I am so psyched I actually found a good Chinese restaurant in the Chicopee/Holyoke area. Beef with Broccoli was great. Broccoli and carrots fresh and crisp. Beef was delicious as was the sauce. Won Ton soup was excellent too. Great broth and won tons were tasty. Even the white rice was well cooked, fresh tasting and not stuck together as you're dishing it out. My local Chinese restaurant in Holyoke, with an unjustly low rating at the time of this review. This is a no-frills establishment that carries a large menu of standard-fare American Chinese food. However, the quality has been exceptionally good, especially in the last couple years since there appears to have been a change in management. The portions are generous, the meat and especially the vegetables aren't overcooked (a problem I've encountered at some other places), and the staff are friendly and professional. Is it greasy? Yes, though not nearly as much as some other places around here. Is it healthy? Probably not, unless you get one of the steamed vegetable dinners in the "healthy section". Personally I don't get Chinese food for my health; my personal favorite order is the dinner combo plate with chicken and broccoli and fried rice. Comes with an egg roll and tastes perfect every time. The timeless General Tso's chicken is also a treat. I've been here enough that a year or two ago they even gave me a free tote bag, which is among my most cherished thing-holders today. If you live in Holyoke, forget the middling rating and give this place a try. It's a great place to have in the neighborhood. read more

I finally stopped here today for lunch, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the L23 lunch special: garlic chicken with fried rice, and spring roll. The price was fair, and they cooked it up really fast (like less than 10 minutes). They also have an open kitchen, and you can watch them making your food. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality when I opened my takeout box. Lots of vibrant colored vegetables. The quality looked great, and tasted equally fantastic, and the lunch portion is enough to feed two people. The food is a bit greasy, as is to be expected, but I really liked the taste of the oil they use. Everything was quality, and the staff was friendly. I will definitely go again. FYI: if you are planning on a first date, they do have indoor seating, but I would recommend this restaurant more for takeout. read more

Came here while in the area house sitting for a friend. I ordered online & arrived to carry out. The restaurant was weirdly smokey (hazy?) inside from the vigorous cooking. I waited a little for for my order to be ready but it was well worth the wait! The chicken and brocoli combo with fried rice was the closest Chinese takeout I've found around here that resembles the Chinese food I used to get back in New York. The fried rice is yellow & deliciously improved by onion, roast pork & various seasonings. The egg rolls are greasy but perfection!! This used to be a good restaurant that had food similar to Golden China in the good ol' days. We all like the Chinese food we become accustomed to, right? Some swear by Bamboo House, which see the picture of hair? I'm going to continue looking for a good restaurant, thank you. Like I said, once we find what we like, we keep going back. So, when I found a piece of black licorice in Golden Chopsticks' Kung Po Chicken, I, unlike few who would, tried to forgive. When I saw large crates of eggs sitting out unrefrigerated, I just avoided the egg foo young. When the normally reliable boneless spare ribs started going down hill, I gave the benefit of the doubt once, then twice ... then it happened again this week. This time I went to get my money back armed with a container of uneaten fat and gristle. Gross. You'd think they'd want to know. They first offered to make a new batch, but I didn't want to wait (that is up to me, not them). It wasn't appetizing anymore. Wanted to move on. Then they stated I had already eaten some of the ribs. Yeah, genius, that's how I discovered it was a pile of crap. And that didn't include what I threw away after chewing; guess I should have brought that too. Then they refused to refund $10 for the inedible garbage. The girl at the counter even printed off the receipt from the night before but said, since I did not go back soon enough for her liking, did not make another trip out that night, it was my fault she would not refund the cost of the chum she now had in her dirty little hands. So, I guess their policy is you have to eat the food as soon as you get it, don't save it for lunch the next day because if it's crap on day 2 it's your fault for not saying so on day 1. Seriously wtf. So, here's my response for posterity. They want my $10 that bad? Fine. It cost me nothing to write this and their crappy customer service will cost them in lost business. I come from a lone line of long-lived ancestors lol so you could be talking decades. Decades. Congratulations to them for losing a customer. I guess that's their measure of success. Went to pick up an order for $14.50. Left a .50 cent tip to round up my purchase. I always round up my charges so I can make sure there is no tip fraud on my purchases. Of course, I get an alert that the card was charged $19.50. I called and spoke to one of the owers who said all the slips were at her house and she would call me back. Never heard back. Ended up calling back today and was helped by another lady who was super nice at pick up who explained that this isn't the first time the lady has done this and that she mysteriously lost the slip. Credit cards don't lie, people do. If you decide to get their subpar food, make sure you pay cash or you'll end up with fraud on top of the stomach ache you just ordered. read more

First time I have ordered here and will be the last! The chicken fingers were over cooked and rubbery. It was just disappointing!

Just moved into the area and was excited to try out the local Chinese places, kind of glad and sad we decided to go with this one right away. Glad because we got it out of the way first, sad because it was such a disappointment. My roommate and I order a Pu Pu Platter for two so we could try a lot of their things at once along with an order of Crab Rangoon. We picked up the order (since we live close by) and they weren't very personable and forgot the crab rangoon we ordered. As for the food, the chicken wings were good, crispy but not too dry, the chicken fingers were decent, some were a bit too soggy as were the egg rolls and the ribs were a bit too tough and dry for me but my roommate liked them and she liked the shrimp which I had none of. The crab rangoon though was probably the biggest disappointment, they tasted very processed and were still cold in the middle, they also had crunchy veggies inside of them, we think they were onions but couldn't fully figure it out. We won't be going there again and we suggest you skip the Golden Chopsticks as well, but, if you feel the need please don't let one bad review keep you from trying it yourself. read more

We've been using the Golden Chopsticks since we moved to Massachusetts. For the most part, we never had an issue. The foot is usually decent. However, the last time we ordered, something was wrong with their beef. My mom and I got shrimp, but my dad had a beef dish. He only ate a little bit before he became violently ill, and I had to take him to the ER where he was diagnosed with food poisoning. We called to tell them that there was something wrong with their beef and that my dad got sick, we weren't accusing them of it being deliberate or saying we were going to sue them, just giving them a heads up to stop using the beef, and the woman on the other end started yelling at my mom, calling her a liar. Never eating here again after that experience. They lost some loyal customers. read more

Had a craving for Chinese for the first time in a while, so I figured I'd give them a try. I ordered the boneless spare ribs and Szechuan Shrimp since I was in the mood for a little bite, and asked for brown rice. The guy seemed confused by that, but seemed to understand once I said, "brown rice instead of white", so I thought nothing of it. Got home and opened up the containers... what I got was white rice that had been colored brown with some kind of.... I couldn't quite tell what. It was the strangest thing I've seen in a while. Definitely wasn't soy, tasted vaguely caramel-like.... Anyway, regardless of the rice (which I barely eat any of anyway) the food was pretty darned good. The spare ribs were about what you expect from an american chinese place... pretty good, and not too greasy. The shrimp dish was great! Nice fresh veggies, good amount of decent-sized shrimp... and it actually had some heat to it! I'm so used to ordering items marked "spicy" on chinese food menus, only to find that they have no spice whatsoever. Flavor was great and it was not a greasy mess like some Chinese places pump out. Overall, I'd definitely get food from them again. I'll just make sure not to order the "brown rice". read more

This place is good if you want some cheap chinese food. Kinda greasy, but not bad. You have to know what to order though. Some dishes are good, some aren't great. Their noodle dishes are probably the best. It's fast and there's a wide variety of options to order. 2.5 hours to get my food after the driver delivered it to the wrong address and acknowledged that he couldn't find mine so delivered it to a neighbor without calling. After calling and being told I was getting a new order, the driver said he picked my food up from my neighbor and was bringing it to me. My Sire once said " I stand corrected ". In this particular case and on this journey itself it applies. Amazing yet humorous really as to what can happen in an entire year really. ( ok enough psychology for 1 day lol ) upon my journey home and quest for finding the perfect cure for "home-sickness", I break down and come to what I " THOUGHT" was my favorite Chinese Take-Out restaurant in the entire town enough to even state the fact it should be considered a tourist landmark. Much to my mistake I find it otherwise and terribly so ( my genuine of apologies to all my readers). In this particular moment in time I am going to say it did a complete turn around as to the fact they clearly changed staff or cooks anyhow and one that was severely incompetent in making " Beef with Garlic Sauce". youch, why so harsh you ask? Simply put the sauce no the dish had not been mixed well enough OR had been sitting far too long and was allowed to break apart ( similar to a hollandaise sauce ) nothing but grease, oil, and whatever else they use to make the garlic sauce thta excluded no soy sauce or lack there of anyhow and was replaced with spice, the meat itself appeared to " barely" be safe enough to eat, and seriously only thing that was cooked was the veggies that were packed full of hot pepper to give it a kick which lacked luster. Over all emotion behind the dish was they didn't care and more or less were trying to cut corners or hurry the food out the door terrible quality. Since I wasted a ton of time on the meal I'm going to say the " appetizers" or lack there of was worse and bad enough I decided to take a bite out of several pieces and am going to post the disappointment inside of a " crabrangoon" which with this recipe is easy enough. " add a little (humor)air+honey- crabmeat= X" Simply put X= equals conartists cooking in the kitchen and you paying for a rip off sopapilla laced with creamcheese and honey. ( kinda like paying for tickets to a " frank sinatra" concert and you get Millie Vanillie doing a tribute play) Oh wait, I had that happen also, I think it was called " come fly away"? lol. so yeah i'll be posting before n after pics of those for the good of yelp. Food is pretty good. I order here because they deliver to my place. As far as americanized Chinese food it's reasonably priced and is usually fresh and cooked in clean oil . Staff are very friendly and delivery is always very fast. They will say 45 minutes but usually here in about 25. It's worth a try. read more

I recently moved to the area and wanted to find a new place to fulfill my Chinese cravings! I have tried the General Tso Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken and Garlic, Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon and Pork Fried Rice. There has been nothing spectacular about the main dishes, but the RICE IS FANTASTIC! It is fresh and not greasy and has the perfect amount of seasoning. I highly recommend it. I am a big Crab Rangoon fan and I like theirs okay, just a little too sweet for my taste. I worked as a cashier and honestly that place is so disgusting. They don't wash there hand's after there done touching other things, they use the same frying pans without washing them after raw meat has been on it, she doesn't use a hair net when she's making food. Today a customer called to complain about hair being in her chicken fingers and the Chinese lady yelled at her over the phone calling her "stupid" and "crazy". Last week her and another cashier were cursing each other out because the lady was messing up with her hours and money. She worked 5-10 and the lady only paid her 33$. She's rude and disrespectful she shouldn't even have this business open. Another thing to be careful about is if you called there before and you wanted to pay over the phone , the computer system still has you card information. She will ask you for it, but she's just making sure it's the right number knowing damn well it's right in her face. read more

My Husband and I tried this restaurant last night for the first time. In my experience the are the best chinese food that you can have delivered in holyoke. I thought they were very courteous both on the phona as well as the delivery driver. Service was prompt food was delicious not to greasy, and portions were good value. Another plus is almost everything I heated up today is pretty much as good today. We tried the pu pu for 2 with the rice and also got general tsos' chicken and house special lo mein.
