Someone needs to get a dimmer going on. Put some art on the walls. Grey cement is industrial but not in a hip way when paired with the blazing lights.. Really felt like we were in a hospital cafeteria. Food was pretty good for pub fare. However, our appetizers came out with our dinners and we had no where to put it all on our tiny four top table. Also, the manager who brought our food told me it was our fault for ordering it all at the same time. Yes, she really did. Fact of the matter is that we ordered our appetizers 10 minutes before our food. And, what restaurant server doesn't know to bring salads before main course?? So we had the meatball appetizer, a flatbread, a salad and three burger plates all fighting for space. It was awkward. My beer was great! Place just isn't quite running at full speed yet. That's OK, but the guest taps are about what you would see at any other restaurant in the area. It's certainly not a curated beer list. The food: It's pretty bad. My husband and I have been twice now and we really want to like this place. It has a nice atmosphere, looks cool inside and their menu seems good. However, both times we have been very disappointed with the service. The servers seem very young, are uninformed and aren't knowledgeable on the menu, including the beers they serve! It's a brewery, so the staff should at the very least know something about their beer selection. We had several questions regarding the menu items and our server didn't know the answers, which we can understand except he didn't seem very eager to go find out either. We are hoping the service gets better with time, but the staff needs a lot more training. read more

Sadly, this will be a one and done place for us. Went to Norse based on good reviews and driving by and liking the looks of it. Had brunch, and the eggs Benedict were unlike any eggs Benedict I've ever had--a split English muffin with eggs and ham on one half only; absolutely nothing on the other half. Additionally, there was almost no Hollandaise sauce. Very strange, wasn't sure what the thinking was behind this preparation. Service was just OK, definitely not attentive. Excellent service, beer, and food. Susan was kind and took such great care of us after we were hungry and thirsty from biking all the way from Durham. I really loved my chicken sandwich, and their house made salt and vinegar sweet potato fries were to die for. I must concur with the other 1 and 2 star ratings of this place. the 5 star raters I suspect are workers or those associated with the business in an attempt to make this establishment look better than it is in reality. We were a party of 12 at one table who endured a time consuming process to be served. I had the Elk Sausage meal, unfortunately I was unable to taste the sausage due to the heavy amounts of spicy mustard that was laden in the over size role for the under size sausage (5 inch sausage in an 8 inch role). Others had ordered burgers to be cooked medium or medium well, but their burgers arrived being cooked medium rare to rare. Additionally, half of the group had there meal served while the other half of the group had to wait an additional 30 minutes for their meals to arrive. The serving staff were pleasant, which leaves me to believe the issue lies with the kitchen staff starting with the cooks not knowing how to properly prepare meals. On the plus side, I did enjoy the one beer I had ordered. My advice to anyone coming to this place, enjoy the brews and not bother with the food. read more

Our group wasn't impressed. It's a super cool spot and I think in time they might have the growing pains ironed out. We were told 30 mins after we ordered our food that the kitchen never received our order due to WiFi issues. We ended up waiting another 30 minutes to get our food. The pretzel appetizers arrived AFTER our burgers and after we reminded our waitress repeatedly for the pretzels. The burgers were dry. The 6 fries were good and so were the pretzels when they finally arrived. We got the wrong beer but because it took so long for us to get it we suffered through it- which was our fault but we didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes to get our beer. Weren't offered any sort of discount or incentive to come back. Basically the manager just blamed the WiFi and reiterated what the server told us. We left and went to Lonerider. read more

Our server Beth was upbeat and helpful. My husband and I snuck out for an afternoon date and had a FABULOUS experience. This was our first visit and we will definitely be going back. First and foremost, we requested a seat on the porch (even though it was really cold!) because we are being cautious about COVID due to plans to visit an immuno-compromised relative. We were immediately seated there and they turned on the outdoor heater on for us. The food was delicious and hot, and the beer and cocktails were great. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Went there yesterday for the first time. We had apps and beer and wine. The apps were great we had everything but the chicken tenders. Radish toast was perfect great flavors, the meat ball app was tasty would have liked some more of the cabbage relish though. The tots were good could use a bit more pork belly but good and the pretzel was tasty. I let the sever pick my beers they were perfect and the wine was good for my wife. We sat outside it was comfortable even in the heat. The only problem was the flies. Not enough air moving to keep them away from the over head fans. We visited Norse Brewing as we had family in town and wanted to check it out as we'd heard great things. We were really hoping to love this place but unfortunately left disappointed. The hostess was pleasant and joined two tables to seat our party of 7. Our server was also very nice throughout our time there. It took a long time for every order (drinks, appetizers, meals) to come out which would have been fine had the food been ok, which unfortunately was not. Those of us who ordered burgers were satisfied so I'd recommend sticking to those. The house made potato chips were disappointing- the sweet potato chips tasted like vinegar and the regular chips were soggy and saturated with oil. One of our guests ordered a chicken sandwich that was served clearly burned. There is an open kitchen to the dining area and that provided the most disturbing part of our experience when one of the cooks started screaming at someone else in the kitchen with multiple f- bombs. Thankfully it didn't turn violent but it went on for a while and there didn't seem to be any management around to address it. It was very uncomfortable as everyone in the dining room could hear it and several tables had children. We wanted to love this place but probably won't be back. read more

We were about an hour from home, needed lunch, and searched Yelp for the best burger near us. Norse Brewing won because of the Viking Burger- a blend of bison, boar, wagyu and elk. Downtown Wake Forest is quaint, and historical, but there is plenty of parking around. The restaurant is Norse from the Rune Stone slab out front, to the bearded ax door handles. Inside is clean and bright, and wide open. It made my anxious heart a bit more calm about eating inside. The staff are friendly and welcoming, Susan was awesome! Now the food... we were so hungry I didn't even take pictures. Get anything with the beer cheese, they make it in house and it is fantastic. The burger was good, earthy and wild in the best way. The blue cheese and onions complimented the meat well, not overpowering at all. I wish we lived closer, we would definitely put this into our regular places to eat rotation! read more

We tried this place due to it being rated one of the number one new restaurants that opened in 2020. The beer is stellar--would go back for that alone. The food was just ok. It was obvious our order had sat under a heatlamp for some time before it was delivered. The meatballs were good but suspect they were the same meatballs you get at Ikea. The sausage sandwich was tasty but the sausage was over-cooked. The "wedge" salad, while tasty, was Romaine and hard to eat--I expected icebetg as is what a wedge salad generally is. My red wine was served cold--as in the bottle came put of the fridge cold--not how red wine is supposed to be served. The cheesecake was the smallest piece of cheesecake I have ever seen in a restaurant--as in half the size of a normal slice. I liked the vibe of the place and the beer was stellar. I'd go back but will be skipping the food as it was just mediocre and not worth the price. read more

Went here earlier this week and the beer was great. Four of us went here tonight to get a quick beer before we went to eat elsewhere, but had a terrible experience. I saw the hostess to get seating upstairs but was told that they do not have enough seating, so she sent us downstairs. Talked to the hostess downstairs and just asked her if we could order at the bar and just stand around. She said that we could do that. The bar downstairs was very packed with people standing and sitting, so I asked the hostess if we could do the same upstairs since it was not that full. She said we could and we went upstairs. We waited at the bar for about 10 minutes and then were told that they were not letting people order at the bar even though it was being allowed downstairs. We gave up and left after that. read more
