clam kalguksu

Was taken here by my korean friend and her mom bc this is one of their favorite spots to get mandu and kalguksu. Everything we got was sooo flavorful and it was the perfect comforting meal after a flight on a chilly night. The mandu was HUGE, filled with lots of well seasoned meat. The noodles were perfectly chewy with so many toppings. My friend's mom was raving about how they make everything in-house and you can really taste the quality and effort they put into each dish. The three of us shared 2 kalguksu and 1 portion of half&half mandu and left STUFFED. I will definitely come back and try other things on their menu! The waiters were all really nice and kept checking if we want our kimchi refilled.

Tasty food, reasonably priced, and good portions. Dropped by on a weekday lunch and was seated right away. There's quite a bit of seating, with larger tables in the middle for bigger groups. It does feel cozy as there isn't that much space between tables but it's nice and bright with the large windows. Beef kalguksu- noodles were chewy and I liked how with the slices of beef, it also came with some tendon. The tendon was very tender. The broth was flavourful. Gimbap- liked the crunch of the daikon and fishcake inside. Pork mandu- originally we weren't planning on ordering this, but when I saw it on another table, I wanted to try it. The mandu are massive! The filling is still very juicy inside with plenty of pork and very flavourful. The mandu wrapper wasn't too thick either. They also had chili oil on the table that went well with the dumplings. I liked how the chili oil wasn't really spicy, and had a smoky flavour to it. They serve pickled vegetables and kimchi as the side dishes. They make their own kimchi, and you can tell it tasted different. It tasted fresh and had a unique flavour. They also sell it in 1kg takeout containers for customers to bring home. Overall, this was a very satisfying meal. We were stuffed and prices were reasonable. If we're in the area again, I'll be coming back.

One of the most amazing meals I've had in a while!! Everything was delicious I mean look at the size of those steamed dumplings!! One is kimchi and one is pork, both delicious but i preferred the pork one and eating it with a slice of kimchi instead! I also got the beef kalguksu and clam kalguksu and both were so delicious. The broth was so clear and crisp and the clam one was filled to the brim with clams. It wasn't taste fishy at all and the clams seriously tasted so fresh. Somehow even the seaweed on top had such pronounced flavour and acted not only a garnish but pleasant addition to the soup! The beef one came with a dipping sauce which I highly recommend you dip the beef into! Already salivating writing this and I highly recommend visiting when you're in Langley. Make sure to make a reservation (not sure if they accept resos) or come early because even though I went around 130, it was quite busy and packed (restaurant size is a bit small).

One of the rarest Korean gem in Langley! Their Mandu were gigantic and huge and the noodles hits the comfort spot! Definitely a place to come for!

Wow this is the kind of broth you get at Korea and to have it in Vancouver is amazing! The broth is cooked for 10 hours and noodles are made fresh everyday...what more can you ask for! The mandu was huge and very good. Service was good and there is only a few seating options, so be prepared to wait a few. Love the intentional decor inside and the cutlery. Will definitely be coming back!

Omg!! The crispy pork was sooooo bomb!! I can't stop thinking about how good it was. The soup was very flavourful and the dumplings were also delicious. A little bigger than I'm used to but nevertheless still yummy. Highly recommend this place!!!! Get the crispy pork!!!

Great food and great service. The server was very attentive, and the food was excellent. We ordered…read morethe beef roll appetizer, which was thin sliced beef with a savory sauce and cilantro rolled in homemade dough, very tasty. Then we shared chicken fried noodles and beef chop suey. The noodle dish was superficially like chicken chow mein, except the vegetables were fresh flavorful and perfect textured-- just a bit of crunch, not soggy at all-- a great complement to the house made fresh noodles. The chop suey was a very healthy dose of assorted vegetables-- cabbage, Napa cabbage, carrot, snow peas, broccoli, etc with more thin sliced beef. A very satisfying, well-prepared, and wholesome meal. Fortune cookies and dinner mints to cap it off. Our server paid great attention to us, and we had a great experience start to finish.

Noodle dishes are still good not as many varieties but the plus is they have many other Chinese favs. Food fresh, the noodles are chewy. I still love the house special noodles with sesame sauce, I added chilli oil, mmm spicy, It tastes like Dan Dan noodles. Yum... Not too busy, the is a server is great, Mia and beer is super cold just the way it should be.

The Katsu Japanese Cutlet House - It was that good

I recently dined at The Katsu Japanese Cutlet House and came away genuinely impressed by both the…read morequality of the food and the overall experience. The restaurant has a cozy, no-frills interior with dark wood tables and a casual, welcoming atmosphere. It's not a place that tries to be trendy or upscale--instead, it focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well, and that's serving perfectly executed katsu. The space can get busy, which is always a good sign, but the service remains efficient and friendly without feeling rushed. I started with the Assorted Katsu, which is easily the best choice if you want to experience the full range of what they offer. The plate was generously portioned, featuring pork, chicken, fish, and shrimp katsu alongside rice, shredded cabbage salad, pickles, and dipping sauces. The standout here is the texture--the panko coating is incredibly crisp, light, and airy without feeling greasy. Each type of katsu had its own distinct character: the pork was juicy and rich, the chicken tender and moist, the fish delicate and flaky, and the shrimp firm with a satisfying bite. The tonkatsu sauce added a sweet and savory depth, while the creamy dressing complemented both the meat and the cabbage perfectly. I also tried the Kimchi Cheese Katsu Nabe, which was a completely different but equally enjoyable experience. Served bubbling in a hot stone bowl, it combined crispy katsu with a tangy, slightly spicy kimchi broth and a generous layer of melted cheese. The contrast of flavors was excellent--the kimchi brought brightness and heat, while the cheese added richness and balance. As the katsu soaked in the broth, the outer layer softened slightly but still retained enough texture, while the inside remained juicy. It's definitely a heavier dish, but incredibly comforting and satisfying. One element that really stood out was the cabbage salad. Finely shredded and topped with a light creamy dressing, it provided a refreshing crunch that balanced out the richness of the fried dishes. It might seem simple, but it plays an essential role in keeping the meal from feeling overwhelming. Paired with the warm rice, pickles, and soup, everything comes together as a well-rounded set rather than just a plate of fried food. Overall, this place delivers exactly what you want from a katsu restaurant: consistently crispy cutlets, generous portions, and thoughtful balance in every meal. While the interior is simple and it can get busy, the food more than makes up for it. I would absolutely recommend trying the Assorted Katsu for variety and the Kimchi Cheese Katsu Nabe if you're in the mood for something rich and bold. It's a spot I'll definitely be returning to.

We've been talking about this place for months, and finally took the plunge. Pretty glad we did,…read morebut will have to learn more before our next visit. The space is understandably understated especially during the Christmas season. Totally ok with the lack of the holiday. We were sat quickly, water dropped right away. It's larger than we thought with two separate areas which would be great if you had a large party. Knowing little about the experience we ordered the mixed Katsu experience and the cheese Katsu, understanding as we always do that we will share the food. The cheese Katsu said right on the menu one order per table, which now makes sense. Eating four pieces of it is just simply too much cheese, so plan on one half per person, hence the one per table. The mixed Katsu had, prawn, fish, chicken and pork portions which were very tasty and a good quantity. Both came with accompanying salad and rice which rounded out the meal. The salad was excellent and the rice was well cooked. We will be back for sure, hopefully with more folks so we can experiment more.

So when we heard there was going to be one opening in Abbotsford we were thrilled. Sadly we were disappointed... To start, there was no sauce, just dry noodles and veggies...I took that first dish up to counter and was told the noodles absorb all the liquid...I will mention again that I have had this same dish for about 10 years at several other locations and the dish has always been made in same consistent way...with sauce! They made me a second dish and said they added extra sauce...nope, it was still bitter and dry... I wanted to just leave the entire dish there and provide feedback but my spouse is very low key and didn't want any attention so we "packed it up to go" and said we were not as hungry as we thought and just threw it in the garbage now when we got home...we won't go back! If you are a fan of Noodlebox in the past, save yourself time & money and don't go to Abbotsford location!! What we figured out is they skip the coconut milk and seem to make it with some bitter curry...there is no smoothness or hint of sweetness that coconut milk provides but instead, too much "heat" and bitterness of the curry they use comes through. It's too bad because we really were looking forward to the convenience of the Abbotsford location but we won't be back ***update*** Emailed their head office to let them know they may need to provide some additional cooking/ training and email back was to say although the dish was off, they are happy we had good customer service. ?????? Missed the point I think!
