My daughter and I had dinner here today. The setting is casual but nice and clean. Family friendly as I saw lots of families with kids there. The service was good. Unfortunately, the food is very mediocre at best, on par with entry level sushi places half the price. If it were just the food, I would lean towards rounding down to 2 stars but rounded up as setting and service are good. Nothing really stood out but most disappointing was the Toro. $13 for 2 Nigiri should get you decent chutoro but what was served was tiny and would not qualify as Toro in most medium level+ sushi places (look at the picture for the quality and lack of skill on the knife cuts). Food portion in general is small which would be okay if the quality were good, but you get small portions and so-so quality. A very bad combination... Needless to say, we will not be going back. read more

Casual sushi spot. The quality of the sushi is comparable to an AYCE spot. The lunch special is a good deal but on the regular menu it was a bit averaged priced for mid sushi. I think if this place turned into an AYCE spot it might be better but for the prices right now it's not worth it. Wow this place is awful. The hostess almost fell out her shirt and opened creepy velvet curtains to lead us through the LOUD kitschy uncomfortable wannabe hip bar but more like shit bar with caged liquor only a quarter of the way. The rest of the room suffers for it though because this place insists on being a bar therefore tables are limited. So authentic that the spicy ponzu tastes like tabasco! Why is foie gras on custard swimming in fat and msg? Worst cocktail I've ever tasted, had to send it back. Even with the drink removed, spent more than $100 and went home hungry. I've been going here for almost 15 years. I first went to Nori when iit was located on Westheimer. I got excited when it moved to city center and even more excited when they remodeled. Love the new look, and ambiance. Casual, relaxed, quiet corner, great location in City Center. Lots to do it shopping center. Rolls are smaller, perfect portions so you can order lots. Rice is warm and fish is fresh. Loved everything. Owner is really sweet and usually hanging casually around. read more

I expected a better quality of food once they moved to the new location but everything is just okay. The fried rice is pretty flavorless and the salmon sushi falls apart. The rolls are good. Our kiddo is a fan of this place but there are much better sushi restaurants for the price in the area. The hosts are always friendly. read more

Quick service, plentiful dishes, and an extensive menu! The service is nice and timely. Not the largest space, but I don't mind--gives it a nice vibe of being a family-owned place. Want to share this as I am sure there are many other 5+ families in the area...Friday night my family and I went to Nori, where we typically go at least 2x. a month since they opened the new location. We were told they could not seat us and had to wait about 25 min despite the several empty tables you can see in the pic below...there was also a family of 3 waiting to be seated despite the several empty tables, they had a young child too. Back to us, they said they could not put a high chair to block the pathway so I asked for a table on the left side that has a booth and 2 chairs with the idea of putting the high chair in one of the spots of the chairs and me and my 2 children sitting on the booth. I was told I could not do that because sitting more than 2 on the booth is a fire hazard!!! Using that logic there are only 2 round tables in the whole restaurant to accommodate families of 5 or more. The manager, Tom, told me that I needed to make a reservation when we wanted to go. We have been there probably 50 times just this year and never made a reservation, to begin with they are not even on OpenTable. Anyhow, it seems clear to me they do not care for the business of families. It saddens me because this has a been a go to for our family for a while now but I do feel the attitude and the unwillingness of the manager and hostess to accommodate us despite being long-time customers was beyond terrible. I did tell the manager that I would make sure to let other families on the Memorial area know and he did not seem to care. I hope that restaurants looking for business in the Memorial area are aware of the large family makeup of our area. read more

I recently visited the new location of this restaurant during lunch, and while I had an overall good experience, there were a few things worth mentioning. First, finding parking was a bit of a challenge, but that's a small inconvenience compared to what followed. The lunch menu, priced between $20-$22 for a sushi, sashimi, or roll combo, was a great deal. The food itself was very fresh and delicious, which I really appreciated. However, since the move to the new location, I've noticed the portion sizes have gotten smaller. The miso soup was mostly just broth not flavored well at all with only 1-2 cubes of tofu and no seaweed, which was a bit disappointing. Service was good, we were checked on frequently. I love how bright the new location is very vibrant compared to the dark dungeon feel of the old one. read more

I have to say I love this place for a number of reasons one of which it's very close to my house. Two it's very economical. Three think the portions are fair and the food is very good quality. The reason I give it five stars is because I feel the whole experience is very Enjoyable From the Shaggy to the volcano, I've had almost everything and I really do enjoy it . Nice atmosphere, very polite staff, ordered the salmon lunch special. Very good value. I requested that my salmon not be overcooked. A special included three sand slices of grilled salmon. The salmon was overcooked and dry. Other than that, it was a nice experience. I will try it again, but insist that the salmon be cooked properly. If not, I will return it next time. read more

Let me start by saying that I am about as picky as it gets when it comes to sushi. Nori continually exceeds my expectations. The tempuras are perfectly crispy. The chopped octopus rolls were the best I've ever had. The selection of Americanized rolls is very vast and the menu of real sushi and nigiri is as on point as any other sushi bar in town. This will be my new sushi spot in west Houston. read more

We ordered pickup last night. I asked for 2 Texan hand rolls and to use seaweed instead of soy paper. She repeated the whole order back to me and it was correct, she included the sub. When I got home and opened everything, the hand rolls were made with soy paper instead of seaweed. We called the restaurant and spoke to Nick. He said that since they were about to close, they couldn't re-make them or refund me. He said I could just throw them away. I asked him several times if that was really his only response - he said they could give me a free seaweed salad. 2 hand rolls are about $20, a seaweed salad is less than $5. And I don't even like seaweed salad. I'm a regular and come in 2-3 times every month. They always make the rolls with seaweed when I ask. I felt it was fair to offer me a refund or to make them correctly at no cost the next time I come by, since it will be soon enough. Nick refused. Hands down, food was honestly good and fulfilling, but as a guest, bad morals were shown to employees by managers. As a guest, I witnessed a manager pull aside an employee within the guest's perspective and proceed to scream at them while intentions were disregarded when the employee was trying her best to help another employee. The blunt unprofessionalism shows the kind of ambient this place holds and how they attempt to hold a perfect picture while hiding what's behind the scenes. read more

First off - online it says they close at 10 but then we arrived the door had a sign they closed at 9... ok, it was 8:20 so we decided to eat quick and be respectful of their time since they close soon (obviously not the servers' fault the hours advertised online were incorrect) We sat down and immediately felt rushed. The server came right away and asked if we were ready to order but we weren't since it was our first time coming. Once she brought our drinks she asked if we were ready again- we were still looking but regardless we ordered anyway. I'll mention the food was at the table within 10 minutes of us being seated. The food was fresh and good but the portions were very very small for the price. Like, a piece from a shaggy dog roll was around the diameter of a quarter, small. But tasty! Also, they forgot to add eel sauce to another one of our rolls (it was listed on the menu that it came with it). Therefore, I asked for a side of it and said "for this roll" (and pointed at the roll missing it) - and they still charged us for it *eyeroll*. Since they were trying to close i didn't want to waste my time arguing a fifty cent charge but it was still annoying. In conclusion, the food was good but due to service and food portions we don't plan to return. read more
