Overall my experience has been great. I've had amazing service coordinators and supervisors over the years. They care about their clients and that is what I see in this agency. I was the member and officer of the board for 7 years and learned so much. More importantly I got to interact with the leadership often and I know they are good people doing important work. YES they have turnover, and YES they lose SC's and don't always notify clients! AND they are there during tough times (fires, earthquakes, COVID, PGE shutdowns) doing what they can for their clients. if I could give zero stars, I would. Research and go to any other center or place that can help you. NBRC is the absolute worst. None of the employees that work there know how to assist or know what to do with anything. The managers that are over the employees are just as bad. It takes months to get a response or reply about anything, once you do get a response or a reply, the information is inaccurate. I've been trying to get reimbursements for my daughter's GPS for a few months now. I've done everything on my end, I've asked questions, I've filled out forms, and still nothing. After submitting everything, it takes them two months to come back and tell me they need hardcopies or PDF forms. I have an email chain that is 10 times longer than this review, a whole bunch of back-and-forth with no help or results. When you ask for a timeline of how long everything will take, they don't have it. They absolutely do not have any kind of information that is helpful for you or your child. Jordan Brydstrong is the worst and absolutely no help. If you can get any other counselor, please do! If they assign you to Jordan, it's best that you request somebody else. Honestly, it's best that you don't even use NBRC. My daughter and I dealt with altar regional center in Sacramento and it was the complete opposite of this. They were very helpful, they knew the answers to questions about what they can and can't do, they were very responsive, very professional. They don't seem to listen very well. I tried to tell them I thought my mom was having seizures versus a stroke and they would not listen.

Horrible. HORRIBLE!!! They deserve ZERO stars. Honestly. Run from this place! My son has struggled his whole life with learning disabilities and spent every year (K-12) in Special Education. I've attended a million IEPs for him throughout his academic career. I've had him assessed by a few Psychiatrists when he was younger, but took him here back in 2016 thinking there may be a sensory thing going on as well and looking for any help we could find. The person that "evaluated" him (Robert Horon) said he didn't have anything at all going on with him. LOL OK! Come live with him for 24 hours and tell me again he has no intellectual disability. No autism? Cool. I accept that. However, my son STRUGGLES. He can't count change or even tell you how many months it is until his birthday or Christmas, etc. He's 24. But you're right, no intellectual disabilities. So, all of his MANY teachers/principals/Psychiatrists were ALL wrong and this one person was "right". Sure. lol. Thennnn, fast fwd to 3 weeks ago when I reached out to them again, unsure if this was the same place or not. He NEEDS HELP!!! I was calling everyone I could find online. The person that I unfortunately got stuck dealing with at NBRC was Guadalupe/Lupe. You can barely get a reply from her. Half of the replies were out of office replies saying she's on ANOTHER vacation and STILL no helpful info or consent form for my son to sign so I can speak with them about him. Then I'll get an email right before closing time...like yesterday, saying she sent him a consent form he needs to sign. Umm, the same one you said THREE WEEKS AGO you would need him to sign and never sent? STILL didn't have it. Not last night, not at all, all day today...not until 24 hours later. All of this, mind you, after acknowledging that he was, in fact seen there years ago. I called, my son called, all day today, trying to get her to send the consent form. I even called her counterpart/coworker, Erika who had reached out after I sent an email to Lester (while Lupe was on another vacation) who never answers his phone either. And the number Erika gave as her own, is disconnected and no longer in service. What?? This was a few days ago she put it on the email! So, LITERALLY NOBODY HERE CARES! I received an email from Lupe finally, later this afternoon, saying she sent him the consent form and needs him to sign it and get it back to her. He did it immediately already. I replied and told her that she should have it. And mentioned that I've been TRYING to get help for him since reaching out to them 3 weeks ago. Apparently she didn't like that because she suddenly had the time to write an email. It was all about how he was seen there before (we already established that) and went on to say that they can't help us, they won't evaluate him again and to look elsewhere. LOL That's how she treats people looking for help with disabilities!! Don't call them looking for ANY help. Don't bother them. They're busy taking vacations and sending your calls to voicemail. They don't give a sh*t about your kid, or mine. Period. Just the WORST. My son has been "served" by them for 10 years, since we moved to CA, and they have barely lifted a finger in all that time. Constantly changing service coordinators, missing IPPs, skipping IEPs, not following up, and routinely failing to respond to emails or notify us when my son's service coordinator has changed. I would give zero stars if I could. BUT. They're a state funded agency, so unless you're wealthy enough to hire an army of private social workers and care providers, you HAVE to work with these people. As such, they're like the DMV. They do not care how well they serve you. They do not care about "customer satisfaction." My experience is that they only time they actually do their job is when I start screaming at them about how they haven't lifted a finger or replied to any emails in a month, and question their competence. Then, and ONLY then, they will do the thing you're asking, or give you the help you need. They're like petulant children. they have so little actual power in the world, they wield what they DO have (information, mostly) like a weapon. I don't know if this is the standard for regional centers around the rest of the state, but NBRC specifically is bad. But if you have to work with them (like most of us do), go in swinging. Be demanding. Don't be polite or give them the benefit of the doubt. Be a bitch, and don't feel bad about it. I am exceptionally pleased with the services and contact my adult daughter has with her North Bay Regional Center case worker Andrea W. Her case worker does regular check-ins over the phone or in person. She set my daughter Leticia up with a life coach who has been a godsend in my eyes. Not only have they assisted her with transportation, life skills, budgeting skills, but they also helped her apply for further education and now she will be attending the C2C Program next fall through the SRJC. I have to say that we are truly impressed and grateful for the services she receives. read more

I would have to say I concur with the parents who feel stonewalled. I felt with first impressions that they played the dummy role on services that our son more than qualifies for. I had to hunt all the information down. Then when presenting it, after a bit of tug of war. And being given the run around. They knew what we qualified for all along. The system likes to make it hard on parents so you give up. Well this mom is a fighter! I felt as though I may be overthinking it or sensitive. However, reading that other parents have had the same experience just confirms my suspisions. They're an instrumental component in DDS waivers. As well as the foundation for many avenues of help with special needs children. We thankfully have private insurance as well, so when there is a stark contrast with NBRC therapist report verses corporate medical entities clinical notes; in your child's true capabilities. That is a huge HELLO! Are these NBRC employees or linked therapist trained to make sure to steer or word reports, in such a way to have them no longer qualify as a client by age 3. Our second therapist is more true to his capabilities on reports than the first. How could a intelligent educated professional only make mistakes that make the client sound more with it. And never mistakes that down play. A mistake can go either way unless it's intentional. Same with the coordinator on her reviews. I've made a stink a few times, now they are on point. Our current therapist is a sweetheart, but I'm well aware that she is trained in psychology. And at times just commends me as a psychological tactic. Why must we fight to the brink of wavering sanity for our mentally disabled children. All of the California State regional centers are the starting point for individuals who will need life long services. And they know that. The state services and programs that many of us have paid taxes on for decades to fund, are kept like secrets. It's absolute BS! read more

The people here are exceptional. Our son has autism and they have been instrumental in making sure we have had the services and support necessary to assist him. They have been providing quality assistance to us for 13 years now. We are so glad this service has been available to us. read more

This is one the worst regional centers in all of California. They have stonewalled and delayed much needed services for my son. Stay far away if you can. I am very disappointed in their services and to this day still try to use tactics that deny services to children who need it. Very unfortunate. read more

It is very difficult to get any help from NBRC. After my son turned three his case worker vanished. The last we saw her was on his 3rd birthday at his preschool IEP meeting - May 2012. The next I heard from them was when I received a voice mail (Jan 2014) saying that it was Vivian Wall from North Bay and she wanted my sons social security number. I called back and weeks later she returned my call and informed me our previous case manager had retired and she was calling to update all her new cases and requested my son's social security number again. I asked her if he was still able receive any services from North Bay and her response was "How dare you ask me that!" I then asked if she wanted to set up an in office appointment to discuss my son's case and she said no she would rather just get the rest of the information she needs over the phone. My son is now five and we have had zero contact with NBRC since that phone conversation. read more

Horrible horrible agency!! When I was in emotional distress back in September because I wanted to end social services, my case worker would not return my calls. Therefore, I believed I was being forced to work with an agency against my will. I sought out my therapist, psychiatrist, and lawyers because I was prepared to fight it. It was causing me distress. Didn't hear back from Ashely McLain until a week later and she acted really difficult and played god when it came to my right to end services. Horrible horrible agency. Very unkind workers. The neglect was so traumatizing. I would sue if I could. read more

I am currently protesting North Bay regional, New Leaf processors, and Greenfield III Long term care and their efforts to remove me as payee for my daughter and to keep family from visiting. They have conducted IEP's without my knowledge in violation of State Law, ordered procedures at Vaca hospital without notifying the family, stopped my ex-husband from visiting, and even reported she has no family. The final straw was a report to the police that I had committed fraud. No amount was given. Future posts will be made on my Social Media pages. These outrageous reports are all over Youtube. They must be stopped. Document visits to your loved ones and if illness prevents your visits, save medical documentation so they can't say you don't exist. I still can't learn the amount I was supposed to have stolen nor the reason they called police and wanted a change of payee. The worker, Morgan Debrees, hung up when I asked to speak to a supervisor. She claims she does not have one. It's a shame these individuals without degrees can make bogus complaints against professionals who are also Mandated Reporters engaged in community service. If there were zero stars I would have chosen that. I have been waiting 11 months for services promised and not provided. Almost daily emails and phone calls with little to no response. The IPP is grossly inaccurate, he can't even get the names of family correct. These people need to be investigated. read more

So far my experience with NBRC has been amazing. It does a take a little bit of time to get things up and running, but so far my son get 3 different services 3x a week and I am so thankful for the NBRC. It is good to note that if after the age of 3 NBRC no longer is the care provider because at that point the school district takes over. I know a previous poster said something about not being contacted, but I think it's because her child is 3. They make it very clear, in a nice way, that on your child's 3rd birthday their services stop and the school takes over- which they help you with. They don't just drop you and leave high and dry. So far everyone I have come in contact with through the NBRC have been awesome. read more
