Menlo Park Nordstrom had been my to go luxury store for all my buys until The store in NYC is in the making. Not until yesterday where my 12 year old daughter left the store in tears and vowing never ever to buy from this chain. Wow Nordstrom thanks to one of your well trained employees you lost a young customer for life. An employee named Ed in the makeup counters started shouting at her in front of the whole store and embarrassed her in front of other clients. My daughter was waiting for an employee on her break to try some samples and Ed started screaming at her. She was scared and in a shock at this racial discrimination. No store refuses samples or treats customers like they cannot afford to buy but thanks to Ed we were treated so. I have been a loyal Nordstrom patron for years now but seeing this racist behavior I will think twice before hitting the Buy button. Maybe they are too big to care about my business but Menlo park is a cosmopolitan community and no one should be discriminated for sure. Horrible nightmare read more

Lola helped me yesterday find women's clothes, cufflinks, a clutch and a gift for a 3 men and 4 woman all in under 30 minutes and everything was perfect. I am pregnant and shopping for my wedding and gifts for the bridal party, minister and parents. I was in the mall for three hours and so overwhelmed, and she was so helpful! she was so honest and funny and personable. She made me feel like the only customer in the store. Very attentive and the whole time saying hello to every other employee by name, super friendly... and she was there from open to close and didn't act tired or overworked at all! EVERY store should have someone as presentable and kind as Lola, great customer service is rare now a days but she made my night so easy. read more

Had to go to a political march so I ran to Nordstrom to get some comfortable shoes. Once again, the best customer service! An amazing selection! Gracious space to try on. Parked outside of the door, not in the garage and I was in out no problem. Lots of rallies to attend, lots of shoes to buy. I will be back! read more

I've been coming to this nordstrom for a very long time, since i am a local. I have always been iffy about going to the beauty department every since a bad experience i had in 2016.. I usually go the Macy's in the mall for my cosmetic stuff. I decided to give it a shot again since i was walking by and saw the MAC counter had some new collections that caught my eye. A very nice girl welcomed me, her name was Jennifer, Very Charming! She recommended some items that i would have never thought to try out, and was very patient through the entire experience since i wanted to pick up other stuff but didn't really know what i wanted. She held my items, sat me down and showed me makeup tips. I came at the perfect time because everything was 15% off!! It was for sure, a more relaxed shopping experience than Macy's. I didn't feel rushed. I love how even though I'm getting helped by one person, the other workers will give their helpful input and they all smiled at me. It really made me feel welcomed and valued. My experience was enough to have me come back again. The entire crew was excellent. Oh and whatever they did not have in stock Jennifer, recommended to order it or offer me something similar. Yikes, Nordstrom! Considering your very high customer service standards at every other location, you might want to do some serious evaluation and retraining at the Menlo Park mall. To make a return, you can't just go to customer service like you would in any other Nordstrom--you have to walk to each department and return items one at a time. And I got no smiles, how are you, or apologies for the inconvenience when a simple return took 30 minutes. Argh. Another time, the shoe salespeople wouldn't let me browse, and kept interrupting with hard sales pitches. I am a longtime Nordstrom-lover. I ordered my bridesmaid dresses at Nordstrom. I have been to a billion other stores, and in each one the customer service was excellent. It's really too bad it's so unpleasant to go to the one nearest my house! God, I love this store. Sure, it's expensive, but the customer service is top notch and shopping here is always a pleasure. Staff is helpful without being overwhelming, fitting rooms are tidy, and restrooms are well-stocked and clean. I spent a lot of time at this mall when my son was a newborn (it was winter and I had no where else to wander aimlessly!) and I used the "Mother's Room" in Nordstrom frequently. I can't tell you how much I appreciated having a quiet and clean place to nurse and change my son. It made me a lifelong fan of the store. Worst service at the Mac counter Ever!! Had an appointment to get my makeup done for one of my pre wedding events....not only did the girl not show, up but nobody helped me and they all ignored me as if I was not standing in front of them with an appointment. All a bunch of rude very stupid women who don't know how to speak to people. Some girl named Janine never showed up or had the courtesy to call. NEVER Go here! Luckily I was able to get seen at Macy's who were able to see me without an appointment, and were apologetic on behalf of Mac for the horrible lack of service and rudeness that I received at Nordstrom. This Mac counter in Nordstrom is bringing down the Mac name and quality of service. If it was not for the wonderful staff at the Mac counter at Macy's, I would be done with Mac. read more

This is a late post review but I notice that they are still doing it. Bought Burberry Canterbury bag full price a few months ago. Salesperson won't even offer to give me a new stock until I asked. She was going to give me the floor sample. She goes in the back and gets me a "new" stock. I asked for a box and she says they don't come in one. I knew that but just give me a regular Nordstrom box. I go home and check the bag out and noticed that the glazing peeling and the thread were loose. Went back the next day to exchange it. They said no other stock but the floor sample. I replaced it in a different color. I inspected the glazing and thread and they were good. I get home again and as I was removing the paper inserts I noticed that the inner zipper was broken. I am totally disappointed and went back for a full refund. Not paying full price of $895 for a bag that is broken. They don't even care to tell you that it's old stock or damaged. read more

I've been shopping here since 2011. I've been visiting this location on and off from 2011 to 2016. This review isn't even about whether or not the jacket could be returned. It's about the way I was treated upon having a dilemma with the jacket. I had purchased a jacket from Nordstrom, but I didn't know what to do about the wool from the jacket construction pilling. So I came and spoken to another woman who worked there. It was the way she treated me that was just rude. I understand that Nordstrom doesn't have an explicitly stated return policy. I understand that a typical Nordstrom employee says a jacket two years old cannot be returned, despite the woolen jacket pilling. The woman tried to make me feel bad about this problem I was clearly having with the jacket. Instead, she took me upstairs to speak with another employee who worked at outerwear department, and that employee didn't treat me with respect either and stated: "You were the one who returned an old coat." I asked her if she knew of a cleaner who could take care of cleaning and ridding of the pills from the wool. She didn't know of any cleaner in the area. She recommended I use this product called the sweater stone. I was treated with disrespect over a problem with the jacket pilling. It didn't even matter whether it was returnable. I understand it can't be returned because it's two years old. I know there are remedies to the solution. But it was the way I was treated is inexcusable. The lady downstairs could have just suggested some products that could remove the pilling instead of getting mad at me and attempting to humiliate me. Because of her, I never want to shop at this location ever again. I don't even feel comfortable walking into the store ever again. What, to be in an environment where an employee is condescending to a customer? So not worth it. I'll drive farther in order to stay away from this location. read more

Nordstrom's the best store to shop at in Menlo Park Mall. They have the best selection with the best price range. The women's clothing on the 2nd floor has the best customer service and the women's shoes on the ground floor has the worst service. The alterations department needs help figuring out what services they offer and which ones they don't. I would recommend going to a different tailor or a dry cleaners that offers a alterations services. I was very disappointed with the service because they wasted my time. read more

Also loved various personal shoppers we had. However, my last visit recently to return shoes at the women's shoes department was less than pleasant. I drove 40 minutes to get here for their "expert bra fitting". When I asked for help, 2 consultants started fighting over me. "I said I had her first." "Excuse me, no, I did..." I guess their commission is worth fighting over? Or they were both just that bored? Or my rack is just that impressive? While they argued, I walked away (they were still arguing as I walked away!) and found a manager, who offered to help me herself. I am so upset! I came home just now to "open" my newly purchased Dior totale capture creme. Just to find out it isn't new! The moment I opened the box I saw something wrong , there were finger prints all over the container top (mirror material) then when I took it out of the box, the instruction was folded sloppily , and when I pressed the container open, there was a sloppy mess on the top of the container all over. I was shopping in Nordstrom's today and I wanted to buy some jewelry. I walked all around the two jewelry cases and the two sales clerks completely ignored me and continued having a long conversation with each other. I was disappointed they didn't even extend a smile, nothing. I don't have expensive clothes, or big diamond ring. I guess I wasn't worth the effort. People like you should not be in customer service. I love Nordstrom, have been a shopper for many years. Edward at the MAC counter is an angel and in my opinion deserves more recognition then he gets. Right before christmas he was running multiple counters because these old crab asses said it was time for them to leave and could not assist him even when he asked nicely. He was answering phones, helped me find the perfect gift, wrapped it for me and was never impatient when I had a difficult time making up my mind. Also, bravo to the girl in the women's shoes department wish I knew her name :( for helping me find the perfect pair of heels on Christmas Eve that we're not on display. I had come in to return a pair of sunglasses that I had purchased there last year. Although the style was lovely, after minimal wear the sheen on the center lens had begun coming off. I was disappointed as other glasses I have purchased at similar price points have held up for years. As a loyal Nordstrom shopper, I know the store holds the gold standard when it comes to customer satisfaction. Hoping I had just gotten a faulty pair I wanted to exchange them. However, they no longer carry the brand. When I requested a return I was told a manager would need to come and assess my case. Unfortunately, I was treated with absolute disrespect by Christy the manager. Upon her arrival at the counter she assessed the sunglasses and said they were unsuitable for return due to the fading on the center of the lens. I tried to explain that that was the reason I wanted to return them. Being unsatisfied with the quality of merchandise is a reasonable request for return as listed on their website. When I produced a receipt, I was told that I needed to also show her the tag they came with so she could resell them in the future, either on the rack to back to the vender. No where on their website or store policy does it say that the tag needs to be presented to do a return. In fact, I have seen plenty of items in that Nordstrom store with printed tags due to the fact they were returned without the original one. When I asked why she would resell these glasses when she said they weren't even suitable for a return she became extremely defensive and condescending. I left the store extremely unsatisfied. The return policy states: "We handle returns on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate objective of satisfying the customer. We stand behind our goods and services and want customers to be satisfied with them. We'll always do our best to take care of customers--our philosophy is to deal with them fairly and reasonably; we hope they will be fair and reasonable with us as well." "Standing behind what we sell is a big part of that. We think many customers choose to shop with us because they know if their purchase isn't right, we'll work to fix it." I was not treated fairly or reasonably. I cannot believe their manager had the audacity to argue with a customer that provided a receipt for an obviously faulty and unsatisfactory purchase. My purchase was not right and no one worked to fix it for me that evening. read more

I stopped off at the Nordstrom in Menlo Park Mall recently as I was heading to Long Island. I've been to several Nordstrom department stores across the country but had not experienced this particular one. The experience was definitely great! Top notch customer service, the store was clean and my wait time at the register was minimal. I actually stopped here to get my makeup done at the Chanel makeup counter. The ladies were both very informative and just an overall pleasure to be around. I will always return to Nordstrom. They are definitely one of the best department stores around. read more

im leaving my review for the MAC counter in this Nordstrom location specifically... I walked in there at 5pm on a Tuesday for my scheduled appointment to get my make-up done. it was only one girl working who mentioned she was fairly new to the counter and that she didn't even know she had an appointment that day.. never even gave her name.. I sat in the chair ready to get things started, normally when I get make up done the girls have in mind what they are going to do and quickly get their tools/makeup , I don't know if the girl was nervous or what but she kept going back and forth like she didn't know where anything was or what she wanted to do... time passed as im getting the make up applied and another employee, Ed would stop by and give her little tips on how to apply the makeup.. this made me scared because I never had a make up experience where they needed help doing their job.. long story short I did not like my make up she did black liner way to dark on the bottom lid and she COULD NOT EVEN DO A CORRECT WING TIP , ive seen girls on instagram (non mac girls) do better I did not like my make up .. not understanding why they would let a rookie do set appointments and why she was there by herself .. I told her I had a dinner reservation for 730, I got there at 5:00 and did not leave until 630 !!! never took that long ,, oh and she told e the glue on my lashes was still white because it needed time to dry but that never changed !!! i'll be going back to mac in macy's or Sephora next time read more
