Long review, but there's a TL;DR section. Unfortunately had a disappointing experience in this restaurant. We made a reservation on Christmas Day and decided to get the tasting menu with the wine pairing. There were 6 item on the tasting menu and each items were brought out nearly 30 minutes apart. Halfway through our dinner (about 90 minutes since we'd arrived). I was finishing my wine pairing before each food arrived. What was I supposed to do for 30 minutes with a wine glass in front of me? The food: The food is actually good, but the experience was ruined badly. I've lost my appetite on third course so the whole experience was no longer relevant. We just wanted to finish our dinner and leave. We asked our server to wrap up since we had to get home to our dogs as it was getting really late at night and the weather was bad. The waiting game was so bad that for the first time at a restaurant, I asked our server for the tab while still waiting for the last course, just so I can take care of it and leave as soon as we're done. We didn't wanna wait any longer. The atmosphere: It was very crowded and the seats next to other guests were too close to each other. It's like dining in Europe. You can hear everyone's conversation. But maybe it's due to the heavy rain that nobody is able to use the patio area. I've also explained the them that their seat was very uncomfortable to sit on for long period of time. It was like sitting on a wooden surface without any cushioning. The manager: The manager was really nice and sweet. She offered to take our coats for us as we sat down our table. She also noticed the issue with the kitchen so halfway through our dinner, she came to apologize. Towards when we were leaving, she again apologize and tried to offer me with some kind of discount or another drink, which I refused politely. We needed to get home, and we don't think we deserve some discounts since they had to work on Christmas Day. They deserved the pay and the gratuities. But they also need to know that many customers come from far away. We would be happy to join a different restaurant in Napa if the long dining experience were mentioned upon reservation. TL:DR Be prepared to spend an eternity in this restaurant. For a six small items, we were in the restaurant for nearly 3 hours. We go to Napa a lot. Maybe twice a month and we like to try different restaurants. I'm not sure if I'd ever come back here since I had better and pleasant experience elsewhere. This restaurant quickly went to the bottom of the list. read more

North Block, hello! Starting off with the appetizer, we had the octopus. The plate was good, however, I felt the flavors could have been turned up a notch and octopus wasn't as fresh as I was expecting. For mains, we had the Bolognese pasta and steak. The bolognese was very good! Not too heavy in terms of sauce or pasta which was superb. As for the steak, this was pretty good as well! Not crème de la creme for an $83 steak plate, but also not bad - just a tad bits of chewy pieces in there but nothing terrible. Service was on point and very detail oriented. We were not expecting such a top tier tasting menu meal and the best part? It was actually pretty affordable, especially for Napa. We even went back again for happy hour the next day. My daughter and her boyfriend were celebrating an anniversary and they were always wishing them happy anniversary and went out of their way to make them feel special. It was if they were the only guests! It was nice and small with welcome touches of great wine and cookies. They could not do enough for you.Food was outstanding as well. Hard to compete in wine country , but it was easy for them. Not a single complaint from anyone. Almost unheard of. Lol, would go back in a heartbeat! They are pet friendly too! Where do I even start?! We stayed at North Block Hotel in Yountville, CA this July to celebrate my birthday and our 20th anniversary, and I truly wish I could give it more than five stars. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, genuine, and flawless. Tucked away at the end of Washington Street, the property feels peaceful and secluded yet is just steps from incredible restaurants, bakeries, and galleries. Check-in was seamless. Our bags were whisked to the room while we strolled through the perfectly manicured courtyard. Waiting inside: chilled champagne on ice and a handwritten welcome note for our special occasion, an unforgettable first impression. Our room was stunning: spacious, immaculate, and thoughtfully designed. A huge bathroom with rain shower, soaking tub (complete with candle and bath salts!), and double vanity. A comfortable bed, Nespresso machine with espresso cups, and the showstopper: double doors opening to a private patio with terracotta tiles, lush greenery, and a dreamy daybed. The service here is next level. Davis went above and beyond to set up our TV so we could watch the Formula 1 race. Carter, Javier, and Raphael were always ready with a smile, great tips, or a few extra Nespresso pods. Housekeeping was meticulous, with turndown service and little evening treats. The pool area was serene and sophisticated, with quiet guests, soft music, and plenty of loungers. Breakfast felt European: fresh fruit, flaky pastries, artisanal breads, yogurt, meats, cheeses, coffee, and mimosas. I also loved being able to pop into the lobby anytime for a complimentary glass of wine or champagne. And our two Italian Greyhounds? They were treated like VIPs .. with beds, bowls, toys, treats, and even chilled bottled water waiting for them. How sweet is that?! North Block exudes elegance and comfort without a hint of pretension. After a couple of stressful years, the combination of the staff's kindness and the hotel's peaceful atmosphere was truly restorative. We were so excited to dine here tonight as an early Valentines Day celebration. The chef and support staff were amazing at tailoring to my allergy and they even made a special menu for us - so cute and special! Unfortunately we had countless awkward moments with our server to the point that really killed the ambiance and vibe of our dinner. It was so hard to understand him. Questions were not answered. I apologized several times to my husband for my choice in picking the place, and that was sad. We still tipped generously. Wow, wow, and WOW! Went here for our anniversary and let me just say it was worth the drive. From Antioch area and wanted to celebrate with a great meal and atmosphere. Got a two for one for sure. Ended up starting with Happy Hour which is everyday from 3-6pm. We ordered the mushroom flatbread pizza (made with double zero flour) and the smash burger with house seasoned fries. Yummy and filling. Ingredients are fresh and carefully prepared. Also, Brenden who is a true mixologist whipped us up some espresso martini's (one with brandy and the other with Gin). Holy moly! We also had dinner reservations for the Valley Coast tasting menu and it was nothing short of chef inspired culinary creations. Chef Jaun Cabrera (my apologies if I misspelled) is the mastermind behind this menu and takes pride and joy out of what is being served. We were graced with Duke as our server who was nothing but attentive and detail-oriented as well as the new GM Jessica who went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was of a Royal experience. From the scallop, to the gnocchi, and sea bass to aged beef dish it was well thought out and flavorful. The whole dining staff made sure everything was cooked to perfection. I love great dining experiences and this was top 5. Dessert was whoa! Had the cheese plate called "fun" as well as the Tiramisu and lemon meringue. So good! Loving the late night vibe here at the reopened "The Restaurant" at the North Block. Open till mid-night, this is definitely a great spot for us to drink till we stumble home. The redesigned cocktails are amazing! The seafood platter with abalone, oysters and clams is a must order. Happy hour daily at 3 to 5 features $2 oysters. Late night menu starts at 10pm with wings (full disclosure have not tried it yet). My favorite cocktail so far is the sea martini: the presentation is gorgeous, you can add salmon roe to the drink on the side! The gin is infused with oyster shell. It was spring break and we sent the kid off to the grandparents for quality time, so that we could spend quality time together. We LOVED this boutique hotel! It was very well manicured and chic. We knew people had checked-in, but we never saw anyone coming in or out of our villa for the two nights we were there. No one even came for late night happy hour in the lobby besides us. The room was amazing. Heated bathroom floors!! Hot tub! Robes! Slippers! Welcome chocolate and drinks! The whole experience was very well thought out and came with all the amenities that you needed. I loved how the North Block restaurant was literally steps away. We grabbed dinner there the first night and then pizza late night. This place is the ideal spot in Yountville if you have reservations at Chandon. It was walking distance. We literally walked all over Yountville bc everything was so accessible! Tasting rooms, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We even walked to dinner at Bottega. Ad hoc was just across the street. So many great places to explore. If you just want to spend time with your partner and enjoy the Yountville area, you can walk everywhere and feel safe. I would definitely stay at North Block and enjoy Yountville again. read more

With both a tasting menu as well as an a la carte, this restaurant has many choices. We come here often and like the courtyard and restaurant, but really prefer the front tables outside. We feel this fun spot epitomizes the Yountville vibe, upscale while still being welcoming and fun! The wine list is great, but the bartenders excel at drinks and the bar is lively most nights. Unfortunately the portions have recently shrunk. I don't know if the restaurant is under new management or if there's a new chef but it's kind of tragic to receive tiny portions of pasta, tiny Burratta, etc. They should be clear that the menu is now more about tastings. Granted the burger is a normal size and there are other entrées that are better proportioned but there has clearly been a reduction or a makeover. The Bolognese used to be a healthy portion and now it is quite small. The risotto was definitely appetizer size and you're paying full entrée price for it. It's a shame. All that said, it's a lovely restaurant and the food is delicious and the staff could not be nicer. It's definitely worth a visit if you eat first or if you are prepared to pay entree prices for small portions. But I still highly recommend the place and maybe they will make an adjustment back to the way they used to do portions. The burgers are delicious and the pastas are all very good and the salads are creative and yummy. In general the menu is very creative and the ambience is really nice. read more

We were a big group with small kids who wanted an elevated experience, they were great with us as we tried to corral the kids and keep them in check. Food timing was a bit hard to coordinate for such a large group, could tell they are more set up for couples etc but the effort and graciousness were outstanding. My husband and I frequently go to Yountville and this was our first stay here. I booked a reservation for a night stay at North Block Hotel for my husband's 33rd birthday. Honestly, we received exemplary service before even checking in. Kendall was quick and helpful with questions I had. North block is close to all our fave places- RH, jessup cellars & stewart cellars. We live in the Bay Area and drove up a little early for lunch. I called to inquire about parking and was told by Christian at the front desk that our room would be ready by 1230. It worked out perfectly as I made lunch reservations at RH for 1145. After our lunch we headed over and were greeted by Christian with a complimentary wine. The room was comfortable and luxurious. My fave part of the room was the soaking tub! The soaps and bath salts smelled phenomenal. Will recommend this place to all our friends for staycations read more

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay for our little extended Valentine's Day trip. The room was well appointed with heated floors and a tub AND a rainfall shower. We also enjoyed some time on the patio too when it was not raining. My husband always loves when our room comes with a nespresso machine too. The staff were friendly and accommodating, helping us with our bags right when we parked and before we checked in and bringing decaf nespresso pods promptly after requesting. Charming, boutique hotel with cozy, comfortable rooms. North Block ticks all the boxes. Perfect location, lovely staff (thank you to Davis who helped us at check in and Hillary, the GM), comfortable beds, a pool, gym and a restaurant with a full bar. Did I mention the beds?? They are divine! The included breakfast was wonderful. The attached restaurant serves up delicious food and pizza. Also, the hotel has complimentary bikes you can use to explore the town which is fun. Although, the restaurant is walking distance to some fabulous places to eat. My husband and I happen to live in the town of Yountville, CA . . . famous for its wine and highest rated restaurants (most notably The French Laundry). We are foodies to say the least and pretty critical. Last night we had the amazing privilege of eating at "North Block". The experience far exceeded our wildest expectations. Each course was better than the next. The colors, presentations, freshness and taste was startling. The last time we had a dining experience like this was when we went to The French Laundry. My wife and I celebrated her birthday for two nights. The room was perfect, we slept quietly on a very comfortable bed. The 50' pool was temperature perfect ( as was the spa).. my wife had a wonderful facial and we had relaxing and skilled massages. The dining was delicious. And the hotel staff were amazing!! Excellent. From check in to check out. One of the very best hotel experiences I've had. Yountville is very fancy, I love it. some places can be stuffy and more geared toward the older crowd. But north block is very trendy, more for the 30-ish crowd. The staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming. I got a glass of good champagne on arrival. They even offered a complementary night cap shot of whiskey for the late evening. The rooms were gorgeous. If you are in to interior design and style you would die for the decor.tub and shower were amazing. Linens were so luxurious. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The hot tub was perfect temperature and the pool was heated to a perfect 82 degrees. I took a night swim in November! There's complementary use of e-bikes. And it's walking distance to everything cool to do and see in yountville. Beautiful and worth every penny. read more

Finally snuck away to Yountville without the kids. We were able to secure a really good mid-week/new year deal through HotelTonight, and I'm so glad we were able to stay at North Block Hotel. It's been on my radar for some time now. I appreciate all of the attention to detail; from the welcome glass of champs, decor/fixtures, to the personalized notes waiting for us in the room and our names printed on the room key holder. Staff was attentive, extremely friendly, and followed up with a text as soon as we got settled in. We actually forgot our tooth brushes so I notified them via text and as we stepped out for an hour, we came back to find a pair of toothbrushes waiting for us in our bathroom. Now let's talk about the bed... I WANT ONE!!! Perfectly plush, kept my body temp cool, and we missed breakfast since we didn't want to get out of bed. The pool is open 24 hours and always heated. Even though it's technically winter, we slipped on the amazing robes and made our way to the pool at night. Both the pool and hot tub was so relaxing after a day of boozing. Back in the room, the bathtub had a jar of bath salts, candle and matches. Even during check out, they brought us two bottles of water and still followed up with a text as we were driving away. For being wedged between businesses and the highway, you almost forget where this hotel is located because of, yes, the DETAILS! Will definitely be coming back in the future and hopefully stay two nights. read more

Beyond fabulous -- great home base in Yountville. RH Restaurant is right next door. Tasting rooms all around. Everything in walking distance. Everyone so friendly. We rented their e-Bikes and cruised around town. Used the pool and hot tub both days. Front desk made sure we had all the margs we wanted from the restaurant at the hotel -- which is also pretty fantastic. Darnell at the front desk -- took care of anything you needed. Plenty of wine and sparkles at Happy Hour, and bourbon in the late evening. So clean and the bed was comfortable. Great to just chill on the balcony as the inversion layer burned off in the AM.
