my food online and pick it up at the counter, but guess what? The employee there decided to ignore me and not called my name even though my food was ready to pick up and was on the counter for ready to pick up. I don't know what her issue was but she totally ignore and called other name that are familiar to her such as her other customer Michael and Sadie. Discustingly dirty! Barely a single table in the entire place was bussed. It was well after the lunch rush and they didn't appear to be busy. I have never seen a dirtier soda fountain, ew. I had to use the restroom but was afraid. I have been to noodles before many times in the past but I strongly advise against this location. My husband ordered the pesto chicken.
