The Tubby Taft gives a whole new meaning to the term "bathtub" gin. They don't have any food options but you can order/bring in food from either Nara Ramen or The Firepit both located above Oscar's. Service was almost instantaneous and really friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is also available in the same lot as Nara and the Firepit.

The atmosphere was very "speak easy", in fact it was hard to find...as it should be. Here is the kicker...the place was empty except for four people at the bar. We asked to sit on one of the sofas. No. They are reserved for large parties. This was a Thursday night and, as I said, there were four people at the bar. I was discussing this with the bartender when a guy came up behind us and said we could not sit in any of the chairs or sofas. We could only sit at the bar or or one of two high-tops. He looked like a bouncer and sloppy. I told him if a large party came in, we would gladly surrender our seats to them. Still NO. When we had finished our drinks and left, we were the only people there. The bartender was wearing a tee shirt and a baseball cap backwards. Not the Speak Easy attire. Then a replacement bartender takes over...tee shirt and backwards cap. Speak Easy's are supposed to be classy. Again, the drinks were good and we enjoyed them, but we will not go back. The seating requirements are totally out of line and they need to have employees dressed better. I do not recommend this place.

They also have an upstairs area that they can open on weekends, but it wasn't busy enough on a Monday night to be open. Which brings me to one big advantage Shakers has: while lots of bars and restaurants have a dark night, they are open every day. Service was very friendly, and their menu specializes in martinis, they have several cocktail options available, as well as a full page of wine options. They don't have food, but you can bring in anything from the outside, and The Fire Pit is right next door if you like Bar-B-Que. The cocktails we had were well made, and delivered with a smile.

I had a very upsetting experience at Broadway Grill that I feel others -- especially those with…read morefood allergies or celiac disease -- should be aware of. This happened a while back, but it bothered me so much I still think about it, so I decided to finally write a review. I ordered a gluten-free pasta dish and clearly informed the waitress that I am gluten intolerant (celiac). When the dish was brought out, I noticed a single regular noodle sitting right in the middle of the pasta. It was visibly different from the gluten-free noodles. Thankfully, I spotted it before taking a bite. Cross-contamination is a serious issue for people with celiac disease, and even one noodle can make us very sick. I asked for the dish to be taken back and explained that I was too nervous to reorder it because I didn't want to risk getting sick. Instead, I ordered a simple green side salad and specifically requested no croutons. A few bites into the salad, I found a crouton. At that point, I was extremely upset and honestly tearful. I informed the manager and explained how serious this is for me. I asked for the salad to be removed from my bill, given that it also contained gluten after I clearly requested it not to. They refused. For anyone with celiac disease or a serious gluten intolerance, this was not just an inconvenience -- it was a health risk. The repeated lack of attention to a clearly communicated medical dietary restriction, followed by the refusal to remove the contaminated item from the bill, was deeply disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes food allergies more seriously in the future and improves its kitchen practices and staff training so no one else has to go through this. Since this experience, I have never been back and would recommend others avoid going back to this restaurant.
