Our hot water heater was going out - it was about twenty-eight years old. We have Norco Heating and Air Conditioning service our furnace and air conditioner, and have been super pleased with them. So I called and asked if they install tankless water heaters, to which I was told they do. Peter came out and gave us an estimate. Yesterday a crew came out and did the installation. The crew was two installer and two electricians. The crew was outstanding- very polite and respectful. They actually took an hour less than was estimated. When we received the bill via email it was less than estimated. When I called to pay over the phone, I asked about the lower price. My family purchased a home in which Norco was subcontracted by the builder In 2019. They installed at the time an instant hot water heater that has now completely failed. We have done annual maintenance on said unit but not through Norco as they are not a company I would hire. The unit has now failed due to malfunction with the coil. My husband went to file against the 15yr warranty with the company to which it was denied due to being installed incorrectly. Norco had the guidelines as they do for all new equipment and failed to do quality work. We had a Norco tech come out and confirm the system to be compromised/failed and confirmed the measurements of the exhaust (the issue with the warranty denial) were in fact installed incorrectly by Norco at the initial build. My home with 2 small children has no hot water. The office called my husband the following day saying they are not going to replace it or fix since we didn't have them maintenance it. There is no contractual agreement or warranty issue with a homeowner doing basic maintenance on a system. I caution anyone, individual or company to hire Norco for anything. They are not a company of integrity, quality work, or any amount of honest customer service. Hiring them means coughing up a lot of money to have someone do it the right way and then reporting to L&I, BBB, and small claims court. read more

Our house was constructed in 1901-and the heating boiler is about the same vintage-so as with age comes a little pain. The old boiler or beast as I like to call "It" quit one night-So a call was made to NORCO Heating- The two technicians arrived on time proceeded to analyze the situation from top to bottom-came up with a solution and got the o' beast working again. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. We had $3,000.00 worth of new equipment installed by Norfolk - a hepa filter, air purifier, and humidifier. The air purifier was the most expensive. It continues to leak a peroxide smell into my home. I've call three times for help. They came out and put it at its lowest setting. It still leaks a terrible smell. The end result was, "We will have the general manager call you". That was over a month ago. No one called. I got no help. They got their money, so they won't give me the time a day. For thousands of dollars, it still puts out a horrible smell. No help. read more

I've recently purchased a home here in Spokane. The AC unit was never used by the previous owners, so in an attempt to be proactive, I contacted Norco to evaluate the system. A lead tech with a trainee arrived and it appeared they were thorough in their checks. They gave us a clean bill of health on the system, however: after using for two days discovered a major water leak. Contacted Norco again and a different tech arrived. He phoned the office for assistance and the determination was a corroded drip pan. Norco was to research replacement of the pan. We've heard nothing for two weeks. And we've had heat in the upper 90s since July 4th. Out of pocket so far: $215 and no resolution. Update 8/15/2014: called Banner. Next day service. Within 5 minutes the tech found a water exit hose that was not routed or connected to anything! Thumbs down to Norco. Didn't see this in the first place and completely off the mark for the drip pan. Which, BTW, is NOT corroded. read more

Bruce saved me! I called their office on a Friday morning during the first below-freezing week of the year, after calling about 10 other companies who gave me a week out option with a four hour window. The ladies in the office were super nice and put me on their wait list and made suggestions to help me find someone. I had given up hope when I received a call from Bruce at 6:30 on a Friday night! He fixed my furnace in about 20 minutes, got the whole system perfect. Showed me how to clean it myself next time, and was professional and very kind. The whole thing cost 107$, another company had quoted 168$ just to come out. It would have been a very cold weekend for me and my young kids if it wasn't for these awesome people. We started having issues with the furnace (and heat pump) last summer, and have had 3 service calls with the company that installed both back in 2006, but they never resolved the issue. When it stopped working again the other day, we were done with dealing with the original company. I got a referral from my boss' wife that Norco had always done good work for them, so I called Norco. Service was great from the person who answered the phone to the person who came out to fix our furnace. They were able to come out the same day. He had it diagnosed within a half hour, fixed and running within 2. We're VERY happy! read more

We had Norco Heating & AC put in a tankless hot water heater for us last week. They were fabulous! From my initial call to the actual installation was two days. Casey and Tyler took out our old tank with extreme care and installed the new one with efficiency and professionalism. They did an amazing job with the piping and everything. It looks great, works great and we are extremely happy. The price was very reasonable, service was excellent and staff was polite and professional. I wish I could make this 10 stars. We have never been happier. Peter, the salesman was out on a Wednesday and our new air conditioner was in by Thursday afternoon. This house is 65 years old and never has had AC. This being my childhood home, it has been heaven to us. Mike and Cam (the technicians) were great. Noticed that the house wasn't cooling and went out to the A/C unit outside to discover what I thought was the motor not spinning. Called Norco and they had a cancellation so they were out within the hour. Jessee did an amazing job finding that it was a bad capacitor, gave me several options for replacement cost and there was no pressure for anything else. We had a ductless cooling system installed in our home. Everyone involved from the person that came to our home to give us the estimate to the installers of the system were friendly and professional. Although an error was made in the installation, Norco had a man to our home the same day we notified them of the error. We were very impressed with the after installation same day service. I originally had another company come out to diagnose the problem (only because I couldn't remember who looked at my furnace last). They wanted to charge me almost $800 to fix the problem. I determined that Norco had helped me previously so I called them to find out how much they would charge. They came in under $400: HUGE difference. Yesterday (7-1-14) at about 1:15pm, I noticed that my heat pump wasn't running my forced air. Of course it was the HOTTEST day of the year so far, 97 degrees. I called "Barton Boys" first and was told that a tech would be out in a little while. Then at about 3:45pm I received a call from the tech saying they weren't going to be able to make it out and would come the next afternoon. I was pissed because your word is your bond. Knowing that most places closed at 5:00pm and that I would NOT be able to get a different company to my house that same evening. I was now looking at another day in a hot house with 2 little dogs. This just didn't sit well with me because screw me once it's your fault BUT screw me twice, then it's my fault. My gut told me to get on the phone (5:05pm) and see what I could get set up. I just couldn't trust the "Barton Boys" again because I felt that they lied to me. They had the fish on the hook and waited til they knew that I wouldn't be able to find another person to come to my house on that same day. So, I called NORCO Heating & Cooling and was told a tech could be at my house the very next morning between 8:00am - 9:00am. I jumped on it because there was no way I was going to give the"Barton Boys" another chance to screw me again. I guess the name speaks volumes, BOYS. If you want the job done right then hire men, NOT BOYS. Kent from Norco showed up right on time and knew exactly what was wrong. He put the new part on and checked everything else to make sure it was all running like it should be. He also changed my filter (at no charge) to which that wasn't part of the problem. I was very nervous because of what the "Barton Boys" had done to me and couldn't help to think that this other company might do the same thing to me. I was pleasantly surprised and "SO HAPPY" WITH MY SERVICE that I won't be calling anyone else but NORCO....... There was NO PRESSURE, NO SCAMS and no added parts to pad the bill. I also want you to know that the gal that took my call was SO HELPFUL & NICE, she told me about their yearly service plan. I live over an hour out of town so it does cost me a little more, which I am happy to pay. My cost is $250. for the maintenance plan for the year. That includes a winter inspection and a summer inspection and any emergency calls in that year. All I have to pay for on the emergency calls is labor and parts with a 15% discount, NO SERVICE CALL FEE, which for my area is $149. I only paid $100 extra dollars for this plan and I still get another maintenance call. YOU MUST PAY FOR THE PLAN IN ADVANCE, you can not have them do the work and then decide to pay for the plan because of the cost of your bill. That is not fare to the company. Paid $250. for an annual service agreement for our furnace and air unit. The associates came by, spent 15 minutes, tested 3 wires and left. One associate was training the other - uck. Our previous provider, that we have since returned to, worked for over an hour - not 15 minutes. This entire operation was a total and complete farce. read more

As a home owner with what only can be described as a "home destruction project" I am tired of being in tears caused by rude and overbearing contractors. Seems to be a trend in Spokane, WA. So, I am not an online blogger by nature but I will be positing several ratings. Perhaps it will save another home owner from the grief, frustration, and undo costs especially another single women. My experience with getting an estimate from Norco was horrifying and one of the worst. The person that came out Kent Jacobs was not only rude and overbearing but also arrogant. He did not seem to be knowledgeable and provided wrong information even though he was supposed to be the "expert". He quoted a price for a mini-split system with low-grade equipment that was huge. Then he intentionally neglected to tell me the heat pump on the system would reduce in efficiency at 17 degrees Fahrenheit and completely shut off when the outside temperature was 5 degrees Fahrenheit. I discovered that on my own. Too many really cold days in Spokane for that to be a reliable source of heat, especially considering the installation price. He also acted very arrogant when I would not buy the over-priced mini-split system or his solar powered system that would cost an additional $38,000 (no mistake in the decimal placing) . He just did not seem to understand that $38,000 is a lot of money. Perhaps, I was not in the correct economic-social class for him to consider a valued customer. The picture on his business card looks nothing like him or it was from 30 years ago. So I am not sure the person was actually Kent Jacobs. From my experience Norco at very best deserves a 1 star. I definitely would not recommend this company especially to single women. I am still looking for a reasonable company to install a heating system in just 2 rooms that has no ducts so that I can move on with my home destruction project. Perhaps there is no such thing in Spokane, WA. I have to remain hopefully to get my house fixed from prior contractors and to finish the original improvements. The costs to fix the contractor (licensed and bonded) caused damage has been and will continue to be very enormous. The time and costs associated with litigation is dreadful. Therefore, the name I am giving is Fed-Up With Dishonest Over Priced Contractors. My sense is that Norco is one of them by their rudeness and their overpricing. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We had Norco perform some service on our furnace and complete a quote to install a water heater. We informed them that the house was due to close on a VA loan and required the water heater to be strapped (also a Washington State code requirement). We received a quote and the water heater was installed 18 days ago. We received no information other than an invoice stating that the installation was complete. A few days later, the appraiser informed us that the water heater wasn't strapped and therefore the loan could not be completed. Upon calling Norco, they informed us they were unable to strap the house had concrete walls. I guess I figured since they had previously performed the quote and been to the house that installation would be in accordance with WA code requirements...After unreturned calls and promises to have a manager call us back, we were told it would be performed last week. Of course that didn't happen so it was "guaranteed" that the service would be complete today and someone would call us prior to 3pm. 3:30 and still no phone call...we call for an update that they inform us that a technician is on site and that we will receive pictures and a work order before close of business. That didn't happen, so now the real estate closing will be delayed a second time (assuming the buyers don't completely back out) because this company in unable to communicate with their customers, keep their word, and install a water heater to code. Best case scenario, I am out an extra month of mortgage, utility, and water payments due to this company's incompetence. That of course assumes that the service was completed today, which I have no way of currently knowing... Reading their about us on the website is completely laughable and arguably completely inaccurate. "Whether it's continuous quality training or carrying the latest equipment to meet all standards and regulation" About those standards and regulations... "we never stop working for you" Except on Fridays, seemingly 2 weeks at Christmas, before 9am, and after 5pm... "We take pride in the fact that we never stop giving 110% of ourselves for our neighbors' needs." If my experience is 110% (which is statistically impossible btw) then I would hate to know what 95% is. Good luck and be forewarned if you choose to do business with this company. I can assure you that we will not, our realtor can never again recommend them in confidence, and I have to assume that the seller's agent will tell clients to steer clear. read more

Our air conditioning went out at home. I called Norco from work the next morning seeking a service call. I was told they could have a technician out by noon - THAT DAY! I left work to meet up with the technician (John) at our home and sure enough, he was there by noon! I spoke with John briefly then went upstairs to make a sandwich. I was hoping for a quick resolution, and that's what I got. Didn't even have time to eat my lunch! He had found a defective relay, replaced it, and checked all the other components. The cool air was flowing again! As he was explaining what the problem was, he was also suggesting tips on filters, cleaning, etc. He was very professional but also very personable. I was dreading the next part of our conversation, the bill. However, I was pleasantly surprised, it was under $150.00. After John left, I emailed the company website thanking them for the impressive service. I would highly recommend Norco if you have problems with your central air unit. My furnace went out in freezing temps. They came out immediately, which was such a comfort! Very professional. the tech took his boots off before he walked through the door and was clean cut and polite. They were honest and ordered a part for me rather than trying to sell me a new furnace. They came back that afternoon with the part and fixed it at such a reasonable price. They even offered heaters until they came back! I would recommend them to everyone! read more
