Located right in the heart of our little town, Mingus Pool is an outdoor pool and appears to be highly maintained for utmost cleanliness. It gets a ton of good use, which is obvious most any time you drive past. Thankful for places people can go for fun and exercise, even in a rainy climate. But... there are dry saunas, hot tubs, a steam sauna, a lap swimming pool, free-weights upstairs along with weight machines, treadmills, stair steppers, a multitude of other types of stationary bicycles and ellipticals. Downstairs there are free-weights and spin bikes, power-lifting-type stuff, and a couple of punching/kickboxing bags. There are a couple of racquetball courts and a basketball hoop in one of the courts, as well. Additionally there is a ping pong table upstairs, along with a childcare play area. The clientele here is mostly older from what I've seen, and everyone has been friendly and accepting of one another. The staff is great, and payments for the gym are month-to-month. I haven't run into issues with equipment availability, and there are times especially during midday when I feel like I have the whole place to myself. As much as I'd like to keep it that way, it would be a disservice not to recommend BAAC to the world :-)

We signed a contract with Owens Custom Pools in May. We paid our $54,000 deposit to begin the…read morepermit process to build our pool. They said they would not order our pool until the permit process was complete. Our permit was approved in the beginning of August and we were ready to order the pool and put in as soon as it was ready. We ripped up the concrete, gigantic hole was dug, air conditioning unit was moved, and all sprinklers were shut off getting ready for installation. After another $17,000 check was written, we were ready. After continued attempts, we were strung along. No pool has been ordered, and no one will call us back. Our contractor that we had worked with for the past couple of months was "let go". We now are out over $70,000, with no pool, and a dying dirt pit in our backyard. We have contacted the BBB as well as Contractors board. They are apparently still trying to drum up business to cover the debt they currently hold. Do not do business with this company.

I would think that there would be some emphasis on trying to encourage parents to swim with their children. Instead, they're catering to the folks who can afford an elite pool membership. They need to provide an unlimited single pool access pass for parents and children. How is acting like an exclusive, for profit club working towards community building? Their new price scheme is exclusive, to say the least. I just want to teach my children to swim, but they're charging over $20 a visit for my two children and me to swim.
