I had to call the police because of the owner. I purchased a gun to protect my family during this virus epidemic. State law requires that you wait 10 days. The store called me 3 days ago and said I could pick up my shotgun today which is actually past the 10 days. I received a phone call today that my application was still pending. When I called the store back i spoke to the owner he was extremely rude and short with me. I asked him why his store called me a few days earlier and told me I had no problems picking up my gun today. He responded with if I don't like his response he would cancel my order making it so I wound have to wait another 10 days. I asked him for a phone number so I could try and follow through with the process and if others that purchased before me where abel to get their guns. He wouldn't answer about wait times and said he would give me a number only to hang up on me. He then called me back in 2 minutes saying he canceled my order that a refund would be waiting at the store. I couldn't t believe this guys anger management issues and that he would do this after waiting the 10 day period. I contacted the police, they where able was to get me a partial refund. However, even though this guy cancelled my order he did not refund me the whole amount. The state fees and their fee was not refunded now I have to wait another 10 days to get another weapon. To the owner: I understand we are in hard times right now and that I'm sure your under a lot of stress. But you shouldn't t take your stress out on customers you should be great full you still have a job/business. Yes everything might be backlogged but you can nicely explain that and not have your employees call me and tell me I'm ok to pick up on a day only to not be. And to cancel a contract after waiting 10 days putting my family at risk just because your mad and taking away my legal right to purchase a gun shame on you . Then to take part of my money that you did not refund even worse. I hope others read this when deciding to do business there or purchase a gun. Treat people right. We are all going through a lot right now . I really wish I had read all the reviews on here before coming in appears he has done this to many people. read more

I went in today for the first time to pick up a large Browning Gun Safe. Everyone that i dealt with could not have been more helpful and friendly. From the Cashier to the two young men in the yard that helped me load up the safe for it's ride home. They communicated well, had a great attitude and made the process go very easy. I will never go back to SOS, I went to buy ammo and because I didn't have everything I needed and said I would go back to the store I bought my gun from, the lady behind the gun counter came out behind the counter and followed me to the front where I was trying to buy a yeti, took it out of my hands and said you can buy the yeti from a different store as well. mind you I have bought probably $400 worth of yetis from there. I don't even live in Yuba city but trying to support a local business and not a corporate business and look where that got me. After becoming an unexpected caretaker for some baby chicks (hens), we needed to find a place that would carry the proper feed. Petsmart/Petco do not regularly carry any such things anymore, and at best you can find overpriced cracked corn, which is fine for fully grown hens, but not for chicks. I was skeptical of Sutter Orchard; not originally being from the area, the exterior doesn't look like the most welcoming, having seen the large and slightly dilapidated SOS sign passing by; I'm new to some of the rural/farm side of life, and this was my first feed store I've actually been to. But I have to say, I was really impressed with Sutter Orchard! The people were pretty helpful and friendly, they have a great selection, whether you have horses, chickens, dogs, cats, or whatever; they even had a refrigerated antibiotic section for specific animals, if that's something you're needing. The place is also fairly nice, quaint, but still very nice inside; as far as small businesses go, they really seem to take care of it. The only downside would be the price; I know much of it can be found cheaper, and the stuff that is found at the big-box stores can be found much much cheaper (tools especially). But, for a store that has a good selection, carries less-common items, is conveniently located, and has friendly staff, I will become a regular here. read more

I have dealt with these folks for years on and off and they have always treated me great. I can't stand driving to yuba city but I will if I need something from them. It's the best place around for chicken stuff and the hunting section is great. The staff is always helpful and friendly and not stuck up snobs like union lumber. The prices are a bit high compared to some mail order places but if you need something for hunting in a hurry they are the folks to deal with. They are also a California waterfowl supporter witch is a big plus for me. read more

Great products and selection, but I won't be back here since my husband who loves this stuff literally could not get into the building (no ramp????? Really?) and the employees couldn't care less. I would love to leave zero stars but you can't. Recently won a ar-15 at the Yuba Sutter brew fest. I went to pick this rifle up and the customer service was absolutely terrible. We tell one of the co owners and he's like no problem I'll take care of it and then my father in law goes to pick it up and the same guy gives my father in law a nasty ass chewing you wouldn't believe and says we are no longer welcome. Well I'm a E3 in the United States Marine Corps and had plans to buy some hand guns when I return from my deployment but that's not gonna happen ever. When he finally got off after about 10 minutes he said he had a lot of work to do and since I wasn't a regular, if I wasn't going to spend much money' he didn't have time for me. SOS or Sutter Orchard Supply is the worst company to go through. I bought a Springfield XD .40 caliber and was waiting my 10 days, when I realized that they written on the paperwork 11 days. So I called and asked about it and they treated me like I was garbage. The "manager" I talked to got upset when I ask why he was being rude with my questions. Apparently their company policy is 11 days, maybe you should tell your customer that before you take their money. He said, "listen guy, I can just cancel your DROS right now and refund your money". So I took him up on that offer and will be taking my $700 gun purchase to another gun shop. Congratulations, I will never purchase another item in that store. Wish I could give no stars... This place knows how to take care of its customers. I had to special order 6 squirrel traps and they called 3 different suppliers to find them. Purchased grass hay at a premium price approximately three weeks ago and when I checked the load 90 percent of the hay was grassy alfalfa which is a lower quality and cheaper priced hay. I told the clerk inside what I had found and her help unloaded the hay and sorted the hay until I had bales that contained more grass than alfalfa. At which time I was told that the next time I come in to purchase hay, I would be given a discount for not receiving what I had paid for. Well... I went in today to purchase more hay and when paying for it I ask about the promised discount and a rude person behind the counter advised me that I wouldn't be getting a discount as promised because they had paid full grass hay pricing for the hay... I than advised him that I was paying a premium price for his grass hay not grassy alfalfa and I should get the discount as promised.. The clerk then got even more aggressive and told me that I wasn't getting the discount. I have spent thousands of dollars on hay at SOS, but never again. They have lost a good paying and loyal customer. By the way, before speaking to the clerk, I was told by another employee that they had sorted out 20 bales of grassy alfalfa from the lots of grass hay that they had received and sold it at a discounted price to get rid of it read more
