I came in here with my friend on a mission to get him glasses last minute. Every place we called or went to were closing. Each place told him his eye exam would take too long where he'd have to come in another time because his vision was a bit complicated. They all told him it would also take about a week to get his glasses made. Luckily, this place took him in 3 minutes before the doctor was leaving. Everything was done within 30 minutes. She was honest, straightforward, courteous, and very easy to communicate with. I came here on two occasions for prescription sunglass lenses. This last time I went in and I asked for a discount on the lenses. The lady asks for my information to check that I have actually been there before but she can't find my chart. She says that she can't give me a discount this time but next time if I buy a frame she will be able to give me a better deal. Losing my chart is one thing. But when I came in to have the lenses installed in the frames, they chipped the lens as they were cutting it. I'm a little frustrated because I drove out and waited, only to find out that they have to re-order another lens. I asked for a discount due to the inconvenience, and the guy says that he can't because they already wrote it up. Ok. As a small business, when you make a mistake and you aren't able to deliver on your promised service, you should make accommodations. Something has to be done in order to placate a likely frustrated consumer. Unless you are a small business that doesn't care about negative reviews. read more

No joke. My family and I have been going to Nara Optometry for over 10 years for our eyeglass and contact needs. Peter, Angie, Anna and the rest of the staff are amazing. They take such good care of you. They work on getting you the best at your budget (and we definitely need any help during this market). Especially if you don't have insurance. The eye exam doctor is also a really sweet man. Super gentle and quick! They've got a very wide array of eyeglasses and good selection of sunglasses. It's not Sunglass Hut but they've got the supply and variety to satisfy your needs. Everyone I've sent over there has been well taken care of which is why I'm very comfortable spreading their name around. Yes, this is in a dominantly Korean area but they are fluent English speaking so don't feel intimidated about going here for your needs. On a stormy Sunday afternoon, eating at my favorite Vietnamese noodle place, when I go on Yelp to look for an optometrist. My normal glasses had broken due to a drunken night, and I hadn't had time to get new ones yet. I've looked at various places (including) a major optometrist chain, and either the price was prohibitive, the selection lacking, or both. Enter Nara, a strange name for an optometry, but it was open on Sunday, and it was literally down the street from where I was at the time. I had already had some frames that I had bought elsewhere, and wanted to just get the lens. The employee who came to my aid (his name was Andy), told me the price, and I couldn't believe how cheap it was. Moreover, since my insurance was accepted at their location, he gave me an even BETTER price on the lenses. The price ended up being so cheap, I ended up picking up another pair of glasses, which still ended up being cheaper than the price of lenses from the major chain. The best part? He was able to get me my glasses the next day immediately! Their selection ranges from no-name to high-end brands, all priced very affordably. Throughout the whole process, Andy was very patient and answered any questions I might have had. It was such a good deal, my fiance decided to get a pair of glasses herself. It seems like they accept just about all forms of eye insurance here, but be prepared to pay for the whole thing upfront, and get a check from your insurance later. Our family has been coming here for years, but every time I go in I'm still unsure if they're giving us the standard prices for things, or trying to rip us off. That's the kind of vibe I get from this place. This only applies when I'm alone of course. I have been a loyal customer of Nara Optometry for many years. Peter and staff are very personable, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They are always very patient in helping you find the perfect pair of glasses ... and believe me it takes time because Nara carries a huge selection of all the latest styles and brands! In addition, the eye exams are always quick, easy and hassle free. I've only come in for exams on the weekends where they only take walk-ins, and I've never had to wait very long. Nara has always given me great recommendations on contact lenses, prescription glasses, lenses and sunglasses to keep my eyes in working order whether I'm in front of the computer at work, driving at night, or exercising. Service is really bad. I came to store around 10 am and I saw 4 employees but they did not say " Hi ". I waited for 10 mins anyone help me, but nobody did. I don't know why they were here. Andy is very knowledgeable with all of my insurance, optical and sunglasses questions. They have a lab in store and they were able to change my lenses really quickly. Went in for an eye exam after 2 years since the last one, I was a bit nervous because last time I went to an Asian Optometry office they got my result wrong & gave me the wrong contact lenses & prescription glasses . Well I feel like I got a great experience at Nara. I think the girl was helping/assisting me was called Kelly . She was really nice & helpful & wasn't pushing me to purchase the expensive option which I really appreciated. I was very happy walking out with my new prescription, new pair of glasses & new contact lenses & was actually able to see things (I'm blind as a bat apparently)... definitely will be back next time a new eye exam is due. read more

I was so lost. I could not find this place for the life of me--stupid gps. I called the place and after some struggle, I was directed to someone who spoke English. She was very sweet and explained where the place was located. After a good 30 minutes of searching, I was finally able find it! Once I entered, it was a bit hard to get some help. Either they were busy talking to other customers or knew that I didn't speak a word of Korean so they didn't help. But finally I met a sweet girl named Sophie whose English wasn't perfect but good enough for us to communicate. She helped me get in with the doctor and the visit went well. Afterwards, Sophie explained how my insurance worked for contact lenses and she even gave me types of contacts to try on and take home. When I went back to pick up the rest of my contacts, they said that they did not have two other cases and they would come later. I wish they told me this over the phone--all they said was that the contacts were ready for pick up. So if only I could minus 1/2 a star for that... *~*~*EDIT*~*~* The other pack of contacts was backordered so they kindly called me (I think it was Anna--another very sweet girl) and said they would have it shipped to my home address at no charge to me. She even submitted my rebate form for me! It was very kind of them and for that--I will give them 5 stars :) Overall it was a great place. Ask for Sophie if you don't speak Korean! Andy assisted me on Sunday trying on at least a dozen or more to find the one patiently. Nara optometry is open on Sunday's, ready next day, lab on site. He helped me with my current glasses feeling heavy on my cheeks added the bridge same day while I picked up my glasses. I was expecting to come back another day. I came back on Monday to pay and pick up my glasses. Talk about fast service! He's friendly and professional, I see why there are so many good reviews on yelp. I was referred by my cousin after checking out Costco frames, lacking selection and customized assistant. I was trying on different frames at Nara and now I understand the "Asian fit," the bridge for the nose area is hi so the frames won't fall on the cheeks. I'll definitely come back here instead of Costco or any other optometrist. Having A+ customer service Andy is genuinely helpful!!! I left feeling extremely satisfied. Anna change the bridge they added to my frame to keep it from falling heavy on my cheeks to oval instead of the circle shape that felt heavy on my nose. 4/6/17 After coming in 7 times, after coming in around 4 times being service by Andy, 3 times by other staffs each time I come in with excellent service. Was suppose to go to MImi optometry but decided to give this place a try since my optometry place doesn't carry chanel. My eye exam was quick , my vision is mainly the same nothing changes. The Dr. Was very optimistic so that made the experience very pleasant. Andy was the one who helped me decide on my new chanel glasses. I really wanted my old one that I lost the chanel 3212 but it's discontinued :(. After trying on many diffrent pairs and Andy patiently help me try and decide on which one , we decided on the chanel 3291. My favorite and highly recommended for your optometry needs. I have tried other optometry, but I always come back. I had my examination for contact and bifocal glasses earlier this year. It took the doctor 5-6 times for me to come back for the fitting and at the end it was still not perfect. So for the last 6 months, I apparently had the wrong prescription. I thought I was going blind. I came back to Nara and discovered my prescription didn't change for the last 2 years. I got lower in dose and wasted money on contacts and reading glasses. I'm furious. My recommendation for you: only go to Nara if you have vision insurance and they help you save the credit, and also they have variety of brands of glasses to choose. Other than that, don't ever go there especially if you need to see the doctor. My husband got red eye ( left side) and He used Systane for a week but the redness didn't go off. So he went to Nara to see the doctor ( Vietnamese). The doctor told him his eye was okay. When he asked about the redness on his eye, He was told that his eye was just too dry and might be because he used computers too much. He asked why it was only red on one side, and the doctor just said it was dry and then gave him a sample bottle of Systane. He said that he used this one more than a week already. The doctor didn't bother and just told him keep using it. I felt there was something not right because I could see the red part looked swollen and scary, so I asked him to see another doctor just to be sure. He went to Dr Tina Dao, and she said his eye was allergic and prescribed a medication for him. He was on the medication for 2 week and now its better. Thank goodness we didn't trust that doctor. Your eyes are so so important, so don't ever give them to that kind of doctor! Be careful read more

DO NOT (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD) GO!!! Ok, it's official. I am NEVER returning to Nara Optometry. It's so disheartening to know that I've been a loyal customer for so long and be shafted. I recently broke my Tiffany's glasses (luckily, within the one-year warranty). Since it was within one year, I expected an entire frame replacement, however, the SA's kept pushing for a replacement on the leg. I found that to be incredibly ridiculous and kept pushing to replace the entire frame. I got so upset that I didn't want to fight about it anymore and told the SA to do whatever she wanted. Later, I received a phone call from the manager and was told that I would receive new frames but had to pay $25 for shipping/handling. I was enraged that I was required to pay that amount and kept fighting it but he wouldn't budge. I requested a loaner pair of glasses since the optometrist prescribed that I wear my contacts for no more than 12 hours or to wear my glasses as soon as I go home from work (eye strain). The manager would not give me a loaner either (I'll give him credit; he tried to find another Tiffany's frame but failed). After a week, I received a phone call on Monday and was told that my frame would arrive a day later. Fine. Received a phone call on Tuesday and was told that I could pick it up, unfortunately, they would be closed on Wednesday. Fine. I went on Saturday to pick it up. Saturday - One of the legs on the frame was BENT! After 15 minutes, I returned and was so annoyed and it was still bent and did not fit my face correctly. I didn't even want to bother to fix it so I left. As soon as I got home, I took off my contacts to wear my glasses and it kept sliding off the bridge of my nose and I was getting an intense headache because of the leg. It was to the point that I couldn't wear it anymore so I just resorted to being blind. I want to go back to Nara to complain but I just don't want to deal with them anymore. Seriously, fuck Nara. Also, when I was at Nara, I saw a Vietnamese client arguing with the sales guy on the exorbitant price she was asked to pay (over $500!). One of the SA (the same one who wanted to charge me $110 for half a year of contacts) was incredibly rude to her by saying she's wrong. He wouldn't even APOLOGIZE professionally and try to correct her. (I would expect a sincere, "I am so sorry for any confusion. Let's try to break the price structure down together" but heard a "Oh~~~ No no no no no. You are wrong.") What kind of fucked up customer service is that?! My husband went to SCCO and he only paid $30 for his years supply of contacts!!! Also, since SCCO is an optometry school, they were extremely thorough with his exam and pinpointed all discrepancies and possible cause of concern of his eyeballs. Plus, he received a free follow-up and was given recommendations on how to take care of his eyes. Last year, I paid over $200 at Nara for a 10 minute exam. Yeah, Nara lost a client. read more

I am absolutely furious with this optometry. Note that I've been going to this optometry for 8 years when you read my review and pit it against the more positive ones. Out of the 8 years I've needed glasses, I spent about 2 with contacts. For one year in high school I had them, decided I didn't like them, then in late 2011 decided I wanted contacts again for the convenience. I used PureVision torics in high school, but I didn't like having monthlies because I kept forgetting when to switch them - so I asked if I could get biweeklies or one-day lenses. They tell me they can't order bi-weeklies, but they have Acuve one-day lens, which I tried but didn't work. So I just kept the PureVision. This year when I came to order more and get a check up, they put me with a girl who can only speak Korean. Not too big of a deal, I can understand everything she's telling me and I more or less get the procedure after going through it so many times. But the problem is this girl is completely stupid. She doesn't understand any of my concerns; she keeps going off topic from my questions, and she just is stupid. Now I want to get my glasses updated and switch out my contacts. I get the exam, tell the doctor what's up with my contacts, and come back out. Here's where the issues start up. I asked for biweeklies again - and again they said they couldn't do it. Now I was starting to see glares when I was driving with my contacts, and wanted to see about a brand change. They said that the contacts don't have anti-UV coating and my astigmatism creates the glare, so why don't I wear AR coated lenses w/o a prescription with my contacts when I drive. Okay, I can do that! So I get fixed up with Biofinitiy contacts, (I tried a random pair to see how they felt) and some anti-glare glasses. They tell me to come back in a week or so to pick up my order. And I think cool, got my annual eye exam done. Now the following week I go back to pick up my order. They didn't order my trial lenses with the order because I was supposed go around wearing lenses that didn't fit my prescription (according to the girl who was helping me). But okay, they can order my new trial lenses and have it mailed to me! Great! Unfortunately, Biofinity didn't work either, it felt fine but everything was out of focus. Weird. So I go back again to return the contacts. Now remember the AR glasses I got to wear with my contacts? Well they didn't do shit, so I brought them with me to return as well. And what happens here is why after 8 years of loyally going here I have decided to never come back again. I get my eye reexamined, tell the doc what's up with the Biofinity (fits well, but out of focus) - and my goodness! Suddenly I can get biweeklies! Even though I couldn't get them the first two times I asked and really wanted them! First big what the fuck moment. Now comes the AR glasses deal. I had the frame from an old pair and only had the lenses switched out. They tell me they can't give me a refund - but they can give me the glasses with a non-reflective lenses. Which means, they can replace my useless glasses with another pair of useless glasses! AS IF THAT WAS THE PERFECT AND MOST REASONABLE SOLUTION. (And I'm leaving out the part where they tried to explain what AR coating was even though I already knew and needed 3 people to get to this point - shortening my temper). After repeating myself many times, (These glasses are ineffective. They don't do anything. They are useless. There is no difference when I have them on and off. I don't care if most people like them, they are not doing anything for me. Apparently none of these variations of wording were comprehensible to the staff), they tell me they can tint them and make sunglasses - after nearly 30 minutes of wasting my damn time. So I took it because frankly I was tired and wanted to be done. Now I'm waiting on my biweeklies, that I could've gotten a long time ago and the tinted glasses. I don't care too much for the glasses turned sunglasses, except for the part I'm pissed that they couldn't give me the alternatives to not getting a refund upfront. I'm praying these contacts work out because I don't want to deal with them ever again. Overall - if you want some cute designer shades or whatnot, they got choices. And they're good enough to deal with glasses. However, evidently they kept options away from me, they weren't upfront the choices I had one time a real issue with my order came, and they suck. Don't come here for contacts. Don't come here and expect good after service. Actually, if your eyes need real tending to - don't come here.
