North Bay Marina apparently either doesn't know or care about the "service" piece of customer service. We found a used pontoon boat they were selling and immediately agreed to pay cash for their asking price. Scott was our salesman. Once the weather cooperated the sea trial with Ray (I believe that was his name) went very well a week later. It turned out the used boat we bought was being brokered by North Bay Marina. They are located in Delaware - I live in Maryland. I asked Scott to ensure I could register the boat in Maryland after the purchase, which he ensured I could. Took possession of the boat and shortly thereafter went to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to register it and pay the sales tax. DNR advised North Bay Marine completed the paperwork wrong as a broker and denied me. By happenstance I ran into DJ (an employee of North Bay Marina) at a store and informed him DNR had denied me to register the boat. DJ's response was DNR doesn't know what they are doing. I thought his response was so nonchalant to me, that it was rude and very off-putting. Finally Scott redid the paperwork the proper way and I was able to return to DNR and register the boat in Maryland properl I returned to North Bay Marina today to pick up my owner's bag the previous owner had dropped off. DJ walked in seeing me standing in the showroom (no one was there, so I was waiting for assistance) and didn't acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. I had to speak up and say I was there to pick up the owners bag. He asked if I had looked in Scott's office (the door was closed). He then went into Scott's office, retrieved the bag and handed it to me with a look of disgust. Very unprofessional on DJ's part in my opinion. So based on Scott's lack of knowledge of selling a boat to a Maryland resident and DJ's attitude - I would not recommend North Bay Marina. read more

After doing a sea trail on a used Tidewater and a mechanical inspection done we found $6,400 worth of repairs needed. Even the trailer brake calipers were off and tapped to the trailer frame. They told me just to remove them you don't need the brakes. SMH, I submitted an offer with the list and cost for repairs and they refused to submit my offer to the seller.And that's only half of the bad experience .I did receive my deposit back however they were very rude and by not submitting all offers to their seller is very unethical and this would have been our 2nd boat that we bought from them. Bought my pontoon 3/17. One week in the water the starboard pontoon took on water. North Bay took their time to repair and they were supposed to change the pontoon in the off season. I dropped the pontoon Easter weekend. They changed service department management and my boat got lost in the shuffle I called a couple of weeks later they did not have any idea were my boat and trailer was. It took them over a month to change my pontoon I almost took the boat back before the warranty work was done so I could have it for memorial weekend. JD is great to deal with in sales but thats about it. LISTEN CAREFULLY, if you use the service department, they will steal the shirt off your back. Mike is the most insanely rude person ive ever dealt with. quote you a price and when doneits 50% more with lame excuses. I will never use them again. Bought a boat from them at the boat show. Paid extra to get my bottom sounder installed. Later found the idiot technician drilled holes through the hull creating leaks. The bottom sounder transducer was installed wrong as well. Took it to someone who knows what they are doing. Told the service manager at Northbay about it. Asked for a credit for future service and was told the owners son said no way. Stay away from these incompetent and arrogant people. read more

Made a reservation in March for a May Boat Service and drop into the water. Called to setup payment 2 days before driving 300 miles. They told me they can't make good on the agreed date or any date due to scheduling issues. As of now have no ETA of getting my boat. Purchased new here 4 years ago. Looking for a new dealer/marina for the fall. 5-24 update: I spoke with Dillion who took the time to explain the the circumstances that got them in this scheduling mess. I added a star and my fingers are crossed for recieving my boat in June. This is the first and only bad experience I have had with North Bay. So now to describe another horrible example of customer service - this time with North Bay Marina. After having issues with the work Danny's Marine did with our boat, we decided to take it to where we originally bought it from thinking the service would be better here. WRONG!!! They quoted a price of around $600 to do spring mainanance on the boat. The gentleman. Mike only called us once to let us know the bottom needed power washed. Fast forward to today whenArchibald Russum III Orme picked up the boat. The price went from the quoted $600 to over $1600. Not once did they call to inform us of any additional charges. When asked why the price isn't what was quoted, Mike replied, "That's just the price to get people in the door. Everything gets broken down afterwards." Then he called our boat a piece of shit, which I found interesting since we bought it from them. Also, they charged us $200 for a new propeller which is what we asked for, but when we picked it up it was not on the boat so AR had to go back to have them install it. Never again!! Its shocking because we had great service when we bought it, not so much now. Beware if you service your boat here!!! read more

I purchased my boat from North Bay Marina in 2015. I should have known there would be problems when we found a hole in the deck. Then they gave away the boat manual to another customer so we had to wait until the following year to get a manual. But the real problem came in 2018. I scheduled my boat pickup (they store it in the winter) for the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. We scheduled months in advance. We then drive 4 hours to Ocean City, looking forward to a weekend on the boat. Problem is, they failed to deliver the boat. They then blamed it on a former employee (real classy). The biggest issue is that they didn't reduce the storage fee in light of their mistake. I drove 8 hours round trip and they didn't deliver on their promise. They then blamed a former employee. I now have to reschedule and drive another 8 hours round trip to get the boat. Mistakes happen. I get that. It's how companies respond to their mistakes that matter. North Bay Marina refused to take responsibility for their mistake and make it right by the customer. Last time I do business there. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. We purchased a new pontoon boat 3 years ago in May and have had it serviced/ stored ever since. There were problems from the start with the steering line having a kink in it- that the service department swore everything was fine (two different "new" service techs came out that the scheduler said weren't very experienced) - but finally agreed in August after wasting two summer beach days waiting for the inexperienced service tech that it should not be a strain for a 40 year old man to turn the wheel and replaced after a full season! Then came the annual fees and check up's...they make you feel like they are doing you a favor servicing/storing your boat! And you will do it on their time...telling you in mid May that you can't get your boat till mid-June and making you feel like an idiot for asking!!! This is the way this place has run for 30 years- I curse the day we purchased from North Bay and need recommendations on another place to service and store our boat...Once we finally get it released!!! read more

North Bay Marina could care less if you are dissatisfied with their service. I was charged 900 dollars to fix my boat that was not broken and delivered dirty because they didn't have time to clean it or we could wait until they were ready to complete the service. The boat was to be delivered 7 days ago. My friends paid to have their boat bottom painted they delivered it unpainted and charged them anyway. They are terrible! read more

Took my boat there just for a new trailer and when I picked it up there was some damage on the port transom corner. I politely tried to discuss it with JD and he flat out stopped responding to me. I thought it would be a good place to do local business and develop a relationship for the future. Obviously that didn't happen. I won't be back. read more

Did the job bad the first time so brought it back after being told free of charge to find out we have to pay. I know what they did and it shouldn't take 5 hours. My husband purchased a Suzuki Outboard from North Bay Marina in 2016. He recently had a problem with it and took it in for service to North Bay. It wasn't covered under the manufactures warranty but since he has an additional Suzuki protection plan for 3 years it was covered under that. When he went to pick up his boat he was told that he owed $728! Why, because it was North Bays responsiblity to contact SEP (Suzuki Extended Protection) prior to making repairs in excess of $500. He was given the phone # to SEP so we could file on our own, which we did immediately. Our claim was denied because North Bay failed to get pre approved for the repairs. I called and spoke to owner Scott about this and he said he would re-submit to Suzuki for manufactures warranty. I dont know why when it had already been called in and denied because it was out of warranty. So here we are with extended protection, left holding the bag because North Bay didn't do their job! Part of the repair work included non-warranty work which, imho should have been on a seperate work order. Had that been done, the warranty claim would not have been over $500, problem solved. Instead of owner Scott eating their mistake and refunding us, he said Suzuki Corp would cover the work for $242. Not good enough. Why should we be responsible for his employees error. The warranty part was just under $6 but it took 4.5 hrs of labor to install. Labor @ $99 an hr x 4.5 = $445.50 + part = $451.50. If Scott had held the service tech accountable for the error, it might be a deterrent in the future. We now have a claim with our bank to retract $405.00 from North Bay due to this situation. What we were over charged minus the $25 deductible. Needless to say, we will not be doing business in the future with North Bay Marina. 1 read more

I purchased a new Hurricane from North Bay Marine. After the purchase they continued to show the boat as available for purchase for several months. After calling them about boat remaining outside and lists for sale on their website, the immediately brought the boat inside and stored it. Upon picking up the new boat, I notice they did not receive any owners docs. They told me to go online and download everything and then gave me the wrong model numbers for the products. I also notices several several items that needed fixed during the delivery. The main one being the stereo having a high pitched noise when the engine was running. They said to bring the boat back in and they would fix it. I dropped the boat off for its initial service as well as to repair the damaged or not working items. After having my boat for over 2 weeks, the only work done was an oil change. All the other items remained broken. They sent a technician out to look at the boat and he was able to fix the high pitch noise coming from the stereo but then sub woofer stopped working. They returned and fixed the sub woofer but then the high pitch sound returned. This is the first summer with my new boat and I have not been able to really enjoy it due to multiple issues that have still not been fixed on the boat. I would never do business with this company. I have talked to other locals in the Ocean City and Delware area and they too said to avoid North Bay. read more
