Normandy Builders of Hinsdale, Illinois, did an excellent job remodeling our kitchen in Elmwood Park, Illinois. While planning a complete redo (to studs, new floor tiles, new walls and ceiling) we attended a free seminar at their showroom in Hinsdale. Satisfied with their approach, we had residential designer Leslie Lawrence evaluate our kitchen, and she suggested three approaches, each with its own drawing and budget. After multiple productive visits, we opted on a fourth compromise plan. Leslie was patient and flexible, going along with the evolution of our plans until we were happy. Only at this point did we sign a contract and make a deposit on the project. Having extensive materials to select from in one showroom was a plus. The construction was overseen by Normandy's Walter Peterson, a quiet master builder, who handled most of the demolition, constuction and cabinet installation himself. He had the assistance of Normandy plumbers and associates when needed. He worked cleanly and efficiently, offereing many suggestions on how to manage the fine points of construction. Both Leslie and Walter met with us as a group multiple times during the project to air out any questions and suggest changes where new issues popped up. The entire project took slightly longer than anticipated, due to unforseen circumstances beyond anyone's control. The final product matched what we had agreed to, and to Normandy's credit they sent out a team to make minor adjustments even after the final payments were made. We fully recommend anyone considering a major kitchen renovation to consider Normany Builders for their quality and all-inclusive work. They handle everything, from village permits to sweep-up, and they do what they promise. They are flexible and ready to make necessary changes mid-project when needed. If you are looking for a great remodeling company, then Normandy is the one you should choose. We have recently totally gutted and remodeled our bathrooms and are immensely pleased with the results and are looking forward to tearing down walls on our main living room area redoing the Kitchen and making that area one big room. Karen Chanan has been our designer on our bathroom remodel and has been working with us to create exactly what we are looking to do for our next project. Daryl Kemp was our project manager on our bathroom remodels. He was at our house every day making sure that the remodel was being done the right way and in a timely manner. I also received an email at the end of every day informing me of who was coming out the next day and even giving me a time if possible as to when they were showing up to do the work. His crew that did our remodel were talented, courteous and always on time. They did an exceptional job. We are looking forward to continue working with Normandy to do our next remodel project. In response to the woman who stated that Normandy only wanted a man to make decisions, that is incorrect. I as a woman was in charge of most of the decisions made and not my guy and there was no problem with them about this. So that is a blatantly false statement on her part. We recently hired Normandy Builders. for a kitchen remodel. The entire job was on schedule, the quality of work and craftsmanship was superb and everyone on the construction crew was outstanding. The workers were professional and left our home neat and clean each day. We especially liked the ease of going to their show room in Hinsdale and making all our selections for cabinets, countertop, flooring, backsplash tiles, plumbing fixtures and hardware. An unexpected benefit was the Normandy Builders discount we received at Abt Electronics for all our new appliances which saved us a lot. The estimated cost of the project was right on the money too - no surprises. We had started looking for a builder back in October of 2010 and spent quite a bit time and money with other designers but were not happy with the design and cost. Normandy had just completed a job in our subdivision so we decided to call them to see what they could do. We were elated with the outcome of that phone call. We absolutely love our new kitchen. We had a great experience with Normandy and would recommend them highly We engaged them, after evaluating multiple contractors, to completely redesign and remodel our two bathrooms. It was a lengthy process since we could only do one bathroom at a time. To add to the complexity, we changed the size of both bathrooms and had to relocate virtually every plumbing fixture and electrical element. We did our contract signing in September of '21, started the construction in April and were fully completed in July. Bryan Brisky was our main contact as the designer and we couldn't have been happier with his design ideas, helpful recommendations and communication. During our construction phase, Dave Imgrund was always there to manage all the loose ends with the trades (who were all excellent by the way) and to provide us with information about next steps and timelines. While we initially considered trying to manage this project ourselves; we are soooo pleased we choose to use Normandy's expertise and resources. It made a very disruptive remodeling project much less stressful and we are very pleased with the look and functionality of our two new bathrooms! We used Normandy for three different projects in the past 8 years. Normandy did an addition on our house for the prior owner and we were impressed with how it fit in with the house style. First we remodeled the kitchen along with the first floor. Billy our carpenter was so talented. We felt very comfortable with everyone because Greg Glatz was our superintendent. He kept us apprised of everything that was going to happen every day. The next project was to replace the windows in the whole house. Again Billy was our carpenter...we requested him. We wanted Greg back, but he had retired and we got Brian Preston as our super. He did a great job as well. We put in Pella windows and are very happy with them. Last year we remodeled our master bathroom. Brian was our project manager again and we also got Billy for our third project. We have been in our house for 15 years and the bath was the last room that needed help. It is so beautiful. Liz Reifschneider was our designer. She really pushed us to do a heated floor under the tile, which is amazing. She helped us to create a design that we never dreamed of. After putting off our kitchen remodel for years, we finally decided it was time. We wanted a firm that could manage the project from beginning to end and one that was experienced with old houses. We decided to go with Normandy Remodeling and we are very happy with our decision. Laura Barber is a wonderful designer. She came up with options for our new kitchen and then helped me pick out everything that we needed. I was not looking forward to the picking out of counter tops, flooring, cabinet, tile, grout, etc but with Laura's help it was a lot easier than I anticipated. She helped me through the whole process and now I have a beautiful and functional new kitchen! Pete Juska was our construction superintendent. He did a very good job keeping the project moving and keeping us informed. The project included complete inside demolition of our old kitchen through the creation of our new kitchen. He was always very aware that we were still living in our house and made sure that other than the kitchen, the construction did not get in the way of our lives. We hired Normandy to remodel our 2nd floor bathroom. Price was in line with other contractors. In addition to gutting the entire bath, we also were able to expand the bathroom 2 feet in one direction. The bathroom turned out great, and the process was pretty painless. Normandy took great measures to keep everything neat and clean. They were well organized, and things ran smoothly. Although everyone from Normandy was very professional, one person that was a class act was our Designer Leslie Molloy. My wife and I recognized from the beginning of the project that Leslie was a very GENUINE person, and we were both very comfortable with her. She did a great design of our bathroom, and helped us pick fixtures, tiles, designs, and colors. We were never rushed, in fact on many occasions she spent extra time with us. Finally, she would always call and check that the job was progressing to our satisfaction. She even came out to our house twice to look at the progression of the bathroom. I recently used Normandy Remodeling for my kitchen and powder room renovations and was very fortunate to have had Kelley Irvine as my Designer. Kelley guided me step by step throughout the entire process. Kelley was very creative with her suggestion of a new design layout that totally transformed my small, very outdated 1960s kitchen into a larger, modern, updated, open concept look. She also provided great suggestions for my powder room. The difference between the before and after pictures is absolutely amazing! Kelley answered my questions and concerns. She was very patient, knowledgeable, responsive, organized, detail-oriented, prompt and always followed up. She has great listening skills and ensured that all of my needs and wants were incorporated into the project. Kelley also went above and beyond. I appreciated her helpful suggestions and input on fixtures, paint colors, window coverings and appliances. Kelley did a great job on my kitchen and powder room project and I am very happy with the results! I would definitely work with Kelley again and have recommended her to others. We used Normandy to add on an addition to our home. The "new " room was added off our kitchen and can be used as an additional family room or even an extension of the kitchen. Our designer Terry was wonderful- on the initial meeting , she paid close attention to our hopes and dreams for the room, walked thru our whole house to get a feel for our "style" and then came up with a beautiful design. The high ceiling and wonderful large windows really make the room special. Ken, our supervisor, kept the project moving quickly. Normandy had originally estimated 8-10 weeks to complete but due to good planning, it was done in 6. Some days we had drywallers, electricians and HVAC guys all here at once. Ken kept us appropriately advised of who was coming when (he probably updated me once a week with a general plan ie Monday the framers will be here, they'll finish by Weds and I'm hoping to get the electriicain in this week too). He was very available by phone or email. The one time I emailed him with a question , he replied within 10 minutes. The room turned out beautifully- we highly recommend Normandy based on our experience with them. read more

We just competed our 2nd project with Normandy. Our designer, Vince Weber worked with us on both projects. Vince is a very talented professional who listened to our needs and worked with us to accomplish our goals. He was objective in stating the pros and cons which helped us in making our decisions. Great personality and patient as we worked though every last decision detail. Bruce Pettingill was our PM. He was attentive and followed through with any issues we experienced. We greatly appreciated the evening daily email updates which provided guidance on what would occur the following day. Bruce was extremely reachable and was always available via phone or text. Huge shout out to Tom the Normandy handyman. He assisted us regarding an issue from our previous project. He was extremely helpful and experienced. We felt that Normandy stood by their work and that is HUGE!!! The issue we had was a few years later and Normandy helped to solve the problem and resolve the issue. We had over six companies come out to discuss our remodel, and Liz Marusin was truly in a league of her own! From the moment we met her, she was incredibly professional, prompt, and thorough. Liz took the time to really think through our design and was impressively detailed in her approach. Out of everyone we interviewed, she was hands-down the best. I have had 5 custom homes built and done several extensive remodels. The Normandy team, Vince Weber, Designer and Rick Ruh project manager, is, by far, the best experience I have ever had. The project was a kitchen and bath remodel and room addition. The new design dramatically improved the appearance and flow of the entire first floor. Visitors comment that it doesn't look like the same house. We could not be more pleased. The Normandy sub-contractors were all highly talented and professional. Our project had several changes and these were handled quickly and professionally. In addition, all of the work was completed on-time according to the pre-construction schedule. It was extremely helpful to get the daily updates from Rick. We always knew what was going to happen next and the timing so we could go on with our lives during the construction. Chris was there every step of the way, always available, hugely talented, and so easy and nice to work with. Rick and his crew were the same. They were all consummate professionals. When they were mid-remodel, I remember mentioning that I couldn't wait to review them because I was so impressed by our experience. Working on a project with Laura Barber and Craig Jeffers was great. I had 3 bathrooms remodeled and Laura and Craig were always extremely informative and helpful. Laura is adept at coordinating materials, colors, and options to design bathrooms. Whenever some issue arose, one or both would come up with a plausible solution to the problems. Laura was very professional and careful at designing my bathrooms. Craig managed my bathroom projects like a seasoned veteran. The tradesman that worked in my home were polite and answered my real time questions. I feel very lucky to have these 2 outstanding Normandy employees work with me and in my home for several months. A wonderful experience, from beginning to end. Our designer, Leslie, patiently (and painlessly) walked us through each step of the process from choosing our materials to what we could expect during install. She was very in tune with our tastes and her suggestions were extremely valuable. We were able to start with a vision, and revise it until it met 110% of our expectations. She followed us during installation, with visits and emails to check on our satisfaction along the way. Our Supervisor, Ken, was on top of everything, accommodating to every question we had, and took direct supervision of each contractor so that we felt very comfortable having them in our home. Trust the negative reviews. Outrageously over priced. You can find many other General Contractors to do the same work much less expensively. Don't buy the sales pitch. They coach their sales people on just that. "Price doesn't matter, we are the best" Just not true Most sales people are young and inexperienced with a large turn over of sales people, subcontractors and superintendents due to how they are treated and underpaid. The entire business model is top heavy funneling all the money to the top. The good people that used to run this business are all gone. This leaves the customer with a poor product and highly over charged. Don't waste your good money. read more

We had two additions on the house we still live in in the mid-1990's and can tell you if we had to do it again, we would use Normandy. They designed additions that looked like they belonged to the house - which was key. And they kept their contractors steadily busy - which made them very happy and ensured the quality of the build. They were not the highest or the lowest bid for our work but they seemed extremely experienced and confident every step of the way.
