    Pulled beef rib Eggs Benedict
    Jennie M.

I went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised that the famed eggs Benedict that I have heard so much about in the last few months is available to order all day! Hooray! Because seriously, a Bennie that is perfectly poach, with just the right slathering of Hollandaise is something that you can eat all day long; especially when it is on the most rich, succulent, pulled beef short ribs. Yes, you read correctly: Pulled beef short ribs eggs Benedict. Oh, and it was absolutely delicious! My lunch companion was just as delighted as I was that she could order a lunch Bennie and went with the Wild Boar bacon Benedict. As each order comes with two we decided to switch one for one so that we could each try a full Bennie of each flavour. Both delicious, I would return for either in a heart beat! The Bennie's were accompanied by the most delicious fried potatoes. Neither of us could quite decipher them, they were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, almost like a gourmet tater tot. I don't know quite how else to describe it. As if that wasn't enough, there was also quite a lovely fruit bowl with pineapple, blackberries and dollops of vanilla yogurt. Quite nice. They have a fresh squeezed orange juice machine that is out in the open so that when you order a juice you can see them make it right in front of you. Love it! Now, on to why only 3 stars. It was the atmosphere and ambiance. Maybe it was because at 11:50 when I walked in I was the only person there. It was uncomfortable (and I'm not the kind of person to feel uncomfortable easily). Perhaps if there was music playing, something to give the large concrete space some life! I will say this: Go for the Bennie's, if you are a fan, you will love it! The food is quite good. And lets hope they work on the environment in the mean time.

So I was here for Downtown Dining Week. This was one of 6 places that I visited for the week. My hubby and I went here for lunch. It doesn't seem as well plated as the other restaurants we visited during this week, however the food was really tasty. We both tried something different so we could sample it all. First course - cream of cauliflower, jalapeno, and cheddar soup. Shrimp salad with butter leaf lettuce with baby shrimps and a honey mustard dressing. The soup was amazing! If this is on the menu, you should really try it. Although everything was good, this was my favourite thing on the menu. The shrimp salad was tasty too...we were both impressed on how many fresh baby shrimp were in this salad. I really dislike mustard, so I didn't think I would like this much, but actually it was really flavourful. We both tried different main dishes. I picked the Tandoori salmon with shrimp Biryani, raita and saffron sauce. My husband went with the chicken rigatoni with mushrooms, spinach and alfredo sauce. So I am not sure if the chef was feeling under pressure, but both dishes seemed like they were not quite finished. The salmon was tasty and the yogurt raita a good compliment. the saffron sauce did not add to the dish, and I was really confused by the rice. First of all, I know Biryani and this wasn't it. Biryani is the East Indian version of fried rice...should be evenly mixed with spices and whatever meat and veggies are available. This rice was a pale counterpart. There wasn't any shrimp in it, it had a very odd colour (pinkish) and was not evenly flavoured. It seemed like the broccoli was thrown off as an afterthought. Biryani done properly should be fragrant full of East Indian spices...not the white rice with a smear of pink as shown. It wasn't bad tasting but definitely not what you should be expecting when ordering it. My husbands' chicken rigatoni was flavourful enough but definitely not hot enough. If you see the photos the cheese isn't melted. However, with saying these things...the portions were large, the flavours were there, just needed some tweaking. Or server was pleasant enough and they have a very nice cocktail menu. And for 15 bucks a real bang for your buck. My verdict is that for Edmonton dining this was a great deal...generally the flavours worked well, the portions were generous, and they had a good diversity of things to try. However, I would not pay full price for these dishes (except the soup...the soup was amazing).

Chipotle glazed lamb shank with fresh cut fries and daily veg

I came here with work mates before a spectacular show at the Winspear Centre. The food here was OFF THE HOOK! Going in I thought it was on the pricey side but the portion sizes make it a value if anything. I had the chipotle glazed lamb shank and a glass of Beaujolais. The lamb shank is braised for at least 24 hrs according to our friendly server. The way it fell apart with barely a motion of my fork made me believe her. I asked for their fresh cut fries instead of the mashed potatoes and boy were they tasty! Crispy, shoestring cut and with a side of their delicious aioli. Most of my colleagues had the Striploin with mashed and veggies. They were all cooked as ordered and the portion size looked more generous than was stated on the menu. Overall a great experience and I will be back!

I have mobility issues and I was very thankful it was nice outside and we could sit on the patio as much as the hard benches were. I would not recommend this place if you have issues with stairs. A small but mighty menu mostly focusing on veg options. Which I actually like but I wouldn't bring my meatatarian husband here. Luckily I was there with my friend and not my husband and we decided to split a bunch of things. We tried the fried foccacia with hummus, the tom yum garlic scapes, the braised lentils and the dark chocolate tahini truffles. Our favourites were the hummus, thick and creamy and paired well with the fluffy foccacia. Also the dessert the tahini truffles were really unique and delicous. Everything else was fine but I probably wouldn't order it again. Server was friendly and knowledgeable.

The hardest part of dining here is trying to find parking because there is very little parking available, even if you are willing to pay for it. Once that obstacle is behind you the restaurant is a treat. We ordered two dishes to share between the two of us. Three might have been best if you don't want dessert, but we did so two dishes were fine. The first was the sweet potatoe mochi. It was quite tasty and suitable for small appetites. Next they brought out the coconut Thai red curry brisket. It was tasty and filling but the beef tasted overcooked (or old). For dessert we ordered the sticky date cake which was rich and tasty. The off menu special was the pear bread pudding with chocolate mousse. It was nice and light making it the best dessert. This was a great evening and the service was top notch. I recommend Little Wolf to anyone who wants a fine evening out.

We were there during a hockey playoff game so it was a lot of fun. My only issue with this restaurant is the lack of parking space. This is one of the main reasons we don't eat here regularly. Overall, I still give this place a 4.5/5 stars.

I jumped on the chance because I love the pizzas here. They have a soft doughy crust. So we ventured here for lunch. It wasn't too full, and it took a while for someone to notice and get us seated. We actually debated leaving, however finally they seated us, it was all good. (Hence why it looses a star). Atmosphere is pretty typical for a craft brewery. I am not a huge sports bar fan, and I was pleased to see that TVs were not a focus here. Menu is good. Lots of different things to try, but they are well known for their pizzas. Great selection of beers. Also an okay selection of cocktails and wine. I am on medication, so I tried a "near beer" can that they offered and I was pleased with the flavour. I wish they would have a non alcoholic that is more local on tap. Hubby because of driving went with a coke. We decided on two pizzas - PB & J which contained roasted pineapple, smoked bacon, fresh jalapeño, mozzarella, brick blend and the Animal Style -Ezzo pepperoni, seasoned beef, bacon, pizza sauce, crushed chilis, Grana Padano. Both came out hot and fresh and tasty. I enjoyed my toppings better, however my husband's pizza sauce was absolutely perfect. Service (once we were seated) was pleasant. We received some chocolate dipped strawberries as a customer appreciation gift and that was lovely. My goal is to try all the pizzas. Give it a go if you like Detroit style pizzas.

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!
