I thought that was cute and efficient. You get up, grab a mug and pour your own hot drink. I order the sampler which had a little of everything and my fiancé order the blueberry pancakes. We didn't know what to expect but the portions was huge. The French toast was good and the pancakes were normal nothing special. The home fries was a small portion on the plate. The bacon, eggs and sausage were good. To be honest I didn't need 4 slices of toast. Two max would have been good enough. My fiancé enjoy his blueberry pancakes. We didn't finished what we order cause it was so much. Overall great place if you want that diner style breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back.

Since it was a weekend, only breakfast options were available on the menu and some items are more expensive than they would be during the week. Inside is typical diner decor with clear plastic over the wood tables. The food was good, but everything else was disappointing. First is the noise. Not only is there lots of yelling between the staff, the music was incredibly loud and obnoxious. The staff generally were not very friendly. Our server was visibly short when taking our order and following up, but spent time chatting with regulars at the counter, so it wasn't due to being busy. My son was actually so stressed by her and the overall vibe in the restaurant that he rushed through his meal so we could leave quickly. In hindsight, there are a number of earlier yelp reviews that call out friendliness and get a harsh response from the owner/manager, so I fully expect one here. Point is, unless you're a regular, don't expect much warmth. Coming back to the food, everything our party ordered tasted great and there were mostly empty plates when we left. I really like seeded rye toast with my eggs, but they don't have it as an option. Prices were in the $10-15 range if you don't order something with meat. In summary, a loud diner with solid food and hurried vibe.

This place is awesome! I was in New London for the sailfest. In the morning I ventured out for breakfast. After a couple bad experiences, I walked back to my car, intending to look outside New London for breakfast, I came upon Sunrise Cafe. I went in. What a wonderful surprise! Celine was my waitress. She was so pleasant and attentive, my day brightened. Breakfast was great! Just what I wanted....scrambled eggs and hash browns so light and good. Bacon to die for, done to perfection---not to soft, not to crisp. Definitely my go to place from now on when I am in New London!! read more

Terrible service. Had to stand up and get our own menus. The server touched all of the silverware with her bare hands AFTER we watched her touching her hair. The bathroom is filthy. And our food took over an hour. 3 tables came after us and got their food AND CHECK before we got our food. The owner should rethink its employees. read more

Just moved to New London and a friend and I wanted to go out for breakfast. This was our first pick and it was amazing, lovely waitress and fast service! Beautiful little place.
