Wanted to pull my review of Dr. Sorotzkin from 2009 into this listing since she's moved practices. While they are below (I think), the most pertinent part is: _____ "Dr. Sorotzkin is my primary physician and has been for eight years. She's been nothing but caring and practical, in addition to being a great diagnostician. She's gone the extra mile a number of times, and once in particular when I went in with severe abdominal pain and she "nailed" the diagnosis, called ahead to the ER with instructions, checked in that night and was persistent in getting me the surgery I needed when the on call surgeon was attempting to delay the surgery to the next morning (presumably because she wasn't wanting to stay later than expected). Dr. Sorotzkin's persistence paid off, and I got my surgery within the hour (around midnight). I'd recommend her to anyone. I rarely write reviews but when reading these (just found them after searching to verify the address) I was prompted to register and post because they are so at odds with my experience (see her at least three times a year for eight years). I think it's great how for common illnesses, they will work you in that day to see a physician's assistant who can do a basic exam and write prescriptions - or bring in a doctor if it's more serious. I've recommended her to others, all of whom had similarly positive results. I hate to see anyone like her get a bad rep - I've had many doctors in my life, in many parts of the country, and I'd rate her among the top." read more

I'm glad that Susan L wrote that review about the front desk not being professional. My last visit there, I had experienced the same thing, but now they're paying attention to the patients instead of laughing and chatting high-pitched at that front desk. Today I was treated very well and professionally by the woman at the right side of the desk. They previously were my only complaint about the office, and now I can focus on how fabulous Dr. Ruth Sorotzkin is! She reads the notes carefully from all the previous visits I've had, offers suggestions for preventative care, listens well to my input and quickly follows up with an Rx or an Imaging Request. She's fun, she's funny, and she's clever on top of being a thorough primary care doctor. I'm proud to have her as my PCP. read more

What a group of do nothing entitled to their jobs catty women. Sarah away from Sylvia Florentina and Heather. Had my first exam in over a decade. Had been with the office for over six years no problem. i added Sylvia if I could correct my number so I could get the appt reminders. She said she did not have that job and had nothing to do with imputing then correct number. On the day of the appt after handing back the completed form she the yells at me for not putting it into her hand. She takes Florntinz off to the side thinking I would by hear her and says she won't help me. After attempting to reach the manager to tell her my frustration with the bad service, Florentina says the manager doesn't talk to patients there was no offer to leave a name and number just a bunch of excuses why Heather wasn't the person to talk to. Unless you're a concierge patient don't expect to get any response from this office. Dr. Sorotzkin has been my physician for 20 years and I did not elect to pay for concierge services. I'm very disappointed in the way her office is run and the condescending attitude of her staff. Perhaps those other patients receive better treatment. I've tried to get a refill on a prescription I've had for 25 years and it took a week and multiple messages through the portal and phone calls including 10 minutes of wait time to talk to someone in order to have them contact the pharmacy. Best not to need anything from this office. read more

This review is for Lauren Gorence - She is great! She takes the time to talk to you and is kind. She responds to emails which is amazing these days since many offices do not. With all the frustrating changes in insurance, doctors office policies etc. it is so nice to see a practitioner that cares about the patient. read more

WOW, after years of my wife going there and I telling her that is the absolute worst medical office in the city and so is the Doctor. She finally understood what I was seeing with the lack of care they gave her. The staff never ever give her messages, when she does get them she ignores them and also ignores the States guidelines for COVID. Her lack of professional care or simply listening is absurd and rude. And in regards to Lauren both are completely useless. FYI I am still discussing it with my attorneys if we will file a lawsuit for malpractice. WORST PHYSICIAN AND OFFICE, I wish I could give minus 100 stars for their complete lack of care. SHE SUCKS read more

We have been going to Dr Sorotzkin office for more than 20 yes. She attentive and a good listener. Both my parents and are grateful to have her as our Physician. The staff is always helpful and calls us back in a timely manner. They always follow through. read more

At this point, not seeing patients if they have a sore throat or even a runny nose is unacceptable. Why be a doctor if you won't see your patients when they get sick? We have had both our covid vaccine shots for months. Receptionist didn't even ask. read more

Dr. Sorotzkin was my GP for a year, altho I never actually met her until I went in after being rear-ended in a car accident. She never actually examined me either at this visit, just sat in a chair on the other side of the room and asked me questions. After telling me that I was fine and nothing was wrong with me, she put down on my chart that I had a preexisting condition. My insurance refused to cover the visit because of this mysterious preexisting condition and I'm dealing with getting this situation resolved a year after my visit. If I have a condition, I'd really love to know about it! read more

It is now 3 but i don't know if this billing issue is not resolved.... I was charged an outrageous amount and now that a corporation is handling the billing no one is willing to deal with this over charge. I was told that I was rude and basically was hung up on. I have been a patient for a long time.... I also brought my daughter and she received sub-par care. read more

I am extremely pleased with Dr. Sorotzkin and her staff - they are friendly, responsive and somehow the experience manages to be peaceful. The new office has a very calm, serene feel to it. They take the time to follow up with you after your visit and fully answer any questions you have. I've seen a handful of doctors over the last 10 years (due to relocation, job changes, etc) and my experience at Dr. Sorotzkin's office has been the best. read more

This office is NOT interested in the patient. The nurse was very rude when my daughter went for a TB test appointment. She said it's only certain days for nurses visits and that day wasn't one of them....BUT, the appointment was made by the office for that day. There was no apology or offer to make an exception since it was their fault. How long does it take for a shot...less than a few minutes and they wouldn't even do it. I actually stopped going to this office a couple years ago because of the unhelpful staff. read more

Has been my GP for the past couple of years. Easy to schedule an appointment, especially if you are seen by Lauren Gorence, the PA, who works there and has seen me each time. She is professional, intelligent, quick, and kind. They take many forms of insurance, which is great. read more

I have been with Dr. Sorotzkin for 3 years now. I have SEVERE trust issues along with a health challenge I have found Dr. Sorotzkin to be patient and understanding. She is through and can gently be a no nonsense physician. Which I value greatly. She will also wait for you to come to terms with your diagnosis and the resulting ramifications. I have recommended her to several friends and colleagues who have been more than satisfied. If you want intelligence, skill, compassion, and humor when you need it, this is the physician you want on your medical team. She checks in on you...how many docs do that? ?? read more

Dr. Sorotzkin is the most intuitive doctor I've ever known. She has a sixth sense about what is going on within a person as a whole being. She takes care of my entire family and most of my friends. She is dedicated to her profession and knowing the latest and best treatments, and is very kind in the way she deals with sensitive matters. Her P.A. is a huge addition to the office and very friendly. I love seeing her as well. The responsiveness of the office both during the day and on-call is fast and caring. And-- as a topper, she take my insurance and the office does the billing. Love her. read more

I've seen Lauren Gorence as both my primary care physician and also for gynecological needs. She's really amazing; she initially help me out with some medical issues related to a trip to China. It was more time for her, and it wasn't something she needed to do, but she went out of her way to help me, anyway. Once, when I I asked her a question via their online system, she answered me very promptly, and when I didn't respond after a couple days, she called me directly to check in. I never feel like I'm rushed when I visit, and she's always very willing to listen and answer questions. If you want to schedule an annual checkup, however, do note that you need to usually book 1 to 2 months ahead of time. read more

i was a patient of Dr. Sorotzkin for over 13 years. it has gotten harder and harder to get an appointment for a physical and it is very hard to get a referral out of her to see a specialist. I think that might be because the HMO group of doctors isn't that big and the specialists are even more swamped than Dr. Sorotzkin. If you are basically healthy, she is a good doctor. If you have something a-typical, try someone else. the newer doctors (the ones without their name on the door) are very green and should be avoided if possible - unless you know exactly what you have and what you want. i had to wait for over 1.5 hours in a patient room to see Dr. Sorotzkin in September - it is usually long enough at 30+ minutes but that was really ridiculous. the office staff has improved over the years, but i have had problems where they lost my appointment or set one up with the wrong doctor. read more

Went here for a first visit earlier this week. Dr. Sorotzkin was kind, friendly, relatable, and real. She didn't draw unnecessary labs and tests even though it was my first appointment- which many doctors require. She was sincere, knowledgeable , and kind. Happy to find a general practitioner in Santa Monica who I can trust and who has openings. Made an appointment with the PA, Lauren for a physical and am excited to meet her. read more

I called for a new patient appointment an hour before closing yesterday and the receptionist was able to give me a next day appointment, not with the doctor, but with the PA. I've seen nurse practitioners before and never had a problem, so I thought what the heck, if it gets me seen sooner, I'm all for it. I got there early today to fill out paperwork (surprisingly minimal!) and pretty much as soon as I returned the insurance paperwork to the receptionist, a nurse was out to get me -- 30 minutes BEFORE my appointment time. She did the vitals and left so I could change. I sat down for maybe two minutes after changing when there was a knock on the door. I must say, I LOVE Lauren, the PA. She kind, smart, funny, and she actually listens to symptoms, complaints, and questions. She is by far the most caring healthcare professional that I have seen in years. She spent a full hour with me and was very considerate and thorough. She wrote me a prescription for a very specific form of birth control, gave me a referral to a specialist to get something checked, and made sure I had the information I needed so I could get better educated about my runner's knee. The only small thing I didn't like is that she didn't give me my 1st choice for the prescription, but that was because she was literally not able to do it -- neither she nor Dr Sorotzkin have been trained on Implanon (the subdermal birth control implant). She did, however, offer to find an OB/GYN who would do it for me if I wanted. Great! On top of all that awesomeness, I've always hated pelvic exams, but this was the first one I have ever gotten that didn't feel like I was being molested -- just a little discomfort, and that was it. I don't even care about seeing Dr Sorotzkin for future appointments now, I will request Lauren every time! The lab/tech staff was great, too. I needed a very specific, fairly rare test done and they worked with me to get me the information that I needed to see if it would be covered by my insurance. Between my experiences with Lauren and the other staff at Dr Sorotzkin's office, I think I've found myself a new doctor! read more

I do not usually use these sites, but I really want to share with the world what an amazing physician Dr. Sorotzkin is! I dont care what others may say in this website...there are always exceptions and people who may not be happy with the way a doctor approaches things or the way they see their own health issues. I can tell whoever reads this that I would not be alive writing this post if it was not for Dr. Sorotzkin. Even before my cancer diagnosis, I would have recommended her to everyone and anyone even before. she is polite, thorough,and always responsive. She really invests in your health. If you want a doctor who will be your advocate and fight for you, she is your girl! I send my two children to her and recommend her to all of my friends as well and they love her. I had my first appointment with Dr. Sorotzkin yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased! All I can say is everything about my experience far exceed my expectations. From Dr. Sorotzkin's knowledge and sincere compassion, to the wonderful staff, to the beautiful office....everything was amazing. I can't remember the last time I felt so cared for and not just a wigit on an assembly line (get it thru as fast as you can). I didn't have to wait in the waiting room or the exam room. Dr. Sorotzkin is a fabulous doctor who spends time with you to see if there is anything you might like to talk about that isn't apparent. She takes care of me and all my men (husband and sons)who are all grown. She saved one son twice when he found himself very ill. She never gives up and if she can't solve your problem she sends you to a good specialist . I can't recommend her enough . read more

Usually I only give really good or really bad yelp reviews. I can't believe I haven't given Dr. Sorotzkin the full thumbs up yet! I have been going to her for several years. Sure, you sometimes wait a bit -- where doesn't that happen -- but overall, less than in other places. Dr. Sorotzkin knows her stuff! She is pleasant and courteous and pays attention to you. She actually listens, which is very important. Her PA Lauren is equally awesome, and her other staff is friendly and competent as well. I'm so happy I've found her. read more
