Nora's Sugar Shack is an Orlando treasure. There is truly no other experience like it. Nora is so fun and very welcoming. She offers a great selection of craft beer cans along with an assortment of other goodies. I really enjoyed the "pastryarchy". There is a fair amount of indoor and outdoor seating. The community vibe is great. We enjoyed sitting inside and trying to read all the stickers and signs on the wall. Be sure to come in! read more

Nora's Sugar Shack is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening if you like great beer and good cigars. I have been here about 3 times on my visits to Orlando, and every time is a good time. This past Saturday I was doing my own personal beer crawl and Nora's was one of the stops on my route. Nora's tucked me into the rabbit hole with a bunch of friendly character, great retro music and some really good conversations with people ai have never met before. I would have stayed longer, but the pub crawl people starred showing up which really changed the vibe. Still though, I had a wonderful time and I am going to try to make this one of my stops whenever I am in the area. Just a note if you smoke cigars and bring your own, the is a $5 cutting fee. I like to smoke my own, but will buy a cigar from Nora in lieu of the cutting fee. read more

I walked in yesterday afternoon Thursday May 7th with my wife. We had a great experience at Nora's Sugar Shack. The owner is truly a unique person -- very down to earth, welcoming, and the kind of person who makes you feel like you've known them for years. Walking into the place felt more like stepping into someone's living room than a typical bar, with a relaxed atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The whole vibe reminded us of an old-school bar in Key West -- casual, friendly, and full of character. One of the highlights of the afternoon was meeting a local named Mike, and spending time talking about the good old days in Miami and the Keys. It was one of those authentic experiences that's hard to find anymore and made the afternoon memorable. read more

I have driven by Nora's so many times and thought this was just a walk in store. I walked over after having dinner at Santiago's Bodega (literally less than 1 min walk) and was shocked to find that this is a legit hangout. We walked thru the side gate and was greeted by one of the rescue dogs, immediate plus! =) Nora came out and knew we were newbies and greeted us to come in grab a beer and hangout. This is an actual house turned beer, wine and cigar shop in a home setting with sofa's and tables inside and out on the patio. She had my favorite Kentucky Bourbon Ale beer and we sat around and talked to Nora and the locals. I also wanted to buy a bottle of Cabernet and went into the wine room. She asked what I like to drink and handpicked the Hillside Juggernaut Cab which was exactly the type of wine I was looking for. We need more places like Nora's where you can kick back and relax and not spend a fortune while you're out. This is a humble spot that is celebrating 17 years soon. This place is cool as fuck. I don't know how else to describe it. We couldn't figure out how to get in, & once we made it past the gate, Nora greeted us with a "we already saw you, mother fuckers!" My boyfriend found a movie night hosted at Nora's Sugar Shack on a Saturday night. We decided to attend for our date night. Nora's does not serve food but we were able to get take out somewhere and bring it over to eat. Nora's is very cozy. She has tables in the back. During movie night she gives you a bucket and you go inside and look over your beer, cider, or wine options and write them down and give it to her. She will bring you the bucket. We ate our take out while she was setting up for the movie to start. You bring your own chairs. It was a great event. Only thing is there are A LOT of mosquitos so bring your bug spray. What an amazing spot. I used to live in Orlando, off of Virginia Ave actually. I hated Orlando as a teen and moved as far away as possible (Arizona). Anyways, I still have fam in the 407 so here I am back in the City Beautiful. If only I knew there were cool spots like this in Orlando before, I wouldn't have carried so much disdain. My boyfriend and I wandered into Nora's on a whim. On the outside, it looks like a bar, maybe someone's house. We walked in and were greeted by Nora. She's friendly and knows her beers. This place is soooo cool! It's a small house inside Ivanhoe that makes you feel like you're visiting your awesome best friend. Nora is amazing, she's incredibly friendly and accommodating to everyone she encounters. Even outside of her business! Story time: I was standing next to some big lug of a guy at a concert in town.. he kept shoving me into the bannister and blocking my view, I tried to get off the banister and he started screaming at me! Rude. Know who came to my rescue? Nora!! No joke!! She got the guy off my case and asked if I was okay. It was one of the sweetest interactions I've ever had with a practical stranger! This woman is the gem of Orlando. I recognized her from her shop and stopped there the next week. She had my favorite cider available, the Mackenzie's Black cherry... yum!! A wide selection of beers, cigars and an ambiance that you wish your house was. Her little dog is sooo cute and friendly and we sat for hours relaxing with a drink and staring around the walls. We explained that we met her at the concert and she sat with us talking about how much fun the show was and how much she loved the band. This place is a hoot!! From the whacky, artsy decor, to the homey vibe, to the eccentric-but-utterly-adorable brand-conscious Nora herself in her lively red 'n whites. All I basically had to do was tell her my beer preference. She then rushed back to her stash and within seconds... BAM... I'm sipping a German dunkel I'd never tried before but thoroughly enjoyed! So much attention was spent on detail here, maximizing every inch of this house. And yes, expect tons of personality to match it! It's still in its infancy, but long-term I think this one's a keeper.
