I'm comfortable with firearms but would still consider myself at an intermediate level at best. Dennis explained things in a straight forward manner and made me feel comfortable asking a ton of questions. He gave me a lot of pointers on handgun technique and a number of drills to practice in the future. The class itself was incredibly well done, and we talked through a lot of real world scenarios which could impact a CCW holder or firearm owner. After the class we went through a couple of video/laser training drills on real world scenarios, which provided a great example of how fast your decision making has to be. I will definitely be taking future courses through Black Oak and would highly recommend them to anyone. One great thing to note is how Steve always takes the extra time with new shooters and his patience with the exercises. He also always allows students to opt out of a drill if they feel they can't do it. His other instructor Allen is just like Steve. They make a great pair for the class and teaching environment. After you're truly hyped up about being part of a class of females to feel more comfortable and at ease my enthusiasm was soon diminished by the lack of professionalism in following up. I understand that we all have other responsibilities in our lives and things happen and come up. However if you're going to be in business I feel that there should be a certain amount of accountability that you owe to the public. Otherwise you shouldn't publish misleading information giving the impression that you're going to follow up.
