My appointment was at 10:45 a.m. I was charged $73.26 for a simple oil change. I understand the dealer usually is a higher price, but it took from 10:45 to 1:00 to do a simple oil change. On Saturday, November 8th, I visited Bakersfield Hyundai to look at the new 2026 Palisade. I was referred by my neighbors, Henry and Shelly Castaneda, who purchased a 2024 Palisade from you a couple years ago. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly salesperson then welcomed with genuine warmth by Kris Craig and Jose Galvan. Their friendliness, eye contact, and sincerity made me feel like family. I test drove the Palisade and loved it, but what truly stood out was how I was treated throughout the entire process. Kris worked the numbers, and to my surprise, there was no need to negotiate, everything was straightforward, honest, and more than fair. So we went car shopping on a Saturday. It was a pleasant experience. My daughter did need a co signer. She didn't need to put any money down and was able to drive off the lot with her dream car. So the following Monday comes, and someone calls our daughter saying her loan didn't go through without a down payment. So they want her to return to Hyundai and put a down payment, and have the contract rewritten. My husband was furious. He was upset because he felt lied to, lied to by the salesman Sultan and lied to by the finance manager Beatriz since we were told our daughter didn't have to put anything down and we already had our contract that says we didn't put anything down. So my husband and daughter had to return and redo everything since Saturday meant nothing. My husband and I have never had a bad experience with a car dealership before. Brought my 25 Palisade in for a courtesy oil change on 08/11/2026, had an appointment for 9:45. I spoke with David Clark, a service advisor who took care of me right away. He was courteous and friendly and had me checked in within a few minutes. The oil change/tire rotation and inspection took a little over 2 hours which is very reasonable. I know they did an inspection because they noted that the cabin filter cover had a broken clip, which I knew about because I broke it when I changed the cabin filter a few weeks ago. I also had a list of 9 questions about the car due to my having been on the Palisades owners forum. David was happy to answer my questions, took his time with me and in my opinion answered all my questions truthfully based on my research. I was expecting to get some BS answers, and was quite pleased to receive the answers and explanations David gave me to my questions. It was nice to not be blown off as some advisors do and to have all my questions and concerns addressed. David is a great ambassador for Bakersfield Hyundai and the service department. read more

It was advertised online at $50,879, but they quoted me $55,879 before tax -- a $5,000 markup with no explanation. The out-the-door price they gave me was $61,331.78. VIN: KM8R74GEXSU906692 They did the same thing with a 2025 Palisade SEL Premium FWD -- listed online for $43,705, but quoted at $48,705 before tax, with an OTD total of $53,519.93. VIN: KM8R44GE0SU934509 This isn't a misunderstanding -- it's deliberate bait-and-switch pricing. They show one price online and give you a much higher one in person, before taxes or legit fees are even added. They also copied my driver's license without my consent and asked for my full address just to give a quote. On top of that, the Calligraphy I came to see wasn't even there -- the manager had taken it home for the weekend, yet they were still advertising it as "new." Completely unethical. I walked out and will never return. Double-check VINs, trims, and pricing if you even consider doing business here. Update (Aug 6, 2025): Your response is just a generic copy-and-paste that completely ignores the serious issues I raised in my original review. You didn't address the $5,000 bait-and-switch markup on the 2025 Palisade Calligraphy -- or the fact that the same thing happened with the SEL Premium trim. You also didn't explain why my driver's license was copied without my consent, or why you asked for my full address just to give a quote. I wanted to share my recent experience because it was really disappointing. I took my car in for a routine oil change. My husband dropped it off, and when I went to pick it up, I noticed a white mark and dent under the gas tank that wasn't there before. I brought it to Christian's attention, and when he looked at the before-service photos, he said there was a glare, so nothing showed up. He offered a detail to remove the white mark, which was taken care of, but the dent remained. When I came to pick up my car, he didn't greet me -- the first thing he said was, "Your car has a lot of scratches," which felt unnecessary and dismissive. Christian tries to gaslight you and is very rude with no customer service skills. I pointed out the dent again, but he refused to take any responsibility and insisted it must have already been there. I also asked to speak to the supervisor, who wasn't in, and was told to talk to the sales supervisor. That conversation went nowhere. He looked at me like I was bothering him, made a copy of my paperwork, and promised to follow up -- it's been over a month, and I've heard nothing back. Additionally, there was no proper handoff when I went to pick up my car. Normally, they bring the car to the front with your keys ready, but this time, they left it in the back for me to go get myself. How is that even safe, especially when you're trusting a business with your vehicle? It added to the already disappointing experience and made me feel like my concerns weren't being taken seriously. Mind you I had an appointment set at 11:15, and yet we still waited 5 HOURS!!!! and the location of my vehicle on bluelink showed it was sitting in the back the WHOLE TIME!! Come to find out, it was a written contract that I had to take the car if he got the monthly payment lower. Seems to me that the initial sales person " greeter " if you will starts talking shows you a couple of vehicles and before you even had time to examine the vehicles the pressure sales pitch starts to emerge. If the " greeter can't get you into the sales office fast enough the " manager " appears out of no where . I had some concerns regarding a type vehicle I wanted and was denied a test drive by the manager because I would not be led into a sales office to " commit " to buying a vehicle that I had not test drove nor examined to see if the vehicle was right fit for me. I bought my 2018 Sonata a couple of years ago and paid 22k cash. It has paint chipping everywhere and engine is a nightmare in-fact it is not starting right now. I also paid cash for an extended warranty (I was newly divorced and on my own and wanted to feel protected) The first month I had my sonata it died twice at a gas station and I had to call Hyundai to be put on hold for half an hour or more just to end up right back at the receptionist who had no clue what was happening and just doing their best (I suppose) to try and get a person to pick up the call. Car had to be towed and fixed twice in one month and now it just is dead and engine light is on and I literally baby this car and only drive it around town. I tried to call Hyundai this last week and once again was put on hold. It was the twilight zone like it always has been (by the way it's not Hyundai brand in and of itself. It's specifically Bakersfield Hyundai and the way they manage that office. It is a joke and it's very frustrating. They market right now that they've redone their office or this and that and they've got coffee and water and I'm sitting there thinking who gives a rats ass about that stuff people just want their car taken care of and to have decent customer service. I mean, I know I got ripped off I get it. I do not recommend this dealership for sales/finance purposes. We have had pleasant and smooth interactions with service (left several 5 star reviews to them) and I wish it were that way all around. We cancelled our GAP and Extended warranty in DEC 24 and then JAN 24. I gave ample time to let the refund process take its place but now three months later and nothing. We called the first week of FEB and were told that the two checks had been issued and now we just had to wait longer. Follow up a month later in March this week and no calls back from dealer although several were promised. No one was ever available and when they are they don't have answers unless they lie. My husband walks into the sales floor Thursday to handle it and they promise another call back that day. 24 hours later and nothing. He calls and waits, no call back. Goes to the dealership AGAIN on Friday and is told they cut the checks YESTERDAY. The salesmen made zero effort to help me get the drive train I wanted, then later on when I decided on something else the negotiations were so poor that it was extremely rude. They started with offering me the vehicle at 4k over MSRP... this isn't Covid anymore.. then when they found out I had a trade in valued at 13K they tried offering me the same vehicle but with an additional 13k tacked on to the price tag? ... they wanted my to pay 17K over MSRP insane... I gladly went out of town to buy my new car at a deal wayyy below MSRP. I would have left this at a 1 star review but I just had my car serviced for the first time at this location and I was happy with the service side of things. Did not communicate quote for alternator replacement, charged $950 for the alternator alone. This is after the engine blew out @ 125k miles, which was covered due to a recall(not a minor recall). I would rather crawl on the ground after having my limbs amputated than ever get another Hyundai vehicle. The warranty will not make up for any inconvenience you will incur from the multiple issues that will likely arise. Please do the world a favor and buy anything other than a Hyundai, and definitely stay away from the service department. I went in first my first service and while I was actively with a service associate this sales guy came and started asking me what my monthly payments are. Well just a week later I had to take the car back in because they just received my car part for a recall. While waiting for my car I get a call from someone named Joel claiming to be from service asking about my experience in service. I say it's good just waiting for my car. I took my IONIQ6 for 30,000 mile factory maintenance. It was not busy compared to my three previous visits. It took 2 and half hours. Checked in at 10:28 AM and completed at 1:04 PM. I was tracking status but it wasn't progressing any until 12:15 PM. So I went to the service desk to see if anything was wrong. The service adviser was a guy named Cameron Reynish. First he said that it takes longer because I didn't have an appointment (my appointment was 10:30 AM). Then he said the technicians are out for lunch (when is their lunch break?). I waited almost 2 hours already so I just wanted my car back. He went to garage and came back saying it's on the lift and will be done in 30 minutes. The job was completed at 1:02 PM. When I signed the release paper, I asked what went wrong. He replied nothing went wrong, even simple oil change takes long at the dealership when it's busy (It wasn't busy at all, it took 90 sh minutes during busier time and with more things done on my 3 previous visits. Unlike gasoline cars, servicing EV doesn't take long). In conclusion, the service began around 12:20 PM. Almost 2 hours later my check in. This pathetic rude guy Cameron R talked nonsense excuses (appointment, lunch, busy). Full of lies. Very disappointed. read more

I bought a new 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid from this dealership in November for my wife. She absolutely loves the car. Its been a great car for us overall. The dealership (more specifically the service center) has not been great, at all. The big issue is something that happened today. The car has about 6500 miles on it now. We were getting the car washed about a week ago and the detail crew pointed out that there was some issues with the paint. I noticed a small flap on the hood look like it was pealing from the edge. I went home, called Hyundai Corporate and asked them what I can do about it. They asked for all my info, like vin and so on, and upon giving them the info they informed me that my vehicle had a 3 year, 36000 mile paint warranty and they would cover the repairs. Fantastic! I submitted some pictures they asked for, worked out the details, and they approved the repair. They set an appointment up for me at this dealership to have the repairs completed. Mind you this was about a week long process of going through their corporate channels to get the manufacture itself to approve things. They gave me a reference number and email confirmation to show to the dealership once we arrive for our appointment so they could start the repairs. The dealership declined to do the repairs. When I arrived at the dealership, I spoke with one of the service advisors. I told him we had an appointment set up through Hyundai. He was able to find the appointment after a few minuets of searching and asked why I brought the car in. I told him the situation, explained how the paint was pealing at the edge of the hood and told him I had spoke with Hyundai corp. about the issue, that they had approved the repairs and gave me a reference number to give him. He said the reference number was not important, stating that they would do their own checks and submit their own pictures and such. He explained it would take a few weeks for this process. I explained I had already did that, because I understood it would take time for this process, that was why I had already contacted the manufacture, to find out if it was covered and speed up the process a bit. He then seemed to brush off my statement, saying that he still had to do it this way, and that it my previous approval was irrelevant. I was a bit upset with this, but held my tongue. Maybe they just needed to get a different kind of approval? At this point, the service advisor started to complain that they didn't do paint repairs and that they would have to find an approved body shop, and negotiate things, then send the car to that body shop. He said it would take a few days or maybe even a week for this process when my wife asked for a general idea of what we would be looking at. I said that was fine, I understood paint takes time. He seemed like he was disappointed that we didn't just leave at that point. He kept saying things like "if you want, you guys can come back at another time after I find out what Hyundai wants to do." At this point I said we already did that and Hyundai ALREADY APPROVED it. I had the reference number in my hand. He never asked for or let me give him that number. Every time I tried, he would cut me off or not respond. He then said he needed to take his own pictures. So we followed him out to the car, in which he took a picture of the hood from a distance and walked back inside. He didn't get any vehicle information that is usually required for warranty work, like vin, miles or anything else. I asked him if he needed the info, knowing that he does from my own experience working at dealerships in the same position, and he said he didn't need it for this. We went back in and he asked me if we wanted to leave, again, and I said we could hang out for a bit and see if Hyundai will get back to him, considering they had already approved the work. An hour goes by and he said they hadn't responded yet, but I was out of time as my wife needed to go to work. I told him we would have to leave soon. He then says that Hyundai declined it. He asked if I wanted to speak with the manager, I said yes. He "called" him but after another half hour of waiting, he never shows up. I went to my car and called Hyundai corp and they said it was approved already. Apparently this dealership simply doesn't want to do warranty work and will label things outside of warranty to avoid it. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to leave. Hyundai (the manufacture not this place) said they would issue an official complaint and reprimand against this dealership and will honor the warranty at a different dealership of my choosing. Save your time, go somewhere else. This place wants to give you the run around and waste your time. read more

Part not in stock, never ordered. Was told the system they have is when you call for appt they do not check to see if part is in stock they just book appt. Trying to buy a car from Bakersfield Hyundai was incredibly frustrating. Despite a terrible experience with their sales team, I hadn't planned to write a review. However, they keep contacting me despite my requests to stop, so maybe a public review will finally make them listen. After doing a ton of research and test driving at another location while traveling for work, I had my heart set on an Ioniq 5 SUV. Now, for over a decade, I've only had Audis and I am used to the Audi sales model, which is generally pretty straight forward and without all of the nonsensical and frustrating tactics that you encounter when trying to buy a car sometimes. Because of this, my first step was to email Bakersfield Hyundai and I did my best to be clear about my expectations- I knew exactly what I wanted, I had it priced out on their website exactly how I wanted it, and I was ready and willing to either lease, finance, or buy cash outright (depending on what option made the most sense and could get us the best deal). I also had a trade in that I wanted to unload and included the VIN, mileage, etc. I emphasized the desire for an easy process and how above all, I didn't want to waste my time, hoping to finalize details in advance and simply complete the transaction upon arrival. It should have been the simplest sale imaginable. After some back and forth, the sales agent urged me to come down, assuring me of plenty of Ioniq 5s on the lot. Skeptical without final numbers, I reluctantly agreed. Upon arrival, I inquired about the Ioniq 5s and was directed to the far end of the lot. Despite rows of Ioniq 6s, there was no sign of the SUV. Returning to the showroom, I was told to wait for the internet salesperson. After a 10-minute wait, another salesperson took over. He informed me they only had one Ioniq 5 in stock--a 2023 model, not the 2024 I wanted. He was insisting on a test drive before discussing numbers, despite my reluctance, he cited company policy. I then had to spend an awkward 10 minutes test driving a car I already knew I wanted, enduring unnecessary sales questions. By this point, I had spent well over an hour at the dealership. Upon returning, I was escorted to a small glass-walled sales room, where the negotiation commenced. The salesperson rushed off to consult with a manager, leaving me waiting for 10 minutes. Upon their return, the offered numbers were wildly different from the online listings. This pattern repeated, with multiple salespeople assuring me each time that the latest offer was final--until it wasn't. This circus lasted another hour. Unbeknownst to the sales team, I had a clear line of sight (thanks to the glass walls) of their antics while supposedly consulting with the manager. Despite them pretending seriousness, I witnessed them laughing, standing around, and even playing on their phones, sharing videos. It was evident they were employing a transparently manipulative and slimy sales tactic, attempting to build tension and pressure through fake delays. More infuriatingly, when I pointed out the discrepancy between the advertised and offered prices, one of them (I can't recall who) chuckled and dismissed it, claiming the online prices were just to get you in the door. I called it what it was: bait and switch. Immediately, he backtracked, citing various factors affecting pricing. As someone experienced in buying cars, I knew this was neither typical nor legal. They also refused to even give a ball park on my trade in without doing a full inspection that they said would take an hour (despite them having a VIN and me saying I just wanted an estimate). Needless to say, I ended up walking after spending several hours at the dealership. I had my heart set on an Ioniq 5, but I wasn't going to get jerked around by these folks like this. Worse yet, if this is how they act (and misrepresent) when making a sale, how were they going to be when I had to come in for service later on? In the end, I bought an SUV from Honda that took a couple of emails and under 30 minutes at the dealer to sign paperwork. They had already given me a ball park estimate on the trade in via email and they honored the high end of that estimate when they looked at the car. It was easy, transparent, and honest. But the reason I'm writing to you about this today is that now, three months later, these folks keep trying to sell me a car. Every single time, I've grown increasingly frustrated with the folks reaching out to me, explaining my bad experience, telling them I bought a car elsewhere, and asking them to remove me from their list. This morning, they called me at work to ask AGAIN about my trade in and I once again told them to remove me from their list. You can do business with whoever you want, but this process has guaranteed I will never, ever purchase a Hyundai ever, but especially from Bakersfield Hyundai. Adrienne (service advisor) was perfect! She was a total professional and made sure that I received prompt and courteous service! I took my Elantra in for warranty work (didn't pay for a thing) but still received excellent customer service. Adrienne was polite and assisted me in getting an Uber so that I could get errands done instead of just waiting. Even the salesman and mechanic checked in on me while I was strolling around the dealership killing time (let me know where I could get drinks and snacks). I was treated with the utmost respect here. Last week my wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. We were looking to replace a Santa Fe we purchased from this dealership back in 2017. We originally started working with Fabiola on our first visit. This was going to be my wife's car and Fabiola took the time to show my wife many vehicles, explain the features, and test drive a couple vehicles. The following weekend we returned to look some more, and were greeted and assisted by a nice young man by the name of Gilbert. Gilbert was just as patient and thorough as Fabiola and again made my wife feel comfortable during the entire process. Long story short, we got the Palisade. negative or zero rating for this deceiving place. Very bad business practices and deceiving staff. They tricked me with the deal when i trade my car with their car. I agreed with the sales man on the deal to finance the car on 72 months (6years) and then when i met with the financial manager to sign the contract she do the finance on 7 years instead and unfortunately I didn't see that and i signed the contract!!! Tricky and deceiving people over there I don't recommend this place for anyone. very very bad reputation bad place don't go over there for your sake !!!!! read more
