Bad customer service!! I came to this store looking to find a nice pair of Birkenstocks. I went to the shoe department and I looked around to see if there was someone that can help me find my size. I didn't see not one employee in the shoe department, so I went up to the cashier and ask her if someone can help me in the shoe department and she looked at me and told me that she couldn't t do anything because she was helping a customer. I was left standing there so I left and decided not to buy anything. The customer service experience I got was horrible and the vibe of the employees aren't welcoming. I am in utter shock. I have been a Nordstrom elite member for years now and never have I experienced the "service" I received- from a manager at that. My main complaint is about a "Manager" by the name of Yolanda. First, she was extremely rude about showing me a watch in the watchcase. Then she tried to sign me up for a NR Debit Card. When I told her I already had a credit card she kept pushing. I decided to go ahead and give her my account and routing number to sign up when i realized she was writing my information on another scratch piece of paper. That's completely unethical!! I snatched back my information and left immediately to find out SHE is a manager. This location is going down quickly, I don't see them lasting another year with the rude unethical customer service and lack of updated merchandise; this isn't real Nordstrom Rack. They have some of the coolest clothes and compared to Nordstrom yu can't complain about Racks prices, plus their clearance is great. The store is always clean and staff is helpful and friendly. If you can't find anything step outside to find so much more shopping. read more

The Rack finally came to Bako! Compared to the other Nordstrom Racks that I've shopped in Bay Area, LA area, and Houston, this one is sufficient for our suburban market. The store is very clean (it could be because it's new) and the selection is moderate. The employees that I've encountered have been friendly. Some of them know more about their products than others. My only gripes are some areas lack signage or some items were mislabeled. During one visit, an item rang up to 24.97 even though the tag was marked 19.97. Are you ready for a new shopping experience in Bakersfield?! Look no further than Nordstrom Rack at The Shops at the Riverwalk. We had a girl's night last night and braved the crowds to get our shop on. In the email invite we were informed this would be a shopping party complete with food and drinks. And upon walking in there were numerous waiters with appetizers, beers, champagne, and boxes of cookies! Whoa, impressed from the start! Plus, shopping while drinking may be a dream of mine. By the way, as just a side note I am thankful for the shopping party invite and the appreciation of Nordstrom cardholders and those that have ordered from them before. I think they get the picture that many of us have been supporting them in other cities for a long time! I enjoyed the recognition and appreciation. The shop is decent size and we were able to peruse the store for about 2 hours. Everything was fantastic. It was well stocked and all sizes were out! If you've never been to a Nordstrom Rack it's like a high-end TJ Maxx with big brands and big service. They also have everything from home goods, fashion, luggage, shoes, lingerie and everything in between. Anyone can go and find something they love! I loved the shoe area and the section of salon shoes with brands like Cole Haan, Tory Burch, and Kate Spade. The workout wear is also something that's not to be missed! I also found where some great denim was stocked and looked at Joe's Jeans and Hudsons! And although it's not a Nordstrom Department store the service was great! When my hands were full an associate appeared and asked if I needed a shopping bag. And the way they ring you up is fantastic! If you pay with a credit or debit card they can pretty much "cash" you out anywhere in the store by using a mobile device to swipe your card and sign. Next the receipt can be printed or emailed to you. What I also appreciated was the little conversations I had with those that helped me. One associate asked, "which Nordstrom do you usually shop at?" This brought back memories of many shopping trips to Santa Barbara! As I complained about how much I was carrying another associate said, "it's ok, there are so many great deals here!" I LOVE this store!! This was my first in store experience with the Rack (been an online shopper for a while), and I was NOT disappointed! I was a little put off by some of the prices at first, then I truly got the meaning of the sign on the window "Happy Treasure Hunting!". You gotta look around. truly LOOK at everything you can. The clearance racks have been a treasure trove of awesome deals these last few months. $128 Free People dresses for $6.47! Calvin Klein lingerie for $2! Even scored some Betsey Johnson panties for 1¢ each! Seriously! Who doesn't have a penny?? lol Spend some time and look around, I guarantee you will be surprised AND delighted. Oh and I wear a women's 11 in shoes (thanks for the giant feet genetics parentals! yeeesh) which in 99% of stores means there's either NOTHING in that size, or it a couple pairs of ugly granny shoes. NOT HERE! There's row after row after row of gorgeous designer shoes in my size! Up to a size 13 actually! They've for a lifetime customer outta me based just on that! Also this location has extremely friendly and helpful staff! I honestly expected snooty attitudes in here given the customer base and high end merchandise (I've got turquoise hair, facial piercings and lots of visible tattoos). Not so! Eye contact (you'd be surprised how often it's lacking in some stores) and engaging conversation. Never once did I feel like they had Loss Prevention tail me around the store because I "looked" suspicious or was treated rudely because they looked down on me. Very important to me! I like this place. It's a good size, good location. The staff is pretty much nonexistent in this store except at the cash wrap. I think it is an excellent place to visit if you're looking for accessories; jewelry, handbags, watches, ties, cuff links, or shoes. The actual clothing selection is pretty sparse as far as good finds go, except for maybe if you are looking for dressy clothes. I really just come here for the shoe department. 1st week of opening.. This place is hoppin'! My 5-yr. old asked,"Is this TJ Maxx?" So, it looks like one, but its higher end. Everything is wonderfully organized and clean! The selection is great, from shoes to shoes to shoes. Did I say shoes? Home goods looks limited. I didn't make it to the other half of the store. The kids & ladies selection were good. This is a yelp about the Nordstrom corporate policy not to reissue Nordstrom notes that have expired just prior to a purchase. I was preparing to purchase something with my Nordstrom Note and just before I concluded the transaction the note expired. I love Nordstrom and their awesome customer service but this policy is, in my opinion, not inline with the quality of their customer service standards. I will continue to shop there so this is more of a warning to other customers to use your Nordstrom Notes ASAP or have them put onto gifts cards so they don't expire. read more

This store has always been good to shop in but they have changed the format. It is now all racks like goodwill. Nothing wrong with Goodwill but Nordstrom don't have goodwill prices for this non exhilarating setup , not a very appealing look . Do better Nordstrom! read more

I've been here twice, and both times have been pleasant. If you're paying by card, you just approach a team member, and they ring you up with their iPhones; you don't have to wait at the check-out line (which can get long because of people returning items). I've gone only on Saturdays, and it's not very busy before noon. Afternoon, however, it gets pretty busy, so I would suggest getting here earlier than later. Still, the employees were friendly, and there are enough of them to address your needs. I docked one star off because the place is difficult to navigate. Women's clothes were all over, with no real distinction between work, dresses, active wear, etc., except when you saw a lot of the same type of clothes in one area. read more

Me and my wife checked out the store on opening day. It was busy as expected. My wife found shoes and clothing she likes easily but when it comes to the men section, the selection is not huge. I was not impressed with the way it was set up. Not great if shopping for men's clothing. The service was great. The parking is sufficient. read more

I was so excited this was coming to Bakersfield. I am from la and work there part of the time. The Nordstrom racks in la have much more and better selection. I went to this location twice and walked out with nothing. I don't know but the stuff just isn't as good here. I think I'll keep my rack trips for la. I will forever avoid Norstrom Rack. Their return policy is ridiculous. They say you have 45 days to return an item, but it has to be un-worn. So are customers supposed to just stare at the item for 45 days & not actually wear it. Terrible policy & bad customer service read more

Confession... I went for the shoes!! Nordstroms is well known for great shoes. Being blessed with very large feet they have always been my go to store. I was wowed. In my size (11) they had SO many!
