If they don't have an item in the store, they can look for it in all of the other Nordstrom stores. If another store has it in stock they will ship it to you for free. Always good service in any department. Large selection of shoes for women and TERRIBLE selestion of shoes for men (unless you like tassels and conservative loafers that help you fit in to suburbia). The buyers must hate anyone under 50 and think that guys in Durham do not want to buy Prada or Gucci or find interesting shoes. The cafe on the upper floor is never too busy and the food is tasty and served promptly. The folks in cosmetics are very helpful and you can usually find exactly what you want. The coffee shop produces great coffee drinks and there are usually good things to be had in The Rail for guys. Ed Hardy = happy. read more

Frankly, I think my husband shops here more than I do -- he swears they've got the best denim selection for men in the Triangle. (He's only slightly metro, I swear!) The contemporary section is a little hit and miss. I've gotten some great pieces including a couple of my fave DvF dresses, but more often I'm ready to burn some money and leave empty handed. The shoe selection is pretty tops -- love that they carry Kate Spade. And the bags aren't bad either. The semi-annual sales get picked over quickly, but there's an occasional gem waiting to be grasped. Service is excellent, as is typical of Nordstrom. And I confess I love the gimmicky grand piano player they have on the holidays and weekends! read more

I LOVE Nordstrom. The customer service is always top notch and they are also very friendly. I love the huge selection that they offer and their return policy just can't be beat. I bought a kendra scott necklace that was 100$ and the first time I wore it the tassels started falling off of it. I brought it back and they credited the money back to me and apologized. I also get all of my expensive shoes from Nordstrom too, because of the same reason. They truly do value their customers and I will continue to shop here. Everyone here is always so accommodating and helpful while you shop. This is all part of the Nordstrom experience. Anything a customer needs there will be a staff member there to take care of it. The men's department is phenomenal here. They offer all the top brands and everything is so organized. You can find unique gifts or things for yourself. While shopping you can visit the eBar and grab some coffee or a light refreshment and then go back for more. Shoe section is GREAT! Plus, if yours look a bit dry or dull you can have them shined. read more

I'm only giving four-stars though because I've noticed that some of the sales women working upstairs in the BP, Savvy, and t.b.d. departments are not as nice and/or helpful as the could and should be. Nothing but great service at Nordstrom! I've been here plenty, but haven't felt compelled to write a review until my experience last night in the lingerie department. I went in pretty late (7:30pm) and was greeted by Stephanie. I told her I desperately needed new bras....(I'm divorcing Victoria's Secret - their bras are crap and their customer service is lacking....). She immediately asked if I'd been fitted recently - only at VS and seriously doubt their abiity to do this correctly, so off we went to get measured. Ladies, we all know this can be a daunting and embarrassing task...however Stephanie made this a very comfortable experience. She came into the dressing room with me and measured me properly then went to find me several options. Within 2 min she was back with about 30 bras...how did she do that?! She categorized them as to not overwhelm me and came back every couple of minutes to ask which one I had on, how did I like it and could she see it. She was able to help me narrow down my choices pretty quickly based on what fit and looked the best. Thankfully I did not have to try on all 30 ;). What I appreciated the most: Stephanie's enthusiasm for what she did. It was late, not far from closing and she seemed genuinely thrilled to be helping me out. She didn't just drop off a myriad of bras and leave me to it - she came back many times to check on me. Let's face it - how overwhelming can it be to look at rack after rack of bras?....it was so nice to stay in the dressing room and let her do the selecting. She brought me options from many different price points - not just the most expensive ones. She even brought items off the sale rack...gotta love that! They have very comfy robes/wraps in the dressing room to put on while you wait for your selections (an upsale ofcourse...and it worked - I bought that for sure!). I'm definitely heading back to Nordstrom the next time I need lingerie...no more VS!! read more

I went to this Nordstrom just to check out the beauty department and I was kind of disappointed. I was asked if I needed help at least five times, which was nice. I don't get too annoyed when SA's give good customer service. What let me down was how small the section is and how few brands they carry. Nordstrom is known for high end makeup and the store was lacking. I expected some Burberry, Charlotte Tilbury, and definitely Tom Ford. They just have the basics like Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, etc. You can find those in most department stores. read more

I'm surprised by the negative reviews here. We have never had anything but fabulous customer service at Nordstrom. No receipt? No problem. You bought it 2 years ago and are just getting around to returning it, no problem. This is almost the only place that my DH will shop for clothing. Definitely pricey, but worth it for the quality. When I go shopping for him they look up his sizes for me, can tell me what styles/brands he has bought in the past and are always extremely accommodating. I bought him some shirts for Christmas that had to be sent to us from another store and the salesman called to make sure that they had arrived. They send hand written thank you cards for shopping there, and they call to let us know about special sales and events. I do agree with Christina G that I rarely shop at Nordstroms for myself, but the fact that my DH can spend more than 30 minutes shopping for clothes is in itself miraculous! read more

The people at the MAC counter and the shoe department are really nice. I LOVE Nordstrom shoes because they carry a decent selection of large size shoes. Their clothes tend to not have much in the way of variety and prices aren't that good- even for high end and they don't carry brands like Marc Jacobs in this location. I went there tonight to buy some make-up for an upcoming wedding (not mine) and Michelle was amazing. (She normally works the Philisophy Counter.) She was able to show me exactly how to apply each product. I am more confident that my make-up will be perfect the day of the wedding. If I ever need make up again I willl be going back to see Michelle. I would also like to add that we had a conversation about my hair because I wasn't happy with my latest haircut and she siuggested a place and even called them for me. Pros: This is pretty much the best store ever- clean, friendly, and great items! The customer service is always good at Nordstrom. They have the best return policy so you can buy things and think about it before deciding to keep it or not. My favorite dept is the shoe section! And my favorite event is the anniversary sale where they have select items on super discount and you can earn double reward points. They always let Nordstrom cardholders get a preview of this event. Cons: May not have as much selection/high end selection as some bigger city Norstrom's. read more

I have never been a Nordstrom shopper until about a year ago. I went in to get my children shoes (since many department stores do not carry children's shoes). I was assisted by Jennifer, and she took the best care of myself as well as my kids. For over a year now I have been shopping there for everything. I understand it's a little more expensive but I'd rather pay more to enjoy the experience we get with her. She entertains my kids while I shop, and also hand picks items that she knows we will love. The level of service is exceptional. My husband ordered a pair of boots for me on line hoping to surprise me. It took three days for it to arrive. The only thing is, he ordered the wrong size. The Men's clothing department has proven to be inconsistent in regards to customer service. Multiple issues over the past 2 years that included unresponsiveness to emails requesting information, poorly tailored shirts, missing a shirt when they were picked up, (they never did find it). They are simply clerks not salespeople wishing to build a professional relationship with clients for repeat sales. I thought the first time or two it was just an anomaly but that is clearly not the case. I cancelled my Nordstrom's account. Never again read more

This Nordstrom is not one of the better ones. Definitely want to go to one in Northern VA or Atlanta. The people here are very friendly but they just don't have the stock. There men's departments are tiny and tacked on almost as an afterthought. The menswear employees always seemed harried. Not really their fault. In terms of styles for men they seem to have either washed-up surfer dude or F. Scott Fitzgerald. A few gems at the Rack outlet across the street but don't count on it. I wish Nordstrom would pull out of this location and build a more spacious, better supplied store nearby. read more

My 3 year old son and i spent over 2 and a half hours at the Nordstrom in Durham tonight trying to exchange a tie for a different size! The sales associate in a different State sold me an extra long tie! The WORST experience of my life....all because of an incompetent store manager- Stacy! We were trying to exchange a freaking tie and buy a few things for Father's Day- so we got dressed up and was looking forward to my son experiencing Father's Day and picking a few things for his dad! The Father's Day experience with my 3 year old turned into nightmare! Thank You Nordstrom!!!!!!! i didn't have receipt or a tag!!! The tie clearly says Nordstrom - dummy!!!!They couldn't find the receipt on their end because I now have a new credit card number! The incompetent store manager- Stacy - offers me freaking $19.99 for the tie that I spent over a $150- I might as well go to WalMart next time- why do u think people spend their hard earned money at your store!!!! what do you sale for $19.99 anyway......What a poor choice for a store manager! So I called my credit card company and are trying to find a receipt!!!! All I needed was a different size....I didn't realize ties came in different sizes! This incompetent store manager gave us the run around for almost 3 hours.....we actually had to run to the food court to grab some food! I told my husband that if he ever buys anything from Nordstrom, I better not know about it! Ashame on you Nordstrom for not standing by your policies and giving us the run around tonight! I have been a long time Nordstrom customer, I have shopped many of their stores and have loved them all until now. This Nordstrom is awful! I tried to return a bracelet I bought and was treated like I was doing something offensive. I asked to speak to the department manager only to find out I was talking to her. She acted like I was doing something wrong. I rarely return anything, the bracelet pinched when I wore it. She was upset that it had been worn. I was so offended that I left with the bracelet. I'd rather just keep it than be further offended. This is not the first time I have been disappointed in this particular Nordstrom. Other than the cosmetic department the customer service is not even close to what I have found else where. I will never shop this Nordstrom again.......so sad. read more

I had ordered a burberry watch from this store. They did not have the watch in stock so i specifically pointed them out the color and other watch details so they can ship me . It was my wedding watch and i was extra careful to get the best one that I liked . I received the watch a week later and it was totally the wrong watch, wrong color. when i called up sales rep/ customer support they said that the watch i wanted is out of stock now . I cannot imagine someone messing up a 600$ + watch ... This was my and my family's last ever stint with nordstrom. I can never buy from here. read more

The best thing about Nordys, that some people don't know, is you don't necessarily need your receipt to make a refund, as long as the price tag is still on the clothes, they can pull up your receipt in their computers, if you legitemately bought the clothes there. Also, if you are a big fan of Nordys you know that Nordstrom price matches. If you find the same item at a lower price at another store, they will match that price. Just ask any sales associate and they will tell you this is true. I would rather have better service at Nordys for the same price as Hechts or Macys. Also, if they don't have what you like in any particular store, yes, sometimes the buyers in a particular region are a bit off the mark, you can have the sales associate search other stores for you or you can shop Nordstrom.com with the salesperson, and they will bring in the item for you. Basically....they can use any other stores inventory or their website as a warehouse for their customers to look thru. It would be great if every Nordstrom could carry every item, I doubt that it is realistic though. I recently saw a $300 handbag in a particular shade I desperately wanted, and there was one more to be had, at a Nordstrom in Philadelphia. One quick salesperson scan of the computer and phone call and it was at my house within days. I love it. I also used their phone in order service, where you call them or choose an item online and then they go and shop it for you, (I used it for a cosmetic I already knew I wanted) so you can show up, go to customer service and just pay for it. No running thru the store. Especially handy at Christmas time. read more

This review is for the MAC counter inside Nordstrom. I have never had one bad thing to say about Nordstrom in the 20+ years I have been shopping there. I am also an avid MAC shopper, and although the line is sold in other stores, I most always get it from Nordstrom. On several occasions I have had the artists at the MAC counter do my make-up for an event. November 3 of this year was my wedding day and I decided I would have a MAC artist do my make-up since they have always done an amazing job. This was my first time at this particular Nordstrom, I should have known better but I did not do a trial run, I have never had a bad experience so I didn't think I had to. To my disappointment my make-up for my wedding day was not near what I wanted it to be. I wanted to look classic and beautiful, instead I looked like I had hardly anything on, and not in the good way. The artist didn't even put foundation on and even left my nose (which tends to get red) completely void of any make-up until I asked for some. My eyes looked okay but that's about all I can say. If I had the time I would have completely taken it off and redone it myself but I didn't have that option. The entire time I was trying to enjoy my wedding I was worried about how I looked, asking guests if they had any powder to help. In several photos you could tell there was barely any make-up which led me to hate the pictures taken by family and friends. I was so upset. I really hope our amazing photographers can do some magical editing so I can love my wedding pictures. If not, I'm not sure what I will do. I guess you could say lesson learned, the only crappy part is I don't get a re-do. read more

My sister and I went to Nordstrom to purchase some business clothes for her new job today and we had a horrible experience. We both look very young so a handful of the people working there apparently assumed that we didn't know what we wanted and that we did not have any money to spend, so they disregarded us and were very disrespectful. The woman that was "helping us" was very rude and condescending the entire time. At one point my sister asked if they had any trench coats and the woman said that they didn't have any, so we asked where all of the coats were. She pointed us in the direction of them and we went over on our own. When we got to the coat section we noticed that there were multiple trench coats. My sister asked me how much one that I was looking at was and as I was reading the price out to her as the sales woman walked into the section. She then said that she hadn't told us they had any because of the prices. Then on top of that another employee was acting very strange and suspicious when my sister asked to try on a pair of heels in one of their more expensive brands that they keep in the back. After acting very strange and suspicious upon the initial request she begrudgingly went to go look for them, took a long time looking in the back before coming back and telling us they didn't have any in her size. Overall the experience was horrible and so were the employees, they clearly discriminate against their customers based on their appearance and don't cater to those who they do not think they'll make a large amount of commission off of. We ended up not buying a coat or shoes from there because they were so disrespectful and rude. read more

Ever hear the expression " curiosity killed the cat" ? Well that certainly applied to myself thats for sure. I've walked past this place many times figuring it just sold make-up & purses. Then again that could be said a lot on my view of the stores in shopping malls. ( much to my surprise ) I so was wrong, I finally asked my folk's " so whats this place? " soon as I walked in and easily found the men's department I suddenly felt the urge to sing " I think I love you , but what am I so afraid of ". Because the the for the first time that day I finally met a store clerk who not only understood what style I wanted but also what went well together. almost a down payment on a car later I was in love with this place and very much addicted to not only the quality of clothing, the feel of it, & also the service that was provided. for me it was Absolutely outstanding. Only thing that would be better is if they had a " designated driver shopping service " hehe. read more

I have been very disappointed my last few trips to the second floor of Nordstrom's at Southpointe. This "makeover," or whatever it is, makes one think they are at a poor quality department store. It is most unattractive. I also think that the buyers for the Encore department are not in touch with their customers. Selection is very medioicre (and not inexpensive). I realize this market is not going to get the type of Nordstrom's at Oakbrook (IL) or the Mall of America (MN), but certainly we deserve a better store, at least on the second floor. I absolutely love Nordstrom; their customer service definitely sets the industry standard. Yesterday I went in to return a pair of Sam Edelman pumps that I had previously ordered in store but ultimately received the wrong style. (I was trying to order Hazel but ended up ordering something else even though I was assisted by a SA). I also had another pair of Edelman's shoes to exchange for a darker nude because the one I originally purchased was too light. The sales associate that was handling my transaction Loup, provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced from said establishment. I routinely shop there and I've never seen her before so I can only assume that she is new, BUT that does not excuse the rudeness she showed me. In fact her exact words were "so you don't want either of them, was there even anything wrong with them?" Her attitude was much too high to be working in Nordstrom! It was at that moment that I wished for my usual sales associate Monica who is a godsend! More SAs should be trained like her and Rick! As soon as I walk into shoes they are quick to ask me what I need and in the event that they are out of stock in my size (11), they are more than quick to offer to order it for me! read more
