I went to go buy portable heaters from Lowe's which brought a little comfort. I saw this company "Optimum Air" a few times on my search and there were quite a few reviews. I'm normally drawn by the comments and reviews and I decided to give them a try. I called made an appointment and everything was professional. I even received a text confirming my appointment that day and later that day I received another text showing, "Michael from Optimum Air Co. its on the way." And it came with a link to track their arrival along with a photo of the person. This was really professional and loved the promptness. The tracker showed that his ETA is 2:03, which is right on time, and he came, right on time. I must say, Mike is very friendly, professional, and answered all my questions. The issue I was having was no power to the unit, and before then, the fan didn't turn off at all. He fixed both. He wired something, and showed before of the issue and showed me actually what he was doing. I was so pleased by the professionalism, that I requested a quote to replace my entire furnace and a/c, because I knew that eventually it will need to be replaced. I highly recommend them and I definitely trust their service. They weren't trying to be pushy and sell me anything or sell me a new unit. A young, not very experienced "technician" performed a $9 annual A/C tune-up (Home Depot Christmas…read morespecial). Since it was cold in January, the refrigerant "fail" could have been caused by a malfunctioning part and NOT a LEAK. I was quoted a RIDICULOUSLY HIGH $1,200 for a Dye Leak search (plus $380 for a refrigerant recharge and balance). [To exacerbate what I believe is dishonest business practices, they quoted me $626 for a Surge Protector (Condenser Only) and $1,170 for the Condenser and Air Handler!! The problem is I have a WHOLE HOUSE surge protector that I paid about $100 and had a handyman install in less than 15 minutes!! The surge protector is visible when looking at my outside electric meter...hooked up on the bottom of the electric panel.] When Florida Breeze came out in Feb., they indicated because it was too cold, any testing on my Variable Speed Heat Pump unit could be tricked/influenced by the weather and provide a misdiagnosis. When Florida Breeze tested on April 2nd, they determined there was a defective part that was preventing the refrigerant from flowing through the unit. They ordered the part. (They also said it would be less than $500 for a dye leak search and refrigerant.)
