I have visited this place over the years. The previous owners, years ago ]were rude, but the food was excellent, and so I overlooked the nonsense. Since new owners, and remodeling, I have visited often. I love the food. Quality is nice, the volume of food is more than fair, and prices are fair. My only complaint though is the wait time for food preparation. It takes a half hour from ordering to receive the food on a slow day. In addition, the Chinese waiter, a male, can be rude. I have seen him be not so nice to the elderly, and frankly, this bothers me a lot. And on some visits, he is slow to give table service. On good days, he is fine, in a fine mood. However, I think wait staff should have stable moods for their issues should not be my issues. I have been driving past this place for three years and didn't even know it. The outside of it looks incredibly skeevy, but the inside is very homey and welcoming. I was thinking it was going to be like a typical Chinese restaurant. I've learned not to completely judge a book by its cover. The food is cheap. But, you also get a TON of extras for free. The second you sit down, you get free fried wontons with duck sauce, soup, and a really good tea. They have a huge lunch menu that averages $6.50 a plate. I was thinking it was going to be a small lunch meal. No. You get SO MUCH FOOD. As a college student that loves leftovers, it was awesome. Also, they're very quick. I think it took my friends and I a half hour from walking in to walking out. My only complaint was the waitstaff. The waiter had an attitude that made me feel like I should be apologizing for asking for more water. The woman working at the front was really nice too. Wait, two complaints. They don't deliver. I love their food, but they never quote me under an hour for delivery time. Just called and they told me it would take an hour and twenty minutes and I live right down the street. Definitely had a few odd dining experiences here. The food is decent and portions are reasonable for the price, however this place lacks customer service skills and common people skills. I work in customer service so everything I do is to make my customers happy. If you dont know what you want right away you are made to feel like you are bothering the waiter. My friend politely wanted her own check and our waiter snapped at her and started yelling that she needs to tell him that in the first place. Very embarrassing and the other diners were looking over at him in shock. Please retrain your staff (the only waiter we see there) how to treat the customers. read more

Let me start by saying the food was delicious. But, the service was unbelievably terrible. The waiter was obvouisly a very dramatic person and huffed and puffed impatiently while we looked at the menu, never asked if we wanted to order a drink, never refilled the water, and NEVER came back after he slammed the food on the table. We had to hunt him down for the check. Once we paid, he shouted in a high pitched whiny voice " You forgot the tip. Where is my tip". Rule With North China, Do Not Judge a Book By its cover. It looks like a concentration camp building, but food is amazing. Service is decent. The man in dining room has an attitude and argues with the customers. Take out is recommended. We're from California, some of the best Chinese food, and love this place. would come back! read more

Above-average for your standard American Chinese food. Not exactly the most inviting place from the outside, but standard "Chinese restaurant" interior. Personally, I don't really care anyway, I was there because I had a rare craving for Chinese food. Staff was very nice, and my waiter was great... definitely above average... got me refills without having to ask, got me a clean plate when he noticed a grain of rice had fallen on the one he brought out (it fell from my bowl of rice, so I didn't think it was necessary, but he did it before I could even tell him it was fine.) As for food, the menu is what you'd expect... standard over-sugared Chinese, but I was impressed that my shrimp with garlic sauce was cooked very nicely... not overcooked to rubber as it would normally be, and good-sized. The vegetables were very fresh, and also not overcooked, and it wasn't all greasy. It also doesn't hurt that the prices were very very reasonable. I got one of those foofy cocktails in the funny glass, and even with that, the meal (soup, fried rice, garlic shrimp) was only $12 plus tip. They are the best Chinese food in the area hands down. The food is always consistent and good. They get five stars on their food. My problem with this place is the amount of time you have to wait when ordering to pick up. There is only one lady who works the phone and they could easily do with two. Three times I have called and placed an order and was told 25 minutes. I arrive 35 minutes later and every time I have to wait an additional 30 minutes. I watch on to the receptionist as I wait and there is a flood of calls coming in. She tells every person 25 minutes but yet there is about ten people all waiting on their food for pickup. The food is great and I would have no problem waiting for an hour if she was just honest about the wait time. This has happened all three times and because of the dishonesty I will no longer continue to order from them. read more

North China's back baby!!! I used to eat there for years and the family sold out to a sub par new owner. Honestly it had been at least 5 years since I ate there... We gave it a try.. Easily the best around the Chicopee area!! They will deliver almost anywhere ( if your willing to wait). The one down fall is if she tells you 45 minutes she means it!! Fresh and good!! read more

The food is fine and portions are generous and people working there are friendly and nice. Price is reasonable too. A lot of people order take out here, dining area is however big and reasonable. Food is not traditional though and I would say it's Chinese-American. I don't know if they have a more authentic menu for Chinese customers. read more

Big bang for your buck! I think the food is pretty standard for a Chinese food menu, but the portions are large and the prices are low. The woman in charge must secretly be inspector gadget because she rapidly answers phones and takes orders, all while staying calm and collected. It is really quite amazing (and even exhausting) just to sit and watch. Whatever pick-up time they give you on your take-out orders, be sure to add at least 15 minutes before you go to pick it up. They are constantly flooded with take-out. The actual restaurant looks like a little hole in the wall and the decor is pretty dated, but the service has been quick any time I've been there. read more

The restaurant has good food. the problem is not enough wait staff. I have frequented the restaurant twice a month for years. 1 or 2 years ago they had a young girl who would bus tables not anymore. their is only 1 waiter for place that can seat 75- 100 patrons. this is their problem !!!!! They need to hire more wait staff!!!!!! I will not go back because I waited 20 minutes to get seated& and another 20 minutes for the waiter to take our order. needless to say we walked out never to return. we left went to another restaurant received better service read more

I love this place, I love this place, I love this place... but it has its flaws super long waits, dicey food at times. I hate that I love north China. I've gotten sick from north china twice now. Once a couple months ago and once from Chinese we ate yesterday. My sister who lives in a different home got sick too from the food, as well as my poor dog who was given a small bite of broccoli. My wife and I tried North China. on Easter, 2017. We tried it because of Yelp reviews, It was one of the best experiences of my life, The prices are low, the food is cooked to order and the portions were enormous! We started with wonton soup. Fabulous, Tasty, large wontons with great flavor. My wife and I both had combo dinners. Hers came and it was so freakin huge I thought it must be for two! When mine came, different than hers, it was also huge! Both were delicious. We had also ordered a side of pork egg foo young. That came on a platter! Enormous 6-inch in diameter and 1 in thick in the center, which was stuffed pork, onions and other veges. And not the simple brown gravy for a sauce, but a delectable dark soy sauce in color that was also amazing! Was driving by & had a craving for Chinese food. Passed a couple of places with very few cars in the parking lot (not a good sign on a Saturday night!). So I stopped by North China on a whim. The Service was quick, friendly & efficient. Food was excellent, imagine cashew chicken with generous amounts of chicken & cashews! Sauce was flavorful without being overpowering.
