    New York strip

Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner and it looks very nice on the inside! I ordered a NY strip ($36) 14oz which came with two side, which I chose the risotto and asparagus. The steak was cooked to a correct medium temperature. The cut seemed pretty decent , however it was lacking in seasoning. The sides were also very just meh, a little bland for me personally. Staff and service was quite quick, given it wasn't busy. Overall it seems like a more upscale American restaurant, but the food didn't reflect that same vibe. I would personally would try something else in the area next time. Food(50%): 5.0 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 5.0 Overall: 5.6/10

We got the burger with fried onions, bacon, and cheese at The Wooden Tap and it was absolutely incredible. The burger was delicious and everything came together perfectly. The service was good and the atmosphere is great for hanging out with friends. Definitely a great spot for a casual meal and a fun night out!

Visited recently during vacation. We came back a year later to try again . We had a reservation for 5 .we did go during happy hour many tables open. Very slow service. Waitress apologized for the kitchen they said was short staff . It was also Taco Tuesday . After waiting an hour was offered some chips and salsa to eat . When food came out a dinner was completely cold which manager did comp. Food was just ok . Casual setting louder on bar side . Buffalo chicken dip was good . Hummus platter they downsized to half of what they served a year ago. Kids Mac & Cheese was same . Drinks were good alcoholic and mocktails. Tacos were good . Sandwiches not so good

We kicked things off with a refreshing guava margarita and then went all in with a margarita flight (rhubarb, dragonfruit, strawberry, and elderberry) Of course, we had to follow it up with a spicy mango margarita for a little kick For food, we started with calamari and chicken nachos for the table. I went with a buffalo chicken wrap paired with Parmesan tater tots, while my partner had the filet mignon topped with crispy onions, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. And because it was a celebration... green tea shots were definitely involved We wrapped the night with crème brûlée that was insanely creamy and the perfect sweet finish. Good drinks, great food, and even better company! couldn't have asked for a better vibe

Another great meal experience. We went a little early and were seated quickly. We already had an idea of what we wanted so we were quick to order. The place was loud and bustling but there was a fun vibe to everything. I laughed at how quickly the servers were practically running around clearing tables, getting out drinks and serving food. It did get crowded shortly after we sat down. Entrees took a little bit to come out. But the food was great.

Came here for a birthday celebration with a group of 16! We had an awesome time and our server was amazing. I ordered the fried calamari to start. It was good. For dinner I got the FILET MEDALLIONS* Perfectly seasoned, fork tender, topped with our delicious bordelaise sauce* it came with 2 sides I pick Brussels sprouts but they ran out. So I got asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. As for the steak I ordered it medium and it came out medium well with a char on the outside. From the steak being so charred on the outside that was all you could taste. So I didn't really enjoy it. We ended with crème brûlée for dessert and it was yummy. I was happy with my overall visit until I realized the next day when I looked at my credit card statement and saw that I was overcharged 150$ I called the restaurant and there was confusion with another bill at the table that wasn't paid. This restaurant thought it was OK to add the other bill onto mine when I had already signed for my final bill of 100$ . After talking with the restaurant, I got my money refunded to me.

Visited on a Saturday evening so it was lively but no wait. While sitting at the bar, I was able to take it all in. The place is pretty big with outdoor seating, booths and more. The bar is nice too, and pretty stacked. Service was a little slacking however - the bartender failed to mention the reverse happy hour and only gave us the standard menus. It wasn't until someone asked that she gave us the late night happy hour specials which, might I add, are a good deal! Its everyday starting at 8:27pm. Odd right? There's a story behind that. I didn't have food and just had a beer. Might return to try that French onion soup.

We recently visited Wood N Tap with my family, and it was a particularly memorable experience as it marked my daughter's first visit. From the moment we walked in, she agreed that she was struck by the warm and inviting interior. The woodwork throughout the restaurant is beautifully done and creates a cozy yet refined atmosphere, something my daughter immediately noticed and appreciated as well. She said the place made her happy. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, parking was still available--even after circling the lot a couple of times--which was a pleasant surprise given how packed the place was. We were seated comfortably in a booth, and our server, Michael, truly set the tone for the evening. He was exceptionally attentive and patient, especially as we took our time deciding on both drinks and food. Michael was also very knowledgeable and answered several questions regarding the limited-time winter menu options. Throughout our visit, we genuinely felt well taken care of by him and have absolutely no complaints about the service he provided. Our food selections did not disappoint. The large bison burger was cooked perfectly to order--juicy, flavorful, and surprisingly clean to eat. It had shredded lettuce, cheese and the bun was nice and toasty while still being soft inside. The fried onions was a great touch and immediately recognized. The person who ordered it especially appreciated that it was not greasy and lacked excess fat, making it both satisfying and well-balanced. The adobo chicken taco bowl was a standout and an instant hit with my daughter. This was a plus for this visit as she has a hard time picking her meals. She has gluten allergy and is bored to death with other choices she has all the time. I have to say Wood-n-Tap has a great gluten free menu. She loved the depth of flavor with the chicken pieces, and the chipotle aioli was a highlight; the addition of fresh lime elevated the dish and, in her opinion, was both perfect and necessary. I opted for the buffalo wrap, which was a solid choice overall. While I did wish the chicken had been a bit warmer, it was still tasty and nicely crunchy. The blue cheese crumbles added great value to the wrap and complemented the flavors well. I paired it with sweet potato fries, which were excellent, though I did find the upcharge for substituting them to be higher than what is typical at other restaurants in the area. I thought I was not going to eat much or anything at all since I had a late lunch, but after tasting the great flavors on the wrap I kept eating very happily. While this visit was very enjoyable, I would like to note a recurring concern regarding the bar area, where I usually sit when visiting with friends or my sister. Service at the bar has been inconsistent over time. Out of approximately eight visits, only two bartenders--Amanda and a gentleman in his 40s with tattoos--have consistently been attentive and welcoming, not only to us but to others seated nearby. Unfortunately, I have had friends mentioned that they have walked out after waiting too long at the bar without being acknowledged or offered drinks. I sincerely hope management will take note of this, as it can significantly impact the overall experience; and I don't want that to happen to this place. That said, Wood N Tap remains a place I genuinely like and want to see continue to thrive. With its inviting atmosphere, strong food offerings, and excellent service when it's done right, a bit more consistency--particularly at the bar; could truly elevate the experience across the board.

I have been in a few times and really enjoy their happy hour. It's very nice that they have 3-6 and 8:27 to close for happy hour. The espresso martinis are great, the staff is nice but if it's busy sometimes service can be slow. The apps are great and I enjoy their food. It's a great spot to go with family there are so many food options. They did a great job with the decor, and it's so nice they have outdoor seating in the summer.

The place looked absolutely perfect, the server was OK, didn't seem to ambitious, we ordered the nachos with chicken app(was amazing and plenty of it), and I got the dirty chicken sandwich which was not so great(the piece if chicken was like a 1/4 inch thick if that) and lacked flavor.....I will go back to see if this was a fluke off day....we shall see then and update accordingly!

Came here for a group work gathering. Parking very easy in the lot. They were nice and able to get big tables for us. The building is actually very nice and has so much natural lighting. It's very nice! The menu has a lot to chose from! I just was getting a small plate would definitely love back to try a bigger meal. I just tried the happy hour spicy tuna crispy rice and a chicken taco. They were both pretty good. Lots to choose from! Service a little slow but that's to be expected with such a large group. I would come back with a smaller group to try some other things on the menu.

Our second time coming. Heidi was our server and service was just as amazing as our first visit. What an amazing , kind and friendly server. This time we ordered off of the happy hour menu. Food and drinks were great.

While the customer service from our waitress was excellent and much appreciated, unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. The spinach dip lacked seasoning entirely--it had no salt or flavor. I ordered my steak medium, but it was served well done. Both the Brussels sprouts and asparagus were also under-seasoned and bland. Given the overall lack of flavor and attention to preparation, I would not return.

The parking lot is 'smallish' on the right side of the building and flows right to left in one direction, so be sure to look for the 'enter' sign. There are three steps up into the diner so be aware of that if you have difficulty using steps. Also, the restroom is tiny: like so small the sink is about a foot long by half as much wide, small. We stop in here on our trips out to Groton. Last visit we stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch. I ordered a coffee and it came in a nice big mug and is a mellow blend with a smooth finish. There are photo descriptions on the table of what your eggs will look like based on how you order it, so no surprises. What a great idea. The table holds napkins, hot sauces, salt & pepper, jellies, creamer and sugars. The staff are pleasant. Some are more chatty than others. There are definitely some regulars here each time we visit. The menu has lots of breakfast options but there are no substitutions so you may need to order al a carte or get a different 'meal' option and add-on an item. Just a heads up. They have plenty of toast options including English muffins. The lunch menu is a variety of sandwiches and burgers. Fries are tasty. Lettuce and tomato on your sandwiches are fresh. I can't think of a single disappointment we've had here. If you are in the area and enjoy a nice diner experience, stop in to Norm's.

The inside is really interesting, everything from old farm and country décor to hubcaps on the walls and you can immediately tell it's a local favorite with a lot of regulars coming in and out. The setup is pretty cozy with counter seating facing the kitchen, several booths, and a few tables. I actually enjoyed sitting at the counter because it gave me a full view of the open kitchen and the pace of the restaurant. While I was there, they had several cooks working along with a few servers/runners, so it was busy but still manageable. The menu is mostly breakfast classics; eggs, home fries, Belgian waffles, French toast, pancakes, etc. along with some larger specialty plates like the "Kitchen Sink" that looked huge. I ordered the traditional breakfast with eggs, fries, toast, and coffee for around $15, which honestly felt pretty reasonable these days. The food came out quickly and the prices overall seemed fair. Where things fell a little short for me was the service. My plate sat on the line for close to 10 minutes before my waitress remembered it was there after answering phones, checking people out, refilling coffee, and helping other tables. When she finally dropped it off, she didn't really acknowledge me or ask if I needed anything. It then took another several minutes to get butter and Tabasco for my toast and breakfast. I also couldn't help but notice a couple of food handling things since the kitchen is fully visible from the counter. The cooks appeared to wear gloves consistently, but I never saw gloves being changed, and some of the servers were preparing toast and fruit bowls while actively touching food without washing their hands in between tasks. That was probably the biggest downside for me personally. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience by any means. The atmosphere is unique, the prices are fair, and you can see why locals enjoy it. There are many different recipes for stuffed clams; many restaurants in New England have their own variety, as do many home cooks." - Wikipedia "Stuffies - $2.50" The sign caught my eye. I asked myself, "Self, what the heck are stuffies?!" I walked up to the cashier and asked her. She said it's a stuffed clam. Ahhh... In all the years I have been up to New England I never heard of "stuffies" before. Perhaps it could be in part to the fact that I usually frequent seafood restaurants vice watering holes when I am here... As I perused the menu I also saw a pastrami sandwich so I decided to eat here. I ordered the following: -Stuffies -Pastrami Sandwich Stuffies. (1.5 stars). Somehow I imagined this stuffed clam to have some texture & seasoning but not an overkill of salt & onions??!! The stuffing was extremely mushy & unpleasant to eat. I took one bite & didn't finish the rest of it. There were a few minuscule pieces of clam meat chopped up in the stuffing mixture but it was tough to even discern any real clam flavor. I'm sure the locals probably go crazy over GT's stuffies but I just am not a fan... Pastrami (Reuben) Sandwich. (2.5 stars). GT's pastrami sandwich is different from most places I have eaten at because they cook their pastrami slices on a flat top grill. The pastrami had a nice seasoning but some of the sides were a little too burnt for my liking. Instead of the usual 1000 island (yuck) I requested spicy brown mustard & while it was a bit messy to eat, definitely hit the spot on a cold day. The sauerkraut was nice & crunchy which I appreciated. The "rye" bread was quite soft & fell apart before I could take a bite into the sandwich. The rye bread tasted like sourdough bread... --- All in all, GT is a quaint little water hole that is located right across the street from EB (Electric Boat).
