At the corner of 22nd street and Rupert street , there is some parking along the surrounding streets if you are comfortable doing a parallel park. We came around 9:30pm so there wasn't as many cars on the roads. They were the few restaurants open later (until 11pm). When we were seated we heard that last call was 10:15pm We were quite hungry and ordered Tray B, chicken karaage, and the crazy girl special roll. We asked if this amount would be good for too people and the server actually said it was maybe a bit much. I liked the honesty cause you would expect servers to maybe be upselling. The portions were generous and plated nicely. The Tray B was a great assortment of sushi types. The California roll was a little heavy on the rice but the salmon and tuna night was buttery smooth and my favorite pieces. The Crazy girl roll was also rice heavy but not greasy even though it was deep fried. There was a good amount of crust and the crunch went well with the cream cheese. The karaage was very big pieces , seasoned crust but a little bland in the centre. Chicken was juicy and the dish was piping hot for a while. They only refilled put tea cups once but service was prompt for everything else. They had wooden jars with utensils on each table which had the business ends down. A quick peek into the jar and it seemed a little dusty/had crumbs , a bit icky but utensils it self were is good shape. It is actually a Japanese and Korean food store , we only had the stomach room for one cuisine this time but I would come again to try the Korean food ! Seemed reasonably priced. read more

Tasty and modern Korean (Japanese?) place on the SW side of Rupert and 22nd. Parking is available just E of the building. There are also plenty of spots on the side streets. Place is nice and modern. Building is relatively new, after all. Staff are friendly and professional. Special mention. The soup bowls seem to come in different sizes, depending on the type. My spicy soft tofu stew was snack sized. It was much smaller than my friend's pork bone stew, even though the pricing difference was only $1. I wish I had known this beforehand. Quality is there, but honestly I felt a bit ripped. Be sure to check with the server about portion size. Another friend had the beef udon and the portion size was also noticeably larger than mine. Maybe I just got unlucky with my particular dish. Moral of the story - skip the pork bone stew if one is hungry. I also had the scallop tataki roll. Pretty tasty. 2 stars is being nice...the empty restaurant should have been our clue. Bulgogi was lackluster, and the vegetable yakisoba was just molasses added on the noodles. The veg was the same as the bulgogi, some cabbage onion and carrot, nothing more . the takoyaki, was too gummy on the inside but for that one I raised the review to 2 stars. I was SO fortunate to try this place for the first time by taking advantage of one of their Ubereats deals (& I have been ordering from them consistently ever since)! Behold the glorious scallop rolls with salmon roe & lightly flame roasted on top ... so so decadent and delicious. This is what keeps me coming back. And all their other dishes pictured (tempura, potato cakes, dynamite roll, salmon - were generous and delish as well. I absolutely love this place after the first visit. They recently are under new management 2 weeks ago. We ordered Chicken teriyaki Tofu soup Seafood pancake I forgot to take pictures of the other food because I was hangry. BUT as a horary Korean. It passed. Everything was soooo good. I wanted to go back the next day . Customer service was good, they checked in on us every so often to give us more tea or water The chicken was crispy like KFC. Which was soooo good. Today for lunch, we wanted some take out sushi and Dami had some nice lunch boxes for order so we opted for that and one of their special rolls. What we got were the: Teriyaki Box (beef teriyaki, california roll, salad, tempura, gyoza and miso soup) - this was a pretty good sized box with a full california roll, a nice portion of beef that was not too chewy or fatty. The tempura batter was not very crisp which could be a result of it being take out but it was rather pale and limp which makes me think thats just how their tempura is... Scallop Tataki Roll - california base + shrimp tempura with seared chopped scallop on top. Didnt love this roll as it ate quite heavily. I find that their california roll mix is a bit too heavy on the mayo and with the extra sauce ontop of this special roll, it felt very salty. In addition, the amount of scallop was very minimal and you could hardly taste it. Overall, not a bad place for sushi with reasonable prices but rice is a tad bit soft and california filling is not my favourite. read more

I've honestly been waiting for quite a while for a great sushi spot to open up near me. Finally, this void has been filled. And as a bonus, they serve Korean food as well. I've ordered a ton of sushi from Dami. I don't have any real complaints about their food. I like their selection of rolls to choose from. The Dami Roll is a personal favourite of mine. Their dynamite and house rolls are also really great. My family at times also grabs their chicken for dinner. It is really good chicken and I think among the better ones in the neighborhood. I think the family size and how much you get is a fair transaction. I also think their batter and resulting chicken is just the right amount of crunch and crisp built up. Love Dami and their food. My biggest fear of working in the office again is that I can't grab takeout from Dami as often. One of my favourite spots in the neighbourhood. read more

This hidden gem is located on 22nd ave and Rupert St. Since the eateries nearby were closed due to construction, Dami is a great addition to the neighborhood We dined in so we can try the fresh Korean fried chicken and it did not disappoint. We were glad to have ordered the Family Portion with half sweet & spicy and half original. We also got a sushi roll and 2 pc nigiri sushi The Fried chicken was juicy and crispy It was a lot of food for 2 people but we didn't mind the leftover chicken for the next day, it was still crispy! The Chopped Scallop Tataki roll was pretty tasty! They have so much to offer like bento boxes for lunch, Poke bowls, and Korean dishes like japchae and tofu soup. This is a korean running restaurant but sells both korean and Japanese food! They opened in our neighbourhood recently and we saw it was highly rated, so we decided to give it a try. We know some people only like Japanese food and do not open for korean food. But some of course love both Japanese and korean food. We are the later. We ordered their highly recommended tofu soup with seafood and rice combo, half and half fried chicken (original and sweet and spicy), house roll, Dami castle and salmon with sockeye Oshi sushi. Wow amazing! We were so happy that we tried them all. The quality was so good. The flavour and everything else were very balanced. It's not like one dish was better than others. We would love to go back and try other dishes next time. There is street parking and a few parking spots behind the restaurant. Customer service was fine. Pricing is reasonable. We ordered takeout and we were surprised that they asked us to wait for 40 mins. It's quite long for takeout. This is like the time we waited for Uber Eats but we literally went there to pick up the food after ordering on phone. It means their business is probably doing well and taking a lot of orders. Dami Sushi & Korean Restaurant is one of those spots that offers both Korean and Japanese eats. It's run by a Korean family and located around the corner from Lucky Plus Restaurant. We've been for two visits so far (both on Sunday evenings). It seem to be a very popular spot for takeout. Service is friendly but there's only one waiter doing everything out front (aka. the son). Two sets of menu; one for Korean and the other for sushi. The KFC options are regular (15-18 pieces) or family size (25-30 pieces). Trip #1 - Agedashi tofu ($5.25) - very lightly deep fried. I'd try a different appetizer next time. - Hot stone bibimbap (A) ($13.88) - better than average. They brought out the gochujang sauce separately. - Spicy tofu soup (#3) ($13.88) - we opted for the seafood. Broth had good depth and flavour with a generous portion of tofu pieces thrown in. - Salmon sashimi ($14.95 for 8) - a touch on the cold side so let these thaw out a bit before you eat them. - Negitoro roll ($3.88) and California roll ($4.30 for 8) - pretty average rolls but it's cheap. - Chopped scallop roll ($6.88 for 8) - this was the best of the bunch. They thrown in some tempura to add a crunch and the sauce drizzled on top was surprisingly good. - Salmon oshi sushi ($11.88) - rice to salmon ratio is off. Way too much rice; don't recommend if you've had quality oshi elsewhere in town. - Chicken yakisoba ($9.95) - standard yakisoba fare. Big portion of noodles if that's what you're into. Trip #2 - Banchan - kimchi, sliced fish cakes and tofu. First time seeing tofu as a side dish. - Scallop tataki roll ($11.95) - standard, typical roll. - Half & half ($30.88 family size) - they let you choose which two flavours you want so we opted for the sweet & spicy and sweet chili. This was the best dish of the evening. Good seasoning, decent crunch and not greasy. I preferred the sweet chili but the sweet & spicy was also solid. - Kimchi soup (#2) ($13.88) - mostly cabbage for veggies. Decent but the spicy tofu soup was tastier. - Gamja-tang (#7) ($14.88) - you get 3 chunks of pork. Broth is okay but lacking in depth and complexity. - Stir-fried rice cakes ($16.88) - not spicy at all but interestingly, a sweet pineapple note came through. Would be nice if they included a bowl of rice. DS&KR won't blow you away but will hit the spot if you're wanting to eat both types of cuisine. 3.5 stars. read more

Glad to try this place out by Rupert! I think the concept is interesting, they serve both Japanese and Korean food all in one place! It's literally the best of both worlds because I love Japanese food and Korean food. Their menu is quite big and they have everything you could think of that is Japanese and korean. We got a stone bowl bimbambap and the side dishes was kimchi and fish cakes. It seemed pretty fermented, it would taste better once the food came. I loved having all these palate cleansers. The best part is the salmon oshi, it's a pretty big box and very seared and saucy. They have points for presentation! I feel like they didn't put enough salmon but it was made up for me by the saucy and flavourful with each bite. Lastly the Korean fried chicken, we got a half and half with sweet and spicy and sweet chili. My go to is sweet and spicy but I actually quite enjoyed the sweet chili! It wasn't spicy it's that sweet red sauce that usually goes with spring rolls in a Chinese restaurant. I felt the chicken was a little cold and not super hot perhaps it was because of the sauce it was doused in that made it not as hot temperature. Overall, this place is nice if you want variety of two different cuisines. The service was very good too, they are quick! However, they have too much options that I think the kitchen could do more quality over quantity. If only the food was hotter it would have been better. read more

I went here about a week ago with my parents and we ordered their seafood pancake, half and half chicken (regular size), prawn tempura, and seafood ramen. The seafood pancake and chicken were my favourite! The seafood pancake was really tasty and very filling. The chicken were crispy and the flavour was great. The prawn tempura was just regular tempura that you'll get from other restaurants. The seafood ramen was just like a regular spicy instant Korean ramen you can buy from the grocery store and they just added a few muscles and shrimps in. It was still good. The staff was also really friendly and nice!! I'm looking forward to go back to this place and try their other stuff! read more

came in when firstly opened, got seated immediately with a smile. opens 11:30 somewhere said 11 so i walked around for a bit. lots of choices on menu, will forsure come back for the korean stuff tomorrow because it was pretty good. salmon toro was forsure the highlight of my meal. it was buttery, fatty, and not very fishy at all so i knew it was fresh. now for the interior, simple minimal design and decent amount of seating. id say can fit around 40 to 50 people. server was very nice and food was out decently quick. got tea refilled when almost empty and had a peaceful meal. i also got squid tempura which was a nicely sized portion. i finished everything. had a great experience here. read more

Came here to try the combination of japanese food and korean food. So we got the spicy box and just normal sushi box with spicy pork and the spicy pork was actually good though. I personally love it so much. On the other hand, we decided to try the korean stuff too from the restaurant and ordered the tteok bokki and it was quite overcooked since it got the toasted smell and taste. Also, i found a small broken pieces of the mussels shells, and it could have been worse. Nonetheless, i would like to talk about the management. Letting one person to do all the service is such a shitty thing for the owner. She was running all around to do all her job and getting so exhausted. I would recommend hiring another person to be the server. A lot of the tables are not cleaned after being used by the customers because the server had to all the job by herself. This recently opened restaurant has friendly staff and delicious food. I ordered pick up and order was ready in stated time. The half and half fried chicken was crispy and seasoned. The sweet chili fried chicken has a medium spicy kick. Regular size had about 6 medium to large bite sized cut up chicken pieces for each flavor. The sushi pizza is a feast for the eyes, great as a starter. Parking is limited in the area. There is another restaurant next door. This restaurant is under new management as of three or four weeks since this posting. I can't possibly complain about the quality of food I received - but all the same, I'm shattered. Many of the items that I loved to order are simply missing from the menu. Those gorgeous pictures of Korean-style Fried Chicken? Gone. Assorted Tempura? Missing. Those absolutely delightful Korean side dishes? No chance. The menu has been pared down, and the prices have been raised Fewer options for Oshi sushi, and the Korean menu seems like nearly an afterthought, hidden away in a single panel on the back of the menu. Higher prices isn't a huge surprise with a change of ownership (especially these days), but makes for the whole experience to be a bitter pill. All in all, the new Dami hits every standard you'd expect of an average sushi restaurant in Vancouver. And frankly, those aren't particularly hard to find around here. After checking their business hours online we drove over to this location. The sign said opened and the door was unlocked so we walked in. This was about a hour before their posted closing time. When we walked in we were immediately met with what I would describe as hostility. Two individuals stood up and started yelling for us to shit the door. They said "what are you doing it's Sunday". Like we are suppose to know not to enter an open business after a certain time because of the day of the week?
