Stopped by the Groton Wood-n-Tap for Taco Tuesday and had a great experience sitting at the bar. Katherine was awesome--friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout my visit. Jason was also a big help, and Ella was super friendly whenever we crossed paths. The $3 Taco Tuesday special is hard to beat. I had the fish and shrimp tacos, and both were excellent. The fish tacos were my favorite--spicy with just the right kick, and the kale and pickled onions balanced everything out perfectly. The shrimp tacos were delicious too. Katherine also took the time to explain the rewards program, which includes a free birthday appetizer, half-price bottles of wine on Mondays, $5 off for signing up, and rewards points that turn into discounts. A no-brainer imo. Great food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Katherine and Jason really made the experience stand out. I'll definitely be back... every Tuesday lol. read more

This was my fifth time eating at Wood-n-Tap, but today's experience completely blew the previous visits out of the water. First and foremost, **David was an absolute superstar of a server.** He was incredibly attentive, professional, and so genuinely friendly--even while dealing with my crazy 2-year-old, which is no easy feat! He made us feel completely welcome and at ease. On top of the top-notch service, **the food was so much better than before.** Whatever changes have been made in the kitchen recently are definitely working, because every dish was spot-on. We were warned by good friends to not go here. What did we do instead? Yup, we went there. What a horrible experience! We were a party of 4, restaurant about 20% full. We ordered nachos, and our friends ordered the $27 Bourbon Sirloin Steak. Waited about 30 minutes wondering where our food was. After45 minutes it finally arrived! Nachos were cold and the steak was just awful. It was the size of a single McDonalds patty, tough as nails, and smothered in Bourbon sauce. We called our server over and explained we were far from happy with our meal. Actually, she was the only good part of the experience. I forget her name, I think it was Anise, but she was very friendly and chatty, mentioned she's moving to Hawaii w/her boyfriend this month. (July 2026) Her manager came over and was very apologetic, told us she would take care of the bill. She also gave us coupons for free appetizers and a drink on our next visit. Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner and it looks very nice on the inside! I ordered a NY strip ($36) 14oz which came with two side, which I chose the risotto and asparagus. The steak was cooked to a correct medium temperature. The cut seemed pretty decent , however it was lacking in seasoning. The sides were also very just meh, a little bland for me personally. Staff and service was quite quick, given it wasn't busy. Overall it seems like a more upscale American restaurant, but the food didn't reflect that same vibe. Waitress apologized for the kitchen they said was short staff . It was also Taco Tuesday . After waiting an hour was offered some chips and salsa to eat . When food came out a dinner was completely cold which manager did comp. Food was just ok . Casual setting louder on bar side . Buffalo chicken dip was good . Another great meal experience. We went a little early and were seated quickly. We already had an idea of what we wanted so we were quick to order. The place was loud and bustling but there was a fun vibe to everything. I laughed at how quickly the servers were practically running around clearing tables, getting out drinks and serving food. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for some quick bites before dinner later in the evening. We sat at the bar which is huge and wraps around half the restaurant. TVs were on but not super loud so you could carry on conversation. I got one of the martini specials they had. It was excellent, not too sweet but also could tell it was still a martini. I got one taco and although it was nothing to write home about, for how little I paid for it, it was great. It was hot and flavorful but just a basic taco. The bartenders both were attentive and willing to chat if you wanted to. There was one waitress who was working this shift and she was so loud and miserable. She hates her job and everyone including patrons could tell. She walked by us once and let out a huge sigh and I could feel her breath on my neck. I was fairly grossed out. This is why a 4 and not a 5 star. All it takes is one person to bring the vibe down. We like to come to this chain because it's scratch kitchen and a huge portion of menu either is gluten free by nature or could be made into a gf version. My husband has celiacs and didn't have any issues eating here. They have a separate gf menu and staff is knowledgeable and not annoyed when you tell them gf. Came here for a birthday celebration with a group of 16! We had an awesome time and our server was amazing. I ordered the fried calamari to start. It was good. For dinner I got the FILET MEDALLIONS* Perfectly seasoned, fork tender, topped with our delicious bordelaise sauce* it came with 2 sides I pick Brussels sprouts but they ran out. So I got asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. As for the steak I ordered it medium and it came out medium well with a char on the outside. From the steak being so charred on the outside that was all you could taste. So I didn't really enjoy it. We ended with crème brûlée for dessert and it was yummy. I was happy with my overall visit until I realized the next day when I looked at my credit card statement and saw that I was overcharged 150$ I called the restaurant and there was confusion with another bill at the table that wasn't paid. This restaurant thought it was OK to add the other bill onto mine when I had already signed for my final bill of 100$ . After talking with the restaurant, I got my money refunded to me. read more

Visited on a Saturday evening so it was lively but no wait. While sitting at the bar, I was able to take it all in. The place is pretty big with outdoor seating, booths and more. The bar is nice too, and pretty stacked. Service was a little slacking however - the bartender failed to mention the reverse happy hour and only gave us the standard menus. It wasn't until someone asked that she gave us the late night happy hour specials which, might I add, are a good deal! Its everyday starting at 8:27pm. Odd right? There's a story behind that. We recently visited Wood N Tap with my family, and it was a particularly memorable experience as it marked my daughter's first visit. From the moment we walked in, she agreed that she was struck by the warm and inviting interior. The woodwork throughout the restaurant is beautifully done and creates a cozy yet refined atmosphere, something my daughter immediately noticed and appreciated as well. She said the place made her happy. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, parking was still available--even after circling the lot a couple of times--which was a pleasant surprise given how packed the place was. We were seated comfortably in a booth, and our server, Michael, truly set the tone for the evening. He was exceptionally attentive and patient, especially as we took our time deciding on both drinks and food. Michael was also very knowledgeable and answered several questions regarding the limited-time winter menu options. Throughout our visit, we genuinely felt well taken care of by him and have absolutely no complaints about the service he provided. Our food selections did not disappoint. The large bison burger was cooked perfectly to order--juicy, flavorful, and surprisingly clean to eat. It had shredded lettuce, cheese and the bun was nice and toasty while still being soft inside. The fried onions was a great touch and immediately recognized. The person who ordered it especially appreciated that it was not greasy and lacked excess fat, making it both satisfying and well-balanced. The adobo chicken taco bowl was a standout and an instant hit with my daughter. This was a plus for this visit as she has a hard time picking her meals. She has gluten allergy and is bored to death with other choices she has all the time. I have to say Wood-n-Tap has a great gluten free menu. She loved the depth of flavor with the chicken pieces, and the chipotle aioli was a highlight; the addition of fresh lime elevated the dish and, in her opinion, was both perfect and necessary. I opted for the buffalo wrap, which was a solid choice overall. While I did wish the chicken had been a bit warmer, it was still tasty and nicely crunchy. The blue cheese crumbles added great value to the wrap and complemented the flavors well. I paired it with sweet potato fries, which were excellent, though I did find the upcharge for substituting them to be higher than what is typical at other restaurants in the area. I thought I was not going to eat much or anything at all since I had a late lunch, but after tasting the great flavors on the wrap I kept eating very happily. While this visit was very enjoyable, I would like to note a recurring concern regarding the bar area, where I usually sit when visiting with friends or my sister. Service at the bar has been inconsistent over time. Out of approximately eight visits, only two bartenders--Amanda and a gentleman in his 40s with tattoos--have consistently been attentive and welcoming, not only to us but to others seated nearby. Unfortunately, I have had friends mentioned that they have walked out after waiting too long at the bar without being acknowledged or offered drinks. I sincerely hope management will take note of this, as it can significantly impact the overall experience; and I don't want that to happen to this place. That said, Wood N Tap remains a place I genuinely like and want to see continue to thrive. With its inviting atmosphere, strong food offerings, and excellent service when it's done right, a bit more consistency--particularly at the bar; could truly elevate the experience across the board. read more

I have been in a few times and really enjoy their happy hour. It's very nice that they have 3-6 and 8:27 to close for happy hour. The espresso martinis are great, the staff is nice but if it's busy sometimes service can be slow. The apps are great and I enjoy their food. It's a great spot to go with family there are so many food options. They did a great job with the decor, and it's so nice they have outdoor seating in the summer. read more

My girlfriend and I walked in for the first time time today excited because we heard there were gluten free options available. (Allergy for me not preference). We were impressed with the ambience. Honestly don't know what happened but we came and let the servers know we had a gluten allergy. Another server brought out a humus plate with suspicious looking pita. We asked to confirm if this is gluten free. They insisted it was. We were amazed because it seemed too good to be true. After we ate about 1/4 of it wowed by how good it was, they came out to let us know that it wasn't gluten free pita. Pretty unacceptable after making them aware of the allergy and double checking with them before starting to eat. Also somewhat surprised that our waitress who was the only one who had nothing to do with the screw up was the only one to apologize to us, even though the manager was made aware. The only reason it isn't 1 star on everything is because they made an effort to let us know as soon as they realized. Still should not have happened; am quite angry about it. If you have an allergy, do not trust this establishment to keep you safe. read more

Came here for a group work gathering. Parking very easy in the lot. They were nice and able to get big tables for us. The building is actually very nice and has so much natural lighting. It's very nice! The menu has a lot to chose from! I just was getting a small plate would definitely love back to try a bigger meal. I just tried the happy hour spicy tuna crispy rice and a chicken taco. They were both pretty good. Lots to choose from! Service a little slow but that's to be expected with such a large group. Took 15 mins for server to visit for drink orders after being seated, took 30 minutes to get our drinks (1 cocktail, 1 mocktail, 4 soft drinks/waters); took well over an hour to get our food order. Food came out lukewarm, kids chicken fingers were burnt/well done. Pickled onions on tacos were soggy not crisp. If I could give zero Stars, I would. They put our name in for a table at 6:16 PM and told us 5 to 10 minutes and 40 minutes later we were seated. I asked if they had given our table away or forgot? Seated we didn't get our food until an hour and 20 minutes later. The tables weren't even full. Another table could be heard complaining asking for their food. The food was terribly bland penne, salmon with risotto (it tasted like water and rice) but at least my son's Mac and Cheese was ok. We went back for a large order (gift card) to cater a game night and ordered it for 1:30 pick up. We showed up at 1:30 and were told 10 minutes. Then 5. Then 20. We visited today for dinner. Easily were seated and had a comfortable booth. A little loud with the high ceiling on the bar side. We ordered wings to start and asked for them extra crispy, not very crispy but glad we asked. They were good, and decent size order. I ordered the max and cheese...jt was tasty but very small helping for the price . She had the small house salad with grilled chicken. Basic and good. Our server was lacking personality and just overall sucked? I hope she has better days in the future because today was grim. It was as though she was annoyed to wait on us, very uncomfortable visit and then I asked another server if she could please get us napkins or our server and she snapped well who is your server??
