Dr. Shafipour is absolutely amazing. He is extremely easy to connect with when you are having a problem and is the kind of doctor you can only dream of having. I have not felt well for many years and it has never been diagnosed so I am constantly bugging him for suggestions as to whom to see next. He is extremely patient with me and does his utmost to find answers. He once said he likes to treat his patients as he would like to be treated. Well he would certainly be treated well. She's been nothing but caring and practical, in addition to being a great diagnostician. She's gone the extra mile a number of times, and once in particular when I went in with severe abdominal pain and she "nailed" the diagnosis, called ahead to the ER with instructions, checked in that night and was persistent in getting me the surgery I needed when the on call surgeon was attempting to delay the surgery to the next morning (presumably because she wasn't wanting to stay later than expected). Dr. Sorotzkin's persistence paid off, and I got my surgery within the hour (around midnight). I'd recommend her to anyone. I rarely write reviews but when reading these (just found them after searching to verify the address) I was prompted to register and post because they are so at odds with my experience (see her at least three times a year for eight years). I think it's great how for common illnesses, they will work you in that day to see a physician's assistant who can do a basic exam and write prescriptions - or bring in a doctor if it's more serious. I've recommended her to others, all of whom had similarly positive results. I hate to see anyone like her get a bad rep - I've had many doctors in my life, in many parts of the country, and I'd rate her among the top."

My last visit…read morethere, I had experienced the same thing, but now they're paying attention to the patients instead of laughing and chatting high-pitched at that front desk. Today I was treated very well and professionally by the woman at the right side of the desk. They previously were my only complaint about the office, and now I can focus on how fabulous Dr. Ruth Sorotzkin is! She reads the notes carefully from all the previous visits I've had, offers suggestions for preventative care, listens well to my input and quickly follows up with an Rx or an Imaging Request. She's fun, she's funny, and she's clever on top of being a thorough primary care doctor. I'm proud to have her as my PCP.

Three days ago my hubby complained of fatigue, left sore throat pain, left ear pain. Against my admonishment, he continued to go about his business pure pluck until it wasn't. Immediately rapid Covid tested both of us. Negative two days in a row. Hey, he breathes where I breathe. Sunday, allegedly "Funday" would it be mimosas or urgent care? The latter. He kept telling me he went to UCLA urgent care. I Yelped it. Uh huh, nothing there. Finally, he found a business card in his Rolodex for here. (Yeah, who has one of those? He does.) Since we're both in the St. Johns' Providence system, I recommended we go to urgent care here today (no forms to fill out, etc.) since at the beginning of the pandemic lock down with zero home testing available, he was sick. He went here. Was it a cold or was it Covid then? Cold. Praise be! "Call them from that Rolodex card!", I yelled to determine if care is available on Sunday. It is. M-F: 8:30AM - 7:30PM Saturday & Sunday: 10:00AM - 2:30PM (Doors promptly lock at 2:20PM). Arrived at 11:30AM. Processed and seen by noon even with a few folks ahead. Vitals (A-OK), Covid, Strep test taken, negative. GREAT doctor! Professionalism with a capital "P". Sent home with OTC med Rx and to return or contact primary physician, or EMS if symptoms worsen. P.S. Photos and videos are prohibited! Couldn't even snap a pic of the flyer saying so without getting in trouble...

They increasingly push you to make appointments for even minor requests, yet there seems to be very little urgency or consideration for the patient's time. Most recently, I waited more than 30 minutes for a scheduled Zoom appointment. When the doctor finally joined, there was no apology, just a series of excuses about how busy they are, including what came across as throwing colleagues under the bus? The staff have become increasingly rude and unhelpful, while the doctors often seem more focused on moving patients through the system and keeping everything in-house than actually listening to or addressing the patient's needs. You can easily find yourself being passed from one doctor to another, with no one taking real ownership of your care. What is most disappointing is the complete lack of empathy and personal attention. After being a patient here for years, I've finally reached the point where I'm done. I'm looking elsewhere for a practice that values its patients, respects their time, and actually provides a reasonable level of care and service. It's genuinely disappointing to see how much this practice has deteriorated.

Unfortunately, her front desk is the reason my gf doesn't get the care she deserves. My gf has to call 6 or 7 times (leaving voicemails) sometimes before she gets a call back. I have to constantly see her stress about not hearing back or not getting her prescription refilled. There has been 2 situations where my gf just had to go to urgent care because she could not get a hold of the doctor or even a call back. Who is in charge of scheduling or answering phones at this place?! What kind of business is being run here? This doctor is a great doctor. I have met her myself and her care is amazing, but what's the point of being such a great doctor if it takes 2 months to make an appointment or have such a rude receptionist who never replies back. I am rating this on a whole, and as a whole, I am not happy with this place.

That was the same day I had a problem with the front office about scheduling an appointment through the Mychart portal. I opened the documentation notes and low and behold the person I spoke with over the phone that day Cynthia, has taken it upon herself to add notes regarding our interaction. These notes paint a false narrative, were not added by my doctor, and do not in any way pertain to my medical well being. Cynthia has her name attached to the documentation, listed as Cynthia H. I think it is grossly unprofessional to have a front desk worker/scheduler add any notes to a patient's medical profile on the Mychart portal, that are not pertaining to patient health. Notes regarding a bad interaction on a telephone call have nothing to do with one's health. These types of notes should be entered into one's file in that specific office, not on the Mychart portal. Even after the numerous bad interactions I've had with front desk workers there, they have never added notes regarding these interactions to the Mychart portal, only Cynthia H. This kind of unprofessional behavior solidifies that I have made the right decision to move on from this office. I ran into Dr. Lily Nourmand in person last week at a birthday party and she was very pleasant as always. Again, it's unfortunate that front desk workers have the ability to ruin relationships between doctors and their patients.

He has a busy practice, but his focus is on you - the patient from the minute he enters the exam room. He has many years of experience and has a lot of skills in his tool kit from the vast amount of patients he has seen over time. Not necessarily tied by convention, he's also a musician, a stellar guitar player. To me, that's just icing on the cake. I think it makes him more sensitive, caring and undoubtedly, non-judgemental of his patients. BTW, Dr. Stephen, our condo burned down in Malibu and I have been stuck up here in Seattle for five years. And, I have an Eric Clapton pick for you back in Malibu. Dr. Uyeki does not take United Health Care Insurance anymore even though UHC's website for 2019…read moresays that he is in Network for 2019. The Dr. says that they have not been with UHC for years but UHC says otherwise. This doctor is very selective about the types of insurance he accepts, and the plans in each insurance company he accepts so before coming here I would first call the insurance company to confirm and then double confirm with Dr. Uyeki's office. This can change year by year so always check each Jan 1 as doctors dip in and out of insurance networks. This Office is closed on Thursdays. They speak fluent Japanese here and that clientele makes up a large part of their practice. This Dr. also does not do x-rays in office anymore but does do blood draws and then sends them out. He used to take blood and x-rays and develop them in office--no more. On my most recent annual exam in 2018 on a Friday, he called me the next day on a Saturday to say all the blood results are okay that he had results on before all were completed. By the following Monday the rest of the results were in but he did not call again to say those were okay--I suspect because there was no problem. But after looking after all the results I saw that one test was not ordered that usually is every year (PSA) so I called the office to report that and they got it tested that week. He did not call on that result, I guess because it was okay. The long and short is that with the way medicine is practiced in Los Angeles for years and the influence of Insurance Companies--you need to be very proactive and keep records to compare on your own. The blood draws here are professional and leave no mark. You have to pay for parking in this building. The staff is pleasant. If you don't have insurance, they do take cash--call and ask them for a quote. This office is part of Cedar Sinai and if they refer you it will most likely be to a Cedar doctor.

He listens attentively when I tell him about symptoms I've been experiencing and plans out clear, logical steps to address them. Anytime he's referred me to be tested for something, he's followed up with me about the results within a day or two of the test. He's smart, genial, and well-connected to great specialists around LA. I totally trust him to manage my healthcare. If you live in the West LA area and are looking for a primary care physician, you can't do any better than Dr. Uyeki.
