I visited Primary Care in Sugar Hill (Southeast Medical Group) for the first time. Dr. Alana Villada is highly professional and empathetic. The office staff seems committed to offering the best customer experience. I can tell they succeed at that. No issue with them. My concern relates to time spent as a new patient. I spent 25' max. with Dr. Alana Villada. I spent 25' in a direct personal exchange between me, the patient, and the said Dr. I received a bill of $308.10. I checked with my insurance. I was billed under code 99204 (New patient office visit, 45-59 minutes). I reached out to the billing team and they sent me back to the office manager. The office manager stated that any work conducted by the Physician via the portal (like uploading and posting a comment about a lab result) can be minutes aggregated to the initial visit face-to-face. I am in disagreement since I interacted with the doctor only 25'. Any work done after the face-to-face visit culminated (asynchronously, not demanding a patient's response or physical examination, online, etc.) cannot be considered an in-person visit with a licensed professional or be billed under the same care or service provided. I've been coming here for years with no issues. However, after being billed for an office visit on top of my annual exam because I expressed concern about dry mouth when I was asked if I had any additional questions, I'm extremely disappointed in this practice. I wasn't even given an answer or a heads up that a question about my physical health during a physical exam would be billed separately I wasn't even looked in the eye when she said she would order additional labs to make sure it wasn't an autoimmune disorder. 30 seconds for a question I wasn't aware didn't fall within the category of my annual exam and $140 later I'm still wondering how health professionals have gone this far downhill. They don't care about our well being, they only care about how many charges they can unknowingly bill us for until we've had enough. read more

I've had numerous disappointing experiences with Dr. Alex Kezia. She comes across as insensitive, socially distant, and makes little effort to connect. I do not feel heard or supported, and the interaction feels cold and rushed rather than patient-centered. Because of this, I do not recommend her. read more

Only leaving a three star because I believe the customer service rep named "wrench" (Sounded like it) was in the wrong. I created an account and made an appointment on the same day. I even had to contact the people more than once because of issues getting their due to own self faults. There were no issues at all prior to this conversation with anything. After realizing I was going to be late for the appointment, I decided to call again, apologize, and schedule a new appointment. However, Wrench was very adamant that my HMO Cigna coverage is not accepted. This was shocking because I was told multiple times that it was accepted but now it's not. After telling him this, he still stood by his answer and said there's nothing he can do about it. I have zero problem if Wrench is right. However, after looking at the website, it CLEARLY states that Cigna HMO is accepted. Clearly there is miscommunication between the company on some level, which has now led us to seek a different option. Nothing bad, just needs to be fixed for future customers. read more

The medical care once you get in is not bad, but there are other reasons for the low rating. It is difficult to get calls back from this office. If you leave a message requesting a call back about a medical issue and the person "assigned" to you is on vacation, it is possible that no one will call you back until the person assigned to you returns. In addition, I have received notifications from my insurance company concerning this business and whether they are still in network, and I cannot get a call back from anyone to discuss it. read more

Dr. Villada is incredibly unprofessional. She charged me for an office visit when I went in for a well-check after she started to discuss things that I did not request the appointment for. I didn't even know she had done so until I received a bill three months after my (preventative) appointment. Very disappointed. This place took my office visit and billed me as a self pay patient when I DO have insurance, and my co-pay is $30. However, I have a bill due for nearly $500 because they didn't run the office visit through my insurance. Now over A MONTH LATER I cannot get the office manager to call me back. Cannot get the billing manager, or the billing director or ANYONE for that matter to simply resubmit the claim through my insurance like they should have done the first time. I have left several voicemails. 2-3 voicemails a week for the last month, and I even went back to the office (made an hour round trip) and they still wouldn't help me. All I keep getting told is "I'll tell this person and they'll call you back". It's a lie. I have received nothing besides a reminder to pay my astronomical and incorrect bill. Not paying for their mistake. I am furious and I'm 100% certain they won't give a crap about this comment or review. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

The billing practices for this practice has changed. I have been getting things charged for services that should have not been charged or not disclosed ahead of time. I went in for a yearly physical and completed a pre check list that they gave me. One of the things was a questionnaire for anxiety/depression. I thought it was strange they were asking these questions but completed it as it was pre check list for me to be seen. The doctor during the visit did not discuss anything about it and specifically said if we discuss anything outside the physical visit it would be a separate charge. I informed the billing department and stated it was reviewed they can't waived. It's seems whoever is doing the billing is being dishonest and charging patients in hopes they would not know or dispute. This is fraud! I had another visit they tried to charge me for an ultrasound that was not performed. I was able to get that corrected. As for care from the doctor it is good but I can find the same kind of care from a different doctor who will not cause all these billing issues as this is extra stress. I will pull all my family members from this practice and will not recommend anyone to this facility. read more

Dr. Alex is fantastic. Her MA is wonderful - very personable, but professional. I was overdue for a physical, and came here as a new patient. I was able to book my appointment online, and got a text to confirm my appointment. During my appointment, Dr. Alex took a full history, made recommendations for preventative tests based on age, and family history. She ordered bloodwork, which was done on site. For things like mammograms, she provided me with a referral, and also sent an order. I was really impressed that the order was actually sent, as the other office called ME to schedule. It's very nice to feel like you have a team that communicates. Brianna (I think that's her name), called me to review lab results after a few days, and since they are available on the patient portal - I can view them anytime. Check in and check out were easy, and I felt no pressure to schedule a follow-up, since I can do it online. I don't understand negative reviews, as my experience was great. read more

I am very sorry to read some reviews. I switched from a doc I had for years and loved but when my insurance changed to Medicare so did his service. I left and decided on this place. Dr Alex is my actual Doctor but it doesn't matter who sees me I never feel rushed or like I am stupid or making up things like the last place. The doctor and staff are great at this office but only if you don't need anything. There is literally a contact center of nurses who say they will return calls and answer questions. The few times I have needed to call for a simple prescription refill, I've either never received a call back on the message left or had to wait on hold for over an hour. Do not waste your time with this office. They do not care about their patients and are more worried about moving to the next person than they are about you. Can never get a returned call in a timely fashion even if message is left in am. It is almost impossible to reach anyone to answer any questions and the people who set appointments are and have frequently been very rude. Not being able to have any of my questions answered or being able to reach someone is not ok in my medical provider. Will find another. read more

Have been going to this office for over 10 years for annual physicals and love Dr. Hughes. Saw another doctor on my last annual physical and was not happy with the outcome. I did nothing different than on all previous physicals but this time was billed for an office visit on top of all the charges for the annual physical. I was also billed for a shingles vaccine (~$400) that I did not receive. I have been trying to get an answer out of the office manager and billing department why I was charge an additional office visit for months to no avail. I was told I could come back in and get the vaccine I was supposed to have received and was billed for on my last visit, but will probably be billed for another office visit. Now I am receiving letters threatening to turn my account over to a credit collection agency for not paying the bill for an office visit. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Hughes for months. At first she was great & the practice was great, but services quickly declined. I have been very sick for over two weeks & was turned away by this doctor twice in an urgent time of need. Their communication SUCKS and they take forever to get back to you about lab work, medication refills, etc. Also, their online portal is useless as they don't even seem to use it. I moved to Georgia about 2 years ago and my husband and I have been seeing Dr. Nikki. She is a very caring and professional doctor, she takes time and explains everything to you. I recommended her to a couple of friends and they were very happy with her services as well. I'm currently a patient with this practice but will be looking elsewhere. Just like one of the posting stated, no one will return your call even if you leave the message early in the morning. I left two messages asking to get my prescription refilled but my pharmacy still have not received any instruction and I'm out of my prescription tomorrow. Horrible phone system and you will get a chance to talk to a live person only if you choose to set an appointment. All other options are useless. Bad services and bad lab assistant also. Will leave a big bruising mark on your arm after she draws your blood. Stay away. read more
