AWFUL!!!!!! If I could give a 0 star I would. After going there (myself as a child) and bringing my 13yo son and 2 yo son to north Arlington; I had moved homes therefore did not receive bills via mail. After calling for an appointment, I was told my account was on hold. I got transferred to billing and paid a $400 bill "in order to schedule an appointment" after paying and being transferred back to scheduling, I was told that my children needed to be approved to be seen by the practice again. After going there and recommending them for MANY years and to MANY friends and family, I was told VIA VOICEMAIL that I am no longer allowed at this practice with my children. When calling for records to be released to see another ped, they refuse to answer phones and put you on hold for a long amount of time RUN FAR FROM THIS PRACTICE!!!!!!!! read more

Been seeing her for 3 years with multiple kids and her kindness and fantastic service each appointment has kept me coming back-- highly recommend for your lactation needs! - Dr Dobkins in particular is fantastic. A wealth of knowledge and experience. Never feel rushed and answers questions well, without any judgement. - Have always had fantastic and prompt response when needed after hours service with an on call doctor. - when needed same day appointment for emergencies, have never been refused and given same day appointment every time for the past 3 years. My daughter is 28 months old -- not even two-and-a-half -- and North Arlington Pediatrics won't accept her as a patient because they're only accepting patients two years and younger to ensure they're only taking patients who will be with them for the long-term Since when is 15.5 years (i.e. her being 18) not long term? I would understand if our child was six, seven, or eight, but being two years old is too "late in the game"? Bonkers. I'm sure the actual practice is good if you can actually get it, per the recommendations we got from friends (which is why I'm not rating them one star), but the new patient age policy is absolutely ridiculous. I would strongly urge NAP to reconsider the definition of "long term", as last time I checked, 15-16 years still is a pretty long time. read more

We have been a patient here for over 12 years. While we like the doctors, the office staff and their booking practices leave something to be desired. When a child is ill, they have a great system of having you speak to a nurse to determine if an ill appointment is necessary. Believe me, these nurses are very helpful, and have talked me off the ledge a few times as a new parent. Booking a sick child appointment has never been an issue. Booking a well child visit - leaves something to be desired. You cannot book physicals a year in advance. They do not send you a reminder email or text saying, "Hey you need to book your physical in 3 months and our calendar just opened up, give us a call" Nope - they really don't care if you never come back for a check up. ...or so it feels. Booking a flu or covid - just as lapse from their POV.... couldn't get in for over a month at Thanksgiving - they told me to go to Osco. The staff is curt, non-caring sounding, and busy. They just don't get it. Appointments are really only available during school hours - unless you get really, really lucky and can get a late evening appointment. I don't like to take my children out of school for a doc/dentist/ortho appointment as school is important. When my daughter broke her arm - no one from the office even called to check on her. We diagnosed the break at an urgent care, went to a specialist and her ped doc never even acknowledged it. Now as a teen, all the doc does is give her pamphlets about her period, or depression etc. Doesn't sit her down and really have a conversation like you would hope for. We are lucky - our children are happy, healthy and have no medical needs that make us visit often....which is why we stay. If we had to be there more than once a year - - I would put the work in to find a new practice. The doctors are nice - but they just really don't seem to put the kids first. read more

We have been patients here for almost 20 years. The front staff has changed and not for the better. They are very rude, incompetent, and inconsiderate. They aren't organized and very quick to snap at you when they don't have an answer. I used to feel very confident in this office but the last year or so that's has changed. I use to think that this was a great operation with caring staff. However, if you find yourself with any balance, regardless of working with insurance, you can forget about them being interested in caring for your child. Awaiting med records to switch providers and they are stalling and uninterested that care is being delayed due to this nonsene. I would want to give a 4 star but after dealing with their office and need for records cant explain how unhelpful they are. Paying you dont have any insurance issues or need your kids medical records. Not a good experience. read more

We were looking forward to our children going to North Arlington Pediatrics, as we've heard from a variety of friends/family that they are good; however, we are disappointed, to say the least, in their willingness to work with relocating families as their current policy is only to accept patients under 12 months old. read more

North Arlington Pediatrics has guided us to make decisions for our children. WE make the decisions. All the doctors our excellent and show compassion for parents and children. The nurses also answer questions, they have doctors in call and a sick waiting room. They provide parents with hard copies of information based off of their child's age. We are at a crossroads and we are not certain if we will continue with this practice. On the one hand, the doctors have been great with my two children. They have provided thoughtful answers to our questions and they have always treated our family in a kind and respectfull manner. On the other, we are considering our other options due a conversation with a back office staff person. I can't imagine that the doctors would purposefully hire a staff person that is condescending to patients- it isn't good for business. As a professional, I would never speak to a customer in this fashion. My wife and I have been blessed with four children. We also consider ourselves blessed to have been with North Arlington Pediatrics for about the last 10 years. No practice is perfect 100% of the time like a previous review left, but my kids have had there share of medical conditions and overall we have been VERY pleased with the entire practice. Just tonight I paged a doctor at about 7:30. They were still in and said bring over your son now. They are open usually four nights a week which is also quite convenient. Four kids have have been patients at NAP, and I can say that this might be the best medical practice I have ever experienced. The office is organized and efficient, sick kids can always be seen same day, and all the docs are outstanding. Great attention over the years from Dr Dobbin, Dr. Geleske, and Dr Walsh. Well, when I was pregnant we scheduled appointment at office for a tour and everything looked very good! Doctors at the hospital when the baby was born was phenomenal! But... when we had those ,,healthy visits,, have started problems. For every single visit we almost had to pay or we got their bill. I called, my husband called and now we have peace. Don't even want to talk about one of their doctors - and I will name her - dr. Michele Lawhun - she is AWFUL!! My baby never cries, when she had us, he cried like crazy, he knew she's not any good, she checked her in two minutes and left the office. She was checking him without any sensitivity, she wasn't gentle, she wasn't even talk to him like every other does, he is just 4 (he was 3 months old at her check up) months old!!! So, I was 100% sure I want to change this office!! And because moms don't have lots of time, there was 4 months check up and we got new doctor, who came back from her maternity leave and she IS THE BEST EVER!!!!! We want to keep her and just her! She was nice, she was listening to me, she was like 30 minutes with us with noooo hurry! And I know for other dr's - noone has kids!! Oh, and I have on of their nurses - the youngest one - she was soooooo coarse?! + is that they have sick and healthy rooms, they have nurse 24/7 and all those important stuff! read more

This is the only drs office I've never had billing issues with. We love most of the drs. I think walicki and geleske would be better suited to older patients but no medical complaints. Brown, lawhun, Walsh, and Anderson are our favorites. There's so mAny docs you can find who's right for you but be prepared to book early if you only want someone specific. The desk staff is decent, they always warn you when booking will be difficult and you should book early which I appreciate. read more

A NICU nurse referred me to NAP in 2010, and I have never looked elsewhere. My kids are often sick and have had their fair share of health issues, and they have never steered me in the wrong direction. The office staff is so friendly, helpful, and my kids love them. Geleske, Peters, Dobkin, and Lawhaun are my favorites, they take my opinions seriously and always are warm, yet professional. Any time I have called to be seen I always get in that day. When my children have been admitted to the hospital, they are calling and checking on my family. Keep up the great work! read more

My son has been in the care of the doctors here since he was born 1.5 years ago. Most doctors are excellent. I especially like Dr. Peters and Dr. Dobkin. We have seen most of the doctors in the practice as it has been difficult to schedule visits with the same doctor. I feel very confident with their level of knowledge and experience. The front desk staff is also very pleasant and helpful, as are most nurses in the practice. However, on more than one occasion, one of the nurses was very unprofessional to us. At our last visit she made a very condescending comment, which took me by surprise. I regret not mentioning anything to the doctor. Overall, the experience has been positive. read more

The Best! I have nothing but positive things to say about this practice. We've been going there for almost 4 years, starting with a prenatal consult. Now 2 kids later, we've moved and still drive 45 minutes to an hour just to see Dr Peters. He makes a point to remember both kids, talks at their level, and our kids don't mind being examined by him, which makes me more comfortable. NAP was recommended to us by a nurse friend of ours who has her son see the doctors here. The facility is very clean & always tidy. All the receptionists/nurses are very friendly and efficient. The longest I've ever waited is 3 minutes in the waiting room which is great compared to other peds. Although some complain that there are so many doctors, my daughter has seen almost every single one in her 15 mo of living and we love all of them (some are friendlier/more informative than others but they're all experts who know what's up)! Having a lot of doctors also means they can see more patients in a more efficient manner which I can't complain about. Don't be afraid to ask for samples (milk, vitamins, etc) and ask lots of questions if you have them. NOTE: you DO have to make a sick appointment/no walk-ins read more

I had a very good experience at this clinic during the 6 months we lived there. We would have remained with this clinic if we hadn't moved out of state. It was always very easy to get in for appointments and the nurse line was an invaluable tool. We love North Arlington Pediatrics. While we have seen almost every doctor there at one point or another, we schedule most of our appointments with Dr. Andrew Peters. He has seen our children grow, he knows our family history, and he takes time to learn what has been going on since we last visited. When we were in the hospital after the birth of our second child, he sat in the room with us for almost a half and hour and talked us through her condition. He is wonderful with the kids during an appointment, and is very calm. Our oldest asks to go visit him when we drive past the office. The nursing staff is wonderful, as well. We have had many Nurse visits for strep tests, ear cleanings, and shots, and they are ubber friendly. The front desk staff is very understanding of parents and busy schedules, and take the time to work with you. Please evaluate prior evaluation before taking it seriously. The mother cannot even spell or use correct grammar, and makes incorrect statements about a wonderful doctor's office. If you do not have insurance and need to pay out of pocket, or COURSE they are going to call and ask for payment. And re-read the bios, there is only 1 doctor at the practice who does not have children, but that does not make them a bad doctor. read more

My son has been a patient at North Arlington Pediatrics since he came home from the NICU in December of 2012. The practice came not only highly recommended from friends/relatives, but also from my son's neonatologist and cardiologist from Lurie Children's. So far, every doctor I have come in contact with at the practice has been knowledgeable and courteous. Never have I felt that a doctor rushed through an appointment. In fact, Dr. Peters once took the time to call Lurie's Cardiology department and wait on hold for my son's doctor there just to verify treatment recommendations. I never have to wait more than a few minutes in the waiting room for an appointment and they have same day sick appointments. Early on, we had several late night calls to the answering service and each time a doctor promptly returned our calls and addressed our questions. The only time I've had to wait to talk to a nurse was when I called first thing on Monday morning, and it wasn't that very long of a wait. Most importantly, the doctors are very familiar with the many specialists my son sees through Lurie, making care coordination easy. There is even a nurse specially dedicated to helping coordinate care. I would recommend this practice to anyone in the area. I know that they automatically accept newborns as new patients and any child that has been treated at Lurie. read more

We have been going to NAP for about 12 years now and for the most part are very pleased. Echoing JK, no practice is 100% perfect but this one comes reasonably close. When our twins were born Dr. O'Brian saw them at the hospital and for most of their visits, well and sick, until he unfortunately left. We were very happy with him as a doctor. When our 3rd baby came along he made sure we got an appointment for all one after another, which was very helpful as at the time we were told they could only book 2 appointments at a time and this holds today, which can be kind of a pain when you have 3 kids and all need well-child visits. We have seen almost all of the doctors, some better than others. Had 1 case very early on when 1 of the twins had an issue and we called the service at night. Did get a call back promptly but the doctor was less than professional in her manner. She seemed put out by the phone call and was a bit condescending. Granted our problem was not what you would normally call with after hours but this was our first baby(ies), they were only 8 weeks old or so at the time, and the baby we were calling about has a heart condition, so we were kind of nervous new parents. She could have had an off day/night so I can't say this is what she is normally like. We did have her once or twice after that and she was acceptable. Our youngest has asthma and was having a particularly hard time with a cold one evening. Called NAP up and the doctor got on the phone, heard her and told us to bring her in and they would stay open and wait. I was very happy with that as we live almost an hour away and it was already 7 pm. The nurses answer most questions over the phone unless you request to speak to a doctor and they will call you back at some point during the day, which I appreciate. I can't say the wait has every been too bad especially for a doctor's office. Never had any major issues with billing and if there is a question about the visit or a balance when we are checking out, they will just bill us once they figure out what is going on; not all practices operate that way today. The staff is polite and many have been there since we started coming. Even though we live quite a ways, we will most likely stay until the kids are ready to move onto an adult GP. read more

We have been coming to this practice for 5 years and, while we love our doctor, it can be frustrating to be at such a large practice. While the front desk employees are mostly friendly, the wait time in the office is often very long. In addition, when calling to set up an appointment or to speak to a nurse, the hold times have been upwards of 10 minutes. It can be very frustrating when having young children or babies and trying to be on hold with an office for a prolonged period of time. We have the upmost confidence in the medical staff at this office, but they obviously serve way too many patients and do not have the staffing and infastructure to handle all of the business. read more

Upon moving to the NW burbs from the city, I went here based on personal recommendations from family members who have been long time members of the practice and patients of Dr. Dobkins (whom they love!). However, my experience was awful and I have since changed to anther practice based on my bad experiences here. I will preface the review by saying that I came from a practice where the hours were great (sick hours every day and open 7 days a week), my doctor knew me and my children very well, and they were extremely accessible (I had my ped's cell phone number!) so I was looking for something similar and this just didn't fit the bill. They have very short hours and are closed every day for lunch from 12-1 which I found to be very inconvenient as there were multiple times I called during this hour only to get a recording saying they were closed until 1. They also don't have sick hours so you have to call for a same day appointment, which isn't always easy to get. When you book an appointment you are booking a time, not a doctor, so you don't necessarily see the same person every time and I found it very hard as a parent because each dr had their own philosophy and a lot of the advice I received was contradictory from appointment to appointment. I did see some of the same dr's by chance but none of them gave any hint that they remembered us. (I have been told by family members that this is very different from how it was when they started with the practice, when you always saw the same dr). All of this was inconvenient but I finally left the practice after I called to get some advice and the nurse on the line proceeded to yell at me and made me feel like a horrible mother. They also don't follow-up after sick visits to see how the child is doing (something my old practice did and I really liked). Like I said, I was looking for certain things in the practice and this didn't fit the bill for me but it might for some, so here is my breakdown: Pros - *lots of doctors in the practice *separate waiting area for sick children, well children, and teens *minimal wait time Cons - *Don't see the same staff (I had several visits to test this out) *Limited hours (closed mid-day, not open all weekend) *Judgmental atmosphere *No sick hours *Don't follow-up post sick visits read more

We have been with this practice for almost nine years, and have seen all of the doctors, and like them all. The Doctors on staff are committed to good care, and furthering education. Many of them serve on boards at NCH, and Children's. We have seen Drs. Walecki, Lawhun, Geleske, Dobkin, Anderson and Walsh-- and our son loves Dr. Peters! Walecki remains our favorite because of her calm, thoughtful approach. Our child feels most comfortable her because she understands childhood asthma from a personal perspective, and has much experience with anxiety. She has been very helpful in helping my daughter deal with anxiety issues, the stress of Anaphylaxis due to severe food allergies, my son with autism/adhd, and my youngest with food intolerances. We love the nursing staff. Our calls are promptly returned even after hours. Sick appointments have been easy to get same day, and this office has worked with our personal vaccination schedule. On the occasion that our children have been ill or injured, the staff always follows up with at least one phone call, even if they have been treated remotely. The doctors here are compassionate, kind and really listen to treat your child and his/her needs. The peace that we felt after leaving our appointment for our infant was incredible. We've been going to this practice for 3+ years, since my youngest was born. The office is super busy and we NEVER get in and out in less than one hour. On average we are there 1.5 hours. We even get the first morning appointments and the first after "dinner" appointments and the doctors are always running behind. There is always an excuse, "too many sick kids", or "another emergency," or "short staff." It's unprofessional and disorganized. They have too many patients. The reason I did not give it one star is because Dr. Dobkin and Dr. Peters are the best, and very knowledgeable. We will be changing practices. I brought a sick 15 month old child and had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seen. read more

I just wanted to say north arlington pediatrics is the best! I am a nurse, so I know about good and bad doctors. They listen and answer all of your questions, do a great job examining my kids. I think the other review is completely off the mark. Dr lawhun is great, she is gentle and a great doctor. Maybe your baby cried because sometimes that's what babies do. Un my job I have seen doctors who are super nice, but horrible doctors. I I would never take my kids anywhere else! read more

My son is now 13 months old. We have been going to this practice since he was born. Each time we have left disappointed, but continued to give them the benefit of the doubt. Our primary complaint is the rude office staff, the rude nurses and the complete lack of enthusiasm from the doctors during the actual check ups. As a new mom it is insulting to have nurses come in without acknowledging my young infant. It is very clear that us being there was inconveniencing them. We also were always waiting at least 40 minutes for the doctors to see us. I must say Dr. Dobkins is completely ridiculous. He has absolutely zero personality and doesn't make eye contact - too busy reading off of his laptop to actually realize my child is a person. I am very unhappy with those doctors. We are first time parents and with all the health issues my son has I never once got any help or explanation what to do, for example his eczema or his eye problem. My son has speech and communication delays and what did I hear again "well you should keep an eye on it" We had to ask specifically for the hearing exam and sly intervention. I am not a doctor I go to ones to get answers and recommendations on what to do. I feel like I am my own doctor with this practice. read more
