This is what I call, my kind of place. Being from the NY/NJ area, we love our diners, especially the traditional looking ones. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome and told there was a 15 minute wait. About 10 minutes later we were welcomed in. You could immediately see the interaction between the staff and at least half the customers, to me that said, this was their usual place. That's typically a great sign. We had some basic breakfast food, Chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, country fried steak and eggs (a family go to) and a Mediterranean omelette. Everything was delicious, but my country fried steak and eggs was one of the best I have ever had. After a few minutes with our food, both the waitress and the cook checked on us. By the time we left our interaction with the staff became quite friendly. They really know how to make a customer feel welcome. To me, this place is great! And I love small diners where they cook and handle the food in front of you because you know they have nothing to hide. I would highly recommend this place. I wish the owners the best of luck. Once again driving on I 95 n was lunch time and was hungry As usual turned to my favorite'Yelp' app to find me a good restaurant n saw Norms Diner with great reviews. So thought we'd try it. Quaint place less than 5 mins ftom I 95. Not very fancy but clean. Loved the restrooms. Small n fancy. Check it out. Staff is v friendly or amazing. Well there were so many items on the menu. Tough choice. We had the hot chocolate which was v good. I decided to try the shave steak bomb which was delicious- had shaved steak, onions, peppers n cheese, came w yummy home fries which were to die for. big portions. October 24, 2025, 6:15 a.m. I stopped in for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. I didn't have time to sit down, so I asked for an order to go. I paid immediately plus tip. The female cook took the order and placed the sandwich in front of me. I tried to take the sandwich, but she started yelling at me as if I were stealing something: "Don't touch it! Don't touch it!" A very unpleasant experience. Absolutely no reason to do that to me. This taught me to never pay upfront and to leave a tip unless the service deserves it, as was the case here. The people working there (at least female cook) are mentally unstable. Not coming back in the future. read more

Norm's Diner is the most comfort breakfast food you'll experience in Groton. The diner is super busy in the mornings, and sometimes you'll have to wait in the parking lot or the street parking or outside to get a seat in the diner. However, it is worth the wait! The Breakfast Grinder was a large portion of food, but it was really good and seasoned very well. I didn't really need to use the hot sauce. The hash potatoes were nicely cooked as well. Both my friend and I ate the whole plate. Other dishes seemed like a large portion too, so I recommend coming here with an empty stomach! read more

Stopped by prior to boarding New London ferry to Orient point. Parking was limited but available when we pulled in at 0830am on Labor day. When we walked in there were families waiting to be seated however when we entered Norms diner there were seats available at the counter which was great. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by the server. He poured us 2 cups of coffee in these large cups which were really nice. I ordered the western omelette w a side of hash browns and an english muffin which was large. My wife ordered 2 scrambled eggs, has browns with toast. Service was fast and friendly. The food was outstanding. There is a locals vibe which was very nice. The staff engaged with the customers and everyone seemed to be enjoying themself. Prices were reasonable and I felt the food portions were generous. Overall I would highly recommend Norms Diner. read more

Just had breakfast here. When a bunch of locals are eating and the staff know their "usual", you know it's good. Home fries have a great seasoning on them plus the eggs, sausage, bacon, and rye toast? Perfect. My husband had a chocolate chip pancake which was delicious! The meat lovers, and the Mediterranean were packed. There wasn't a single bite that didn't include the fillings. The place is busy & the food is fresh. So good!! Family of 4 stopped in around noon. Only a 15 minute wait at primerime brunch hours on a Sunday. I could see why when we went in: quick, efficient service. Fun atmosphere. Great host. One kid got the chocolate chip pancakes, the other kid got the veggie wrap- she said it had too many olives but she ate it once she picked some out. Husband got the breakfast steak sandwich which he thoroughly enjoyed. I enjoyed my pancake sandwich. My family and I stopped here for breakfast on a road trip. It was the perfect diner experience - the place was warm and inviting and smelled like bacon and coffee. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered a western omelette with cheese, eggs cooked on the dry side. Are usually have to send my omelettes back, but this one was cooked perfectly. And it was super flavorful (just the right amount of veggies and ham). My husband and kids got eggs and meat. All were cooked well. My daughter ordered the sourdough toast which was thick and fresh. Dale, our server, was patient, friendly, and efficient. There are plenty of signs outside the diner as you're walking in to remind you to wear your mask. While we were eating, a man tried to walk into the diner without a mask on. The cook very politely reminded him that he needed to wear a mask because of the town mandate. The man asked the cook if they had a mask he could wear which they did not. So the man left. I was really impressed by the way the cook handled this situation and really grateful they are doing their part to keep people safe. read more

Norms has really changed over the years. It use to be the go to spot for when you had a midnight craving and the staff was amazing. Now they have limited hours and the food is questionable depending on what you order. The home fries are horrible unless you like eating burnt small pieces of potatoes then it's good. The omelettes are barely filled with ingredients. But the toast was really good. The service was slow the last two times I went here for breakfast. Parking is tricky, the parking lot needs work.
