Prior to coming onsite, I was in contact with my sales agent online. I had very particular needs and was looking for a specific type of vehicle. Denise Weaver was very diligent in providing me specs on vehicles in stock as well as in transit to the dealership. Yes, we should expect this since this is their job being sales agents but Denise went above and beyond for me. She was patient and made the car buying process go smoothly. Due to many customers purchasing this day, it took a bit to get through the financing due to others ahead of me. Denise made sure to walk over her manager to apologize to us for a longer than usual wait time. The dealership is huge and has a very nice layout. Sales had their own cubicles that provided enough privacy between customers. The showroom was huge and clean. The sales and store was well placed and stocked. Jose was the Finance manager who completed the paperwork with us. He was also polite and this dealers electronic signature pad really made the fine print in most contracts, well easy to read. Classic Bait and Switch Tactics -- Proceed with Caution After negotiating a deal and reaching an agreement that included specific add-ons, the dealership completely reversed course after I made my deposit. I made a fair cash offer based on my savings -- they declined, which I understood. They countered with a higher price, but offered to include the following at no extra cost: * Free window tint * Full tank of gas with a 5-star detail and ceramic paint coating * Free maintenance package extension This was confirmed to me in writing, and I accepted the offer -- even agreeing to a vehicle in a different color than I originally wanted. I then came in to place the deposit, knowing the vehicle wouldn't be available until mid-July. The moment the transaction was processed, I was informed that those promised add-ons were no longer included. Fortunately, I kept the email with the written offer, because this experience raises serious concerns -- potentially even a UDAAP (Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices) violation. This is why I prefer to have communication in writing! Will definitely be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General's office. Called to see if I could bring in my Toyota Tacoma is for a transmission service I didn't have a appointment. I was planning a trip and wanted to get it serviced asap. I drove out to NBT and was met by Tony a service writer. Tony said he could get it done today. He visually inspected my truck took some pictures before we went to his office. Tony was extremely good at his job, we covered the proposed work,cost and when it should be completed. He offered me drive home with Uber I was back home in 35 minutes. When the job is done.Tony will call and send a Uber to pick me up. I was called back by Tony my truck was done and picked up by Uber again. My price was adjusted with a coupon that helped too. Beware when you go the buy a used vehicle from these folks - Purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse from them - granted I purchased it "as is" but two days later noticed that turn signals were blinking quicker than they should - found that right front bulb was not working ( burned out) which I understand could have "just happened" but when checking left front , saw that there was not even a bulb in the socket. Purchased vehicle with stipulation that two items would be repaired as part of purchase agreement - after three attempts to have repairs done - I finally did them myself. Now, after 2/3 months, I have had to have all 4 motor mounts replaced, transmission rebuilt due to bad clutches ( only became prevalent after vehicle got up to normal operating temperature for a period of time. During test drive - did not go far enough to reach temperature needed to exhibit problem). Latest discovery was leaking A/C hose. Was told by repair shop that motor mounts & leak had been there for some time and that transmission was "iffy" Advice- have vehicle checked by repair shop you trust before you purchase. Accepted our written offer, then sold the car to a wholesaler.I am incredibly frustrated with North Bakersfield Toyota, specifically Johnny and Amir. After negotiating an out-the-door price of $23,500, they officially accepted our offer in writing.Because we were driving in from out of town, we emailed them to schedule our inspection for Saturday, July 25th. We requested the signed Buyer's Order required by our bank to finalize the loan check, along with vehicle history and key confirmations.Instead of honoring their agreement, they sold the car to a wholesaler right after accepting our offer.When we confronted them about this unethical move, we asked them to either retrieve the car or find a similar vehicle to make it right. The initial sell went great. After sales is where I've now had issues with this dealership on 2 deals in 5 years. Both times they took a significant amount of time to request the 10 day payoff from my lender. This time I bought the vehicle on 10/18 and they did not call for a 10 day payoff until 10/29 according to my lender. With payment due on 10/27 they had ample time to payoff the loan before my payment came due but chose to delay the process 11 calendar days (8 business days). read more

This review is specific to the service and parts department, but this dealership will never get any business from myself or my family ever again. This place is dishonest, a rip off, and is only out to take your money. My elderly mother was having issues with her steering and took her car to North Bakersfield Toyota. After having the car 2-3 days and multiple mechanics looking at it they finally determined the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. They charged over $3000 parts and labor which is extremely high for the work performed. The alignment was still out, so they told her the tires needed to be replaced. She declined and took it to the tire shop she has the tires warrantied through. They inspected the tires and said they did not need to be replaced. They did a free tire rotation and balance which resolved the issue. How many people only needed tires to be rotated and balanced but North Bakersfield Toyota told them they needed new tires? Toyota also told her her battery was bad and needed to be replaced. She declined because the battery is under warranty from A1 battery in Bakersfield. She took it to them to have it inspected, and there is nothing wrong with her battery. How many people have North Bakersfield Toyota sold a new battery to that didn't need one? She was told the hood support lift strut was bad and needed to be replaced. She was quoted $558 to replace it. She declined. The strut definitely needed to be replaced. I bought one at an auto parts store for $30 and replaced it in less than 10 minutes with basic hand tools. $558 for parts and labor is a complete rip off even with getting an OEM strut. North Bakersfield Toyota was taking advantage of an elderly woman telling her she needed things that she didn't need. Over charging for some repairs. read more

I'm leaving this review to share our experience today (07/25/25) with what was described as a "first-come, first-served" vehicle sale at this dealership. Unlike them, I'm going to provide all the information here so others can make a fully informed decision. We spoke with a sales rep named Oscar, who clearly told us that to secure the vehicle, we needed to be the first in line and that no paperwork could be completed in advance. Based on that, we arrived early and waited on the dealership's private property, well before opening. Others were present but remained offsite on public property. Despite following all instructions exactly and being first on the premises, we were told someone else would be getting the vehicle. When we brought our concerns to the sales manager, Zach, he acknowledged that there are "gray areas" in the process, and that even he wasn't clear on how it was supposed to work. To make matters worse, Oscar never showed up to speak with us, even though he had been texting us the day before to say he would be there to handle the deal in person. He gave us the original instructions and then completely disappeared during the process. They eventually offered to show us another vehicle listed in the same sales flyer. At first, they said it would take about an hour to prepare, but later told us it wouldn't be available until after lunch. By that point, our confidence in the dealership had already been seriously diminished. It was at that point we decided to leave. My husband and I had taken separate vehicles that morning, he arrived first to secure our spot in line while I parked elsewhere. After I left the dealership, they stopped my husband and offered to fill his gas tank as a goodwill gesture. While we appreciated the offer, he politely declined. He called to see if I was still interested, but I had already made up my mind. I was mentally done and no longer felt comfortable accepting anything from them. This was especially disappointing because we've purchased a vehicle from this dealership before and returned based on that prior positive experience. Unfortunately, this time was very different. The fact that the dealership couldn't clearly communicate or enforce a consistent process across the board left us extremely frustrated. We followed the guidance we were given in good faith, but ultimately, it felt like that didn't matter. Because of this lack of clarity and consistency, I no longer feel comfortable purchasing a vehicle from this dealership. After 3 months of dealing with private mechanics, I finally decided to take my car to the dealership. I spoke with Laura who went above and beyond to help me out. She called the original mechanic and went to bat for me. She even informed me that I could file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive against the original mechanic who damaged my car. Service desk workers are short and rude, and their manager doesn't know how /will not prioritize scheduled appointments. My buying process was also very unprofessional. We agreed upon a price and they forgot to include the tax/registration fees in that price, and tried to flip that on me. Despite some communication issues and a weeklong process of getting the car ready, the interest rate and terms were the best I could find. So while first impressions are a lasting impression, it was not the salesperson's (Peter) fault for the delay in being able to take possession of the vehicle. You can drive 1-2 hours away from Bakersfield to get excellent customer service and much better prices. I tried giving Bakersfield my business and was reminded why I drive out of town for big purchases. I communicated with a salesperson about the details of the car I wanted. I processed my credit online to prove my credibility (Tier 1 credit). After my credit proved worthy, I set an appointment to test-drive cars the following day. I did this in phases on purpose so I could test-drive cars without pressure. When I arrived at my appointment to test-drive vehicles, I told the salesman about the cars I was interested in and wanted to drive. He said okay and took me straight into an office, where Greg immediately tried to crunch numbers. After 15 minutes of Greg typing, I explained that I had just come to test drive. After telling the salesman which cars we wanted to drive again, he walked my son and me out into the back service area where a bunch of cars were lined up for service. He showed us a similar vehicle of interest. I had to ask for a key, it was raining, and he left my son and me in the rain while he retrieved the key, which was initially "fine," not the biggest of deals. So, when he came back, we sat in the car. We got out and asked about another vehicle, he left us in the rain again, except this time, upon his return, he brought out an umbrella, but it was for himself. He did not offer any coverage to me or my son. I understand the rain, but no customer service was offered during this transaction. After my son and I were left in the rain to wait for keys that belonged to cars we could only sit in and not drive, we were over it. I told the guy I didn't want to go over any numbers with my son there and that I would return with my husband. Right after, he took me back into Greg's office to be sold, with my son there, which I just stated I didn't want. After Greg would not listen to me and kept trying to "sell" me, I had to get up and walk out of his office because he just wouldn't stop talking over me. As I got up to leave the office, Greg's intense directional demand of, "STOP" as I walked out caught me by surprise, in addition to aggravating my son. He's not used to seeing other men speak to me like that, and it's unfortunate I even have to write about this within this review. I used to be in sales and understand sales tactics, but this whole experience was another level--and not in a good way. This has been my worst car-search experience yet. North Toyota Bakersfield has lost our business forever. There are too many great dealerships around and fantastic salespeople to have an experience like this. I started working with Kyle Wolfe May 2022, it started with placing a deposit to get on a list for a Tundra TRD Pro but as the time passed I switched over to the Sequoia TRD Pro as it fitted the needs better. I received updates monthly at the longest with Kyle letting me know he was still on the hunt for one. I looked around, both locally at the other Toyota dealership and outside of Kern County but none of them was up front about what they knew and if or how long their lists of waiting customers was. The first glimpse arrived late December, early January from Kyle that the Sequoia TRD Pro would start being built January 28th and the anticipation grew by ten fold. I finally received the spec sheet on what color it would be out and in, what amenities it would have and in February I heard it was finished and in transit. The wait was definitely worth it but at the same time nerve wrecking since I never waited this long for a vehicle and one like the Sequoia TRD Pro. The day was here, I received the picture of it on the trailer about to be offloaded at North Bakersfield Toyota and next thing I realize, were signing the documents with finance. In the past 20+ years of purchasing vehicles, not one salesman really stood out for straight forward communication and providing a reliable source of that communication. Kyle was top tier in customer service up to the end when handing me the keys and shaking my hand for my purchase. It is now 11:11 and I asked for an update (told them both in the appointment and in the check in I was waiting for the vehicle). The service technician came out to tell me my vehicle is next in line should take about 30 mins. I asked what was the point in an appointment and he responded, "gives you priority over walk ins". I stated I wished they had told me they were that far behind as I would have gone home and not sat here for 2 hours. He basically said they don't always know what's going on in the back with the mechanics. The sales person was persistent enough. that we didn't really have any idea of what exactly we "weren't " getting with this 2024 Nissan rogue. it's probably the lowest class model they made. Seats arent electric, no fuel A/C (which is very important, I'm hot and he's cold) no heated seats, only type C charging ports( just 2) no ports for charging in the back for passengers. it's a 3 cylinder..Not good on gas! We have already paid in full. And have yet to receive ANY paperwork. The salesman promised a few things. which EVERYTIME we called he wasn't in or hasn't answered. I'm beyond disappointed. They took advantage of us. My significant other just got out of UCLA where he almost died. He has a chest tube and a feeding tube still in. They seen us coming and took full advantage. I've waited a few weeks to write this review to give myself some time to get initial reactions out of my mind. My partner and I have been long time customers of Toyota. We have built relationships based on the brand, reliability and service we have received throughout the years. Our most recent vehicle lease was ending and we decided we would purchase the next vehicle. Although we have been loyal customers of a different Toyota dealership in our area, their low stock of vehicles had us looking elsewhere. We were interested in a RAV4 Prime so we found a listing at North Bakersfield Toyota (NBT) and gave them a call. I spoke to Joseph and we set up a time to meet to test drive the vehicle. Joseph was kind and attentive to our needs. We informed him we were very interested in the vehicle they had on hand except it was not the color for us. Joseph made some calls and arranged for a "dealer trade" in which NBT would trade another dealer for the car we were looking for. The plan was Joseph would pick up the "trade" car which was about 2 hour drive away. We made the deal, and were told we would finish most of the financing that day. We would be giving the down payment and sign a final paper the day we were to receive the car. Things were looking good! Then came financing. After an arduous wait (assuming short staffing due to covid) we went to see Ricardo in financing. We had already done some research so we knew we were not going to be purchasing GAP insurance (we were putting a 36% down payment) and were not going to be purchasing an extended warranty. The first half of the signing went smoothly, then came GAP. No thanks. How about extended warranty at $6000? NO thanks. Ricardo then "checked to see if he can discount it" came back with a $2000 or so cost. We still said no. He then proceeded to leave the office to ask his Manager something. He came back and said they would give it to us at "no cost, part of a Toyota loyalty bonus." We were not aware of such thing so, I kept asking him where exactly this "bonus" was coming from. He insisted it was coming from Toyota and that they (NBT) would get the bonus whether we got the "free" extended warranty or not. We simply had to sign "yes" we wanted it. We spoke in circles for several minutes. I know nothing in life is free. I wanted to know where or how they magically came up with free money so they could give us a warranty at no additional cost. He left the office several more times and I eventually noticed there was a sticker on the door that said "EV" (or electric vehicles-which the RAV4 prime is considered) currently have a $1500 rebate. I asked about it and that's when he finally admitted that is where the bonus was coming from. This INFURIATED me and I was moments from walking out of this whole deal. My partner calmed me down. We said NO thanks to the "bonus to pay for extended warranty" and to please give us our $1500 rebate which effectively reduced the vehicle's cost by that amount. I can't believe I was going to be SCAMMED into paying for my own extended warranty that I didn't want in the first place, let alone, pay for it with a bonus that we were entitled to because we were purchasing an "EV". We quickly finished up the paperwork. I left that place with a headache. A few days later, Joseph picked up our car from the other dealership. We were ready to pick it up. We submitted our cashier's check for the down payment and the keys to our trade-in. A few weeks later there was a hiccup with one of the wheels which NBT took care of. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how Ricardo tried to pull that shady scam on us, and how many others have fallen for it??? That was more than enough for me to give it the lowest rating of 1-star. read more

DISCEPTIVE! BEWARE! (Wish I could give NEGATIVE stars) We live near the LA/Ventura border. We inquired about a used car, Escape Titanium 2019. We asked a million questions. Looked at photos and decided to buy if everything looked good -- and asked if there were any collisions or door dinks. They said CarFax did not show anything. Here is where the disceptation comes in. . . After driving 2 hours to the Toyota dealership in North Bakersfield we found a major body part misalignment in 5 minutes (front right bumper)!!!! The "bad body" work revealed it. One edge of the panel was sticking out beyond the other panel(s). You could run your palm over the area and your hand would hit the part jutting out. There were ALSO some seams of the car panels that were butt up against each other. ALL POINTING TO A COLLISION - whether disclosed by the previous buyer or not. THEY KNEW IT and that equates to a LIE. Omission is a lie. They said it went thru a 200 point inspection and that everything was fine. Wow -- that just shows that their 200 (or whatever number) point inspection either was not done or whoever is doing it is inept -- or they decided to hide the knowledge of the bad post collision bodywork from the internet ad, CarFax and potential buyers. They tried to offer us to do the bodywork post purchase and we were like "what?????" No. ---- We know that if someone can tell a lie or hide a truth, they can tell many lies and/or hide many truths. There might be MORE they knew and decided to hide the info. --------------------------------------- We asked, "is there a local ford dealer". They said "yes" We said can we take it to them for a full inspection and if they say everything is good and that we can buy an extended warranty from there -- we will more than consider to buy it. Here's the kicker --- they said no - it cannot leave the lot unless you buy it. Such a scam. We are older so we know not to be so desperate that we would regret it later. We've been down that road many times before. So if you are young -- or a young family, please be wise and also say "no". ---------------------------------------- OVERALL: Awful, awful sales tactics and we drove 250 miles round-trip up the 5 freeway in bad traffic on our workday, spending A LOT on gas and personal time & work time. TWO WORDS: CUSTOMER ABUSE I didn't think bait and switch or bait and abuse was still alive and well -- especially at a Toyota dealership, but it is. I don't know how these people sleep at night running a scam or scams in regard to the used cars on their lot.
